You really can't go wrong with In-N-Out. It's one of those places that I think is consistently good, no matter what I'm ordering. On my most recent visit, we made a late-night drive-thru run specifically for milkshakes. We ordered one vanilla shake and two Neapolitan shakes. Of course they were the perfect way to satisfy a late-night craving. One thing I really appreciate about In-N-Out is the price. In a time when fast food prices (and everything else) keep climbing, it's refreshing to find a place that still offers quality food and shakes at reasonable prices. I get the fries well done to make them crispy. I also get no extra salt added on anything. The regular burger with a whole grilled onion is very good. I always get a side of pickles. I wished their meat patty was bigger. I always end up with some bun leftover. It is usually loud and/or busy, even after 10pm. Service was good and parking is plentiful. read more

As soon as you step out of your car, take a "SNIFFF" and immediately, the smell of burgers on the grill and fries in the deep fryer slaps you in the face! When we come out to the West Coast, an In-N-Out Double-Double is a must. 2 beef patties x 2 cheese slices with lettuce, tomatoes, onions & pickles on a bun is your basic Double-Double. If you ask for Animal Style, your patties will be grilled in mustard, chopped grilled onions & topped with extra "spread" (like McD special sauce). Ordering the Flying Dutchman will get you bare patties & cheese and Protein Style will replace the bun with lettuce wrap. A Grilled Cheese will eliminate the meat and Veggie Burger with just veggies on a bun. A Scooby Snack will get you a single patty. Now for the fries. They cut them fresh from whole potatoes on a fry cutter mounted to the wall. Insert potato, ram the handle down, instant shoestring fries ready for the fryer. I want that job. If you order Fries Well Done, they will fry them until crispy. That's how I like them now because their regular fries are too limp. Animal Fries gets melted cheese topped with grilled onions & spread. I switch off between a regular Double-Double and Animal Style and my wife likes it Protein Style, though Animal Protein Style is also a thing, but it's extra messy. One of these days I might go for a 4x4 (4 patties + 4 cheese) or maybe 5x5...10x10?? Useless Tip: Most In-N-Outs are standalone stores, usually on the outskirts of shopping malls or strip malls. Warning: Do not use this drive thru. It is the worst fast food drive thru I have ever experienced. Getting in is a car accident hazard. Finding where the line starts is an adventure to say the least. She took my order from the passenger side so I was basically screaming at her and she didn't take that as a social cue to move to the drivers side. She heard my dog barking in the car and was appalled, stepped back and gave me a dirty look. She corrected me after I said "animal fries" and called it something else...overall it was a terrible experience. My cashier was much lovelier and kinder. This isn't location-specific, but I love that you have options for the preparation of onions on a burger -- ask for them grilled to try something new! And yes... If you come at the peak of mealtimes, there's gonna be a wait! It's normal and common sense that it will be busy around noon-2pm and 6-8pm. I've been waiting to rate this in N out but it seems they do not learn from their mistakes, I get coffee here twice a week sometimes 3 times a week drive thru is never ready, I've also walked in had to wait for them to brew the coffee which flakes about 5 minutes, the only reason a person gets a coffee on their way is for the commodity of just stop and grab fast but don't here they never have it brewed. they also never have condiments ready they always have to go to the bank to get it. my quick stop for a coffee always end up wasting about 8 minutes of my time. A great location for that Double Double fix. It is clean, the staff is courteous, and the drive thru moves really fast. The area has a lot of students and a nearby homeless presence, so sometimes there can some interesting characters inside, but overall the place is safe and the drive thru is chill. The food is very consistent. The drive thru can get a little hectic and snakes through the parking lot in an inconvenient way. You can end up blocking in someone who parked in a regular parking space if you are not careful. Even with the above, there is still plenty of parking, wide streets, and it is located in a safe area. I am a big fan of In-N-Out but lately this particular location is overwhelmed and cannot seem to be able to deal with it. The drive thru lines have always been long but recently there have been a line of cars around dinner time all the way out to Ximeno. The person taking your order is now all the way out to Dave's Hot Chicken. As a result I am now putting in my order 20 minutes before I reach the window and my order has been sitting on a counter getting cold for the last 15 minutes. My burger is not hot and the fries barely warm at all. Last couple of times the "pay window" is no longer in play and payment is taken at the last window. When I asked as to the reason why I was told that it was an effort to get the cars thru faster. Yeah well that is obviously not working very well. read more
