I grew up on Tommy's chili dogs. My father loved this place. Follow them on IG for specials. They even have an app but the specials aren't reflected there so beware. I placed an order to go and customized it. The order was exactly as I ordered it. Boom!! Can't wait to go again. Ok, bye. read more

There's nothing fast about this fast food. It's at least 30 minutes with only 2 in front of me. The girl at the register definitely did not want to be there and made it very obvious. I even said to keep the change which she threw in the garbage. The food was as I remember. Ok but definitely not worth the time spent to make the long drive to get there, the ridiculously long wait in line, and the poor obnoxious attitude. Next time I'll go somewhere else. read more

Tommy's been around for so long. The first visit was years and years ago at a different location. Haven't had a chili cheeseburger in a while so decided to drop by. Their chili was still good as before. Makes me wonder why I haven't been back. Nothing really changed except for the prices lol still same old good chili cheeseburger. Service was ok. They packaged the food pretty neatly. They wrapped the burger with like 3-4 sheets to make sure the chili didn't leak out. Thanks!! Gonna get it again when in the area =] read more

This spot has its own parking lot so there's plenty of parking. Wanted to kill my craving and it's been years since I've had a Tommy's chili cheeseburger and that's exactly what I ordered a number one combo with regular fries cooked well and honestly, their burgers got smaller for $20 not worth it. I was looking at their menu prices for à la carte items and the prices don't add up. I shared this with my friend, and it hit the spot though when I come back again anytime soon? NO. read more

A little Tommy's love here. Been stopping at various stores for almost 4 decades. Including one that was 1hr + drive away - it was the closest one. Since we don't come to SoCal frequently, Tommy's is required. Like the original location this is a stand, tables with umbrellas for dining. Great for today's sunny day. Just the Cheeseburger and fries for me. Nowhere near the taste I've come to expect. The burger tasted off - best description I can give. It wasn't the chili it was messy and greasy as expected and tasted good separately. So it must have been the meat, veg or both. Took the innards off and ate the chili with my fries. Disappointed in the taste but the chili was good. read more

Unfortunately, my boyfriend's experience at this Long Beach location was very different from the consistently great experiences he has had at the Los Angeles location. The tomato was hard, the bread was disappointing, and the overall presentation was not as appealing as expected. He also felt that the flavor and quality were noticeably below what he normally associates with Tommy's. The service from the night crew was also disappointing. About an hour before closing, he was told that the ice cream machine had already been turned off and that they did not want to turn it back on. He would give the Los Angeles location five stars, but based on the food quality, presentation, and service during this visit, he rated the Long Beach location three stars. read more

Original Tommy's in Long Beach always hits the spot; there truly is no better chili cheeseburger in the world. The fries are consistently crispy and have a great snap, making them the perfect pairing for dipping into that chili-cheese gooey goodness. The ambience is straightforward, featuring only outdoor seating. They also have a solid drive-thru game, where you are usually in and out within five to ten minutes--though you might run into a longer line right after a local high school football game. To top it off, the staff is always friendly, helpful, and completely locked in. read more

One thing I appreciate about Southern California is how strong our Burger and Fast Food culture is. Honestly, I'd tell people not from the area to try Tommy's before In-N-Out, so they have insight into what an LA burger is. Everything inside the bun comes together harmoniously and I love that DoorDash is offering a BOGO deal on the cheeseburgers. read more

Got a Chill Burger and Chili Cheese Fries. If you follow OT on FB, you get updates on their current limited specials. So normally the Chili Cheese Fries are $7.40. The current limited special reduced it down to $3.99. Always been a big fan of their chill. You can actually buy a similar version of their chill at Smart & Final. Look for RC Provisions Chili Con Carne. It comes in a 5 lb frozen tube. My only issue today was that the Chill Cheese Fries were a little too salty. They were crispy. However, next time I will tell them to use no salt fries for the Chill Cheese Fries. Service was friendly and prompt. read more

After our cruise, I had to stop and get some Tommy's! First time here at the one in Long Beach. Its a cool building. You can tell its old school. I hit the drive through and went with an order of well done chili cheese fries with onions, and a breakfast burrito (check their Facebook/Instagram for weekly deals....the day I came, they had a breakfast burrito for $3.99!...cant beat that!). How was everything? Chili Cheese Fries- If you have read my previous reviews, you know how much I love Tommy's chili cheese fries. They are THE best! None better, anywhere! These were the same! Super fresh, crispy well done fries, topped with some slices of American cheese and drowned in their delicious chili with onions on top. Perfection! Breakfast Burrito- For $3.99, this is a GREAT deal...not always that cost, check the Facebook and Instagram posts for the specials of the week/day. Anyways.....Huge burrito with eggs, cheese, hash browns, sausage and a ton of chili. Fresh and hot, the chili really goes well with all the other ingredients. Super delicious! Service was great from the guy at the register/drive through! Glad to know this Tommy's is here in Long Beach for future stops! Can't wait to come back! read more

Today !!! The celebration of 80yrs Anniversary wow !!! 80 cents Amazing !!! I'm a long time fan of Original Tommy's having gone to the original location numerous times in Echo Park. Inflation has raised the price of the combo meal 1 to a whopping $18.01. Despite the price, I happen to be in LB and yelped that they have a location here which was on my way home. Pictures never do the burger justice and all I can say is "once you try, you cannot deny - Original Tommy's." read more

While we were in the local area after running errands we chose to come to Tommy's. We drove thru the drive thru. We decided we would sit and eat in car. It was not so busy until after we recieved our food. The line got longer. I Just devoured my chili tamale I had been craving for some time now. One thing for sure they are never short of any chili ! There are 3 tables to sit down and dine there. There is no inside dining. We enjoyed our chili read more

I was hesitant to visit this place because I seen a video posted about this location. The video had a rat jumping around the kitchen by the chili. This was about 4 years ago. Nevertheless we were hungry after a concert we attended. It was about 11pm, Ordered a double chilli burger and chilli fries. The food hit the spot! Everything was greasy and my taste buds were roaring with cholesterol! Lol. Overall, I recommend this place regardless of what I saw. Things can be corrected. Plenty of parking and about 5 tables outdoor seating. There is no indoor seating just fyi. I gave this place 4 stars just because of the time I got here. A bar across the street and a few crazies walking on anaheim street. Delicious :) read more

I've been going to Tommy's for over forty years, and they've been consistently excellent every single time! The combination of their signature chili, thick and juicy tomato slices, crunchy pickles, melted cheese, and just the right touch of mustard makes this burger truly unbeatable. There's nothing else quite like it -- messy in the best way possible, full of flavor, and uniquely Tommy's. You just can't duplicate this taste anywhere else. It's a California gem and a must-stop spot for anyone who loves a great burger. After four decades of visits, I can confidently say -- Tommy's never disappoints! read more

Ok, call me crazy, call me weird, call me whatever you want! Just don't call me late for dinner! Ba dum tss! Ok enough of the jokes! hahaha! Whenever I feel like having a chili cheese dog I come to Tommy's. Yes, it is a burger joint, famous for their chili burgers, however their chili dogs are delicious as well! Can I get an amen?! Staff are friendly and ready to take your order. The place is small so I usually take my food to go and enjoy my meal in the comfort of my home. Conclusion: Need a a classic chili cheese burger or chili dog come to Tommy's! Don't forget to ask for extra napkins, you'll thank me later! P.S. Their chili tamales are amazing! read more

The food here is really good -- no complaints there. But the service? Kind of threw me off. We waited in line and not one person acknowledged us. No "Hi," no "We'll be right with you," nothing. Just weird energy. When someone (a guy with glasses) finally acknowledged me as I was about to order, he suddenly stopped and said he was going to help the people behind me first because they were picking up. I get it -- pickups can be quick. But the way it was done felt rude. No explanation, no courtesy, just brushed off like I wasn't standing there ready to order. I'd come back for the food, but definitely not for the hospitality. read more

Waited for 40 minutes, there were only two cars in front of me, and one person in the walk up line! The two dorks working there, looked like the bottom of the barrel. Gave me a Pepsi, that was overfilled and spilled all over my car. This location has always had poor service. It's a poop show there!! Never going back. The two useless workers there, will never amount to anything in life! I hope they don't procreate! read more

Today I decided to try something different and have a Breakfast Burrito at this location. After being greeted very coldly, I began to place my order. Unfortunately they are out of sausage patties today. Being an idea type of guy, I suggested they put a hamburger patty on the burrito instead. The lady told that would be an extra charge. I stated would my breakfast burrito be any cheaper because they're out of sausage patties? The lady said no, and that's why she told me they're out of sausage patties before. A huge difference from my last review here. I left hungry and we ate someplace else. read more

Some of the best chili for burgers and dogs out there. Been around for years. The chili fries while not a huge portion fill you up all by themselves! Excellent chili to fries ratio. Another trip down memory lane! We were in Long Beach for the weekend and saw this, which caused us to make a left turn for an order of chili cheese fries! As we remember it, greasy chili with tender perfectly cooked fries underneath. And the taste of Tommy's is still there! The three stars is really more about the wait time to order, through the drive through. It was several minutes for sure! When we got up to the window, I only saw two people so asked and he said there were actually three of them. Also said that management won't bring on any additional people so the result is a long line and long wait. Not the employee's fault, blame the management/ownership for wanting to keep costs down I suppose. But you risk losing customers! We saw two cars actually move out of line and drive away. I may have done the same except for our draw of wanting to have Tommy's!!! read more

Wasn't my favorite. I was a fan of the Original Tommy's in LA off Rampart. Unfortunately, it seems like the Tommy's recipe and quality varies from location to location. I was craving chili cheese fries and Tommy's is open nice and late. The staff was friendly and they came out relatively quickly, so neither one of those parts was an issue. When I opened the box it was like a bomb went off in there. The fries weren't crispy, the cheese was cheese slices, and the chili was simultaneously greasy and absent of flavor. There are so many places in Long Beach to get a good chili cheese fries. I would not order these again. read more

We spent $150 and each time was wrong. We ordered regular cheeseburgers and got chili burgers. The amount of chili that added seemed like a Taco Bell bathroom gone wrong. It did not taste good one bit. Not sure how they're able to use the "world's famous" phrase. Their service is alright but wouldn't say the best. They just want you out of the drive thru which may explain why all of the food was wrong. It's a small spot that you can tell it's been around for a while. Anyways, wouldn't be back nor recommend. read more

Horrible customer service the workers are trash. Need new workers. if the food is decent.

The service sucks, great food, I actually just left after standing at the window being ignored for 5 minutes....

If In-N-Out is the official fast-food California burger, I nominate Original Tommy's as the official burger of Los Angeles. Started from a small shack in the Los Angeles Rampart district, this burger chain created a new burger with something special - chili. No other fast-food burger chain has replicated this idea in the menu. Here is an insightful tip. Follow Original Tommy's IG, where they promote BOGO deals. I was here a few days to explore my option in getting a BOGO cheeseburger. What I ordered: CHEESEBURGER (530 calories) - Their chili isn't the best stand-alone chili, but it compromises with the burger. The chili's grease bleeds through the paper and makes it transparent. Not sure if that's a good sign, but in the back of the mind, I'm sure the grease and fat are the reason why I crave Tommy's once in a blue moon. read more

Hubbers was in the mood for their one-of-a-kind chili burgers but didn't want to trek all the way to Westlake or the now (as we recently learned) defunct location in Santa Monica. With Yelp to the rescue, we learned the closest location from where we were is here or Huntington Park. This location was further, but we opted for it since the drive was easier. And the drive was easy. What made it more pleasant is that it wasn't busy on a mid-day Saturday. There was only one customer ahead of us already waiting for his order and maybe a couple of cars at the drive thru. It was a simple order to-go: 2 cheeseburgers, one burger, 2 chili dogs, 2 chili cheese fries. (This is for a party of 6.) But for whatever reason, the cashier had trouble with getting our order right. When repeating the order, she forgot the dogs. At her second attempt, she forgot the fries. She had to repeat the whole thing at least two more times after that to get it right. It wasn't long before we got our order and went on our way. Hubbers mentioned he should have ordered another cheeseburger "for later" as he looked through our box of goodies. It's a good thing he did and it's a good thing we hadn't driven too far because he noticed the fries were missing. We checked our receipt and sure enough, this particular order wasn't there. We opted for the drive thru when we returned. Two cars ahead of us. And for whatever reason, it took 20 for us to put in our order, then another ten minutes before we got our missing food and off on our way home. There were no customers at the window, so I'm not sure what the delay was about. The packaging was great because even with the time getting home, the food somehow stayed warm. It is as expected: Tommy's really does have that specific taste exclusive to them. The one thing I love about their chili is that it contains no beans. The portion of food isn't too big either so having the chili burger didn't make me feel like I was overstuffed. FOOD: 5. It is as expected. Most important is that Hubbers is happy the food hit his hunger spot. SERVICE: 2. But I'm hoping the cashier's wellness is okay since it's highly unusual not to get the order right despite repeating it multiple times. VALUE: 3. PARKING: Private parking with only a couple of spots. Street parking also available. OVERALL: 3.25. It's not something I normally crave. The trip was for Hubbers mostly, but overall an okay run. Everyone else in the household enjoyed their goodies. We would return should Hubbers' Tommy food trip kick in again. read more
