Tommy's been around for so long. The first visit was years and years ago at a different location. Haven't had a chili cheeseburger in a while so decided to drop by. Their chili was still good as before. Makes me wonder why I haven't been back. Nothing really changed except for the prices lol still same old good chili cheeseburger. Service was ok. Got a Chill Burger and Chili Cheese Fries. If you follow OT on FB, you get updates on their current limited specials. So normally the Chili Cheese Fries are $7.40. The current limited special reduced it down to $3.99. Always been a big fan of their chill. You can actually buy a similar version of their chill at Smart & Final. Look for RC Provisions Chili Con Carne. It comes in a 5 lb frozen tube. My only issue today was that the Chill Cheese Fries were a little too salty. They were crispy. After our cruise, I had to stop and get some Tommy's! First time here at the one in Long Beach. Its a cool building. You can tell its old school. I hit the drive through and went with an order of well done chili cheese fries with onions, and a breakfast burrito (check their Facebook/Instagram for weekly deals....the day I came, they had a breakfast burrito for $3.99!...cant beat that!). How was everything? Chili Cheese Fries- If you have read my previous reviews, you know how much I love Tommy's chili cheese fries. They are THE best! None better, anywhere! These were the same! Super fresh, crispy well done fries, topped with some slices of American cheese and drowned in their delicious chili with onions on top. Perfection! Breakfast Burrito- For $3.99, this is a GREAT deal...not always that cost, check the Facebook and Instagram posts for the specials of the week/day. The food here is really good -- no complaints there. But the service? Kind of threw me off. We waited in line and not one person acknowledged us. No "Hi," no "We'll be right with you," nothing. Just weird energy. Nevertheless we were hungry after a concert we attended. It was about 11pm, Ordered a double chilli burger and chilli fries. The food hit the spot! Today I decided to try something different and have a Breakfast Burrito at this location. After being greeted very coldly, I began to place my order. Unfortunately they are out of sausage patties today. Being an idea type of guy, I suggested they put a hamburger patty on the burrito instead. The lady told that would be an extra charge. We spent $150 and each time was wrong. We ordered regular cheeseburgers and got chili burgers. The amount of chili that added seemed like a Taco Bell bathroom gone wrong. It did not taste good one bit. Not sure how they're able to use the "world's famous" phrase. Their service is alright but wouldn't say the best. Another trip down memory lane! We were in Long Beach for the weekend and saw this, which caused us to make a left turn for an order of chili cheese fries! As we remember it, greasy chili with tender perfectly cooked fries underneath. And the taste of Tommy's is still there! The three stars is really more about the wait time to order, through the drive through. It was several minutes for sure! When we got up to the window, I only saw two people so asked and he said there were actually three of them. Also said that management won't bring on any additional people so the result is a long line and long wait. Not the employee's fault, blame the management/ownership for wanting to keep costs down I suppose. But you risk losing customers! We saw two cars actually move out of line and drive away. Wasn't my favorite. I was a fan of the Original Tommy's in LA off Rampart. Unfortunately, it seems like the Tommy's recipe and quality varies from location to location. I was craving chili cheese fries and Tommy's is open nice and late. The staff was friendly and they came out relatively quickly, so neither one of those parts was an issue. When I opened the box it was like a bomb went off in there. The fries weren't crispy, the cheese was cheese slices, and the chili was simultaneously greasy and absent of flavor. I'm regrettably writing this bad review solely because of the way I was treated by the 'manager' of this location today. I visited today for the 32oz chili special, advertised on FB and the Tommy's app, and sent through my email. I was immediately told that "we don't have that special", "we never have a chili special like that", and insisted that i show the ad. I told him that I've never had to show the ad, but would this time. Upon showing the FB ad, he said it FAKE. I offered to show the email and he declined, insisting again it was FAKE, and that it's not in the computer. I was aggravated, but never uttered a curse word or called him anything. I said I was calling the corporate office, to which he said " Do what you want to do", and slammed the ordering window screen shut. And I did call, and corporate had to fix it for that employee who should NOT be working there. First, a 'manager' should ALWAYS know what the current specials are. It's not that hard, especially when Tommy's only has a couple promotions going on at any given time. Second, a 'manager' should given the customer benefit of the doubt, and called his manager, or corporate instead of claiming I was trying to use a FAKE advertisement. I would not have written this review but I called and left a message with corp. on 10/4/25 and called again on 10/6/25 because I never got a call back. I called again on 10/9/25 because I did not hear from anyone after being told on 10/6/25 I would get a call. On 10/9/25 I did speak with someone from corp. I tried calling no one picked up so I drive back my order was taken at 6p.m I returned around 7 p.m. I get to the window this young mgr. come to the window I tell him the problem hand him the bag and give him my order number. He then ask me if I have a receipt which I do I asked him if he could pull it up by the order number. He then tells me that it is my place to keep the receipt I am thinking it is your job to get the order right. I give him the receipt and ask him to you really think that I have to lie about a burger that is in your bag. he says yes people lie I am not sure if it was the color of my skin or the people that come to this location . I was going to have them remake the burger I explained that I had to drive 20 miles to bring the burger back and another to get home I asked what can you do for the mistake he said remake the burger because of he was so rude I asked for a refund oh when he saw my receipt he said one burger as if one burger was an insult but he did not bother to offer me one free burger for the mistake not even a soda. he then gave me the bag back with the wrong burger I said I asked for a refund as if he did not hear me. Hubbers was in the mood for their one-of-a-kind chili burgers but didn't want to trek all the way to Westlake or the now (as we recently learned) defunct location in Santa Monica. With Yelp to the rescue, we learned the closest location from where we were is here or Huntington Park. This location was further, but we opted for it since the drive was easier. And the drive was easy. What made it more pleasant is that it wasn't busy on a mid-day Saturday. There was only one customer ahead of us already waiting for his order and maybe a couple of cars at the drive thru. It was a simple order to-go: 2 cheeseburgers, one burger, 2 chili dogs, 2 chili cheese fries. (This is for a party of 6.) But for whatever reason, the cashier had trouble with getting our order right. When repeating the order, she forgot the dogs. At her second attempt, she forgot the fries. She had to repeat the whole thing at least two more times after that to get it right. It wasn't long before we got our order and went on our way. Hubbers mentioned he should have ordered another cheeseburger "for later" as he looked through our box of goodies. It's a good thing he did and it's a good thing we hadn't driven too far because he noticed the fries were missing. We checked our receipt and sure enough, this particular order wasn't there. We opted for the drive thru when we returned. Two cars ahead of us. And for whatever reason, it took 20 for us to put in our order, then another ten minutes before we got our missing food and off on our way home. There were no customers at the window, so I'm not sure what the delay was about. The packaging was great because even with the time getting home, the food somehow stayed warm. It is as expected: Tommy's really does have that specific taste exclusive to them. The one thing I love about their chili is that it contains no beans. The portion of food isn't too big either so having the chili burger didn't make me feel like I was overstuffed. FOOD: 5. It is as expected. Most important is that Hubbers is happy the food hit his hunger spot. SERVICE: 2. But I'm hoping the cashier's wellness is okay since it's highly unusual not to get the order right despite repeating it multiple times. VALUE: 3. PARKING: Private parking with only a couple of spots. Street parking also available. OVERALL: 3.25. It's not something I normally crave. The trip was for Hubbers mostly, but overall an okay run. Everyone else in the household enjoyed their goodies.
