Love this place. Walked by here for years and finally went in last night. The staff is so nice and awesome. The energy and ambience of the place was so fun and relaxing. The pasta is INCREDIBLE! My wife and I set out to Brooklyn from Forrest Hills in hopes to have a nice Italian dinner at Patrizia's. Unfortunately, due to the holiday it was closed. We then turned to Yelp for some other ideas. We sat down at two Italian restaurants and couldn't find authentic Italian food only trendy restaurants that tried entirely too hard. We came across Oregano by chance. We had the muscles fra diablo Amazing! The sauce was spot on, not too spicy. As entrees, we both has the chicken parm with home make fettuccine. The best way to explain it is simple and fresh. Every thing was fresh and delicious. For desert we had a Nutella pizza. I cannot say enough how simple and fresh speaks to how good the food is here. We had our cousins 30th birthday party at Oregano pretty last minute with a party of 10 girls. The restaurant was more than willing and able to accommodate our large party. I spoke with the owner on the phone and he said he would "make it happen". Every single detail from our amazing server, Krista to the appetizers, the dinner and dessert was absolutely outstanding. I was blown away by the impeccable service provided by Krista and the rest of the staff. The food was incredibly fresh- we had not one complaint. We have been to Oregano four or five times now. We live in Richmond, and every time we have been to NYC we have made a point to eat at Oregano since first discovering it. It has been an outstanding experience every time. We have had Rena for our server three times now, and she has a knack for excellent and hospitable service. The food is excellent, and the stellar service completes the experience. Today we took a 30 minute cab ride from Park Slope to Williamsburg to eat at Oregano before heading back home. We had 3 large suitcases in tow, and Rena made us feel like it was no imposition. We have eaten at many NYC restaurants-what many places seem to be missing is that the food does not stand on its own. Great food, in the face of rude or apathetic hosts and/or servers is not good enough. The most talented chef's efforts are overshadowed with poor and lacking service. As an aside, Oregano now serves beer and wine, but you can still bring your own if you wish. Cheers! read more

Came on a Friday night was moderately busy, hostess told us three times it will just be a couple mins, we ended up waiting 30+ mins and there were larger empty tables the whole time we waited. Food was just ok, not sure what all the rave reviews are about, for Brooklyn Italian joints it's pretty average and coupled with poor service Ill take a pass next time I'm in the hood. We had the caprese salad to start which was good, fresh cheese, thick cut tomatoes, but very little Basel. Next we had the eggplant and zucchini pizza which was not good, veggies weren't cooked and had no flavor whatsoever. Last we had the black lobster pasta which was more cream sauce than any real stuff and again was quite bland and overcooked . The waitress came by twice to take the order and drop the check. This place is excellent! Came here with a friend this past weekend as a plan B because our first choice turned out to be a dud, and thank goodness we did. The food here is absolutely stellar. There are tons of delicious choices on the menu including GF pasta options (they still boil the pasta in the same water as the non-GF pasta, just FYI). All the pasta is handmade and super fresh. I ordered the spaghetti burrata and it was incredible. My only critique is that I wish the portion was slightly bigger. The atmosphere is intimate and cozy but the energy was lively. Our server was wonderful, polite, and very informative. She was very patient and took the time to answer our many questions about the menu. Small, cozy atmosphere. Food is great. I had the oregano salad, the orange vinaigrette dressing was extremely good and light . The Pastirma pizza is awesome, I love the combination of ingredients (especially the sweet pickle). The linguini with shrimp in alfredo sauce is great, the sauce is made just right. Not heavy at all. Loved it! We tried both desserts, both equally good also. Hats off to the chef & owner. For now it's BYOB, there is a wine store right across the street - there is a minimal corkage fee. Not bad. We went because one of our group has a gluten intolerance and they serve gluten free pizza. They don't notify you anywhere on the menu or in person but it's an extra $2 fee per pizza. The toppings on the pizza were great but the crust was terrible (think stale cracker) and the portions were incredibly small for a $22 pizza. We ordered two pizzas for 3 people and were still very hungry. The service however didn't help. We had to ask for olives, which they only brought after we had asked twice, and they never brought any bread. The waitress was able to offer no advice other than "our specials are on the board" and we were practically pushed out the door once we had finished the meal. I understand that restaurants like this depend on turnover but being it's also nice to not feel rushed when you're overpaying for a meal. read more

This Italian restaurant is a hidden gem in Williamsburg! The food is amazing everything tastes authentic freshly made (and it is, I asked the server). It's a small quaint restaurant with back patio seating which is a huge plus so you're not out on the street with all the noise and foot traffic, but still enjoy being outside, which is dazzled with nice candle lighting. The ambiance of the place is an intimate setting great for dates or just a casual dinner with friends for great food. The best part is it's an open kitchen with a brick oven so you can see chefs preparing the food. We ordered the burrata, beet ravioli which was out of this world and the cheese truffle pizza which is brick oven made. Raz was our server, he was super knowledgeable about all the food and wine, gave us great suggestions on what to pair, he really complete our night. I will NEVER go back to this place. I don't ever write reviews, but was SO appalled by what just happened, I couldn't not write about it.. Have eaten here before and the food is fine. Tonight I went back with friends, one of whom was feeling ill after we ordered. 20 minutes after placing our order, we asked that her/her husband's portion of the order be packed up so they go home and take it with them. Another 25 minutes later, this still had not happened, despite being assure by the nice waitress/hostess (who was doing the best she could with the amount of patrons she was trying to help) and the chef TONY that their food would be ready/packed momentarily. 40 or so minutes after we sat, my friends decided to end the wait and go home. Shortly after, I made eye contact with TONY, who indicated I should come up and get the "to-go" order. I, in return, indicated that it was too late (as we were told this order was going to be ready 20 minutes prior)... The check was brought and the waitress kindly removed the "to-go" orders without any hesitation. 2 minutes later then chef TONY rages over to my table and SCREAMS at me in front of the entire restaurant that, telling me I should "stop playing games and ordering food I won't pay for and do myself a favor and never come back to this place". Sure, TONY, no problem. I will never be back to that pace, Got the manager's number and fully intend on chatting with him about Tony's totally UNPROFESSIONAL and UNREAL behavior/reaction to something his waitress OFFERED to do. 5 of us went for dinner tonight and when we got there at 6 we were told that they needed our table at 6:45 so we sat down. It took forever for them to take our order. House salad and Caprese we're very good. I had Squid ink fettuccine fra diavalo that I asked for spicy which was pretty bland. A pasta with clams in a "garlic" sauce was as well. The cavatelli w sausage and broccoli rab was good as was the scallop special but our dishes took forever to come as did the check. Also, we sat in the back and the outside door was repeatedly opened and we froze. With all of the restaurant choices in the area we will go elsewhere next time. read more

Nice restaurant with nice decor. Made me feel like I was back in Italy with a modern twist. The spot is a little small so if you're coming here on a weekend night a reservation might be good. They have a solid menu with a variety of choices. We were in the mood for pizza and that's what we ended up ordering. We had two, the four cheese with added sausage, and the one with figs and prosciutto. The pizzas were unique however the four cheese pizza had goat cheese which was too strong and overpowering. It really made it hard to eat and enjoy the pizza. The fig and prosciutto pizza was amazing! Had a great flavor mix with the sweetest of the figs alongside the cheese and prosciutto. My biggest gripe with the pizza and the reason for the 3 stars is because the pizza kept falling apart. The toppings slid off both pizzas and it was just annoying. The prosciutto was put on top of the pizza and it was too tough to bite through without having the whole piece come off the pizza. You had to hold on to the toppings which made eating difficult. Wouldn't come back for the pizza but definitely to try out other dishes. read more

Craziest non-dining experience ever! We were not allowed to eat any of the food we ordered and paid for that never fully arrived. The Oregano Owner/Manager/Server (OMS) seems to be a student of the Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un school of issue resolution. Our party of 8 arrived as the dinner rush was slowing down. The kitchen was busy and backed up handling table and delivery orders. After we sat down, several other large parties entered. The OMS seemed to be handling all the table orders. We placed our orders and waited a very long time for food. Our party was frustrated with the long wait and told the OMS. When understaffed, overwhelmed, and facing customer criticism due to long delayed food, you can either handle the issue or lash out in the most inappropriate way and escalate to nuclear level conflict culminating in the police being called. OMS took the latter. The OMS said we can criticize her but we can't disrespect her staff and exploded! To be clear, we were never disrespectful or rude to the table runners and staff. I have been to thousands of restaurants and have never experienced such surreal inappropriate customer service from a restaurant. After demanding our party leave the restaurant, we challenged why we should pay if we are not allowed to eat our impending meals. The OMS took our friends mobile phone as collateral to demand payment. After we left the premises, the verbal altercation further escalated. Two of the kitchen staff even joined in and assaulted a member of our party (which probably led to more delays in other patrons getting their food). The police arrived and the resolution was our party never go to Oregano (not an issue on our part) and we begrudgingly paid the bill. I don't understand how a business that treats customers in such a horrific way can survive. read more

What looks to be a hole in the wall turns out to be a fine little restaurant and a celebration of creative and delicious Italian food in the heart of Williamsburg's walking district. The mushroom ravioli was excellent, the spinach salad was perfect. My son's pizza was excellent. There is no alcohol or wine list, but across the street is a very nice wine store, so most diners dash across the street, buy a bottle and return. Oregano's staff will open and pour. This is a very, very good place for dinner, the waitstaff is very accommodating and lovely. read more

Our waitress was beyond nice and welcoming and the entire staff works as a great team. It's a cozy little typical Williamsburg venue with banging food. I had the lasagna which was awesome, my girlfriend had the chicken masala which was also great. Prices are great and they have specials which is presented on a large chalkboard.
