Empanada 7/10 the chimichurri made it an 8.5/10 The tinga chicken and cheese were the best out of all the empanada flavors they had to choose from. What a jewel! We came to this restaurant because of the name Empanadas. We were expecting Latin American food. We were surprised that this was a fusion restaurant and the empanadas had more of a Syrian twist Sambusek (so?). What luck to enjoy such delicious food. We started with the cauliflower cashew soup. It was rich, smooth and flavorful. The flatbread served on the side was warm and filling. We then tried the chicken tikka empanadas. Different from the Salvadoran styles we have tried in the past. It was full of mead that was moist but not greasy. I later found out that the beef empanadas and the cheese empanadas were more traditionally Syrian. They also were delicious and the dipping sauces were great. Lastly the Summer Salad was fresh, unique with candied pistachios, peaches, avocados and whatever else was fresh. The dressing was tasty. The owner was friendly, helped with suggestions and welcoming. We will definitely be back. I'm just sad that it is not located where we live in Sonoma County California. A well-deserved four star review for this hole in the wall. Recommended by a friend, we stopped in here for lunch. G/f ordered the seared Ahi sando, I ordered the hummus plate. And baklava for dessert. This food was excellent. In fact, both offerings were large enough that we ended up splitting the sandwich and taking the hummus plate home to split - successfully - for dinner. And the owner was so initially concerned that there was a problem that he comped ice cream on our baklava. Ok...so minor things...no free water, only bottled. That's fine but should have that option available. And due to the nature of our order and coming in at lunch time, this wasn't a quick to the table meal. No worries - we're patient. This place has been open for a bit now and my daughter had been trying to get me to take her, but I had not been in until today. That was a mistake on my part, because I should've been eating here the whole time. Inside is nice and clean. Lots of two-tops and a couple fours. Not a huge place but plenty of seating. Ordering is done at the counter and they bring it out to your table. Food was amazing, truly loved my meal. It's the best meal I've had in a good while. Everything is very fresh tasting, my salad was awesome, the empanadas were perfect. EVERYTHING WE GOT HERE WAS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. Tony was a great soul, so nice. We got the fried chicken club, which for a basic sandwich was spectacular. This is our third time eating here. The restaurant is extremely clean. Each time we have been greeted warmly by the host and she has checked in after receiving food. Pastrami sandwich is one of the best sandwiches in all of Portland, definitely one of my favorite meals in town. We've also had the tri-tip and the prime rib, both were amazing too but the tri-tip had a nice bright flavor with the delicious aioli and peppers. After reading multiple Yelp recommendations I decided to try it for myself. It's in a strip mall off stark and 242nd. Lots of parking and ease of entry for wheelchairs. We've been meaning to come here for a while. Because the place looks intriguing and well organized. We finally made it in and it's as clean and organized on the inside as it is on the outside.
