We've been coming to the roadhouse for years, as a matter of fact, since they opened some 20 years ago, so I've seen the difference and change in ownership and menu from when they first opened to now. Unfortunately the food quality and preparation has declined a great deal, portions are smaller, and the food and menu is just not what it used to be. The service is always been really good and consistent, which is the only reason I'm giving it two stars. They've taken away really good menu items, the quality of the meat and the fish isn't the same, the rolls aren't as good and are smaller in size. With an entrée you used to get a salad, vegetable and potato all included in the meal. Now you only get the choice of two sides. This place used to be busy starting at 4 o'clock pretty much every night of the week. When we went last night, the parking lot was barely filled at 5:30. I know times are tough, but I hope that the Roadhouse can make some improvements to their menu and the quality of their food that will help keep patrons like me coming back to give them another try. We may give them another try, but if we don't see improvement, unfortunately they will have lost us as regular customers. read more

Called ar 2pm for dinner reservations at 7:30 and was told if we make reservations we get to move to the front of the waiting list for the walkins. Arrived at 7:24 and waited 30 minutes and only after reminding them a 3rd time and having watched people get seated that "walked in" after us they rushed us past SEVEN open booths to finally seat us. 10 minutes so far and still no drinks. Walk in no hostess greets us, stand there while the hostess blatantly ignores me, until she asks if someone had gotten me taken care if I said no.. luckily there was a booth in the bar.. took 20 mins to get drinks, ordered the original ribeye and it was terrible, no flavor I asked for a side shrimp skewer...it was cold and also gross. I go for the dinner rolls... if they ever change those or get rid of them altogether, I probably won't go back. That being said, they have a couple of menu items that are very good: Dinner Rolls -- delicious yeast rolls with honey butter, mmmm Buffalo Ribeye Steak Smoked Salmon Egg Rolls Strawberry Lemonade Baked Sweet Potatoes The rest of what I've had there I would consider average, or even a little below average. Decent happy hour and good service but overall quality is pretty spotty. This place used to be a fun country steak joint but has lost its edge. one of my favorite local haunts in Gresham and only a mile away from farm. Our barbecue ribs were kinda smaller than they used to be in the past, still tasty, tender n melts off the bone. barbecue chicken is very good and grilled catfish is fabulous. we always order their baked sweet potato as one of our choices, comes sprinkled with brown sugar and whipped butter. Senior meal deal is plenty for my appetite with taking some leftovers home. They keep bringing their home baked famous hot yeast rolls, accompanied with honey butter. we always end up taking some rolls and sweet potato home. Joined their email club, getting email specials, birthday and anniversary deals. Adequate happy hour in bar with many choices. Took a group for birthday party, OK to be loud and noisy in bar. Free roasted peanuts in the shell, eat n drop the shells on floor, its expected !! usually quite a wait for tables during popular dinnertime when you can see there are tables available. Must be a shortage of workers, not as thriving of a restaurant as past years. Big parking lot, sometimes filled up on peak weekend and evenings. AMAZING food! Great selection, and the best quality. Come for the barbecue, stay for the (heavenly) cheesecake! We used to love this place in the mid to late 90s. We continued to frequent it into the 2010, but it went downhill. The last two times I've been really disappointed. Tonight I concluded I can get a steak of the same caliber at my local dive bar for half the price. My baked potato was not warm (butter didn't melt) and my husband's chicken fried steak came out without gravy. They brought some that looked like it had been sitting under the heat lamp for awhile. I'm wavering between a 2-star and a 3-star on this one. Roadhouse is one of the only restaurants left in Gresham that you can get steak, ribs, chicken or fish. However, the consistency of the food quality, flavor and accuracy is VERY inconsistent. I'm a fan of the grilled chicken breast and ribs combo. Sometimes, the chicken is a very thin breast that is dry & other times it will be a thicker breast that's tender and juicy. I've had the ribs when the meat is so tender it falls off the bone & I've experienced a rack of ribs that are dry and tough. The "famous" Roadhouse rolls have arrived table-side underdone and overdone. Why not set the time the same for every batch that goes in the oven. The same issues plague the Roadhouse Salad. One salad might have one onion while another could have four or five. The consistency needs to improve. If there was another place, I'd frequent this place less often, but the restaurant options in G-town aren't great. We have more wireless cell businesses than we do good steakhouses. read more

Came in tonight for a casual dinner in the bar area. Our server, Kayla, was prompt and courteous when we sat. She had our beverages delivered quickly and was on to help other tables just as kindly and promptly. She made the rounds to her tables and I could hear her check with each table to meet their needs. Our food was delicious and she was quick to refill the delicious dinner rolls when they ran out. She finalized our meal with togo containers and a fast checkout. My favorite part of the Texas egg rolls is the jelly. Apparently they were out but didn't bother to say so when I ordered. They just made up something that tasted like the inside of a garbage can smells. When I asked if it had gone bad then they told me. They offered ranch instead ! Because I've had decent experiences in the past (and we like their Roadhouse Kool-Aid), I am giving them two stars instead of one star after last night's debacle. I will be gagging for months now when I think about this place. My husband and I ordered steaks medium--I had a ribeye; he had NY strip. When I say medium, I mean done on the outside and pink and juicy in the middle. Well, my steak came out strange looking--like some sort of random botched up globs of meat that barely looked cooked. When I cut into it, it was bleeding and basically raw/blue. Disgusting. And doesn't a ribeye normally have a bone in it? No bone in mine--just as I say, weird hunks of meat all twisted around and raw. A biology class could have used it for an anatomy lesson. My husband's steak (NY strip) looked a little better but his was blue in the middle too. So, though we hate to cause a fuss, in this case it was definitely worth it to send the steaks back. It took 15-20 minutes to see our steaks again (!). By that time I was totally full on rolls and my baked potato (which was good) and pretty much so grossed out by my raw steak, I was done with the idea and pondering becoming a vegetarian. But FINALLY the steaks came back out (with whole new baked potatoes--which that was nice except we were too full to eat them). Well now my ribeye was "cooked' but tasted like one big charcoal briquet marinated in lighter fluid. No residual steak flavor at all and I almost gagged again. My husband's was also not cooked (after 15-20 minutes?? really??). So we told our waitress to forget it. Our waitress was very nice and apologetic. I know it wasn't her fault. Roadhouse did comp us our meals and appetizer and offered to send us home with free deserts (which we declined) but we appreciated the gesture. But considering this is a STEAK HOUSE, whoever is in charge of cooking steaks needs to go back to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. My dog could have made better steaks and he doesn't even have opposable thumbs. Needless to say, I won't be going back to Roadhouse any time soon. read more

I've been here once before and my steak wasn't anything satisfying. We recently had some friends come to town and they really wanted to try Roadhouse Grill, so we decided to give them another chance. This time the food was a little better but that service was very unprofessional. After we ordered our drinks (our friends ordered alcoholic beverages and their ids were checked). While we were waiting to get our drinks and looking through the menu, the manager (some female) came up to our table and in the rudest way demanded to see out ID's. She didn't just ask but very rudley said "GIVE ME YOUR IDS" with out really explaining anything. The waitress just checked or IDs and she was a little young looking so maybe she understood less. But the manager could have been a little nice and at least asked if she can see our ids because maybe our waitress couldn't tell how to read an I'd. But instead she didn't explain anything and was very rude. I do not think I will return read more

However, the last time I was here I had the best service! We sat in the bar and I wish I had asked the waitress name. You could call the atmosphere as dark and loud. It is a peanut strewn floor of a steakhouse. The place was somewhat clean. The table could've used a wipe down. But, the service was fast. They didn't have the drink I requested on hand but the waitress was quick to suggest another similar drink. The steak was alright. Not a screaming gift from the cows but not bad. They got my order right. But the potatoes I ordered were very salty. To the point where I couldn't eat it. I got garlic green beans as well. And I wish I ordered something else. I came here tonight excited for a good steak and to celebrate my brothers birthday. The servers are friendly and the atmosphere is rustic. The salads arrived and and just as my wife was applying the dressing, our steaks arrived. No problem, didn't need a salad anyway. I had a filet tonight which arrived on a skillet, which I was warned was quite hot yet was not able to melt the additional butter it was served with. I picked it up and was barely warm to the touch. When my server asked if I would be needing anything else I responded by asking for some utensils in order to eat my meal. After quite some time waiting I decided to get my own at which by that time my steak was already cold and no longer appetizing. After a brief conversation with the manager he said that I would not be charged for the meal but was to go ahead and enjoy the steak anyway. I mean.... it was ice cold by now! I had no interest in eating by time I had complained so I don't know why he thought that I would have any interest in it now? Time to pay the bill, which still had my uneaten steak on it. Fun atmosphere (peanut shells on the ground) - totally had a Merlotte's vibe - True Blood fans will get this - that's perfect for a grillhouse. Second time eating here was last night (we were starving!) and the service on a Friday night was quick - especially since we'd called ahead to reserve our seats (awesome). The dinner rolls with honey butter were amazing and we totally filled up on them and peanuts. Delicious root beer float. Service was prompt and pleasant. The price on the single side meals was reasonable and frankly - after eating the peanuts, rolls and dinner salad...barely had room for the main course! We all ended up going home with some kind of left-overs, and the tri-tip tasted just as awesome reheated today as it did last night. My garlic potatoes were not entirely appetizing (honestly, my husband makes better), but the baked potatoes were tasty. I would definitely come here if I was in the mood for BBQ. This was the worst dinner that I have had in a long time. Started with petty little to no ice in the iced tea. Then went severely diluted ranch with the salad. Looked over at the tabasco sauce, and it had an inch of water sitting on top. The steaks came out and they were so chewy & dry, I had to spit a bit out. The steak was horribly over cooked. The waitress could not understand why I was saying the steak should be red, not brown. She asked if I wanted them to throw it back on the grill. I couldn't help but laugh at that one. She stated she would/ and did alert the manager. No sign ever came of the manager, Audi. I guess she got tired of making the excuse of short staff.
