291. VEGAN PEE WEE

The most amazing vegan sandwiches ever!! Such a great spot + a no brainer for a quick yummy meal.

The downside was, I had to use the computer to order. I couldn't get the employees to break away from what they were doing so I wasn't able to make the sandwich how I wanted. When you don't have a real person taking your order, you're at the mercy of the auctions you can find on the computer screen. I only wanted a turkey but had to settle for a salsa or something like that because it was the closest thing to what I wanted also was unable to substitute for regular mayonnaise because I was using the computer screen instead of a person. besides this one issue of not being able to order with a person, everything was good. It took about 15 minutes from when I walked in until I got my food. The place was pretty clean. Parking was very difficult to find. I had to park a couple blocks away at a meter pay for it then walk over. It wasn't a big deal. I would recommend this place if you are downtown.

This place isn't as good as I remembered. Had it in San Diego and the dutch crunch was to die for! The sandwiches at this location is decent but the dutch crunch bread felt over baked and super dry. I got the thanksgiving one, tasted good. Also got the meatballs one, great. Service was very slow, unsure why it takes over 10 mins to make sandwiches with no other customers. Though it was a disappointment, would get this over subway and potbelly any day! Spacious place with nice servers!

Such a unique sandwich menu Ike's was founded in San Francisco in 2007 and now has 12 locations here in AZ. The sandwich menu is extensive with so many options that you're sure to find a new favorite for anyone. Their famous Dutch Crunch bread paired with the Dirty Sauce is a flavorburst combo. (The Dirty Sauce is a garlic aioli with a secret blend of seasonings and spices. Vegan Dirty Sauce is also available). "Every location comes with exclusive sandwich offerings that are eclectically named as a tribute to local celebrities and icons. Ike's Love & Sandwiches features sandwiches for all: meat lovers, vegetarian, vegan, halal, and gluten-free." Desert Ridge is my closest location (located near Pita Jungle and Sushi on Tatum). My favorite sandwich is the MILF which is: halal chicken, stuffed jalapeno poppers, buffalo wing sauce, and ranch. I love the Dutch Crunch bread, but there are other options: sourdough, french, whole wheat, and gluten free. An added bonus is a blow pop or Carmel apple pop with each sandwich. A vegan friend introduced me to Ike's and now I find myself craving it. I don't like to go to the same place too often, as I want to try new things all of the time, but I've lost count of how many times I've eaten at Ike's in the last 4 months!

Meatball Marinara (vegan option) on whole wheat
Matt B.

Casual sandwich place serving up massive subs, with tons of vegetarian and clearly marked vegan options. I got their Meatless Marinara ($13.50 plus tax), and ordered it on whole wheat (there's a choice of several breads). It was ready within 5 minutes. The sub was very large, with plenty of delicious plant-based meatballs, iceberg lettuce shreds, tomato, and vegan cheese. The marinara sauce seemed to be a bit lacking but was tasty. Definitely a solid vegan sub.

14 Chipper s Fave

Got the chippers fave - tuna salad with avocado. Switched out the American cheese for provolone. Tasty sandwich with tasty Dutch crunch bread. Came out in about 5-10 minutes from ordering during lunch hour. With tax, a filling sub came out to ~$14 with a free lollipop. Damn, Covid and inflation is affecting affordable lunch prices. I'd rather opt out of the lollipop and be charged less.

Sourdough, dirty sauce, Turkey, provolone, avocado, banana peppers, and buffalo sauce.

The sandwiches here were phenomenal! Bread is fresh and soft. The temp was perfect. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Love their mission statement love above all else!! Highly recommend Ike''s!!

I didn't have a sandwich but the pizza was sub-par. Crust was like shoe leather and way too salty!! Way over priced for what was served!!

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Cheba Hut is a cannabis-themed sub shop eatery, and parking ended up being manageable. The place was very busy when I arrived, so I grabbed a seat at the bar. The bartender was clearly juggling a lot but stayed friendly and personable. The place was super clean, and I immediately loved the laid-back neighborhood vibe near Roosevelt Row. I ordered the French dip sub along with a munchie- pretzel nugs. Cheba offers three sandwich sizes (Nug, Pinner, and Blunt), which makes ordering easy depending on your appetite. Everything came out fresh and flavorful, and the pretzel mugs were especially good, soft and salty, Parking here is a little more limited than some other locations, but overall I really enjoyed my first visit and was happy to learn there are multiple Cheba Hut locations around town. I'll definitely be back.

This was my second Cheba Hut experience and it will not be my last. When you find a special sandwich place you just can't keep yourself away. The ultimate test of time - I ordered their Italian. They give it their own twist and it delivers. Everyone working there is super friendly, and there is a ton of seating. Very cool casual sandwich spot.

Thank you unofficial yelpees for the later raid since I am so clueless lately. I needed this getaway from being a plain Jane. Even though I got the regular burger my life was so complete when they told me you could get these things as a salad too and I was late to the game so I had to go back and ask them to change it and they STILL gave it to me!!! And then they ended up giving me a sandwich with no charge because I guess they forgot and I had wanted to try the Kona bun so badly but I never got the chance to since they were out. Honestly that makes me sad but it gives me another reason to go back. Also...must get the Fresno sauce. Never going back to just hot hon or simple. I need both Fresno and the original on the regular. I need need need it. ‍‍‍ I honestly didn't have much room for the ube tres leches by the time I devoured the freebie burger bc I was so starved and also excited. My yelpies can attest that I sounded like I won the lottery when they called my name for the second order as well with my cake but honestly I had to eat the whole burger cus it's been so so long since I've had a burger and I had to recreate the Kate Hudson scene from How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. It was my one chance to unofficially stuff my face with confidence on my side. And I'm so glad I did. Thank you Stoop Kids ‍‍

Came here for lunch with a friend on a Saturday, had a good time! (Drinks in photo not from here)…read more I enjoyed my Cast Iron Egg dish, the shallot (or scallion) cream sauce was the secret winner, but I may want to try something new next time. My friend enjoyed the Pork Chili Verde dish. Portions are decent. We sat outside, which at noon in May is a bit warm, but we eventually moved to a shaded table and that was enjoyable. They have lots of fans and misters outside too. I also picked up a strawberry rhubarb and coconut rum cake for my parents. They loved the strawberry rhubarb, but they said the coconut rum cake was a bit strong on the rum (it tastes exactly like Malibu if you like that). Overall had a good time and would go back, staff was friendly despite it being busy.

A friend of mine suggested this spot for a mid-morning breakfast, and I hadn't been here in years…read moreso I agreed. I read that their parking lot fills up quickly but that there's a public lot across the street, so I parked there and crossed over. This cozy restaurant was fairly busy and we perused the pastry case while waiting in line, lots of tempting treats. My friend ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes which are topped with blueberries. A lot of their menu items have pork in it, but they were good about substituting. The burrito usually has schreiners chorizo, hash browns, cheddar, sunny egg and chili oil with side of salsa verde. I asked for avocado instead of the chorizo. We brought our own drinks so didn't order any. We grabbed a table on their patio since the sun wasn't over our heads yet. It's nice out there and I think they have some fans going to keep the air flowing, and there was also a natural breeze. Our food came out and they were plated beautifully. My burrito looked good, but it had too much hashbrowns and also there wasn't any chili oil, which was a bummer. Maybe they normally put it on the chorizo so they forgot to add it to my avocado. The egg was runny which I like: The salsa verde was delicious; I love cilantro and it had great flavors. I tried the pancakes and they were fairly rich but I liked the tart lemon flavor and the blueberries, one of my favorite fruits. This is a nice place to meet up (small groups) and I'm glad I visited again.
