While briefly in Phoenix, I was searching for delivery...of salad, and Barro's came up in my results. A lot of pizza place salads are crap, but this one was great: Spinach with green apples, walnuts, dried cranberries, diced red onion, and feta cheese (i switched that out for grated parmesan because I am lactose intolerant) and a great balsamic dressing. I added chicken too...and had to get a pizza because...pizza! I looooved this pizza! I got the thick crust so it was nice and doughy- not for pizza purists probably- with heaps of cheese and pineapple. It arrived fast and hot and I ended up gorging on it and eating the salad for lunch the next day, whoops! I wish I lived nearby so I could order this all.the.dang.time! (Pizza AND salad) super reasonably priced, too, especially considering I got four meals out of it. read more

This is our favorite location. It's an older building on central, with high ceilings and lots of booths and darker. Beer on draft, lots of TV's with various sports on. Their Pizza is always delicious and exactly how we order it. Always Well done for us and Thin Crust!! Tonight the young lady who took our order was fantastic. So personable, helpful and just great. On our Receipt it says Mark M. took our order at 5:30. So not sure this is her name, I should have asked but thought it would be on the receipt. So hopefully she gets a shout out. Very good Pizza. Consistent from one location we typically visit in the East Valley all the way to this location in Central Phoenix. On this occasion I ordered four pizzas, taking advantage of one of their specials for two (2) large pizzas. The lady who took my order over the phone was polite and helped simplify the ordering process. Once order was complete she even finished the call with drive safe. A tip I'd like to offer regarding pizza here, thin crust is also an option. Lunch deals are a great option they also have available. A couple slices and a soda is just one of their lunch special deals. Their lunch crowd picks up fairly quick but they get orders out so quickly that the line disappears almost as quickly as it happens. Didn't see much of the interior since I came for a pick up order, but I will tell you they have patio seating in addition to booths and tables inside. And as they said, our pizza is being brought to the counter +/- a minute from the time I was told when I placed the order. We got the pizzas to our destination and got rave reviews for picking up and delivering HOT pizza. We haven't been to Barro's Pizza for several years, but we used to enjoy their pizza when we lived in Mesa. We gathered with several families on Sunday of Memorial Day weekend (about 18 people including kids!) at the midtown location on Central, south of Thomas Rd. We called a day early to let them know that our large group would be coming, and they said it wouldn't be a problem. They took great care of us! We had three tables, a play area for the younger kids, and lots of flat screens with kid-friendly movies playing. The food came quickly and was piping hot! The pizzas were real "lookers" if you know what I mean! They were generously topped and sauced, and the crust was perfect-crispy outside and perfectly chewy inside. I visited Barros on a Sunday night around 9pm. As you walk in you order your pizza at the front and then you find yourself a seat, I ordered a 10in mega meat with jalapeños. It took about 15 minutes for my pizza to arrive. I'd say the pizza was good, not great, not bad either. Plenty of toppings and the crust was good. My only complaint would be the sauce wasn't all that favorable. I finished the whole pizza and headed out. The staff was friendly and there are plenty of tv's to watch while you wait for your pizza. read more

I always get the pizza with the dairyfree cheese and pineapple. Family loves the pasta and the meat pizza. The sauce! My 1st experience with Barro's was in the mid 80's, and I will continue to go here when I need a red sauce fix, and my husband needs a day off from cooking. Insert clown emoji here. My most recent pick up pizza from the Central location did not disappoint. I went for a mushroom pepp, extra sauce. It was a sweat pants Netflix binge night, and the pizza was so delicious that there was no "why didn't you stop me!" next day remorse. We all know that the food scene everywhere has really stepped up their game, and arguments about thin crust, Chicago vs New York.... Blablabla! I love their thick dough, and the ever so slight spicey heat of the sauce. This would not be a date night place. I would not come here expecting fancy cocktails. Their are big tv's & decent sized booths. You order at a counter, get it delivered, or pick it up. Prices are reasonable & I have always had good customer service. This is the pizza "joint" that my kids grew up with in AZ. No frills, decent prices, and great pizza. I don't go here expecting a certain regional Italian experience. Not to say it is or isn't but I do not care. I go here for an indulgent delicious pizza! Having said that, I will occasionally order pineapple on my pizza, but you will never see me at a California Pizza Kitchen. Personally, for us, delivery pizza is never ok. Unless you live in the parking lot , you loose so much warm gooey goodness . This is not a Barro's issue. I've been eating at Barros for 20 years and this is the worst experience I've had so far. This location is the only location that cannot accommodate a simple request of just brushing garlic oil on the crust. Every other location I've been to gladly does this. Some will charge me for the oil some don't. I don't mind paying extra for it. This is the first time I've been flat out refused so I figured I would make a note of it. The pizza was done with no care at all. The dough was severely undercooked and came out with bad flavor. It was cut sloppily and I had to recut it back home because the slices would not separate. Toppings were just thrown on top and not evenly a half and half so I had to rearrange the pepperoni and cheese at home. (My girlfriend is Muslim and does not eat pork hence why I order half cheese half pepperoni) The cheese was all piled up on one side of the pizza. Overall it showed a lack of attention or care from the staff. I would rather drive an extra 10 minutes and go to the next Barros before coming back here again. Horrible service and food. read more

I have to state that the customer service here tops the other location I've been to at 24th/Baseline...no shade though. For Carry Out orders, customers are treated to dedicated parking spaces up front, adjacent to the huge parking lot next to the restaurant. I placed an online order for a 2 topping medium pizza. I got there and had to wait a few minutes but I was early and was planning on the wait. The pizza was handed to me, which was hot but before I made my way out of the door I checked to make sure it was correct. Good call! - It wasn't I had ordered green olives, but instead got green peppers. I was refunded the purchase price after the on duty manager made the excuse for his cook that "he was probably in a hurry and read it wrong". Since I was not there when my pizza was put into the over I have no idea how busy the cook was, nor do I know the policy of Barro's for how busy and employee can be and given the leeway to make mistakes regarding the preparation of a customers order. I left the pizza on the counter and left. This would not be an issue at all if I believed it to be an isolated incident, which reading the reviews I found to be a recurring issue. It is more of an issue because I made the decision to visit this location after it made this same error 4 days earlier on Sunday, right after they opened, when I ordered in the restaurant and could tell there was very little business. Exact same error. I choose to eat at Barro's because it is on my way to work. I am in the process of finding another route. Never again. read more

Was given the wrong pizza and had to return to the store, no celery, and extra sauce was put on the wings instead of on the side. Ordered in advance on their website with an added tip. Barro's used to be my FAVORITE pizza place. I only found out about them 3 or 4 years ago. I always order delivery from the Central Ave location. The last 2 times I ordered was NOT a pleasant experience. Two times back the delivery was supposed to take 45 minutes. 1.5 hours later the driver finally showed up w/my cold pizza & he couldn't speak English. Every time I had called to see where the driver was all I'd get was "he should be there any second"! Plus, the pizza crust was not thin crust. I let a couple of months go by & decided to try again. This time was a little better. The driver was one time & very pleasant. But, I've noticed lately that even when I order THIN crust I end up getting a pizza w/a more "pan" style pizza crust (see pic, & this was after the pieces had been crammed into a zip lock bag & refrigerated overnight. The other pic shows that I did order thin crust. I don't know why they "all of a sudden" forgot how to make thin crust. Maybe I should order a thick crust & maybe get the thin crust I wanted. I have been going to Barro's for at least 20 years and they have always been my favorite no matter location and I really like they donate for good causes as well. However, lately I have been disappointed. I have been ordering from Door Dash only because of tracking and it's more convenient. The past 3 times have had no celery with the wings and the order is always short by one wing. The salad can be customized if ordering direct but not on Door Dash and some menu items aren't on the Door Dash menu. While their food is always tasty and top notch, I think it is time to look elsewhere. read more

AMAZING! Typically I haven't been terribly impressed with Barros in the past but this new spot that opened by my work gets it right on when it comes to quick and delicious lunch. Walked right up to the register and had many lunch specially too choose from. Made my choice of pizza and salad and was given my hot and fresh pizza with cold and crunchy salad almost instantly. They have many fresh iced teas to pick from too. Huge dining room with high copper ceilings and a perfect view of the hustle and bustle of Central Ave. TVs all over the place and even a a play corner for kids. Extremely excellent value. I've been here a couple of times and their pizza is pretty good. Although they go heavy on the sauces for most of their pizzas so expect a messy eating experience. I'm not a fan of some of their other offerings. The sandwiches are just ok, $10 for a footlong and its pretty basic deli meat with some veggies. At least you get a bag of Lay's chips with it. The boneless wings were large nuggets and I asked for the lemon pepper dry rub but all the rub was in a greasy pile in the box. I ended up scooping the rub into the blue cheese dressing cups and dipped the chicken. The celery sticks were really dried out and stringy. I'll be back if I'm in the area again but I'll stick to the pizza. read more

So stoked to finally have a Barro's in central Phoenix. Their other locations were too spread out! Here's what separates them from the competition: Great, real mozzarella, a thick, dense crust that's got a lot more heft to it than NY style pies, and an outstanding variety of specialty pizzas. The lunch combos are amazing as well, if you've got time to dine in! Overall, there are now so many places to get pizza (or flatbread) around Central & Osborne. Worst experience. We ordered our pizza at 7 pm with a 90 minute delivery estimate. I understand things have been strange since covid. After two hours of waiting we called and were told that the driver had just left with our order. We called again after two and a half hours. The girl who answered the phone couldn't care less. We got our pizza COLD. Chicken wings COLD. The wrong soda. And our order looked like it had been dropped on the floor. Worse part everytime I called I was blown off. Do t order delivery of you go here. My mistake for adding a tip when I paid for the order ahead of time.
