    Tiramisu
    Jidapa A.

My top spot for pasta, hands down! Spaghetti Al Funghi is my forever favorite; rich, earthy, and perfectly cooked every single time. My husband's pick is the Vongole; fresh clams, light broth, and so comforting. Finally tried their Tiramisu today, and just the right sweetness, super balanced. Lovely ambiance, beautiful bar, and the friendliest staff. Definitely one of those places you keep coming back to.

    Pork ragu rigatoni

Lovely restaurant and ambience, really enjoyable food and experience! Massive portions with an easy 3 meals total for each dish, making it a great value for the experience. My favorite dish is the pork ragu, I also enjoyed the spaghetti bolognese and did not mind the spinach lasagna special. One thing missing in all of the dishes for me was spice. When I ate leftovers I added some chili flakes and various spicy sauces and it really took them to the next level. Overall, the flavors had some room for improvement for me, but it was a very authentic Italian restaurant with large portions and very interesting dishes and flavor combos.

This review is a formality, Ginos is an institution. The only thing better than the ambience here is the food. For a very old school place, the menu has been fluid over the years. Some changes better than others but you have to appreciate the flexibility. I'm not someone who drinks but the wine list here looks outrageous. I've had almost everything on the menu, so I don't really have the attention span to tell you about all of it. I'll say this, always get the Ceasar to start. If they are serving the hamburger, don't walk just run. Best pasta dish is tough but the pork ragu was wildly tasty. The steaks are tier 1. The desserts I mean say no more. That will be all. Grandma Jeans

So good! My husband and I split the Caesar salad and it was one of the best we've had. He got Grandma Jeans which was massive and delicious! I got the Funghi Spaghetti (at our server's recommendation) and it did not disappoint. Lots of mushrooms, caramelized onions, in a light cream sauce. Service was good. Cool, family style vibe. The back room was pretty warm, the front of the restaurant was much cooler.

Cioppino is to die for this dish is delicious, worth every penny!

This is hands down my favorite Italian go-to spot! I've tried several appetizers, but the clams & mussels are my absolute favorite--make sure to soak up that heavenly broth with some bread. The Cioppino is absolutely incredible! If you love seafood, this dish is packed with everything you could want, all in a rich, perfectly spiced broth that keeps you coming back for more! Worth every penny!

    Spaghetti and meatballs.

Amazing all around. This was our first time here and it won't be our last. Our group had spaghetti and meatballs, the salmon entrée, and the pork chop or delicious the spaghetti and meatballs a huge portion. Lots of meatballs-- we took about 1/3 of it home. The ambience is very cute/Italian. There is on the street parking and a nearby parking lot. It is a little noisy, but our table of six people worked well. Booths are also available and a party table of a dozen or more was accommodated.

We ordered an Italian sandwich which was delicious and Mudhoney Remix and a ginger beer. They have NA options and $1 off everything during happy hour (4-6 pm and all day Sunday). The bar has a nice cozy feel to it and a mellow look to it. Parking can be tricky at times like most places in the village, but I was able to find street parking in the residential area a block away. There is also a paid parking lot across the street if you don't want to walk much. Definitely going back again to try more of their drinks.

Checked out the menu and was given a recommendation based on my preferences. Settled on the Mudhoney cocktail... the Chardonnay foam was such a really fun touch! The prices are fair, and the small bites offer great options when you don't need or want a full meal. I ordered a side of pretzels and the bartender comped them because there weren't enough to justify a full portion. Very classy. The Muddy Rudder can hold it's head high in this arena. The interior has a great feel as an impressive log tabletop stretches out before you when one first enters. The bar is a nice, old wooden bar with the establishment giving a very warm embrace with it's rustic decor and charm. They have outside seating, both street side and in a side patio. As for the beer selection, they do a very good job curating. For example, until recently, one could almost count on there being an import beer on tap. They also do a good job of having a wide variety of styles, they have one on pull tap (if you are unfamiliar, give it a try - you will be glad you did) and they are constantly rotating with truly local brews. They also have a chalkboard which lists all the brews, their ABV and frequently the IBUs. There are 16 rotating taps. Kudos to the person running this part of the operation. As for the food, I have never been disappointed and I have eaten here frequently. I am a sucker for their strombolis. In NY, strombolis were a go-to meal at a pizzeria, but they are few and far between in the PNW. Not only does The Muddy Rudder have strombolis, they also make them in the true stromboli tradition. Do note that the pizza dough here is as close to NY as I have found in Portland, which obviously means try the pizza as well - it is very good. They then offer other food options which have also always only pleased. Do give this spot a visit - you will not be disappointed.

I ordered a spam musubi for my 2 year old, assuming it was plain since the menu explicitly listed it only with rice and nori. It came with green onions and spicy seasoning that weren't mentioned. The waiter knew I was ordering this for my son, but didn't check or mention the unlisted ingredients to make sure it was okay. I had to ask for a new one plain with just rice, spam, and nori after he took a bite and cried about it being too spicy. 15 minutes later, it STILL didn't arrive plain- it came out with green onions and the sauce. . . I was in disbelief but by then it was 7pm and my son had waited almost an hour to eat (mamas all know how I'm feeling), so I held my tongue and fed it to him, picking out the onions. If someone had a green onion allergy, this could have been much more serious. I debated back and forth to communicate this. When I mentioned the issue afterward so she could be more mindful, the waiter's "sorry?" came across as dismissive rather than receptive. I hope they take this feedback seriously and improve service, communication and attention to dietary requests. A menu update should also be considered.
