Finding ourselves in the area we decided to take the Original Roadhouse for a test drive over lunch. We were met by Craven who also served as our waiter. We found him energetic and unabashed at giving his opinion as to what he'd recommend (or not) based on what he liked. The restaurant is big although sectioned off as best we could tell. We clearly missed the crowds having gotten there around 1400. That said, Craven offered us a table of our choice in the bar area. As one would expect, the menu has an emphasis on meat and we weren't going to argue. My wife chose a ribeye which came with two sides. She decided on coleslaw and fries. Although she was asked how she wanted her steak - medium rare - it came out a solid medium. Despite that misstep it was pretty tasty. The fries are frozen but reasonably good as well. The coleslaw was bland in my opinion. My wife was more favorably impressed. I ordered the ribeye sandwich which came with fries. The sandwich is served on a soft bun so it came apart before I got it done so although it was good, it was also messy. We weren't overly impressed but I can't say it was a bad experience. Punitive deficits include items being overpriced. My wife's steak was $27.99 and my sandwich was a whopping $17.99. Had the portions been larger (I'm looking at you, fries) and the steak prepared as ordered, I'd feel better about the pricing. Also, at $2.99 each, I'd have expected to be offered refills on our iced tea. We were not. They do offer peanuts in the shell at the tables and soft rolls with whipped butter to start (which are delish). Happily, they take Apple Pay at the table, and I really liked that. All done and said, this would be a 3 1/2 star review so I am giving them the benefit of the doubt and scoring the Original Roadhouse Grill 4 stars. As always, your mileage may vary but I can recommend them if you're in the area with an appetite. read more

When we sat down for dinner there were crumbs of bread all over my seat, the table was sticky and there was some random plastic stuff still sitting there. We ordered drinks and I asked for a dirty vodka martini, not only was it tiny but I think it was a glass of straight vermouth. I figured maybe the bartender was new so I didn't sent the drink back but let the server know that it didn't taste at all like a martini and I mentioned how a martini should be made for my second. The second one was also horrible so I sent that one back and just asked for a lemon drop. That one was fine but also really small for the price. I ordered a ribeye at a medium rare-medium (135°) and he asked for his rare. Both steaks came out super fast and were cooked to the exact same temp as you can see from the photo. We have been there three times now. We like to give a place a few tries before we rate for consistency sake, food quality, and service. Sadly, The Roadhouse Grill just doesn't make the grade. Had steak all three visits now. The meat quality just isn't there. They were cooked about as well as could be expected, but the quality is so poor that their steaks are almost inedible. Can't fault the kitchen staff. They're doing the best they can with what they have to work with. I would like to think that there are possible some other items on the menu that I might like to eat, but this place purports to be a steakhouse, so I have a certain expectation. We have given up on The Roadhouse Grill. Others may be OK with this quality of food, but at these prices, I'm going to require a piece of meat that I can actually chew. Ambience is decent. This is one worn out restaurant We ate lunch and ordered hamburgers and sweet potatoes. The potatoes were not hot and seemed warmed up from the night before and so were the hamburger patties. Dry and lukewarm not hot off the grill. Not my first time here, but may be my last. Used napkin on seat when brought to table. Was not removed (until I flicked it to the floor). Ive ordered the steak salad when I've come several times before. First off..salad has gotten much smaller while the price is almost 19.00!! I always ask for the vinaigrette to be removed. It was not. This is the second time in a row this has happened. I brought this to the servers attention and she said she "made sure" they didnt.. sitting by the kitchen..she didn't watch. What server does? Clearly there was vinaigrette tossed with salad as a lite brown oily liquid was pooled at the bottom of my plate when I moved the salad to the side. Server said it might be a seasoning on the steak. Okay..offend my sense of taste now. As for the steak on my salad. OVERCOOKED, TOUGH and flavorless. Ate less than half of the steak. Suffered through the puckery salad part since apparently having it remade wasn't even an option. I Left what was left on the plate for waitress to take. I mentioned the steak. She said she would have the kitchen look at it. Next thing you know..server was back asked if we want desert (no) then here is the check. Steak salad on there. To be clear, I wasn't trying to get anything comped or free BUT a remake of what I wanted (and expected from other times) and PAID FOR would have been nice. I was in the service industry for MANY years. I understand the front and back of the house (restraunts). This was VERY much a disappointment in customer concerns. I hadn't been here since they remodeled a couple years ago. The place was dead on a Friday at lunch time.... strange. I was seated in the bar area and given a bucket peanuts. I guess so I could throw the shells on the floor... That's the thing here. :-) First thing I noticed was how extremely cold it was. I move down a little it was still cold. Thank goodness I had to grabbed a sweatshirt. I ordered an ice tea and the grilled steak salad. The salad showed up and the steak on it was minimal with pure fat and gristle. I pointed it out and the waitress immediately took it back to the kitchen. Ten minutes later came back with a real piece of steak. The steak was off and strangely didn't taste like beef. Not sure how that happens! Unfortunately I couldn't eat it. For $14.99 I think they could've done much better than just iceberg lettuce with a couple green pieces on top, hard-boiled egg, a few bacon bits, tomato's and shreds of cheese. Started off with something as simple as their bacon bits on the salad... they were literally pieces of rubber. Not even rubbery meat but rubbery fat. Disgusting. I ordered the tri tip salad, seems simple enough but they managed to make that taste like trash. My husbands ribs were primarily fat. My boyfriend and I wanted to try this place cause it was in a convenient spot and the host sat us near the kitchen at a booth and immediately we were hearing the kitchen staff so I decided to move to the booth that was a little further away, I work at a restaurant so I know how sections work and that's why I moved to a similar spot, after we moved the hostess came back to us in a very fast and rude way and said "the next time you want to move let me know cause this table is dirty" and I said oh I'm sorry could you wipe it for us and she laughed and walked away :( not very nice and a horrible first impression, after that she continued to stare at us and laugh and Pointed at us to show the other hostesses and we had to tell our waitress we didn't feel comfortable and wanted to leave. I don't recommend this place because just a little bit ago my family and I decided to go there for like a New year's dinner and as soon as we walked in, the service was already bad. A lady that worked there was giving a dirty look and staring mad hard for no reason, then a guy who attended us and walked us to the table got mad because we wanted to sit on a booth table instead of a table. If you have a peanut allergy, STAY AWAY for your own health and safety! There are free peanuts everywhere, and patrons are encouraged by the staff (and the staff will do it if the patrons won't) to throw the shells on the floor. Aside from this, the food is average. The menu is big, the prices are reasonable, and they can accommodate large groups of people. If you want good food, look elsewhere. If you want a kitschy atmosphere in which you can literally be a slob, the Original Roadhouse is just the ticket. read more

The bread at the table was warm and butter was great. It goes down hill after this. Had a 6oz sirloin rare but the center was cold. Little to no flavor. Baked beans were sickening sweet. My partner had tri-tip with bbq sauce with pulled pork bathed with bbq sauce- all he could taste was sweetness- nasty. The French fries were limp - the opposite of crispy- inedible. Got them home and one had no bacon, the other had five flakes of bacon, each had less than a tablespoon of shredded cheese, each had five medium shrimp. $28 for the two salads. Pretty rough experience here. Server was very friendly and took us to seats pretty quickly. Menu was pretty strait forward and I ordered the catfish with a side of mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. Upon receiving my food everything was very bland. The mac had little to no flavor along with the potatoes being dry and flavorless as well. The catfish was so burnt and chard I could hardly eat it.
