We went a bit overboard and ordered so much food here. The portions were also HUGE here so you get your monies' worth. Mac and cheese was really good, I would have loved it if the crispy bacon was smaller and more infused into the dish. The smashed skillet was good but would recommend more finely diced or shredded potatoes. The smoked brisket benedict was intense! It was loaded with brisket! Overall a great spot, would come back and try other items! I also loved the interior and the plating!
Unfortunately, our experience was pretty disappointing from start to finish. I ordered a sangria, and when it finally arrived after quite a wait, it tasted basically like fruit punch. I mentioned to another employee that I didn't think there was any alcohol in it and that it didn't seem like a sangria. He said he would get our waitress. About 15 minutes later, she finally came over, and when I asked about the drink, she told me it was actually a mocktail sangria. That was never made clear when I ordered it--I thought I was ordering an actual sangria. Since I already had the drink, I asked for a shot of vodka to add to it. Between the mocktail and the vodka, I ended up paying $27 for a drink that wasn't even what I thought I had ordered. The service continued to be extremely slow. Our food was delivered, but our waitress didn't check on us for around 15 minutes. By that point, our food was getting cold. We had asked for salt and pepper and received two salts but no pepper. When she finally returned with my vodka, we had to ask again for the pepper. We decided to order dessert and chose what was described as Black Forest cake. Unfortunately, it was another disappointment. It tasted more like something you would pick up from a grocery-store bakery than a restaurant dessert and wasn't what I expected from a Black Forest cake. It had a cherry on top and layers with cherries in the middle, which also wasn't mentioned when we ordered it. Overall, the biggest issues were the very slow and inattentive service, the confusion over the drink, the $27 cost after having to add alcohol to what I thought was already an alcoholic sangria, and a disappointing dessert. For what we paid, I expected a much better experience. Which you saw the picture was $120 meal with tip not worth it
Came over for the first time to celebrate my birthday with a few friends. We were meeting for Happy Hour and was surprised how big the lounge area was. There were many large seating area available. One main cedar table was a big attraction. There is a fireplace with a table by it We got a table. I ordered a Borgona, fruit puree juices mix with Sprite. Never had one, but sounded really good. It came and it was delicious and fruity for a mocktail. We ordered a shrimp ceviche and octopus skewers to start out with. The Shrimp Ceviche was very delicious and it was something that I was very happy to share it with my friends. It was a big portion of shrimp cocktail with salsa on the bottom and these large sized blue chips. It was so good that we ate it quickly. Octopus skewers was a tad charred. Yet very delicious especially if you eat it with the pineapple together. Brings out the flavor of the pineapples quite well. We ordered the Pork Belly Tacos and Mole Shrimp Tacos which came in 3. I absolutely loved street tacos filled with good fresh ingredients. And both of these hot the spot. The pork belly was an absolute great flavor of the pork belly. The Shrimp was delicious. Cook perfectly and easy to devour quickly. DeFuego Nachos had Jalapenos. But wasn't listed. The nachos were delicious and it was quickly devoured. Wings came in 4 wings with garlic parmesan with carrots and celery and ranch on the platter. Heavily garlic on the wings yet very delicious. Half wedge salad was a surprise how much there is in the salad. A lot of fresh veggies there with cherry tomatoes and sliced radishes in it. I had a absolutely fun experience celebrating my birthday here. DeFuego had Happy Hour from 3pm to 6pm, seven days out of the week. Seems the Happy Hour here is very popular. You have 21 appetizers to choose from on the Happy Hour Menu. There are Mocktails, and any drinks you want available. Definitely will come back again.
Excellent meal! The location was not what we were expecting, but wow, great food and service. The bread with the chimichurri was SO good. We had fajitas and an arepa. The pork on the arepa was fantastic. Definitely one of our best meals in Oregon!

The line moves smoother than a jazz sax on a Saturday night. You step in, and bam people are smiling like they just found a hundred-dollar bill in their coat pocket. The vibe? Oh mama... it's cozy, sultry, and kinda cheeky, like it knows you've had a rough week and it's here to fix it. The cocktails? Each one's a freakin' masterpiece. I swear, they sneak a little magic in there, 'cause suddenly your problems shrink and your grin gets wider. And the whiskey? Smooth enough to make your grandma blush, and she's tough as nails. But here's the kicker the people. Everyone's like your best friend you didn't know you had. Bartenders? Wizards. Staff? Angels with funny jokes. You want a spot that feels like your secret club, your little slice of heaven with just enough sass to keep it exciting? Defugo, baby, Defugo. The weather is has finally gone off the deep end in Portland so if you wanna get brunch but not be forced to wait outside in line for one of the hyped brunches in town come to de Fuego, a hidden gem that serves an under the radar solid brunch with no wait but still a bit more elevated than your typical restaurant. For $50 you can order their Breakfast Asado which feeds 2-3 people and comes with a plethora of food and sauces. You'll get a decent amount of hangar steak, sausage (chorizo?) bacon, toast, eggs, amazing roasted potatoes and some chimichurri, romesco, and a pesto? I'm not sure but it all tastes great and at $50 it's an incredible value as well. *Zero wait *Good value *Nice vibe *Parking lot *Good/great food This place is the total package and easily one of the most slept on places for brunch in the Portland area.
We got the Fettuccine Alfredo and Argentine Asado. It is a bit pricey, but honestly, the asado plate was a 10/10. The platter was absolutely delicious and easily the highlight of our meal. If you're going to eat here, I think the asado is one of the options that's actually worth the price compared to some of the other dishes.
Shoot. Last night I took my boyfriend here to celebrate a special event & we left so disappointed! We got there at 7:15 & we were stuck there for over 2 hours! I ordered 2 things and both came out wrong. Our waitress spoke very loudly and we could hear her having long personal conversations with people a couple tables away from us for 10+ minutes at a time, several times. While we waited for her, we ran out of water a few times and I had to ask for more. It was over an hour before our order was even taken. We did flag her down to order an appetizer, brussel sprouts with cheese on the side due to a dairy allergy, but... the sprouts came out with cheese on them. They corrected this fairly promptly, but then we sat for another 45 minutes before our order was actually taken. I ordered a steak as "somewhere between medium & medium well" and she correctly repeated my order back to me "medium/medium well." When the steak came out, it was WELL well done. Like, burnt. I wanted to send it back, but I didn't want to deal with the embarrassment or have to wait even longer for food. We were about an hour & 45 minutes into dinner by the time we got our food. I was so disappointed! I also wanted to get dessert to celebrate the occasion but the service was SO slow that we had to cancel our after-dinner plans. We ordered it anyway & requested the check promptly, giving up on our plans for the rest of the evening. We were only a party of 2, we arrived early for our reservation, & we watched several larger parties come and go while we waited for our order to even be taken. It was a Wednesday night and not overly busy, there were several empty tables, so I'm not sure what the hold up was. We were also seated at an odd table next to the kitchen with a small divider between us and the staff. It was noisy and I even heard 2 staff members exchange a joke about how someone else had left & said they'd never come back. They laughed about it. I wish I had the guts those people had to get up & leave! I've never once left less than a 20% tip and felt immense guilt not tipping well, but after experiencing the poor service then also hearing the staff blatantly acknowledge it & not care.... I was appalled. The Hilton bought the hotel attached to De Fuego and I'm shocked. This was a Monarch hotel before and I'd assume that the Hilton's standards would be higher but the service and quality here have tanked hopelessly low since the acquisition. I had a similar experience at The Underground before it closed. I've learned my lesson & won't come here for a special occasion again.

Great food! The atmosphere is professional and the ambiance is amazing. This is a great place for dates. I enjoy getting a couple dishes and sharing with the table!
The hubby and I were staying in a hotel just a block or two away from de Fuego and this restaurant was at the top of yelp with. 4.5 rating. It's a tavern located in the Monarch Hotel. Although it was after 6pm on Friday, the happy hour menu was effective and the dinner menu was not available. That was no problem as the happy hour prices were great. For me, I did not order any alcoholic beverages nor a mocktail. Just pork belly tacos and an ice water. Tasty and crunchy yet a little greasy. Hubby got a burger and fries. For the sangria available, it was a mocktail version. Everything was good but, not remarkable. Service was okay too. It was just our server and the bartender working. Not too busy and she seemed to be handling all the customers well indoors and out. Parking is plentiful and free. 3.5 stars overall but rounded down to 3. Just A-OK.
As our church group, we've been here before, so I was calling again to make reservation. The staff answering the phone asked me: "Was this for one check?" And I responded with: "there will be 10 of us, and each one will be paying for their own, except three of us. The minute we sat down, I was asked again, "one check? It is our requirement for over 6 to pay in one check." I repeated: "They would want to pay for their own checks, but I'll ask if they want to do that." He also asked me: "Are you celebrating anything?" I said: "Yes, we're celebrating our 51st Wedding Anniversary, and one a birthday." All 9 of us showed up, except one. I mentioned to my guests, over 6 they required only one check. My guests were quite disappointed. If that was such an issue, we would have gone elsewhere! Of course, they weren't listening, and since they all live in different cities, and apartments or retirement homes, many of them DO NOT CARRY CASH! The lunch were enjoyed. The waiting was long, even though, it wasn't crowded, lunch time, only a few were eating. Only two servers. I understand, short staff everywhere. The food, we enjoyed them, the servings were tasty and as far as bringing our group here again. . . .? Whatever happened to the question of: Are we celebrating?
The restaurant is so nice! We loved the seating area, we got a booth. Our server was attentive and patient with our party. The food was delicious! My husband and I shared the breakfast asado and the Argentinian sausage was my favorite. The French's toast de coco was sweet but delicious. It had a dulce de leche sauce and balanced well with the banana. I forgot to take a picture of the strawberry mint mocktail but it was refreshing! I would definitely recommend and we plan to be back soon.
Was staying at the hotel and saw this place. I usually avoid hotel restaurants but the client I was visiting said this place was really good, without knowing I was staying there The place is down stairs from the lobby and it's dark and cool. Took a seat at the bar and was greeted promptly. Looked over the menu and decided on the smoked angels envy old fashioned. It was happy hour so I got the half wedge salad. Was not a traditional wedge but was really good. For my main I got the lomo saltado, mole rubbed steak tips with onions, peppers, French fries over rice. Was a wild mix of stuff. Steak pieces were pretty small but full of flavor and the sauce over the whole thing was delicious. Was worried the fries would be soggy but the sauce made them better. Sopped up the sauce with the rice and fries. Amazing. Asked for a margarita to go with the meal, seemed appropriate. Sat at the bar so service was good, kept water full and checked in repeatedly Was a great time and great food read more

I heard about the happy hour, and am always a sucker for a great deal with good food, and then progressing to the next spot. Yes, I'm a progressive diner. That note aside, the Happy Hour menu was great, food was absolutely fantastic and the wait staff was on point! I loved the lineup of sexy NA drinks in addition to the unique cocktails and solid wine lineup. Unfortunately the acoustics were outdated as was the interior overall. It needed some freshening up for a Hilton. The outdoor seating could only accommodate groups of two which was a bummer. Those points aside, everything we sampled tasted fantastic and the wait staff made the experience fun. read more
OK, this place was AMAZING. I'll get to the reason they got four stars in a second, but everything else was honestly fantastic. It's a beautiful restaurant, we had a large party seated by the window, and our server was SO fun. Everyone was incredibly sweet, and the service was perfect. It was also close to my birthday, and they ended up singing to me twice because our server didn't know the first time! They even brought me a complimentary cake, so it made for such a fun memory. Food-wise, the burrata needed a little more balsamic, but the empanadas were a 10/10, the sauces were amazing, and I loved the fried grit fritters and bread. The drinks were also SO good. Our entire group became obsessed with the Coco No Loco and kept ordering them all night! Unfortunately, my steak was where they lost the star. It was SO tough and honestly difficult to chew. The flavor was also spicier than I expected, but that part is on me! I think they may have just had an off night with the steak, because everything else was incredible. I'd absolutely come back, I'd just order something other than steak next time. 4/5! read more

What happened? Staff and decor is still excellent, but why have they cheapened up their food? It's been a long since I have said, "where's the beef?", but their chicken sandwich left me asking that question. Taste was pretty generic too. I just don't understand how a restaurant can go from 10 oz chicken sandwiches to 3 ounce once ones. read more
Service: 8/10 super friendly, great listener, orders were spot on, but almost inauthentically friendly? Strange but all in all, they were very kind and good at their job just came across as inauthentic. Ambiance: 8/10 high end steak restaurant vibes. It's a bit confusing having the restaurant split into two different places (a bit hard to find who I had dinner with) but it was nice ambiance. Food 8/10 Gaucho Bread: the bread was freshly made, perfectly cooked and the chimichuri was fresh, acidic, garlicky and has a bit of heat which was super nice. It's a great app. Lomo Saltado: 8/10 massive portion, delicious vibrant sauces over veggies steak and fries. This would have been 10/10 if they just stepped up their fry game. Otherwise this was a very satisfying dish and something I'd get again for sure read more
Dropped by for dinner. Service was good and friendly. Meal meh. Got a Caesar salad. Fine, fair amount of lettuce, could have been crisper. Dressing was good no complaints I tried the LIME ACHIOTE CHICKEN for $28. Chicken was tasty, though not much there. About a quarter chicken. Vegetable accompaniment was not great. Some onion pieces, pepper slices, squash, broccoli all somewhat grilled. Half pieces of radish barely cooked and hard as rocks. Who's eating these? Wife had the Smokey burger and fries. Extremely pedestrian. Didn't taste like the menu would lead you to think Don't know if we would return. read more

A super nice environment I was sat by a large group but could still hear conversations perfect and the small lights are good. Service was awesome I went for my partners birthday and it was the only place all day that made her feel special! The bone marrow baguette was genuinely perfect ( I'm a bread lover this is the best bread ever). The steak was cooked to PERFECTION. And the sides are delicious to share. After our honeymoon in Costa Rica where we had tried a Argentine style restaurant and fell in love with one another as well as the food when we were there. Upon returning home we chanced upon the de Fuego close to our home and all I can say is wow' the very generous portions of steak that we ordered we simply couldn't finish it all. service was too good. Stopped in on a Friday evening and caught the end of happy hour. Enjoyed the steak tacos, half wedge salad and the Brazilian salad with cilantro lime chicken. All gluten free and delicious! 10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND. This was our first time visiting de fuego & already can't wait to go back. We spent our 5th anniversary dinner here and left craving more! Lydia was our server, she was very kind and attentive. We sat by the bar which offered a happy hour from 4-6. We only ordered one item from the HH but there were plenty of entrees offered on there! The bar area was nice and plenty of seats for multiple parties. For drinks, We ordered the grumpy margarita & a Pilsner. The grumpy margarita was delightful with a moderate sweetness and a little spice! For a starter, we had the bone marrow bread and ordered a side of chimichurri. Each slice just melted in your mouth. We practically finished the whole loaf before our entree came out. For our main course, we chose the paradilla argentine asado platter (feeds 4). Each meat that came on the platter was cooked to perfection and the sauces/veggies that came complimented the dish. For a party of two, we only were able to make a small dent and happily came home with plenty of leftovers! Overall, i can't be happier to have found this restaurant. Tried the Happy Hour and was quite astonished at the quality quantity and reasonable price. Service was great and they they had my favorite IPA -Boneyard RPM. Octopus was perfectly cooked and delicious-they can do without the pineapple but that's just me. Steak bites was tender and the chimichuri sauce outstanding. They certainly did not skimp on the meats. The 2 pork belly taco was only $10 and so yummy. We are definitely coming back. read more
I wanted some place special to take a friend out to lunch for her birthday. Neither one of us had been here before but the online menu sounded good so we decided to try it. We were not disappointed! I had the Mesa Brunch Burger with bacon jam, garlic aioli, smoked gouda and a fried egg on a brioche bun, served with house potatoes. My friend had the Smoked Ham Benedict served on a croissant with poached eggs, hollandaise and house potatoes. Both were delicious and perfectly cooked. Parking is plentiful and easy to find as the restaurant is located inside the Monarch Hotel. Service was attentive and our classes were kept full. The dining room is spacious and clean, a nice bright inviting place to eat a meal. Probably my go to steak restaurant in the Portland area that consistently delivers a really good food for a reasonable price. Yes they're definitely our fancier or nicer quality steak restaurants out there but this one you can't go wrong with. They're usually not too busy and you can get in the same night unlike other places where you have to book in advance. Really cute restaurant great for families or if you want to do something a bit more romantic. Honestly, though it is a steak restaurant it has probably one of my favorite salads in the city. Don't skip on their version of a wedge salad. It's delicious. This time we got the octopus which I think I would pass on next time. But wasn't horrible. read more

Always have a great experience here. I have celiac and have to be gluten free. The staff are knowledgeable about the menu and I have never gotten sick here. Nice lounge entertainment in the bar area. Delicious margaritas. Have gluten free pizzas and burger buns. I often get the risotto which is one of my favorites. My coworkers love the happy hour menu. Took my boyfriend here on a birthday dinner. He said there's another steakhouse downstairs but wanted me to try the food in general. It's located inside a hotel with lots of parking spaces. Upon arrival, you are greeted. The place has a super cute ambience where it's perfect for celebrations or a date night. On to the food! Ceviche: was amazing packed with flavors. 5/5 Brussels: amazing and loved the sauce! 5/5 Argentine Asado: this was perfect portion to try the yummy meats and sauces. 5/5 Carrot cake: wasn't too sweet 4/5 Overall everything was great. Absolutely! There is a restaurant side and then a bar side. Kids are always there and plenty of food options for them.
