This place is a problem...in the best way possible. :) Food is so consistently amazing I am here at least once a week. Smash burger, prime rib sandwich, beef empanadas and the seasonal salad (right now the autumn salad with apple, beets, etc might be my favorite) have been my favorites so far. Also the soups have been great as well along with that very soft and tasty bread. Lastly the owner (Tony) is very friendly and you can tell he and the staff work very hard to make this spot something to be proud of. First of all the service is amazing. The gentleman helping me at the counter is very polite and accommodating. The food is top notch. Everything made in house. Service was top notch. Very friendly and they gave us complimentary baklava and ice cream. Being born and raised in Glendale, CA I've had my fair share of baklava and it was alright. I've had better and I've certainly had worse. As for the food, I ordered a beef empanada and it went in the garbage. The outside of it was hard and the meat seemed overcooked. Maybe it was reheated, not sure, but not consistent with the other reviews, so a disappointment I'd say. My partner had a pastrami sandwich and that's where the 4+ stars come in. It was good. Really good. Bread was perfect, and by perfect I mean it doesn't cut the top of your mouth and it didn't get soggy at all. The meat was good quality and we'd definitely order that again. The chips were different, but delicious and fresh. I ate more of those than I should. Oh pickles were good too. read more

This restaurant is amazing! We were welcomed warmly and the service is professional and friendly. The empanada is delicious! I had the Chicken empanada meal which includes 2 mouthwatering empanadas and a choice of side. Go for the squash soup...everything is made from scratch at this delightful restaurant. There is also a gluten free item. The owner/manager brought baklava with pistachios and ice cream to our table, compliments of the restaurant. The ambience is cozy and low noise level. Our first visit here. We were greeted immediately upon entering the restaurant. Everything looked new and clean inside. I decided on the prime rib sandwich and my husband got the Hickory BBQ burger. We didn't wait long before our food arrived at our table. The portions are good and everything tasted freshly made. The prime rib sandwich had tender meat which was perfectly balanced with the pickled peppers and spicy horseradish aioli sauce. My husband tried the hickory BBQ burger and thoroughly enjoyed his as well. I don't typically love chips, but these tasted freshly made and they were perfectly crisp with a sprinkling of sea salt. We were offered a sample of their soup and it was a delicious balance of rich and creamy with a little heat. I imagine it would be perfect on a cold day! We also tried the ice cream and baklava and it was SO good. Next time I intend to try the empanadas, which looked delicious from what I saw from the other patrons dishes. You really wouldn't expect to receive the kind of food or service in a business in that type of location, and that's not a knock at all. The food was so good I'm going back immediately. I had a smash burger and chips and a Tinga chicken empanada. Both amazing, really. In all honesty, the smash burger is the best burger Ive ever had and if you saw me you'd know I've had a lot of them in my life. I always love saying hi to Tony at the front when I come in, it is a great atmosphere. Everyone there works so hard and it shows in the food. We found ourselves in Gresham at a track meet at Mt Hood Community College. After a long day of track and field we turned to yelp to find a yummy place to eat nearby. The Empanada shop was conveniently on the way back to the freeway to get us home. We stopped and were pleased with their menu offerings to satisfy all types. My wife and I enjoyed the empanada plates and our teenager loved his smash burger. I believe it was the owner helping us. He was very kind and friendly. The sauces that accompanied the empanadas were so good. The salads were not your grandmothers garden ir Caesar salad either. He gave us a sample of his cashew soup which was so good. Had it been a colder Oregon day, we would have ordered that. The. We had some of their baklava dessert. We highly recommend this place and are sad that it is so far away from our home as it is very tasty. If you live nearby or are passing through check it out! read more

First off I love this place! I just discovered it a few weeks ago and have been back several times with friends in tow. Honestly, it is one of the best places to eat in Gresham. My first time I met one of the owners, Tony, and tried the Chicken Club and an empanada. Tony makes sure every customer's experience there is the best possible and all of the food is made fresh. Just about every other restaurant you go to overcooks chicken and makes it tough and stringy. Not here, the chicken in my sandwich was perfectly cooked and juicy. Easily the best Chicken Club I have ever had. The portions are generous, so I ate half the sandwich and the chicken empanada, and took the other half of the sandwich home. The chicken empanada was delicious and very well flavored. I prefer mine with a side of Tzatziki sauce and theirs is delicious. The next time I was there, Tony gave me a sample of the soup (they have one kind) and it is incredible! I have had the soup almost every time since. It is a full flavored creamy broth with the perfect seasoning. A must have at least once! The restaurant is very modern looking and clean, and there is ample space for ADA access throughout it including the restroom. They have seating inside and outdoors as well. There is also plenty of parking there. Empanada Stop has quickly become a common stop for me! read more

This place was amazing! Had the Smash burger and the Tri Tip Sandwich. Both were exceptional and their prices are very reasonable.

The food is FANTASTIC and the service is even better. 10/10 would dine again. The tri-tip sandwich was out of this world.

The hamburger was really, really greasy. The chips were wonderful. It has a nice atmosphere and the people were very nice that helped me.

Delicious food. Great service. No alcohol, which saves a lot of money for a lunch, and we got a free dessert of one bite of pistachio baklava each and a scoop of ice cream to share that was a perfect ending. My husband said it was the best cheeseburger he has had in years. I had a wonderful blackened ahi sandwich. I have never had one before, so I can't compare.
