The ambiance is very tropical and fun, and love that they have such a spacious bathroom! They have an extensive drinks menu, like several pages long! With so many guava, pineapple and coconut-based options, it was honestly confusing on what to get but we decided on the classics: the Lei Lani Volcano and Lava Flow. The drinks were so creamy and delicious yet dangerously strong! Also, can we talk about the portion sizes? My drink was literally the size of my face, like what?!! It is best to come here in large groups because their shared drinks/scorpion bowls are a total showstopper! It is in a very upscale neighborhood of Portland called Grant Park, so it was fun to walk around and see all the cool houses - there was one imitating a thatched roof and what not. Worth checking out the neighborhood before or after visiting Hale Pele.

Planned out a long layover and I'm glad I did, this was one of the best tiki bars I have ever been to. Not only were the cocktails top tier, but the food was wildly delicious, shocking... I can not wait to make some time to drive up and visit again with my wife.

Pictured is the garlic chicken, the Teri chicken and Huli huli chicken - a more savory and spicy alternative to the Teri. Not pictured was the Kalua Pig which also got raving reviews from the crew. Everything, even the Kalua, was made to order. We got combo plates to start and we couldn't believe the portions, it could have easily lasted 2 to 3 meals (for a normal person, naturally we crushed it). Everything was fresh and delicious, and I have no idea what they put in their spicy aioli - but it is outstanding. Once I had a taste it was going on everything, especially the teriyaki chicken.

The BBQ chicken was flavorful and well cooked. The Kalua pork was tender and really good. The musubi had a lot more flavor than I've had at other places. Now the Kogi fries were amazing and puts this spot in the front lines with others. The bulgogi was super tender, the sauce had a mild spiciness to it, the kimchi tasted fresh and the waffle fries were prefect! The macaroni salad and rice were both pretty standard. We'll be returning

After eating there twice, I'm a believer. This place can definitely make some great Hawaiian meals. Their Kobe ribs were so good we ordered two large trays for our barbecue. Man were they a hit. That's not the only thing they do well, the chicken and pork are seasoned and very well prepared. The staff is some of the coolest, laid back people you will ever find. They are super nice and very helpful. They move quick and swift to keep everything on point. The ambiance is Hawaiian chilled. I make this all the time at home and I thought it was okay but I feel mine is better. Personal preference. I ordered the Hawaiian pork with rice and a side salad. I am dairy free and gluten free. I was informed all sauces can meet my needs. The pork lacked some flavor but I added some sauces to it. Overall the meal was decent and moist. My boyfriend raved about his Korean chicken dish. I love they are able to accommodate dairy and gluten free. You can pick the sizes of your meal from small, medium and large. They have cocktails, cider and beer available. I got a pineapple margarita but could tell it was a mix. Overall I would like to try some other dishes here to get a better overall taste experience.
