    Korean Fried Chicken lunch plate
    Nathan E.

FANTASTIC!!! Food is so fresh and delicious, you HAVE to try it if you are on your way back from a hike in the gorge or maybe staying at edgefield. The best islander food you can get in the area. I will absolutely be back.

Go here!! Had the fried chicken and the short ribs lunch plates. Tasty sauces, perfect portions, great price. Not usually a Big Mac salad fan but theirs had a unique and tasty sauce as well. Side salad/slaw is citrusy and herby and delicious. Highly recommend.

I absolutely love the food from this food truck. I definitely recommend the Korean fried chicken if you like spicy. The chicken has just the perfect crispness with the right amount of kick, not to mention the flavor. The cilantro salad is one of my all-time favorites. It's so refreshing and not too heavy for a side. The service is always great, and the people working there are super friendly. The ambiance is great too, since it's at the Wayfinder in Troutdale, where they have a variety of food trucks and a beer selection inside the brewery.

Wow!! I can confidently say that this is THE best food I've ever eaten from a food truck. Everything, and I mean everything I put I my mouth was so flavorful and well thought out. These people know what they are doing and take pride in what they create! The portions were generous and beautifully packaged to go and the service was attentive and so kind, she threw in a few extra sauces for good measure because it was my first visit. That is above and beyond. Well deserved 5 stars I will be daydreaming about this meal until I return!

So good! They're working on a Spring menu right now, but you can still get a plate with shoyu chicken, kahlua pork or Korean fried chicken + rice, Mac salad and citrus salad (coleslaw). The two meat plate is a no-go right now. They have 2 vegetarian options with tofu and soy curls, but they were out of soy curls when we visited. My 8-year-old got the kid plate. She loved her chicken! The Mac salad isn't your typical Mac salad, because it's elevated with lulu sauce, and has a kick on the back end. The citrus salad was amazing. Totally worth getting a side of the sauces. The service was just fine, and we seemed to be their last order before running out. They ran out of drinks other than sprite and coke, and a few food items, then popped a "sold out!" sign on after we ordered. If you want to come here and have the option of their entire menu, you'd better make it an early trip. The vibe here is very chill, with various seating options indoors and outdoors. I'd been here a few times and mostly ate upstairs. What an awesome addition to the area. Troutdale is happy you're here!

Food was spectacular genuinely the best macaroni salad I had in a long time. Everything was so flavorful. Fast service! Connected to other food trucks.

This food was so good and the portions aligned with the pricing. We will definitely be back for the fried chicken.

Nope. Nope...This is absolutely not Hawaiian food. This is a…read morecomplete mockery of Hawaiian food. To begin with, the mac was DRY. Yes, dry. Any Islander knows, Hawaiian mac is super buttery and creamy. This stuff was barely more than elbow noodles with mayo. And as for their Kalua pork... holy moly... I hope you enjoy disgusting cabbage water, because they do not flash-steam their cabbage and then set the shredded pork on top. No, they literally cook the cabbage to death like a poor Irishman from 1850, then scoop it into the box along with at least a cup of nasty cabbage water with it. The musubi was forgettable at best, with far too little glaze for the size of the musubi. And they were $4 each ($8, as you must purchase 2), which is bonkers expensive for spam, rice, a little glaze, and nori-wrap. Finally: This is nothing more than plain, overcooked crockpot pork, as that is exactly how it tasted. No island spices could be detected whatsoever in any bite. If they ever added any spices, they were likely washed off in all of that foul crockpot water. Ultimately this was a big pile of shredded pork and cabbage goop in a box with plain rice and worse-than-average mac salad. I promise -- you could make Hawaiian food far better at home as a complete novice, even if it didn't turn out very good. Yuck. So fricken gross.

But today, I had the time to swing by and fortunately he was open, but SOLD OUT. Fortunately, he had a few things left over. So I said yes to a mix plate. Nolan's Hawaii accent is still thick it made me feel like I was back home on the west side for a second (!!!!thank you!!!!) I met some people outside the food stand, a business man from Hawaii and some California people I mistaken were from Hawaii as well, lol. It was an awesome interaction, from the moment I got there I got greeted by strangers waiting for food, to going up to the window and asking "so what? No more nuttin left?" Nolan's response was "Nah I only get mochicko chicken and kalua, you likem?" Haha that was a definite yes! Won't miss out on home food esp if word of mouth was already out there. So I waited a few minutes for my food, and the box was heavy. Haha it felt like when you would eat at your aunty and uncles house and they pack you the party left overs. I opened my plate lunch and I was greeted by a huge portion of chicken, pork rice and Mac salad. And let me tell you, the Mac salad didn't have so much frills like what you would see in a Portland Hawaii food joint. It was sauced, and seasoned. PERFECT! No need for all the extra add ons. As I started eating, let me say that kalua pork was no joke so moist and easy to eat not even close to dried out. The chicken tasted nice and crispy with just enough marinate and fluff. I haven't found this anywhere in Oregon..until here. Yeah sure there's a poke and katsu bar in the shopping center next door... but I take the random food cart in the parking lot any day over something franchised

My only minor gripe was that it leaned a touch salty but it didn't detract much from an otherwise really tasty bowl. They had one special menu and the manapua man noodles and gaugee caught my eye. That's like the perfect combo. But we skipped out on gaugee and got the manapua man noodles. Wish the options for the additions was one fried chicken but instead it was either pork belly or sweet sour chicken. Which isn't usually the kind of combo I would get. Especially if you label it manapua man noodles. The noodles tasted more like fried noodle / fried saimin style since it was cooked on a wok. I do miss the simplicity of a manapua noodle where you dress it with shoyu and sirracha. But these noodles weren't bad. They were super flavorful. Portion was huge! My husband said he could've gone without the pork belly. The pork belly was meh. The noodles tho, ono! I also went with the japolo chicken and kalbi combo, which is my go to. Kalbi is saucy and so flavorful! The chicken is nice and crispy. My only thing is that my plate was swimming in sauce. And when it touches the rice, it's a no for me. Wish had some buffer like cabbage to catch the sauce. Other than that, food is always ono here. Service is also friendly and the place is nice and clean with lots of seating!

Currently listed at $15, it comes with double rice, double mac, a slice of pineapple, pulled pork, beef ribs, and barbecue chicken. The Big Kahuna is probably the best value on the menu. For me personally, it's big enough to split, or to feed me for a whole day. While I loved the Big Kahuna, I'm not really a big fan of pulled pork. The third time I came in, I ordered the Ginger Beef. I liked it, but honestly not as much as any of the three meats that came with the Big Kahuna. The next two times, I ordered the large teriyaki chicken with extra sauce, to go. The flavor is basic in the best way possible. It's not necessarily interesting or innovative, but is exactly what I expect when I think of good teriyaki chicken. It's tender, flavorful, and perfectly charred. The pulled pork tastes like it was cooked in a slow cooker, or via some kind of process that took a very long time. It just falls apart in your mouth. The rice and mac are also plain in the best way possible. Traditional and plain, but still perfectly done. This has become my favorite lunch spot in Hood River. It's hard to not eat here every day.

One piece had a slightly acrid taste, probably over smoked, but the rest was solid. The rice was standard. The mac salad was chilled, creamy, and well balanced--mayo-based with shreds of carrot, bits of green onion, and a light touch of pepper. Overall, a classic Hawaiian plate lunch.
