First time eating at Ate-Oh-Ate. The inside was nice, clean and we were welcomed as we entered. All of the food we ordered was just fine, nothing exceptional. The prices were very reasonable. We'd come back in the right situation but would not go out of my way.

I've walked by here every 6 weeks for the last 3 years and thought to myself that I should try it...well I finally did and I'm sad I waited so long to do it. I had the chicken katsu with rice and mac salad. It. Was. Bomb! I didn't really like the katsu sauce because it was a bit too sweet for me but the teriyaki sauce though...omg...the mac salad was also delish. The service was great and the inside of the restaurant is really cute.

I was bringing food home for the family so I was waiting on answers of what each person wanted (which can get quite annoying) but the lovely hostess who took my order was beyond patient and helpful, even suggesting a drink I hadn't tried yet (Taro with Tapioca pearls) that is DELICIOUS! The food all came hot and quicker than expected, and everyone seated was happily enjoying their meals comfortably. Rowan, the hostess helping me with my order made the experience refreshing, and I'll be returning soon after this. Photo of the new drink included- seriously try it

Yes, the meal is pricey, BUT totally worth the hype. Not sure why this location has lower ratings than the one on Burnside but I'm a fan! It's definitely not a weekly meal as it can get pricey but when I'm down for a treat, I'd probably hit them up! I got the fried rice with Portuguese sausage and a fried egg, kimchi, side of Mac salad and a butter mochi cake. The fried rice was excellent but I ordered to go so the fried egg was definitely not runny. I'm sure if I had ate it when I got it, that egg would've been perfection. The fried rice was hella elevated with the kimchi. The kimchi is SO good. Mac salad was excellent as well but I think it also would've been better had I ate it right when I got it. It got room temperature so it tasted a little odd not cold That mochi cake though... damn. Chewy, buttery, so dang delicious! I will be thinking about that cake until I can satisfy the craving again. All in all, a great meal! I wish it was a little more reasonably priced but oh well!

Service was great, food was okay (chicken was a bit dry). I went around noon and not too full so was able to get a table and sit down. Clean restaurant.

Not my favorite Hawaiian food in the city. Mac salad was good and chicken katsu sandwich was okay. Better after getting some extra sauce, it was better. Service was great despite it being busy and the decor was nice too.

My Grilled Teriyaki Chicken was burnt *and* cold & I didn't even order rice. No worries! They "took it out" (or took some bites?!)

My partner and I got the grilled bbq chicken and the bbq short ribs + marinated beef. Unfortunately, the deep fried chicken was sold out for the day (we came in about 45 minutes until closing so perhaps our fault). I think because of the time we came in- we got kitchen scraps. The short ribs were 90% fat and 10% actual meat. The macaroni salad was incredibly plain, it needed more seasoning - pepper something because it straight up looked it was pasta with slabbed mayo. I will however give a shot out to their poke because I don't eat seafood nor like it and I did give this a try for the fun of it and it was delicious. Again I think because we came in 40-45 minutes before closing closing the service was not great either. I saw the self service bottles of sauce and when I came back I asked the lady for one and she said she had run out when it was pretty clear she was just cleaning up. Fair- you want to get out of there on time. So I asked the lady for hot sauce and she said it was extra and charged me $1.00 per 2.5oz container which is just diabolical in my opinion- I still paid none the less so it's my dusky for contribution to the fiasco. Overall it was mid, I'm used to much more flavorful food in Los Angeles. Ill give it another go whenever I'm in the area at a different time. Perhaps it was a one off day for them.

But today, I had the time to swing by and fortunately he was open, but SOLD OUT. Fortunately, he had a few things left over. So I said yes to a mix plate. Nolan's Hawaii accent is still thick it made me feel like I was back home on the west side for a second (!!!!thank you!!!!) I met some people outside the food stand, a business man from Hawaii and some California people I mistaken were from Hawaii as well, lol. It was an awesome interaction, from the moment I got there I got greeted by strangers waiting for food, to going up to the window and asking "so what? No more nuttin left?" Nolan's response was "Nah I only get mochicko chicken and kalua, you likem?" Haha that was a definite yes! Won't miss out on home food esp if word of mouth was already out there. So I waited a few minutes for my food, and the box was heavy. Haha it felt like when you would eat at your aunty and uncles house and they pack you the party left overs. I opened my plate lunch and I was greeted by a huge portion of chicken, pork rice and Mac salad. And let me tell you, the Mac salad didn't have so much frills like what you would see in a Portland Hawaii food joint. It was sauced, and seasoned. PERFECT! No need for all the extra add ons. As I started eating, let me say that kalua pork was no joke so moist and easy to eat not even close to dried out. The chicken tasted nice and crispy with just enough marinate and fluff. I haven't found this anywhere in Oregon..until here. Yeah sure there's a poke and katsu bar in the shopping center next door... but I take the random food cart in the parking lot any day over something franchised

Laulau, chicken long rice...CHICKEN LONG RICE! I haven't had that in years and suddenly my mouth was watering. None of the other plate lunch/Hawaiian food places in PDX have had that to my knowledge, and I needed to have it now. My dining companion was taking in the meat jun on the menu, as well as the fried rice omelette. We went in and ordered the chicken adobo fried rice omelette and chicken long rice on the side. Double starch, double chicken, check. Loved that the menu pointed out they serve koshihikari rice. I knew I was in good hands. No medium grain rice for this gal. The service was friendly, the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. There was a nice note on the wall saying the table would be bussed by staff, so we didn't have to play the guessing game of "search for the bus bins." Clean tables, bright light from the windows, good food. The adobo gravy on the omelette was winnahs. The omelette itself was not holding a candle to Elena's Food Truck, but tasty and filling. The chicken long rice was perfect. The only improvement would have been a nice hit of white pepper, maybe. The only thing not quite to my liking was the mac salad, but that didn't stop us from mopping our plates clean. We will be back for everything else on the menu.

Never had it in strips but overall tasted good. The Kalua Pig Egg Rolls were not my favorite. I foudn the Kalua pig very bland. Hamburger Steak: This was pretty good. The gravy was on point and who doesn't love grilled onions? The only thing I had about the burgers was they were a little tough and a little over cooked. made it a bit like bricks.
