Stopped in after taking a young man of my acquaintance to a job interview to have a little breakfast, (and to see Hope, who's been a friend for several years). Aside from being a doofus and not noticing the 15 feet of menu on the wall opposite the counter, the place was warm and friendly and had the smell of a place I'd like to eat, (a little warm bread, a touch of cinnamon, and a hint of bacon.) I ordered the Hope's Mess with eggs over easy, a biscuit, and sausage patty and the youngster ordered the Huevos Rancheros. I was told that Hope was now living my wife's ideal life while her partner lived mine. Hope rolled in later and the partner was there first thing so she was not there. We got drinks as well and waited a perfectly reasonable time for our food. Rich, creamy country gravy, perfectly cooked eggs, good coffee. My companion enjoyed his food also, but since it's not my spouse, I didn't feel comfortable stealing a bite to report directly. Hope is the best. And that monster cookie ...Jesus wept! It's very peanut-buttery, which is just fine with me, and the oatmeal, chocolate chips and M&M bits are simply a bonus. In town visiting my mum and since she loves those silly Frappuccinos, Miss Hope worked some specialty-coffee magic and whipped up her version, which made my mum very happy. Nabbed a fresh-from-the-oven pecan sticky bun, and that went over with flying colors, too. Heaps of customers at all the tables really enjoying themselves. This place has great energy! read more

Best lunch I've had in a long time! Be sure to try the soups, they are truly awesome. Even the red onions and aïoli, (on the sandwich made with fresh focaccia bread), we're specially prepared and delicious. Lots of gluten-free options too. There's nothing like in Gresham. Great service! I came in and had the Hopes Hot Mess and it was delicious! Some of the best biscuits and gravy I've ever had. The coffee was excellent; Hopes Cafe makes a lot of their own syrups, so it definitely feels like a special experience! The cafe itself is cute and nice for meeting people. I used to like this place. Very good cinnamon rolls. But then I saw they were on Public Square. Which for those who don't know, basically the only way to get listed on there is to sign an agreement stating that you agree with a bunch of stuff. Like it's a good thing to not have to pay employees a minimum wage, not covering birth control in health plans, abortion should blanket banned and a bunch of stuff that basically amounts to "If you don't vote for Trump, you suck". I'm not giving a business that thinks I'm a worthless sack my business. Only 2 stars because those cinnamon rolls are so good, those rolls are worth it if you can give your money to a business that is so willing to call most of sucky. I just personally can't. read more

It was fine. Counter service, bus your own tables. Quite surprised that the hash browns were frozen patties. Service was marginal. Gravy was good. $4.50 for drip coffee is excessive; you can get a refill but this wasn't clear when I ordered. Wouldn't go out of my way to return. read more

Went to Hope's Cafe for the first time a week ago. Did not even know or it. Service was great and food was well presented and tasty

Stopped by here on a whim. I'm glad we did. The tuna and turkey club sammiches were absolutely delish!

Diner style breakfast was just ok, it tasted like a lot of it came from a can or was pre-made. But on the plus side, the cinnamon roll was excellent, and the service was friendly and fast. read more

Amazing homemade pastries. Best GF my son has ever had. Many gf options as well as non gf options.

Disappointed. Ordered 2 of the hot mess plates ($15) each) and it was a single hash brown patty, two eggs and two thin strips of bacon. First off they forgot the gravy for the food. To try and make up for it they tried to warm up a huge bowl- so it ended up just being cold gravy cause it was so much and not warmed for very long- so it wasn't enjoyable sadly. While they were warming up the gravy, my husband discovered his bacon had bleach on it and had the guy smell it to confirm. The guy said he didn't smell it at first- but I don't see how you couldn't smell it, it was so pungent. The gal offered to remake it OR get a refund so he opted for the refund. But really they shouldn't have been okay with him eating off a plate that had bleach on the food. Especially since you could smell the bleach on the bacon and he had ingested some of it. On top of that, the hash browns tasted freezer burnt, the eggs were poorly cooked and the bacon wasn't impressive. So even if they hadn't messed up so much, I still wouldn't recommend it. It was hard to choke down what I had and we had to go somewhere else for food after since we were left hungry and out $30 read more

The food was fantastic. Bacon, eggs and pancakes were wonderful. Best pancakes, not the limp chewy ones get at most restaurants. Coffee-excellent. Very helpful and friendly staff. Highly recommend Hope's cafe. My new breakfast place and I live in Vancouver, but well worth the drive. read more

I recently discovered this spot after learning about it from a post on the local community Facebook page. My fiance and I are gluten-free and knew we had to try them out! Hope's isn't a dedicated gluten-free kitchen, but the owner is gluten-free herself and takes precautions to help prevent cross-contamination. We ordered her "hot mess" meal with GF biscuits & gravy, a GF cinnamon roll, and a GF jalapeno cheddar wiener wrap. Everything was DELICIOUS, and my fiance said "Hope is a wizard!" Hope and her employee were incredibly friendly and personable, and even the customers were too. We had a wonderful experience and look forward to coming back again and again! read more

Absolutely a must visit local cafe with gluten free as well as non-gluten free deliciousness. They have a variety of drinks and pastries/baked goods and also include a lot of savory meal options. The gluten free biscuits and gravy are an instant close-you're-eyes and bask in the magic, experience. Seriously, I dare you to find a gluten free biscuit as fluffy and lovely as the ones at Hope's. Hope and her staff are so incredibly friendly as well, and are so open and easy to chat with. You instantly recognize the hard work that has been put into each and every recipe that is being sold. Food and baked goods here are amazing! They offer various selections of lunch and baked goodies. They also have gluten and vegan options which is hard to come around in this area especially for freshly baked items. Lunch here is just as tasty as their treats. If you want to spend a lot of money (and I mean a lot) for old and stale pastries, be my guest. My first clue was when I saw that the pastries were wrapped in plastic - that's never a good sign. We went there based on an article in The Gresham Outlook and were very disappointed.
