the food was amazing but our waiter was obviously drunk and I could not understand him. he did not give his name. he also accidentally mixed up our tab with a different table and forgot to write down multiple food orders. he had a bun in his hair but yeah really funny/odd to be that drunk at work read more

What a delight!!! Tonight was my second time visiting here (first time was restaurant week- everything was great) and I can't wait to visit again. For restaurant week I made a reservation, but this time (on a Saturday) we just popped in after visiting All Good, the beer/wine/cocktail next door (they also have an awesome antique spot). I don't leave reviews, normally, unless it's super great or horribly bad, and I would 1,000% like to shout out some positivity for this Italian spot. Massive Plus: - told we had to wait at least 30-45 minutes wherever by a very nice and sunny redheaded host (I did not get their name, but they were really nice and had a super cute dress and I just want them to know that they're awesome- hence being more descriptive). We got a text in about 10 minutes that our space was ready!!!! We had gone back to All Good to wait (BTW, if you're waiting for Cibo and go next door to get a beer, your drinks are $1 off!). We tried to chug, but we decided that our burpfarts would be best saved for after dinner than delicious IPA chugging, so we left the majority of them on the bar. -Food: Just order everything. We were sat at the bar and had a front seat view of the kitchen. Although everyone on the line was awesome, I asked the bartender/server the name of the person at the head of the line. His name is Gayo and he is a f***ing bad***!!! The restaurant was busy as heck and he just...did it. Watching him (as well as the rest of the kitchen staff, bar staff, and servers) work, was a pretty gorgeous ballet that I would suggest you pair with a bottle of wine. -That being said- our server/bartender was Christine and she was such a delight!!! I CAN NOT stress enough how many amazing people you get to meet when you're relaxed, calm, and have a sense of humor when you're out dining. Christine suggested an amazing Rosé (I definitely could chug that...nbd) was kind, funny, sweetly sassy, and you could really tell that she had dealt with busy days many many times before. There is almost zero space between the bar/kitchen/pass and everyone does such a great job dealing with it. Myself and my husband have already decided this is our new Italian spot and we hope you will love it too!!! read more

Dear Cibo, you have officially lost your way. My family would come here weekly prior to COVID. During COVID we ordered delivery a lot. Over the past couple of years we come in, but the experience hasn't been the same. Last night we walked out shortly after we had been seated due to the first 10 minute impressions. We stood in your entrance, waiting to be seated for 5 minutes and 6 different employees passed in front of us and didn't say a word...two employees passed us by multiple times. Finally, someone decided we were important enough to acknowledge and seat. As we followed her to the table, we were able to view her baby blue bra with her backless spaghetti strap dress. JFC...develop some uniform standards already so that I am not being engaged by someone in their trashy underwear. She came back to drop off a dirty water carafe and didn't say a word...not hello, not can I get you something to drink, not so and so is your server...nothing. After sitting for another 3 minutes with no interaction we got up and left. You were excellent at one point in your history. You had standards, you cared about service, and your food was reasonably priced. So basically, you are now offering much less for more. This is how restaurants go out of business in this ultra competitive hospitality environment. read more

Exceptional food and service at this Southeast gem. Great variety and wonderful wine selections. We will be back!

Every dish - salad, polenta fries, Cibo pizza was well-prepared & delicious. Server was great as well. The only downside is the woman at the DoorDash window who very curtly said "We'll seat you at 5" when it was 5:01 or past. Not an impermissible mistake, clocks vary, but the people behind us also waiting to get in were really upset with her attitude. read more

Nice, energetic vibe, good service, some fun menu items, and reasonably priced with fun ambiance

I have visited Cibo a multitude of times and I love coming back! Oddly enough, every single time I've visited, I order the Wild Mushroom Ravioli. My FAVORITE thing! I rave about it to everyone! Their drinks are also delicious - they have a variety of cocktails, NA drinks (I love their non-alc G&T), and wines (during my recent visit, we tried one of the sparkling red wines and I enjoyed it!). The service is spot-on - the servers are attentive and ensure that the table's food comes out in a timely manner at relatively the same time. The ambiance of the space is lovely as well - there is ambient lighting that isn't heavy overhead-lighting, and the plates have such unique designs... honestly dining here feels like I'm in my own living room. There are plenty of booths and table seating, all providing a cozy vibe. This is also my best friend's favorite restaurant, so I am bound to visit many more times in the future! I highly recommend! Be aware that this restaurant is on Division so street parking is the only option - on weekends in the evening, it'll be difficult to find anything close by. Be prepared to walk a few minutes (but trust me, it's worth the walk). read more

We went there for Easter dinner and were once again absolutely wowed by the food. Started with the fried shrimp appetizer. It was lightly breaded in tempura batter and was absolutely DELICIOUS with the spicy aioli. My husband is a chef and is really picky about his caesar salad as he is a master at it. He ordered it for us to share and it was perfect.. served the traditional way with whole romaine leaves and the dressing was garlicky and rich. Superb! Entrees were porcini ravioli.. Divine! and the Uncle Vittorio's Rib Ragu.. Both were excellent. Sara our server is an absolute gem.. lovely and attentive. We love Cibo's and highly recommend it if you're looking for authentic Italian in a hip atmosphere.. Conviently located on 35th and Division. read more

Great Italian joint that has very delicious food and a lot to choose from on the menu so it can be a little overwhelming, but all the descriptions of the dishes sound tantalizing. I highly recommend getting the arancini 16 for a starter and the wild mushroom ravioli or the southern homestyle spaghetti and meatballs. Very delicious dish with great aromatic flavors and booming mouth explosion in each bite. read more

Maybe we're slightly affected by the nicely poured cocktails at the beautiful high ceilinged bar, or by meeting the mythical magical unicorn of door dash, or by sitting at the secret "chef's table" where you get to see how great pizza is made at speed, or talking to the owner about the pizza oven he imported from Italy, but what what was I saying again? read more

After a long break, I came back to Cibo during my "Say goodbye to summer" frenzy and then found myself returning several times after that. Cibo is now one of my favorite places in all of Portland. I love the coziness of this place, especially at night. I usually grab a front-row seat at the bar and enjoy the lighting, the wooden bar-top, and the warmth radiating from the pizza oven. I've enjoyed their spaghetti and meatballs several times. It really hits the spot! And their Margherita pizza is delightful. They also have a great cocktail list and plenty of other dishes on their menu that I'd like to try someday. Service is always great. I'll be back! read more

The food was good and the service was fast. It's good for a date night during the week or a good spot to see some friends you haven't seen in a while. Prices were decent, I spent around $80 for two people. 1 Appetizer, 1 shared salad, and 2 entrees. read more

I love this spot! My boyfriend and I went on a double date with our friends the week before Christmas. The ambiance is very spacious / high ceilings, but still manages to be cozy. Our server was very attentive checking in right when we needed something without being overbearing. Everything we ordered was delicious! We started off with the bread and butter - definitely don't skip! We followed it up with pasta con vongole, ragu, spaghetti and meatballs, and pizza. Highly recommend Cibo if you're looking for great ambiance and amazing food! read more

There are a lot of good places to eat in this neighborhood, but Cibo is near the top of my list. The decor is sort of casual elegant. Service was friendly and cheerful. The menu is quite extensive, with helpful descriptions, and everything we ordered was delicious. With main, cocktail, and dessert, dinner came to about $50/person, which seems reasonable. read more

Saw this place about a month ago when attending a movie across the street. It looked inviting enough that I planned a date night with my wife...Dinner and a movie. I made reservations for about an hour and a half before the movie which worked perfect because the place packed up soon after we seated. It was a Saturday night and the inside was loud and crowded. Fortunately I had reserved an outside table. The wait staff was very pleasant and very accommodating and I really didn't have any issues with them except toward the end when we were waiting for our check. The real problem was the food. We started with the polenta fries. These came neatly stacked and looked beautiful on the plate, however, there was more crunch to them than there was flavor. I found it a challenge just to get through one piece. In addition they were served with a ramekin of marinara sauce that was cold. Not warm, not hot...COLD. There's nothing more unsatisfying than dipping a piece of hot food into a cold sauce. My wife got the special of the day, which was a salmon plate with asparagus. She did enjoy the plate and finished it however, she found several twigs of rosemary amongst the plate. I'm going to assume that they were used during the grilling process, but quite frankly, they should've been removed once the salmon was plated. In addition, the salmon was overcooked and rather dry. Now to the worst of the night, I ordered the fig pizza. My first bite was so salty that I had to immediately wash it down with water. The fig preserves were spooned onto the pizza in large clumps. I'd take several bites without fig and then get one bite that was nothing but fig. The cheese was also misbalanced and was heavier towards the crust and was so thick as times I struggled to chew it. Lastly the prosciutto was way overcooked and dry. I only managed to eat a 1/3 of the pizza and took the rest home. The next day I had one slice, and unfortunately tossed the rest in the trash...Yes, 1/2 of a $30 pizza went into the garbage. Sad, but true. We did enjoy the movie afterwards, but we won't be returning to Cibo as I found it to be an utter disappointment. read more

What a great little spot. We came for a birthday dinner and it is now my favorite spot for date nights, family celebrations and girls night out. First off the atmosphere. Quiet but lovely enough to people watch. The drinks were amazing! They made me a peach lemon drop that I will be dreaming of!! The service was the best I have had in a long while. Our waitress was awesome though I didn't catch her name. She has a cute bob esque haircut and we bonded over being from Orange County CA. And. She needs a raise! She was sweet ti the whole family and even celebrated our birthday guest without singing when she noticed the appalled look at the thought. The food was top notch and everything she reccomended was great! Prices were fair for the lovely atmosphere food and service and I had leftovers to spare! Next time you are looking for a date night. Try Cibo! read more

My son made a reservation for a family's birthday. We were seated right away, as we entered the restaurant. After the rest of our party arrived, menus were passed out, our drink orders taken promptly as were our food orders. One son was saying: he'd want to come here for his birthday! The birthday boy was given not one but two desserts (one to go). The seating was a bit tight, the son in the middle was kicking the guy in the middle. I was also being kicked (accidentally), by the 6 yrs. old in front of me. As he was being entertained by 'a lot of ants' crawling on the wall to his right. The service was outstanding! So was the food. read more

The food was NOT good. I had Saugus risotto. It wasn't cooked all the way and was gummy and lacked flavor. TERRIBLE. My husband had the bolognese and it was slimy and lacked flavor. The bread was bad and bland, the drinks were just blah and all four of us hated our food. We were all polite and just dealt with it but such a waste. It was our families first night in Portland and I was SO embarrassed I had picked the spot to eat. We always say how great ptown is for food... well not this place. Save yourself the money(it is not cheap) and embarrassment and go anywhere else. read more

I had the hanger steak which came with Tuscan fries and sautéed spinach. Steak was perfect medium rare. Chef's kiss. Vegetables were delicious and well-seasoned. Excellent Italian and a great, chic-but-not-intimidating atmosphere. My partner and I were able to do drinks, apps, and two entrees (the hanger steak and a pizza) for a very reasonable price-- I think before tip it came out to ~$85. The food was amazing and the server was very friendly. My only complaint is that where I was sitting it was absolutely freezing-- I'll have to bring a little jacket next time. read more

Kicked off Portland's Dumpling Week at Cibo with their spinach and ricotta ravioli and beef cheek ravioli were delicious! We also ordered the Soppresata pizza which was a little spicy with the calabrian chilies but subdued by the honey. The bolognese pasta was creamy and meaty! We loved Cibo and can't wait to try another pizza next time! read more

I really need to update my review. It's been a long time and I have been back twice for the pizza. Big difference from my old review. It was very good and it was nice they were willing to add prosciutto to the margarita pizza. The flavor was great, the prosciutto was thin and good crust. I will still say Ken's is better but here you also have many other options too and on a weeknight you can get in pretty easily. My husband had the pasta with sugp and really enjoyed it too. Another time I need to get that for myself. I even got a pizza to go once and walked 10 minutes home with it and was still very good. I like the atmosphere and cool bar design. The wine was good as was the service. read more

This, to me, is in the running for best traditional Italian food in Portland, and I don't say that lightly. We went here for a birthday for family. We all ended up ordering different entrees - pizza (excellent), hanger steak (great) and various pastas (all very delicious), as well as Tucson fries and homemade bread as appetizers. We just sort of divided up every entree to try everything and every bite was great. Just an excellent meal from start to finish. read more

We were going out with friends and decided to make a reservation at Cibo. I'm so glad we did because I would have been disappointed in missing out on this delicious meal! The environment was cozy but I didn't feel packed in and we were able to have comfortable conversation without having to raise our voices whatsoever to be heard. The staff was great. Our waiter was charming and attentive. We all had different vegetarian dishes with appetizers and wonderful desserts. The pizza was good and could have been a main dish for two. The raviolis were also very tasty and more reasonable for one person each. I loved the polenta fries and they were an excellent way to start the meal. However, my favorite dish was the olive oil cake for dessert. That's what will bring me back sooner rather than later. read more

Service was SLOOOOW. Took forever to get our food. Drinks were forgotten at the bar. Two orders were delicious and the other 2 (pasta) dishes were blah. We had such a wonderful experience here! The waitstaff was very attentive, personable and knowledgeable. This was our first time at Cibo restaurant in Portland. We didn't know what to expect, as we were taken there by a couple family members who were familiar with the place. All we knew was that it was Italian! The restuarant itself has a nice, cozy, warm vibe to it. Great for pleasant conversation without being too loud. Our server, Steve, was absolutely great! Friendly, helpful, and attentive. What more can you ask for? I had the Duck / pork ragu and it was so tasty! I have to say though, that the duck got a bit lost in the pork, but it was still delicious! I also ordered the Old Fashioned, and it too, was delicious! We'd definitely be happy to return and work our way through the menu! read more

This is more deserving of 3.5 stars. The place is a nice large space for gathering. We sat in one of the bigger booths which was very comfy. We ordered bread and salad for apps and pizza and bolognese for entrees. Our bread came out cold so we requested it to be warmed up but our server made some passive aggressive comment the request. Kinda took away from the dinner experience. The pizza was good but they provide you scissors to cut yourself. Not sure if this place is worth the price for the service. read more

Visited for Dumpling Week and ended up having a full meal here. Their dumplings were out of this world! Very filling and rich in flavor. Was craving some good ole spaghetti and their southern style hit the spot! The meatballs were huge and the entire dish had a nice lingering spice from the peppers used. It seemed like a medium size portion from the photos but had the filling of a large plate.
