Special shout out to the kitchen staff for big multitasking energy: watching the game, closing out the place, and firing out some amazing food. Wilder's near-close happy hour offerings were both tasty and generous. Cocktails featured offerings from local distillers that yielded complex flavors but nothing that was "trying too hard" to be artisanal. Also Made my date's night that they were using polenta as a bun.

Fiance and I decided to celebrate our 8 year anniversary at Wilder because we saw Steak Tartare on…read moretheir menu and knew we had to come try it! We walked in at about 6:30pm on a Wednesday night and was kind of greeted by one of the servers. She wasn't too friendly and seemed to be irritated that we said we'd wait for a table as opposed to sitting at the bar. Once seated, that same server came over to try to take our orders and once again seemed irritated that we weren't ready to order. Luckily, another server took over from there and we had a pleasant anniversary meal the rest of the time! Here's everything we tried: Devilish Eggs - This came with 4 deviled eggs and was just okay. The crispy bacon pieces was the best part of this dish! Steak Tartare - This was the main reason we chose this restaurant and we were definitely not disappointed! We spent our first anniversary together in Europe and had so much tartare and this really brought back some wonderful memories for us. The tartare was rich and mustardy, beef flavor was great, and it sort of just melted in your mouth. The crispy chips paired well with the tartare and I can't wait to come back and have this again! Mussels - This was a big bowl of mussels in a white wine garlic sauce with toasted baguettes. Mussels tasted fresh and garlicky with just a bit of funk from whatever cheese they grated on top. The toasted baguettes were so good dipped into that white wine broth. I wish this dish came with skinny fries but it was also so good as is. Would definitely order this again! Field Greens - I asked for this to come out with my meal but it came out about 10 minutes before the entrees came out. It was very light and refreshing. I saved half to have with my meal but most of it was wilted already by the time our mains came out. But it's okay! The fried chicken actually had a small portion of this salad on its plate. I wouldn't have ordered this had I known, so next time will skip the side salad altogether! Fried chicken - I really wanted to like this dish but alas, fried chicken breast is very hard to make juicy. I definitely prefer dark meat because that's harder to mess up. My partner enjoyed it but he doesn't mind dry chicken. The sauces were phenomenal! That mustard sauce was great and the sweet glaze was delicious! The potatoes would have been a lot better if they were smaller to get more of that crust to creamy potato ratio but still okay the way it was. My fiance cleaned this plate up! Brown Butter Cake - This cake was phenomenal! It's hard to mess anything with Brown Butter up so I had really high expectations for this and they certainly did not disappoint. The server was nice enough to throw candles on it since we were celebrating and it really ended our meal on the sweetest note! The restaurant itself is small and cozy. A bit dark and romantic. It really reminded me of the small bistros in France that we frequented while we were out there. We'll definitely be back to try other things on the menu!

Maybe, back when the children were younger, we would stop here a few times, when it was A & W. With that said, today was the first time we actually stopped for brunch! We thought, it was new, since it was packed, and it's a sight you'd see, when someone is having a Grand Opening. It's not often, you see restaurants in my neighborhood, packed during lunch hour specially on a Sunday. I was told, by our waiter, they've been opened for 3 years, and they're consistent with customers. (That is a good thing, right?) I didn't have BLT with today's soup, Chicken Noodle Soup, when hubby did, so I ordered that. Hubby ordered the Denver Omelette. Served with Hash Browns, one pancake (we shared) and a slice of bacon. See photo of my BLT. It's so thick, 1/4th of the sandwich was wide enough for my mouth to take a bite. I was so pleased with this restaurant, the service, handling of a large crowd, with very little wait, 40 mins. wait for your food, it's not that bad, they made up for good quantity and quality of food! Planning to bring my luncheon group here, in 2027. Thank you!

I really liked the pancakes, the blueberries are cooked in and the cornmeal real made them delicious. The chicken fried steak was nice and the gravy was unique with a mustard base. The biscuit was perfect. The bad: I had a fork full of pancakes and pulled a hair out of my mouth. That was NOT tasty. The endless coffee. They had 2 pump coffee dispensers. One was empty, they brought over a full one when asked. I filled mugs one each out of different dispensers. No clean spoons to stir with. Both mugs of coffee were cold, even from the new dispenser. They promptly worked at getting new coffee. When it was done, I filled my mugs, still no clean spoons. I asked for spoons and they were provided. Later I wondered how long the milk had been sitting there. When I asked the coffee guy about the milk he said they change it every day. I told him I was concerned that it may not be good, he said something to the effect of yeah I understand. I didn't see it checked or replaced. I grew up in Portland, but live out of town. I don't think I will be coming back to this place.

(ish) Being before midday, the menu was biased towards breakfast. I however was in the mood for lunch. After contemplation, I settled on the fried catfish and fries. The coleslaw side was not going it for me, so I subbed the grits and cheese. My server was beyond delightful. She offered very helpful suggestions on my beverage, and we discussed how difficult it was to make fried catfish. When my meal arrived, I was not disappointed at all . It was exceptional. I grew up in Texas and much of my home cuisine was heavily influenced by the South, and catfish was usually what was served if there was fried fish. This did not disappoint. The catfish was light and flaky, very moist. The corn meal breading was thin and tasty, and the house-made tartar sauce was just the perfect complement. The fries were extra crispy and fresh from the fryer, a delightful combination. And the cheese grits were heavenly - creamy and rich. I savored them throughout the meal. Having eaten frequently at the other two locations, the ambience here was similar to the Pearl location, but in an airport. Very open, very airy, open to the Concourse on two side sides. I am most frequently at the other end of the airport, but anytime I am on the B/C and, and have time for a meal? I will definitely be back!

We were promptly greeted and seated, our servers were friendly and attentive, and the space was comfortable and cozy. One thing we did note both visits was there were a lot of little flies that we had to swat away from our meal. Not a fan of that, but hopefully they can take care of that by the time we make it back to Portland. ;) Their menu is extensive, offering many gluten free options. They also offer eggs if you prefer that over tofu. We only got to try their breakfast items, but I'd love to come back for lunch! First visit: Breakfast burito: 10/10. From flavor of the herb tofu to the portion (perfect to share between the two of us), everything about this burrito was perfect and all we could have wanted. Basic B waffle: 7/10. I can appreciate that the waffles are all GF. The blue cornmeal made as a good base, but I felt a little underwhelmed, but can't quite put a finger on what could have made it better. Second visit: Biscuits & gravy: 8/10. with GF bisuit and tofu scramble. A winning combo! The biscuit was on the dryer side, but the gravy did its job. The scramble tasted a little off, so a bit bummed about the inconsistency. Blue plate: 9/10. The non GF biscuit was much better. My wife ate this one and she was very happy with her meal. All in all, super happy with our meals here. Would 1000% recommend and plan to return again!
