So glad I checked them out! The food was amazing, and they were super nice. They even gave us some free samples to try. The place is on the smaller side, probably more focused on takeout, but it's super clean with several tables inside and some nice picnic tables outside if you want to eat there. Empanadas were crispy with delicious fillings and the backlava was a fun treat, but I have to mention the cashew-cauliflower soup and salad sides on the empanada samplers. The garden salad was rich with avacado, cucumber, and radish. The soup was seasoned so expertly. A friendly man in a power wheelchair was tootling by and we had a chat. Surprise, surprise. It took a family from Syria to make the best empanadas that I have ever tasted. Everything that is served in the restaurant from the sauces to the desserts, are made in house, and it was all delicious. This place is a problem...in the best way possible. :) Food is so consistently amazing I am here at least once a week. Smash burger, prime rib sandwich, beef empanadas and the seasonal salad (right now the autumn salad with apple, beets, etc might be my favorite) have been my favorites so far. Also the soups have been great as well along with that very soft and tasty bread. Lastly the owner (Tony) is very friendly and you can tell he and the staff work very hard to make this spot something to be proud of. I've had better and I've certainly had worse. As for the food, I ordered a beef empanada and it went in the garbage. The outside of it was hard and the meat seemed overcooked. Maybe it was reheated, not sure, but not consistent with the other reviews, so a disappointment I'd say. My partner had a pastrami sandwich and that's where the 4+ stars come in. It was good. Really good. Bread was perfect, and by perfect I mean it doesn't cut the top of your mouth and it didn't get soggy at all. The meat was good quality and we'd definitely order that again. Our first visit here. We were greeted immediately upon entering the restaurant. Everything looked new and clean inside. I decided on the prime rib sandwich and my husband got the Hickory BBQ burger. We didn't wait long before our food arrived at our table. The portions are good and everything tasted freshly made. The prime rib sandwich had tender meat which was perfectly balanced with the pickled peppers and spicy horseradish aioli sauce. My husband tried the hickory BBQ burger and thoroughly enjoyed his as well. I don't typically love chips, but these tasted freshly made and they were perfectly crisp with a sprinkling of sea salt. We were offered a sample of their soup and it was a delicious balance of rich and creamy with a little heat. I imagine it would be perfect on a cold day! We also tried the ice cream and baklava and it was SO good. Next time I intend to try the empanadas, which looked delicious from what I saw from the other patrons dishes.
