Orgeno's home of the "angry jazz" and on this night it appears angry server. I mean I get we came in an hour before closing but come on. It was an hour. Had calamari to start. Was good but really nothing beats the cheesy bread and the artichoke dip. My friend and I split the Pablo Picasso salad and the pasta with the chicken and southwestern type of sauce. What can I say? It's Oreganos!! This is a family fav and one of our go-to's if we are stuck on where to eat. We've recently tried the deep dish for the first time (a crime, I know) and oh BOY!! It was perfectly done, INCREDIBLY filling, and I like that you can choose what you want to put inside. There's regular deep dish and stuffed, and you know we had to go for the stuffed version. There was also a seasonal option for pasta called the "Hakuna Piccata" which surprised us!! It was lemony, cheesy, but nicely balanced. The chicken had a perfect breaded crust on it but was still juicy. ALSO, never had the Boom dip before either and all I have to say is BOOM BABY! Would give 0 stars if I could. We called ahead for a big party. The hostess said we would be seated at 5:15/5:30 all together. I was grateful. Received a confirmation to my phone. Yelp confirmed the correct location. My party of 9 got there and the current hostess said she had never heard of us. She had just gotten on shift and no one wrote down our reservation. She then said I called the wrong location, I showed her proof I did not and she said she didn't even know the correct phone number. She then said it would be a 45 minute wait. We waited, then she said she could not seat us all at one table til 8 pm. It was 5:45 almost 6 at this point. We tried to get another reservation at another restaurant, but everywhere was booked with us calling at 6 pm that night. We had family from out of town and had to sit at two separate tables. Eating family style, separately. Ridiculous. The manager was apathetic. Said our reservation didn't happen. Never apologized. Said we couldn't sit outside due to a server calling out sick. We asked to order takeout and sit outside and said that would be, 'incredibly unorthodox' and refused. Never came by our table. Never offered an apology for the mix up. Not even a dessert. Never had a bad experience here before but today was the day , called at 1:37pm asked for a pick up order , they said it would be ready in 20 minutes, got there and My food wasn't ready had to talk to 3 different people and still didn't receive my food till 3:00 , they did not apologize. This place is one of my absolute favorite guilty pleasures. I love the pizza and used to order it every time, until I discovered their Big Rig pasta. WOW. Prob my favorite dish in the entire world. Also love their super garlic-y calamari. Pablo Picasso Salad. I HIGHLY recommend it! Pablo Picasso has just the right amount of chicken, spice and sauce. It's amazing! Although the salad is my fav the pizza, pasta, wings and dessert are all delicious! Almost all entree's are shareable. Oreganos has been the first on my list for Italian delicious foodI have been going for years now. I usually go for the Scottsdale or Tempe location but today I decided to try the camelback location. It's unfortunate that I had a horrible experience. We get seated at the bar which is fine but the waitress was really rude. I would ask a question and she would repeat it in a mocking tone. Not only is the menu creative and the food very good, but this well-known Phoenix establishment has employed many fine servers over the years. One of the best at this location, and one of their long-time servers, is Senya. Senya is one of the hardest working and most knowledgeable servers I have ever known, and she has an excellent understanding of both the food and the drink menus at this Oregano's. She is very friendly and kind, and interacts so well with the customers. She really works hard and is always working to make the dining experience for customers as good as it can be. Waiting an hour for Oregano's used to be worth it, but now that isn't the case anymore. A small fraction of the reason behind it is the service but more so it is the quality of the food. The wait: We had to wait an hour for a table of 2 on a Saturday night which is par for the course for a restaurant like Oregano's. I think the wait was exacerbated by the fact that there was no outdoor seating due to the heat. The hostess wasn't even outside because of it which is understandable. However, there were no accommodations for those who waiting in the 100+ degree heat. There were no misters, fans, or anything to help stay cool. I've been to this location many a time and remembered someone coming out with a pizza as a sampling for people waiting. I think at the very least there could have been someone peeking out periodically to hand out waters or something. It wasn't a fun experience. The Staff: The hostess was great, no problems with her. Our waiter was also very nice but inattentive to our table. Things we asked for were often forgotten. I saw our order of fries and wings and sides of sauce waiting at the kitchen as I passed by them to go to the restroom. We continued to wait for them until another worker (I think the manager as she seemed to be helping out and delegating) dropped them off. The fries were slightly cold but the wings stayed warm. It seemed like we had to wait long stretches of time before our waiter would say anything to us. I don't want to undermine the fact however that he was very nice to us but never apologized for leaving us waiting. The waiting got so bad to a point where we had to ask someone else for some boxes and the check. I know that restaurants are struggling with the great resignation and a lot of people are pulling double duty, so I don't blame our waiter entirely however it did seem he was more attentive to other tables One thing that is NOT OKAY was one of the cooks who was plating out the food would be on his phone between getting food out and not once put gloves on or washed his hands after handling his phone. Cell Phones are one of the dirtiest things we handle on a day to day basis and it is unsanitary for someone handling food to also be handling their phone at the same time and not wash their hands or put on gloves. The food: We ordered the wings and fries, the big rig pasta with sausage, and the bistro pizza with pepperonis. The wings were the best part of the meal. Despite hanging out for a long period of time and the fries being somewhat cold, the wings stayed warm and were delicious albeit different from the classic oregano wings I fell in love with so long ago. The Big Rig pasta was dramatically under seasoned we constantly were having to salt every bite. The pizza was both undercooked but tasted burnt at the same time. We suspected that the ovens weren't cleaned in between pizzas and the corn meal used to keep the pizzas from sticking was just getting more and more burnt and sticking to the new pizzas that were being cooked. The moisture from the raw tomatoes on the pizza also caused the dough to be soggy. It just wasn't a pleasant dining experience. We got boxes so we can have leftovers as it was not a cheap meal. Overall I don't think we will be going back to Oreganos any time soon. The two reasons being the quality of the food and the cook on his phone. It's such a shame because this was one of our favorite spots but the quality has gone so downhill. read more

They have an awesome lunch menu (on the back) and even serve a lunch size pan pizza, all items at a very affordable cost. I had the stuffed rigatoni which came with garlic bread and I added on two meatballs. I was very impressed. The food was absolutely delicious. We have ten people here for dinner tonight and we ordered five pizzas for our guests. Now, two of our guests took their horses home and were going to go and pick up the pizzas an hour later!! Guess what?!?! They get to Oregano's and the folks at the counter said it was going to be another hour !!!! WHAT!!!???!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! The reason why I am writing this review is because I have always loved Oreganos but this is it!! No more!! Three nights ago we ordered a pizza and it took over three hours to get it!!! You have had our business but you tell us that we should expect to this because they are busy. I am writing to tell you of the frustration ordering last night at your Camelback location in Phoenix. We did an online order for a salad, and it said it would be ready at 6:45. When we got there, it was not ready. It was jam-packed with people, and it seemed quite chaotic. It still was not ready for an additional 30 minutes until 7:15!  A lot of other customers were also impatiently waiting for their pickup orders too, to make matters worse, many people did not wear masks in a very crowded, enclosed, dense area, we felt very uncomfortable in there, and couldn't wait to get out of there. CDC guidelines & recommendations are now saying that in an enclosed, crowded space, masks now should be worn again, it was very surprising to see most of your workers not wearing masks, as well as most customers. I guess we'll just continue to see new Covid cases skyrocket.  :( Also, the salad seemed to be on the small side, I assumed we were going to get the larger size salad, so that was another disappointment. We also paid an extra $3.99 for sliced chicken, and it was more like diced up, shredded chicken, and there wasn't really that much of it, so that felt like a rip-off to us. read more

It's been a year since my move here and have gone without trying Oregano's despite the frequent mentions of this bistro. Came here for the first time and got recommendations from Yelp, since they serve a variety of salads, pizza and pastas. I decided to go with the Stuffed Riga Tony and a Passionfruit Tea. The pasta was penne stuffed with cheese and covered with a meat sauce. Definitely filling and held about 2-3 portions in itself. The Passionfruit Tea was refreshing and comes unsweetened. Tried the Zainy Ziti and the Lady is a Scampi from others in my party and they tasted similar in taste, but differed in spice. Service was great. Pasta is typical of Olive Garden, Maggiano's or the like. Food isn't mind-blowing good, just great in terms of price for proportion. Perhaps the pizza is better?
