This was my first time here and I loved it so much! It was busy for Saturday lunch and I think that's a good indication of a great restaurant. We got seated immediately and all of the employees were so nice! They are running a quality and efficient ship. We got chips and salsa and refilled it once we got a little low. Our food came out quickly. I got the fajita salad it was huge! Exploding with tons of tender chicken and sautéed veggies and plenty of crunchy lettuce. This was definitely the size of two meals. It would be hard not to get this again. We asked for the green hot salsa on the side and that added a good touch of heat. I ordered the fajitas and the number 20 combo (two tacos and an enchilada). The portion sizes were huge. Each of those entrées would have fed two people. The fajitas were pretty good. There was an even amount of meat and veggies and they were seasoned really well. This is where the good food stopped. The enchilada was flavorless and soggy. There wasn't even much flavor in the salsa. The carne asada tacos also had no flavor and the corn tortillas were soggy. They tasted like they had been dipped in oil and then not heated up. A number 13 cheese enchiladas, beans and rice. This is a solid dish, even it needs more sauce. The cheese is all the "it keeps melting off my fork" you could want. They give one cup of salsa per person which is cool, though there may be slightly too much Mexican oregano, otherwise a nice salsa. Expert level rice, cooked through while staying moist, soft, and unexploded. The beans were good, maybe hints of bacon grease? Nom. It's not unusual to see me sipping from the salsa. Yes, I did eat 3 cups of salsa before my meal arrived. Then, 1 more for my meal, sooo 4 cups of salsa. I chose the # 11 combination with no rice, all beans. That's 2 house made tacos and a ton of beans. Shredded chicken was today's choice. I don't know how many cooks they had working today, but I doubt we waited more than 20 minutes for all 8 orders to arrive. I was surprised when they started dropping off plates. We all chose different things. One got nachos, another a quesadilla, another potato skins, and my wife got a taco salad. My tacos were amazing. Don't be concerned with getting more than you can eat. It won't matter if you get a single, double, or triple combination. No matter what you order, they are going to fill your plate with food. I learned this the hard way. I now just get a double combination, knowing they will fill the void with beans in my case. Then, after you're done and think that the meal has ended, Boom, ice cream. Yes! Before the bill, they bring you a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the house to sweeten the deal. I think my meal was $12.99. When I placed my order over the phone I asked if I should choose beef or chicken for the tostada. They said the chicken had the most flavor. It had no flavor at all. I also asked to substitute refried beans with black beans on the tostada. They put about a tablespoon of black beans on it. The order came with 2 small containers of salsa and I was happy about that. As soon as I walked in I was seated. The staff had great customer service. They brought out some chips and salsa with water immediately. The chips were light and crispy and the salsa was so good with a little bit of heat. I ordered the Mar Y Tierra, the flavor was really good but the steak was riddled with gristle. A lot of the food seemed to be over-spiced with what I thought to be cumin, but an afterthought was that maybe a Chile powder? Mom & I each had combination meals: the Chile relleno was good(cheesy as is common), my chicken enchilada was ok also, but the ground beef taco- again overly spiced. It wasn't a hot spice, which is why I guessed cumin. And sorry to say that the tortilla chips had the appearance of grease laying on the chip; perhaps the oil in the deep fryer was not hot enough. The grilling was lacking. Quite sinewy. Had a hard time cutting it. Actually took almost all of it home for our pooches. Not a tasty bite. I mentioned it and they adjusted our bill. Tonight when we walked in we got seated right away. We were concerned it was going to take a while because the parking lot was full. Almost immediately after we were seated we were greeted by a very nice gentleman that bright us our waters and chips with salsa. Ok ya'll... after living in Eugene for over three years, after living in San Diego for over 15 years.... well let's just say I was searching for a good Mexican place up here in Oregon. After seeing some reviews, I chose this place to try. We happened to go in Thursday, which.... is two combinations for $16.95 day (basically by one get one half off). We walked in the first time and the was a small wait, which made sense since the parking lot - which is large- was packed and I had to park all the way down the street. But alas, they won me over because, like any good Mexican restaurant worth it's weight, they serve chips and salsa at the table! I love that they carry salsa in pitchers around to refill the bowls! Their table salsa has a bit of bite, you can ask for a really mild salsa... just know you'll have to add salt! Lol I like the table salsa.... My parents tried the special on combinations... they both loved their combinations! Enchiladas are good and certainly not short of cheese and sauce! Burritos are huge and not filled with rice but packed full of meat. The tostadas are good and presented and look like a large salad. Rice and beans are ok... but I'm not a huge fan of sides 90% of the time! I love the bean dip you can get at the table and I mix it with salsa! I, however, orded the chicken beef combo fajitas... I cannot stress this enough.... not only are these awesome but the portion is huge... as in this lasted me for 4 days (note I don't eat as much as most). The tortillas were soft and flavorful...I can't tell if they're homemade or not, just that they're good! The sizzling platter came out as it should .... well.... sizzling ha ha ha! The meat was all lean and tender... and full of flavor and the platter was full of meat with some vegetables NOT just onions and green peppers. I would most definitely order this again. I will, however, be happy to share it with someone next time. The nachos are huge and absolutely unable to be finished by one person. I watched a teenage boy attempt to finish them. After a strong effort and twenty minutes he got to about half of them and still filled a to go box completely full! Looked like they were loaded. Next time we visited I ordered a taco picadillo... as in a side taco.... it was brought to the table and looked like a taco salad... tons of toppings and definitely a meal in itself. The gal at the table next to me ordered the super taco thinking it would be the same as mine just with guac and sour cream.... um no it was 2X the size! Anyway I may just order the taco when I come in next. It was great with flavor I the ingredients were fresh! Their drink menu is something to be envied. Like a stephanie drink heaven... so many fun sweet snowcone type drinks... haven't tried any, but I need to come back just for drinks!!! Volcano Colada is in my future!!!! At the end of your meal who needs dessert?? They auto bring cinnamon flour tortilla chips (bunuelos)... with a small scoop of ice cream, sauce (sometimes strawberry), whipped cream... pure yummy!!!
