    Lunch time!

We finally made it in and were surprised to find a menu beyond just pizza. We ordered a 16" pepperoni and mushroom pizza, it was delicious! I would say it is a NY style slice, it's got a good crust for sturdiness but is is not as thick as a barros or Pizza Hut hand tossed, more like Venezia's. Service was friendly and quick, he told us 20-25 minutes and turned it around in about 13 minutes. I also ordered a cannoli and it was amazing, among the best I have had. Cool little deli spot with outdoor seating. Definitely worth a stop if you like a traditional slice and/or a good cannoli.

You can order by the slice, and this is mine [with my choice of toppings jalapeno/pineapple/and pepperoni] to eat in!

The Pizza crust is trash, could use more pizza sauce. I don't even see the pizza sauce on my pizza. Whoever made my pizza you overcooked it and I do not appreciate that. Wings are bomb though. I'm from LA and phoenix this is not the best pizza in town. You guys don't even deserve one star.

Wrong pizza despite receipt showing otherwise.

Ordered two pizzas. Got two. One correct. One incorrect. Ordered via their website but apparently they have door dash deliver. They tried to blame delivery service and make me return it despite the fact that I paid for delivery. Would not make this right tonight. Won't be ordering from them again. Completely unhelpful on the phone and not even remotely apologetic. Will be reporting the charge to my credit card.

Was off to Wally's Pub, on 44th St, next to Steak on 44. Was told Wally's has the very meatloaf in town but when I looked, I was put off by the $27 price tag. So I pulled over at 40th Street and got myself the best 4 or 5 meatball sandwich in town @pizzaon40th. For $8.95. Not $18.95, $8.95!!!! FABULOUS! Great meatballs, not too much breadcrumbs. Great sauce. Sweet, not too sweet, no bitter. Plenty of cheese. There was so much cheese on my sandwich I remember thinking when I go back and get another one of these, and I'm coming back! I'm gonna tell them "half cheese". I just don't need that much cheese. When did anyone get a terrific $9 meatball sub that had too much cheese? A terrific sandwich, I ate the whole damn thing. Thank you!

This pizza was so tasty! We got some slices and added toppings and it was delicious. Probably not the most economical way to order, but it was good. Service was very kind and really great. There's not much seating but there's still some if you'd like to eat it there :).

Slices Reasonably Priced Being from back East, finding a slice of NY style pizza can be a challenge, but Pizza on 40th, is rhe place to go. Great tasting pizza, New York style with crispy crust, flavorful sauce, just the right amount of cheese abd toppings, made to perfection. There are plenty of options to choose from on their menu with something for everyone and the cost is more then wallet friendly. So if you're looking for a slice or two and drink, stop in you won't be disappointed.

Having to give them 1 star here is way too generous cause the only thing worse than their lousy pizza is their service, or lack there of!!!!

Amazing, unique experience!…read more I arrived with the preconceived ideas about being jostled in long lines in a poorly cooled pizza joint, sitting in a crowded restaurant at plastic tables eating plastic food. That misconception disappeared immediately upon stepping through the doorway. Warm, inviting ambiance, full of character. Attending the birthday celebration for an esteemed young man, our table wasn't ready (we were early) and the hostess offered us seats at the bar while awaiting our party. We each had a wine spritzer... may I say that the very few such concoctions I've had bearing that name didn't do justice to what we were served. I've never had anything like this, a "Sgroppino" (I'm partial to strawberry!) and it was perhaps the best adult beverage I've had in a very long time. Many different nuances in a glass. Stunning subtle, many diverse flavors. Mmm. Our bartender was an artist of the mixed adult beverage, a delightful individual with a warm, genuine smile and an encyclopedic knowledge of how to do his job expertly. Rare that you meet someone like this who isn't all measuring cups and shot glasses: everything he concocted was done by eye, and judging by what he made for us, his expertise was immediately apparent. Ben fatto. È andata benissimo, brava. When we'd all arrived, we were escorted to the "garden shed"... a smaller out-building filled with racks of wine, perhaps an ideal place for small wedding receptions or engagement parties. Well-cooled despite our broiling Phoenix evening. We had the garlic bread; someone ordered IL Tagliere, Calamari (no, thank you), and a basket of bread. You know how you go to a hamburger joint and what you're served looks nothing like the photos of their menu? Go to CiBO's web site and look at their menu: What you see in their photos is what you get. One visit and next time you look at their menu online, you'll salivate. Yes, the food is that good. I ordered the calzone. Delicious. Getting through it wasn't pretty... but it was excellent. Huge, very generous entree. Excellent flavors. Our server was delightful, attentive without being a nuisance. Our water glasses never reached empty, and the stories about the birthday boy (and others) were never interrupted. We never made it to desserts. Too much food and amusing stories. CiBO: È andata benissimo, brava.

We ordered a couple of sodas and the same slices we ordered last time, pepperoni and vodka slices. The slices were delivered in no time! They were hot and crispy! I don't know what happened, but the quality just wasn't there. I could not taste the sauce on my pizza. It was non existent. It was like eating pizza bread with cheese and pepperoni. The Vodka pizza had no detectable sauce on it either. It also tasted just like cheese bread. I don't know if its because of different pizza makers or the new standard, but I was disappointed. I was very impressed last visit and even made a statement that the Vodka slice may be my new favorite. I was a little let down this time around!

You can also get a whole pie of your choice. They grate fresh parm on all the slices which I thought was a nice touch. The girl at the register seemed very knowledgeable about all the pizzas and gave us lots of details and recommendations which we appreciated. First we got the green, di Parma, and the Phoenix. The green has pistachios and fresh arugula on it, I thought the overall flavor was too sweet and the pistachios weren't crush enough. The Phoenix was good, very honey forward and overall the flavor didn't stick out to me. The di Parma was a cheese pizza with procuttio and ricotta, overall a little plain to me. I think they all would've tasted better hot, but I understand that's not super realistic for a slice shop. For our second order we got the vodka sauce slice, which was for sure my favorite. First of all it was piping hot, and that elevated the whole experience. I thought the sauce was so flavorful and savory, and the basil made a perfect bite. I would go back for a whole pie of this! I really liked the prices here, we got dinner for less than $25 for 2. I wouldn't mind coming back to try some other slices and get a pie of the vodka!

I won't add to my previous review regarding the food, as it is still just as fantastic. And while the old location had its charm (mainly that it was more intimate and a bit quieter), the new location is overall an immense improvement. First of all, it is much larger, modern, and very tastefully decorated without losing as much of the intimacy as they could keep. For instance, the decor on the walls makes you feel like you are somewhat at home, with photos of the Spinato family and other tasteful finishes. Everything is comfortable without being too casual or formal. It's definitely more open concept now, and bar-lovers will appreciate the full bar, as the old location only had a tiny one. The covered patio area is much nicer, and with an eastern exposure, it should bake in the sun less than the old place's western exposure for most of their operating hours. We were seated at a half-booth, and the restaurant was very crowded because it was their first Friday night at this location. Nonetheless, we arrived early enough to be seated without a wait. I will say that the food took a very long time to arrive--40 minutes or more--but I'm chalking that up to the crowd and growing pains at the new location. Our server recognized us, welcomed us to the new place, and was as friendly as usual, though he didn't have much time for chat-chat with how busy they were. Very much looking forward to more visits to Spinato's at this fabulous new location!

Lil Capo Pizzeria 5.0/5 The Closest Thing to New York…read morePizza I've Found in Arizona Growing up in Upstate New York, I admittedly have high standards when it comes to pizza. After moving to Arizona in 2007, I've spent years searching for a slice that genuinely reminds me of home. While there are plenty of decent pizza spots throughout the Valley, very few capture that authentic New York style. Lil Capo Pizzeria absolutely does! Ironically, I first discovered Lil Capo after an Arizona Cardinals game. Like many people, I wasn't interested in paying stadium prices for mediocre food, so I jumped on Yelp looking for something nearby. Lil Capo had outstanding reviews, so we decided to give it a try. I'm glad we did because it's now my benchmark for New York-style pizza in Arizona. The first thing that stood out was the crust. This is exactly what a New York slice should be--thin, crispy on the bottom, slightly chewy inside, sturdy enough to fold, and never overloaded with grease. So many places think "New York style" simply means making a large slice. Lil Capo understands it's really about the balance of crust, sauce, cheese, and texture. Every bite reminded me why I miss pizza back east. The sauce has just the right amount of sweetness and acidity, the cheese is perfectly proportioned, and everything tastes fresh without trying to reinvent what already works. Sometimes simplicity executed well is the hardest thing to accomplish. Pizza: 5/5 Service was equally impressive. The staff was welcoming, friendly, and efficient. After selecting our slices, they quickly reheated them to perfection and had them on our table within minutes. It's exactly what you want from a neighborhood pizzeria--fast, relaxed, and genuinely hospitable. Service: 5/5 I also appreciated the atmosphere. Lil Capo isn't trying to be flashy or trendy. Instead, it has that classic neighborhood pizzeria feel where the focus stays exactly where it should--on making outstanding pizza. It's casual, comfortable, family-friendly, and somewhere you could easily become a regular. The pricing is another pleasant surprise. Considering the quality of the pizza and the generous slice sizes, I found everything to be very fairly priced. Overall Finding authentic New York-style pizza in Arizona has been surprisingly difficult over the years, but Lil Capo delivers exactly what I've been searching for. Authentic New York-style crust Excellent sauce-to-cheese ratio Minimal grease Friendly, efficient service Fair prices Comfortable neighborhood atmosphere I've eaten pizza throughout New York my entire life, and Lil Capo remains the closest I've found to the real thing anywhere in Arizona. Whenever I'm on the west side of the Valley--or heading to or from a Cardinals game--I find myself looking for an excuse to stop in. Next time, I'm skipping the slices and ordering an entire pie. If you're a fellow New Yorker living in Arizona and craving a slice that tastes like home, Lil Capo should be at the top of your list.
