I was looking forward to this pizza since they put the toppings all the way to the edge, and had ricotta as a topping! They did indeed put toppings to the edge, but they were out of ricotta. It didn't matter much anyway though, because the crust was dry, and very reminiscent of dominoes from the 90's - cardboard. I have been passing by this place for two months now after moving into the neighborhood. My curiosity was certainly peaked. It finally opened last week. This place is super Adorbs! I am giving it five stars because of the simplicity, uniqueness, and the community involvement aspect. Although the pizza is pretty good too. It is literally only a counter inside to order with a small cooler of coke, and Pellegrino water. Heads up, they only have three items on the menu to include pizza, wings, and a salad. It's name fits it well. It is literally a small shack. It reminds me of a beach snack shop. There is a small picnic area boxed in with some pretty AZ Orange trees for you to eat. Summertime it is probably more a togo place. However, with this gorgeous unseasonable weather I did sit outside last night. I thoroughly enjoyed the peace of relaxing for a few and eating my salad and pizza. I imagine this would be a great place to bring a book and just veg out with your food when the weather cools off. Just for a little while though since the area is small. That is if other patrons are waiting. The lot is small, only three parking spaces since it was a house before. However, there is a small strip mall around front that might have more parking. it is more a community walk up place, which is the feel the owner was going for. Shawn is the owner and he is an amazing person. He is so friendly and very cool to talk to. The day I went the credit card machine was broken and he let me owe him the cost of the meal. That was pretty amazing of him to do that. when I went back to repay him I just really enjoyed chatting with him about food and the neighborhood. Check it out. Ok, so I read several reviews some good, some not so good but being only 10 minutes away and never heard of this place, I had to give it a try. Ordered online. Got there and the lady at the counter was so extremely nice, giving out parmesean and red pepper packets and also asking if I needed paper plates. On the way home I couldn't resist taking out 1 slice to try what I hoped would be my new Go To Pizza place....screeeeeech.....Toppings looked great. First bite....WTF is this crust? It's a combination of Leather and Rubber is the only way I can describe it. I ate the whole piece and knew I am not hallucinating about what I thought after the first bite. Got home, told my wife I have a Pizza but didn't say a word about it. She came down to get a piece. Took 1 bite and asked me where I got it. She took 2 more bites and said "I can't eat this". I laughed and told her I didn't want to say anything until she tried it. Since it was still warm, I jumped in my car and "Donated" it to some homeless people at 36th st and Thomas. I worked at a "Pizza Shack" when I was in college, and the pizza there was great. This pizza shack is just as great. Tried out a large pie and it was a homerun. It's not a thin midwest style crust, and it's not a thick hand tossed style crust. It's somewhere in between . The toppings are top quality. They put something special in the sausage. Sauce was spot on also. Fantastic pizza place and I highly recommend trying it. It will most likely be your default pizza shop, if you're in the area. First of all, pizza is my favorite thing in the world. That being said, I've been ever so patiently waiting for this spot to open as it's literally a couple houses away from mine, behind the smoke shop at the end of the street. When it finally did open, I was not disappointed! Great pizza, thinner crust but not soggy/flimsy or overly crispy/crunchy. Has a great texture, flavor and good "chewyness" to it. Great variety of toppings, and the owner is very nice as well. Went here for the first time earlier this week and have already gone back again. We will definitely be regulars here! Easily 5 Stars. My fiancé and I just moved into the neighborhood, we don't have any silverware/plates/ranch/CRP. The owner we believe or just the pizza guy was very nice and accommodating, gave us everything we needed. The pizza was cut into many slices, making it easier to eat. We got the pepp/jalapeño and it was delicious, very fresh ingredients and a ton of jalapeños. The undercarriage was cooked to perfection, nice crisp w no flop. Yes, yes YES!!! This is the best pizza in Phoenix! It IS a hidden gem! I don't say that lightly. Went yesterday with the hubby. Shawn Culp is the owner/proprietor. It IS a shack, a converted home that has no inside dining, just a counter, it is purely grab and go, unless you are as lucky as we were to go when the temperature outside is moderate. They have several outside tables to accommodate seating with a plethora of fruit trees and olive trees, very peaceful for being off 16th street between Osborn and Thomas. The hours are very limited. As a "foodie" this is NOT a detraction but a boon. This is a one man operation. Shawn is the only employee and owner running the whole thing himself! Thin crust pizza with all the crust, toppings and sauces made on site!!! The crust is thin and chewy and delicious. Slightly burnt on the outside edges (Yes people a light burn adds flavor!) The sauce slightly spicy and memorable! All, the ingredients are fresh and cut by hand, to order. They have 4 sizes of pizza S-XL. The wings are baked, they have one salad to offer (trying that next time) that is all. Prices are out of this world for such a hand made gem! Cost was $35 for a large (14 inch) with 5 toppings ($14.00 cheese with $1.50 per topping), $11.50 for a dozen wings (bufflo or BBQ, we got the buffalo) with 2 ranch cups. One soda in a bottle (there is no soda fountain or flat water) and a Pellegrino water. We took the rest home and it was a STRUGGLE to not devour the rest for breakfast today. On a side note, my husband Sean had a great convo with owner Shawn. He's truly one of the best people we've met in our life, committed to quality, no nonsense and doesn't advertise on social media and lives by word of mouth. His son owns Restaurant Progress on Montecito. If you are looking for great pizza, please look no further, this is it. Not sure about some of these 5 star reviews because we ordered a pepperoni/sausage pizza and wings. Would have been better off getting a frozen pizza from Fry's. This pizza looked nothing like the pictures, pretty skimpy on the toppings and the sauce was bland. Crust was okay at best. "Medium" wing sauce was too spicy.
