Like many other reviewers, food was excellent, Tony is great with all the customers and the cafe is quaint and very clean (i just loves the napkin holder). Highly rate this cafe, give it a try. Pictured is the "seared ahi tuna sandwich" and "vegetable soup with flat bread" Enjoy

I ordered the mushroom cheesesteak sandwich with homemade barbecue chips. It's delicious! My son ordered the Smash burger with fries. They're Also very tasty. We were given a sample of the soup. It's out of this world! And dessert is baklava with ice cream. The service is excellent and they're very attentive. The interior is simply and tastefully decorated. There's plenty of parking. This is my new go to place for delicious food and service.

The menu was so big and everything sounded delicious so I did the American thing and got a burger. It was absolutely delicious and I really enjoyed the different bread for the bun! It was super juicy and moist and flavorful. Didn't love the tiramisu but that's alright, the chips on the side of my burger were good instead, super smokey instead of salty which was new!

Had a great early dinner at The Empanada Stop...absolutely delicious! Everything was made with fresh ingredients, and the service was incredible. This place is truly a hidden gem. We ordered a garden salad, empanadas, and a pastrami sandwich with house-made chips. They also let us sample the house soup and the ice cream and baklava, which were both amazing. We loved the soup so much we took some home for later. The prices are very affordable for the quality of food you get. Highly recommend!

Great Experience! Tony owner/manager/front of the house and team took care of business Clean, nice space Empanadas were good.. I would've preferred a little more flaky.. the beef was the best.. dipping sauces were a red sauce and an olive oil base Soup sample was perfect.. nice broth with cauliflower that tasted as if you were fine dining Baklava Ice Cream was outstanding.. perfect portion, flaky Baklava with creamy vanilla ice cream Will be back to try their sandwiches and burgers.. they look incredible

Beef Empanadas, dipping sauce is heavenly

It's hard to imagine how a place can get such high reviews until you try it and then it all makes sense. Stopped by recently and immediately knew it would be a favorite of ours. Pastrami sandwich is one of the best sandwiches in all of Portland, definitely one of my favorite meals in town. We've also had the tri-tip and the prime rib, both were amazing too but the tri-tip had a nice bright flavor with the delicious aioli and peppers. Everything is always fresh and house made, all of it super flavorful. Beef empanadas are incredible with a fresh chimichurri. On top of all that, they're always super nice with great service. Can't recommend enough!

This is the 2nd time we've eaten at Empanada Stop. The food is fantastic! The 1st time we were given a sample of the house soup (cauliflower & cashew) and also the baklava. After that sample, I knew I would order it this time. It is so creamy & smooth, and tastes like a light cheese soup. So yummy on a cold PNW day. The beef empanadas are so good, lightly seasoned and not at all greasy. The chimichurri sauce adds a little herby spicy kick to it. They now have a butternut squash soup which we tried. Also smooth & creamy and mildly spiced. The owner is very warm and friendly. Service is very fast and the dining area is bright and clean. Restroom is clean as well. We enjoyed all the food and will definitely be back!

First time in. Super clean. Order at counter. Host very friendly and helpful Pastrami sandwich. Homemade bread, delish. Good pastrami. Plenty of sauerkraut. Because the bread is so fluffy, could use more thousand island, maybe. Comes with homemade barbecue chips. Good Smash burger. Again, homemade bun. Well cooked burger. Very tasty. Chips also. Host brought a small serving of pistachio baklava with ice cream. Yum. Like most other reviewers, no complaints

Thought I wouldn't like the slaw because I usually hate coleslaw but it was unlike any American slaw I've ever had. So delicious and unique tasting, and paired with the crunchy katsu was just delicious. The fries could use some more crunch but the sandwich makes up for it.

This location is also a bit small so not really suitable for big groups. We came on a Friday for lunch and there's only 1 kiosk so it takes a while for big groups to order and I don't think they have a person starting another order if it gets too busy. They were out of a couple of the drinks for the kids menu, which was okay because there were 2 other options. Not once did the staff interact with us or say hello to us. The wait time for the food was ok but the server basically ran and threw the food at our table without ever saying anything to us. I ordered a pork katsu sandwich and the pork was VERY dry. I also ordered it normal but when she threw it on the table, she mumbled something "it's not spicy" and but there was clearly some red powder on it and looked like my friend's sandwich that she ordered spicy. We went up to ask the girl and she said they accidentally put the powder on but it's not spicy and that was it. She didn't apologize or offer to exchange it. I think it's unacceptable behavior and I was in disbelief. They were also out of ketchup and we had a whole table of French fries with the kids meals... I have been to the other location a few times and the food and service was good as far as I can remember, but this location is horrible. I will never come back again and will tell all my friends and family about my experience. 2/9- I emailed the business owner like he requested but never got a reply. Don't need to tell me to reach out if you don't care to email back. Thanks.

FOR A PLACE BUILT AROUND BURGERS/DOGS THIS WAS JUST SAD…read more Maybe try a hot dog or something. I don't know, but my burger was a monumental dud. It was served on an egg white coated brioche bun which gave it a somewhat leathery texture on the outside, soft on the inside. It came with a pickle slice, one tomato slice, a lettuce leaf, a slice of cheddar cheese, a tiny dollop of mayonnaise (you must ask for a side of ketchup and/or mustard), and the single most boring tasting burger I have had since the little league game I went to last summer. No juice. No flavor. The patty was not hot and tasted as if it were sitting in a warmer for 30 minutes before we came in. The burger came with fries (which we all agreed were the best part of our meals) and it cost $16. NO MILKSHAKES OFFERED, which given the theme of the restaurant is just a horrible oversight. I cannot imagine this place lasting long. So forgettable most people will likely only come here once out of curiosity, then go back to their favorite greasy, oozy, flavor-packed cheeseburger spot for a real burger.

They put a LOT of stuff on the burger…read more tl/dr: I wanted to like this place more than I did. They go in a "throw everything onto the bun the way we like it" road, so mostly you eat things their way. Sometimes, you just want a burger. Worth checking out again, for sure, this time for the dogs. We've been wanting to find a new burger place for a while now, so when I was on my way home one day I thought I'd stop in at Buhnz, since it was on my way. Lovely, friendly staff, good vibe, it seemed like the whole family was there. I looked over the menu and had to think for a moment. Wasn't it Bourdain who said "You have to ask yourself, when you are making a burger, 'am I actually improving this? It is already almost perfect, so am I making it better by putting things on it?'" Buhnz brings that question into sharp focus. The-woman-who-lets-me-live-with-her (thanks Mike), likes a mushroom Swiss burger. It's not that she isn't adventurous, its that she wasn't there to look at the menu and I wanted to start off with something familiar. No Swiss, no mushrooms. Now, they're not on the menu either, but they're pretty standard, aren't they? That's one of the three or four classic burgers. I got her the cheese burger, straight up, no pickles. It's a good burger, no lie. Juicy enough, maybe a bit too far down the smashburger trail (not enough thickness to retain any pink), but a good all around cheeseburger. Fries are also very tasty. I ordered the Buhnz Burger for myself. This is their eponymous burger, what are they going for? Everything, it would seem. Somewhere under a mountain of very tasty stuff there was a burger, nicely caramelized, tender and juicy. But it was under there somewhere. Everything tasted good. The people are friendly. The vibe is simple, but friendly, the rest is just my biases. Burgers are, to me at least, something that should be available my way, since they are so customizable. Limiting me to a set menu in that context will keep me from stopping as frequently as I might like.
