Poutine had almost no gravy (dug to the bottom hoping it would show up but it, in fact, did not). Club sandwich had onions so bitter they made my eyes water (I LOVE onions so that's pretty tough to do with me) and the lettuce was nasty. I've tried this place multiple times because the first time I went it was an instant fave, but if the service doesn't totally suck because they are blatantly rude, then the food is trash. This is a nice spot for a quick burger, and if Mike's working it will come out absolutely perfect! I split the Kobe burger with my partner and we asked for medium rare and he delivered! Plus they have my favorite Cider Boys Strawberry cider in a bottle. They also serve their own version of Poutine and the black pepper gravy is a tasty touch. Food was good. But from a covid-19 safety standpoint, this place is living on the edge. I got the feeling I was in a place owned and operated by anti maskers for sure. the whole time I was eating there was an old man walking around without a mask, and he was coughing and hacking. I think he worked there. As a tourist and visitor, I am definitely sensitive to restaurants in shops where proprietors are not properly observing the safety procedures. I've found most ofthe Portland area to be very covid-19 safety compliant, but for some reason I got the feeling I was in an anti-mask zone while eating here. read more

Conclusion: If you're a cute guy the service is terrific; if you present as a female, accompanied or not by a male, apparently saliva's the go-to form of hydration. To be clear: only one's own; they don't offer saliva as a beverage; one may surmise this because that would create the unwanted workload of "offering a beverage" to all customers. We found this place on Yelp so we decided to try it. The atmosphere was surprisingly not bistro like but like a neighborhood bar. Wasn't sure if we were going to stay but we decided to give it a shot. The menu was mostly sandwiches etc. One of us ordered a cheeseburger and I had the club sandwich touted "as big as your face". It indeed was that big. I could only eat only half of it in one sitting. They also have a full bar, though it's not mentioned on their web page. Nevertheless, great food and service. I went into jackpot bistro after seeing pictures of their food. And let me tell you it did not disappoint! I had the signature clubhouse and omg it was huge and amazing. I don't know where they get their artisan sourdough bread but it is fantastic. The sandwich was full of bacon, Turkey, ham, lettuce, tomato... and served with some of the best french fries I've ever had, they were the spicy house fries, hot, crispy and so delicious. Sam, our server is fabulous. Charming and smilles as he helped with our food order and exceptions. I had a club sandwich with only 2 sluces of bread. Mark had the Kobe cheeseburger, no lettuce. I got a side of their creamy pepper bourbon gravy (that usually goes on their poutine.) Yum!! Dipped our excellent seasoned fries in it. Leftover gravy will go on our grilled asparagus for Easter. Remember 5 stars! But I think if you walked into Jackpot Bistro with no prior knowledge you would probably turn around and leave. This place, to put it nonchalantly, is a "gambling den". It has very sparse decor and even sparser tables. It's mainly slot machines that dead-eyed patrons man until the oblivion finally takes them. I promise you though if you follow my advice this will be a wonderful experience: Order Pick Up. My fiancé and I have gone to Jackpot loads of times and only have sat down once, while everyone was very nice the atmosphere can be kind of a downer, but my god the true gem is their food. Get the Kobe burger. Get the fries. Because they're insane. Literally one of the best burgers I've ever had (medium rare baby!) and those thick, crunchy yet mashed-potato-centered fries are just unbeatable. Everything I've had there is delicious, I'm sure gambling is a good enough reason to go there, but absolutely stay for the food. read more

We had fried cheese curds with marinara sauce, a Kobe Bacon Blue Burger with side of their creamy pepper bourbon gravy (that goes on their poutine). Place is deceptively great, looks like a video poker bar on the outside which it kind of is, but its really nice on the inside only a few video poker machines in one corner, the bar is really nice and the food is cheap and amazing. I used uber eats the first time and was super impressed, went back today in person it was great again. No kids allowed ever, give it a shot if you are skeptical, fully worth it. If this place revamped their exterior they would be flooded with non-poker playing food customers. read more

You would never know from the outside that this place is anything more then a lottery bar, but OMGOSH, the food, atmosphere and the staff were awesome!! YEAH, Yeah they have lottery machines but hey I put $20 in and cashed out for $100!! But back to the food, My hubby and I split the Kobe burger with Swiss cheese and ordered the small side salad with their in house blue cheese, that came out first. It was a good mix of greens and spinach, red onion, grape tomatoes, cheddar and house made croutons. Delish Then the juicy Kobe burger with all the basic trimmings came out already split on two plates with their amazing (maybe the best Ive ever had) well seasoned house made fries and fry sauce! Still a fantastic place to eat. I'm upping my review to 5/5, because the food is still great, and they added an option to still get their Jackpot fries. I was sad when they started giving plain curly fries with all meals, so paying $2 extra to get the fries I loved back is fine with me. Every business has to find a way to make a profit to pay their employees and keep their doors open. Jackpot still has food that rivals many of the best places around town, so give them your business at least once! They're worth a try! read more

First off they are getting away from their mainly gluten free menu. One of the main reasons we come here. It seems to be in flux right now. They do still offer gluten free buns and bread. We were the only diners and our food took a long time. I tried the new PBJ burger. Peanut butter, spicy jam, cheese and bacon in a gluten free bun for $16 plus $2 for gf bun. Burger was way to sweet, the amount of PB totally overpowers all other flavors. Really needs something to cut the sweetness, maybe some cream cheese. Curly fries were crispy but over cooked Friend tried the Club on gf bread. When you get a sandwich on gf bread they give you 2 sandwiches to make up for slightly smaller bread. She got 2 sandwiches at least 5 inches high filled with stuff. She ate one took the other one home. TIP..... even if you're not gluten free get a sandwich on gf bread. The bread is pretty tasty and you literally get another sandwich for the $2 gf up charge. If we go back I'll skip the burger and stick with a sandwich. read more

Just discovered this gem. From the outside, the looks are deceiving, but just step in the door. Overlook the video slot machines and enjoy the fabulously unique decor. Love the rustic wood and metal bar. The menu will blow you away; it's a full fledge bistro menu with variety and class. Now for the best part: the food. Our party had fish and chips- huge slabs of cod beautifully battered and served with condiments and a "log cabin" stack of hand cut fries that will knock your socks off. Two of us had the club sandwich and neither eater is a lightweight, but both had to take home half their sandwich and fries. The elk burger!!!! Don't shy away because you've not had elk (or had it improperly prepared) as it is so tender and juicy you'll think you're eating the best Kobe beef ever. Oh, they have that, too! Service was outstanding, the chefs were approachable and exquisitely trained. This place is a must, enjoy it all, right down to the napkin wrapped utensils tied up with a little twine bow. It was late at night when we decided to stop in; the surrounding fast food locations closed. It's small inside but very cozy. We didn't think much when we ordered the food, we're in a bar. But then it came out, fish and chips and steak bites covered in gravy with fries on the side. I don't think I've picked my jaw up off the floor yet, I'm so impressed. Jackpot is one of those places that if you want a good, simple burger then this is where you go to. Simple burger and good meat aside, the prices don't necessarily stand up to the quality when there are so many other places for burgers around. When you're paying $14 for a burger and fries it better be one of the best burgers you've ever had. I'll admit, Jackpot's burgers really do excel and their fries are some of the best fries I have locally had in the area since I've moved out here. Paying $2 to add Bacon to a burger though is beyond steep. While the prices are steep, you DO get what you pay for at Jackpot. The burger and fries were more than enough food for me. I'm a 6'2" and 270-pound dude so it tends to take a lot to fill me up. If you're in the area, Jackpot is worth checking out, but with so many other options within a 15-minute drive it doesn't seem likely that I'll make many frequent stops here. I'd much rather save a few bucks and go somewhere that's just a little bit further for the same quality of food. read more
