Waiting an hour for Oregano's used to be worth it, but now that isn't the case anymore. A small fraction of the reason behind it is the service but more so it is the quality of the food. The wait: We had to wait an hour for a table of 2 on a Saturday night which is par for the course for a restaurant like Oregano's. I think the wait was exacerbated by the fact that there was no outdoor seating due to the heat. The hostess wasn't even outside because of it which is understandable. However, there were no accommodations for those who waiting in the 100+ degree heat. There were no misters, fans, or anything to help stay cool. I've been to this location many a time and remembered someone coming out with a pizza as a sampling for people waiting. I think at the very least there could have been someone peeking out periodically to hand out waters or something. It wasn't a fun experience. The Staff: The hostess was great, no problems with her. Our waiter was also very nice but inattentive to our table. Things we asked for were often forgotten. I saw our order of fries and wings and sides of sauce waiting at the kitchen as I passed by them to go to the restroom. We continued to wait for them until another worker (I think the manager as she seemed to be helping out and delegating) dropped them off. The fries were slightly cold but the wings stayed warm. It seemed like we had to wait long stretches of time before our waiter would say anything to us. I don't want to undermine the fact however that he was very nice to us but never apologized for leaving us waiting. The waiting got so bad to a point where we had to ask someone else for some boxes and the check. I know that restaurants are struggling with the great resignation and a lot of people are pulling double duty, so I don't blame our waiter entirely however it did seem he was more attentive to other tables One thing that is NOT OKAY was one of the cooks who was plating out the food would be on his phone between getting food out and not once put gloves on or washed his hands after handling his phone. Cell Phones are one of the dirtiest things we handle on a day to day basis and it is unsanitary for someone handling food to also be handling their phone at the same time and not wash their hands or put on gloves. The food: We ordered the wings and fries, the big rig pasta with sausage, and the bistro pizza with pepperonis. The wings were the best part of the meal. Despite hanging out for a long period of time and the fries being somewhat cold, the wings stayed warm and were delicious albeit different from the classic oregano wings I fell in love with so long ago. The Big Rig pasta was dramatically under seasoned we constantly were having to salt every bite. The pizza was both undercooked but tasted burnt at the same time. We suspected that the ovens weren't cleaned in between pizzas and the corn meal used to keep the pizzas from sticking was just getting more and more burnt and sticking to the new pizzas that were being cooked. The moisture from the raw tomatoes on the pizza also caused the dough to be soggy. It just wasn't a pleasant dining experience. We got boxes so we can have leftovers as it was not a cheap meal. Overall I don't think we will be going back to Oreganos any time soon. The two reasons being the quality of the food and the cook on his phone. It's such a shame because this was one of our favorite spots but the quality has gone so downhill. read more

I have been going to Oreganos since thy open. Every time I have out of town visitors, I take them there. I have always experienced great food and service. I went there last Thursday to eat and take out. It as around 3pm and I sat down at the bar. I wouldn't put my things down because the counter had not been cleaned. That was very concerning to me because of Covid. Steven came over to get me a drink and give me a menu. I asked him if he could clean the counter which he did and apologized and told me he was just coming in and finding out what was going on. I have to wonder why the person before him just left without cleaning. I had ordered my food and told him I wanted calamari to go with a side of ranch. Stephan was very friendly and provided excellent customer service. When I was done eating I was ready to order the calamari with a side of ranch. You can only imagine my disappointment when I got home and I was given a side of marinara instead of ranch! My boyfriend is allergic to tomatoes and wanted ranch. Also, the calamari is usually really good and covered in seasoning and Parmesan cheese. It was so bland that we ended up throwing it away. I will hesitate before dining there again. read more

One of the best at this location, and one of their long-time servers, is Senya. Senya is one of the hardest working and most knowledgeable servers I have ever known, and she has an excellent understanding of both the food and the drink menus at this Oregano's. She is very friendly and kind, and interacts so well with the customers. She really works hard and is always working to make the dining experience for customers as good as it can be. We were in Arizona for Spring Break and tried Oregano's based on the recommendation from some friends. So glad we followed their advice. Ordered two pizzas online for pick up. When I arrived the place was hopping with many patrons and tons of friendly staff (with masks). While I waited, I saw (and smelled) so many appealing dishes. The food looked amazing making me wish I had ordered more besides pizza. There was an error with our pizza so the owner/manager greatly apologized and did all she could to make it right for us. The pizza was hot and tasty (large thin pepperoni and large sausage and mushroom Chicago style) and the cookie pizza with ice cream she gave us was a delicious treat. I am writing to tell you of the frustration ordering last night at your Camelback location in Phoenix. We did an online order for a salad, and it said it would be ready at 6:45. When we got there, it was not ready. It was jam-packed with people, and it seemed quite chaotic. It still was not ready for an additional 30 minutes until 7:15!  A lot of other customers were also impatiently waiting for their pickup orders too, to make matters worse, many people did not wear masks in a very crowded, enclosed, dense area, we felt very uncomfortable in there, and couldn't wait to get out of there. CDC guidelines & recommendations are now saying that in an enclosed, crowded space, masks now should be worn again, it was very surprising to see most of your workers not wearing masks, as well as most customers. I guess we'll just continue to see new Covid cases skyrocket.  :( Also, the salad seemed to be on the small side, I assumed we were going to get the larger size salad, so that was another disappointment. We also paid an extra $3.99 for sliced chicken, and it was more like diced up, shredded chicken, and there wasn't really that much of it, so that felt like a rip-off to us. read more

While visiting my son out in PHX, he turned us on to this place. It was jam packed and even though we had reservations the wait was still a bit long. Once inside, I understood why it was packed. The atmosphere was poppin' and all I saw were smiling faces with amazing looking dishes in front of them. We sat in a booth surrounded by 50s nostalgia. Our servers (we had a 2fer.. on the job training) were very friendly and super funny. The newbie server was too funny. He was learning the menu along with us! haha. :P His trainer suggested we try the Huge Guaca-Tony for starters. THANK YOU FOR THAT SUGGESTION! It was sooo delicious and filling. The plate was probably the size of my laptop. I had a taste of his dish and I almost had regrets in getting the salad instead. The pasta was seasoned all the way through and the chipotle cream was the cherry on top of this mound of yumminess. I ordered 3 entrees online and when I got home, I only found 2 in my bag. I only live around the corner so I turned around and they remade it - it seems it was either placed in the wrong bag or forgotten altogether. Management was apologetic but didn't offer anything in addition to the remade sub (refund, free drink or dessert, etc). Several bites into my sandwich, I see a string of something, so I pull it off of my fork and discover it is a hair. I stopped eating at that point and found 3 more hairs - they appear as if they are from a long-haired dog or cat. I called the restaurant and notified them of the discovery, and management was shocked and again apologetic, and offered a refund (for the single dish only, not the whole order). I'd be wary of the Surprise, AZ location; questionable cooks and management. I'm not sure if I'll go back but it used to be a favorite spot. read more

I was in charge of a large-ish event of 90 people. After complaints in past years of not enough food and not good enough food, I was determined to change that. We decided upon Oregano's to cater the event. Cutting to the end, it went flawlessly. The delivery was precisely on time, the setup was amazing, and the food was outstanding. Danielle the delivery person was incredible. I was told by the Catering Manager to not blame her that she didn't warn me we would have too much food. We DID have too much food, and it was wonderful. 80 meatballs (poof) gone. Salads galore, lots of delicious garlic bread, and the amazing pastas with EXTRA sauce. Not a Tupperware of sauce, but an entire tray of extra sauce. People were piling on food and sauce and went back for seconds and more. We then had enough for mass leftovers for those that didn't attend the party, and we still have some food left for now. It is going quickly. The ordering and coordination went perfectly, it was very reasonably priced, and the mass amounts of food made the day. 100% satisfied and will easily do it again for a future event. read more

Nothing I like more than ordering food to go and having to microwave it when I get home (all thanks to the worthless manager tonight 11/30/23). Ordered online at 5:45 for pick up at 6:30pm. Granted the to go section was very busy but the incompetent manager did nothing to help the poor girl that was flooded with orders. Multiple bags just sitting at the expo line. When I brought it to his attention his response was "I'm trying to seat people" there was literally 4 people that walked in to be sat. I arrived at 6:35pm to pick up and didn't not leave until 6:55 all the while the food sat there in a bag waiting. I like Oregano's. All the dishes offer a unique take, the portions are enormous, and the prices are kiiiiinda fantastic. Like, I hope I don't ruin that with this review... I like the Vino Bambino salad in particular. Like, who'da thought pinto beans, caesar dressing, and sun dried tomatoes would work together? The chicken in it is inexplicably good as well. Add a cheesy bread with a cup of addicting marinara and you have an amazing, big dinner for two that's only, like, $20, maybe less. The knock is, of course, the wait times. Last night my daughter and I went for dinner giving the server took our order and brought things out, she asked us the kitchen is closing is there anything else no, figured my pizza will be out shortly. Mini me took us here as it is one of her favorite places to eat. We ordered a calamari starter and I got the Painkiller drink. It was good not too sweet. Mini me enjoys their pasta with spaghetti sauce and always takes another bowl home. Hubby got the meatball sub that came with homemade chips and coleslaw and I ordered the Italian Flag Lasagna. Our calamari starter came pretty quickly and we all enjoyed it. We all like the batter and seasoning on the calamari as well as the marinara sauce that it came with. It took a while for our food to come out but when it came out finally the food looked good. When they brought out the main dishes to us, they offer to put cheese on top and you can have as much as you like. We all enjoyed the food. I noticed there was a kick in the sauces though but I truly did enjoy and liked my lasagna and definitely would get that again along with the garlic bread. The portions are generous and priced right. For everything we got, it came to about $53 before tip. I got to try the chips on hubby's plate and we both agreed the chips were so delicious. read more

We found Oreganos while vacationing here a few months back. Little did we know it was a chain? Thing is it doesn't feel like one & that's just something we love about dining at Oreganos. You can get a Chicago pan pizza and a thin crust and be quite happy with both. Don't forget to finish your meal off with a pizza cookie topped w/icecream omg! We visited on a Friday around 4 and when we left the place was packed! I guess we're not the only ones who love Oreganos. read more

I've eaten lunch and dinner at Oreganos quite a few times. Today I went for lunch, and asked for the Lasagna. This is the worst dish I've had there . The sauce, of what there was of it was dry. The dish was practically burnt. My first bite I tasted nothing but oregano. What was the cook trying to hide. I actually took my dish apart . Every layer had lots of leaves of oregano with stems. Oregano is a spice to flavor a dish not be used to hide the dish. I couldn't eat it, it was horrible. read more

ALERT RACISM PLACE!! Avoid this place if you care about equality. Tonight we dined in but came out disappointed and discussed. When we got seated. We were feeling the heat and no air at all in whole side of the area we were sat. We asked our server Allison (btw who was new at her role so definitely this post isn't against her) to seat us outdoor pointing at empty seats that were available and there were multiple tables available as it was really hot and not able to breath she even agreed it's been hot and apologized after I even showed her I was sweating. Allison came back with mote apologize and stated I wish I could do more. We also accepted and moved on. Things got crazy when people came after us and sat behind us and complained how hot it was just once contradict to 3 times we had to talk to Allison. Those people got moved right away to one of outside table. If you read this post and don't find it RACISM tell me what it is? To add to that manager comes and says it was misunderstanding and I apologize, really? We had her go talk to host and come back with answer. She never came back and Allison our server came back saying we complemented your food for today. We got even more mad because to hide RACISM Is this a tactic? Are we trying to do right thing by speaking up against RACISM and others easily consider that we are asking for free food? I denied the comp food and made aware I won't leave till I pay for my food. That wasn't the message. Note, manager still didn't come and some guy came and said if I was sure and want to pay because it was there fault and they will take care of it. I ended up paying but folks RACIST HOST AND UNEDUCATED MANAGER IS STILL THERE. Will never go there and I hope they shutdown soon as there are no room for RACISM.
