My husband and I stopped at Montesacro while staying with a friend in Brooklyn, NY. We were looking for a romantic Italian restaurant to grab dinner before meeting our friends for drinks. Montesacro was just the place! The interior was cozy and inviting, and we sat in the back room which sort of resembles a green house with many windows and greenery. We told our waiter we were in a bit of a time crunch to meet our drink reservation, and he was thoroughly attentive. He placed our order quickly and the foot arrived within 10 minutes. The quality of the pinsa was delicious - the crisp texture of the guanciale and the sweetness of the honey were amazing together. The bolognese pasta was also delicious (if you can't tell from the photo - there's barely any left). Should we visit this part of Brooklyn again, we'd be happy to dine with Montesacro another time!
We visited on a Wednesday night, and agreed it was a charming spot. The space is surprisingly roomy for Brooklyn, and the garden area was especially lovely. The rain lightly hitting the clear roof added the perfect cozy ambiance. Food-wise, I really enjoyed the salad. The freshly cracked pepper on top was noticeably flavorful, though I'm personally not a huge fan of having to cut the lettuce myself. The true standout, though, was the Cacio e Pepe. Buttery, rich, perfectly peppery, genuinely a showstopper. I'd go back for that dish alone. The only downside was the service and organization. A few minutes after being sat down, we were asked if we needed more than an hour because a birthday party would be taking the table later. This felt strange and unnecessary, especially given how much open seating the rest of the restaurant had, I don't know why we were sat in the section to begin with. Throughout the meal, the service wasn't very attentive, and the subtle rushing took away from what could've been a really relaxed dinner. The menu is a little overwhelming, but delicious food and a lovely space. I wish the service matched the rest of the experience, but it seems to be a great place to throw a birthday party.
Really cute vibes and staff! I picked this one off of Yelp and reading reviews and my craving for pasta. I was not disappoint! Pictures always help me out and I really appreciate seeing what the menu had to offer and I asked the staff member what was good. I was craving a good protein and got the grilled octopus to start and then the cacio e pepe. The octopus was grilled and came over top this chickpea and celery (thinly sliced) olive (thinly sliced) salad. I thought I hated chickpeas but love love love them now. It was a simple and and mild in flavor but the octopus cut like butter. It was larger than I thought but for the price its a good portion. The cacio e pepe was creamy salty and everything I was craving that I had to eat it all (NO LEFTOVERS THIS TIME). Its a cute spot to go for a date and I wish I had seen the garden area but so glad I stopped in!
We were in the mood for Italian and decided to stop by Montesacro to check it out. From the outside, it appears to be a small, cozy spot but once you step inside, there's a garden area off to the left with additional seating in the back. The ambiance is dimly lit, warm and inviting, it's perfect for a date night or a relaxed dinner with family. We started with the focaccia and burrata. The focaccia was crispy, light, and flavorful. For our mains, we ordered the cacio e pepe, the margherita pizza, and the bistecca (NY strip). Each dish was executed well and full of flavor. The cacio e pepe was perfectly balanced, the margherita was fresh and classic, and the bistecca was cooked just right. All three are definite must haves. Good service, price point is $25 to $35 on average.
We walked into this restaurant and there was a small receiving area but the area in the back is beautiful. There was no line but we waited for a few minutes for the host to come out.
My wife and I had a 6 pm reservation on a Saturday and were seated right away. The garden dining area is gorgeous and has a retractable roof which was open. All of the staff were friendly and attentive. We selected porchetta, coppa de testa, and carciofi for appetizers. The porchetta and coppa de testa were the personification of porky goodness! That said, the carciofi stole the show! Perfectly tender and served with mint pesto and paper thin lemon slices, absolutely divine! My wife had the New York strip steak, served with an amazing layered potato side, and delicious greens. I had the pinsa from the specials menu. It featured ramps, fava beans, Calabrian chili, and lemon zest. Texture was awesome and the flavors were the essence of spring. Have to admit, the Calabrian chilis are hot enough to be addictive. My wife enjoyed the barolo wine by the glass. Truly a fantastic dinner!
Ambiance is lovely; the garden seating in the back is covered and had a great vibe. Our wine was chosen for us and both options were perfect for each of us. We had the squash to start; I loved the honey but my friend found it too sweet. We had the beef tartare as well which was absolutely delicious. For mains we shared the recommended pizza (also had honey) and the carbonara. The pizza crust is light, sweet and delicious. Definitely memorable. Service was very attentive at the beginning of the meal and less so towards the end. We barely touched the carbonara and it still ended up on the bill.
The ambiance, service, food basically everything was GREAT! I really like the lightning in the space. It felt so elegant and cozy at the same time! It was a nice dinner spot for a girl's night!
Great atmosphere. Montesacro is really conveniently located by the subway station. Walking in, there's plenty of seating inside but also a beautiful outside area that feels like you're dining and drinking in a garden. The menu is a good size , so there's plenty to order from without feeling too overwhelmed. What I love about Montesacro is the quality of the ingredients - the pasta is house made drawn durum-wheat and the pizza is proofed for 72 hours. We ordered a variety of dishes from the menu from steak to octopus to salad to pasta and pizza. The food came pretty quickly and everything was well seasoned. Some dishes are bigger than others but in general the portions are a good size. The atmosphere is great for any setting so I'll definitely be back to check it out again.
What a beautiful and stunning spot! The seating area in the garden is breathtaking and super cozy and romantic and all of the exposed brick is simply perfect. The food is incredible - I am still thinking about the burrata and cacio de pepe a week after being there. Ample drink choices to choose from and the staff were so friendly! I am already thinking about my next trip back to the area just so I can come back again :)
Seated for 4 at 7pm tonight reservation at the Garden. I nominate this establishment as one of the best Italian spots in Williamsburg. The garden is a perfect place for intimate dinner or if you plan for an anniversary with your special someone, this could be it. Food wise, everything is marvelous, not a single margin error. We ordered the Arthicoke app which we think taste wise, it's just okay, portion is tiny. We also ordered Fritto Miso which we found it quite delightful [fried wild shrimp, squid, broccoli rabe] comes with their homemade tartar condiment. Then we proceed to order their pinsa with honey [this is a must order, very tasty!!] perfect crust, texture, the thinly sliced meat paired well with the honey and cheese. We also ordered the Bistecca - quite chewy, the meat quality could be better, nonetheless... cooked to perfection temp wise [we ask for medium rare], and Spaghetti Nero [squid ink pasta with seafood], this is really good for what it is. I would love to try their wine but since Im driving, I skip it, maybe next time... definitely a return customer for sure!!
Pizza with broccoli rabe, spicy pork sausage, and burrata. Pannacotta with anise drizzle... The chicken!!!! Fabulous service! A great dining experience!!!
This is a great restaurant! If you get the avocado toast definitely add on the smoked salmon. It was delicious! I also had a margarita pizza that was well made and delicious. Ambience in the back or what they call the "garden" was really nice. Service was great.
Came here on a thursday at 6:30 PM with a reservation, but it wasn't super busy, so you could probably get by without one. There's an area in the front that was more of a typical restaurant atmosphere, but we sat in the covered garden room in the back, which was a really nice ambiance. We ordered one of their specials, a toast with arugula and beef carpaccio, as well as the squid ink pasta, which came out to be $60 total. The beef carpaccio on the toast was my favorite bite of the meal. The bread was also a good level of crisp, and I liked the flavor of the spread on top. The squid ink pasta had a good tomato and white wine flavor in the sauce, and I enjoyed the al denteness of the noodles. However, I did find the pasta to be a bit sandy, so I don't think the clams were fully cleaned. read more
This is a really cute date spot! The garden seating is beautiful with a glass ceiling even in the winter. It wasn't too cold either. The flatbread pizza was really good. The bread was soft and chewy! I would pass on the NY strip steak though, nothing special. I might try the ribeye next time. I did LOVE the bone marrow toast. That was probably my favorite bite of the night. I would also like to try the octopus next time. For dessert, I had the affogato with vanilla hazelnut ice cream and the panna cotta. The panna cotta was the star of the two dishes. I'm curious about the tiramisu too. Another reason to go back!! Overall, would recommend. read more

unbelievable experience. the overall experience from the guest service to the quality of the food was outstanding. We each got a pasta and split the pizza (pinsa) - for the pizza we got the Casal Bertone. It was phenomenal and we will be returning just for that! Perfect balance of salty with the kick of sweetness of honey. Pasta was flavorful, and ending the night with the affogato dessert. will be coming back! read more

Beautiful spot love the cozy romantic date night vibes!! Parking is a blessing if you get it but great on Sundays. Food is delicious, portions are not so great and pricing is fair. The pizza was the best tasted so good it's been so long since I had a good slice of pizza. The pasta was good but the portion was a bit small given the price you pay. Service was not so great, they were busy but sheesh me and my friend had to ask for complimentary bread 5 times (I low key counted it) and had to ask for refills for water few times as well without them doing it themselves but funny I had to raise my hand to get their attention because nobody cared to come attend my table beside just bringing the food we ordered!! I been lately so disappointed with a lot of places in regards to their service and this place was horrible for service as well. read more

Cozy and full of charm, Montesacro is the perfect spot to gather with friends or a date. Don't be fooled by the small space when you first walk in, the garden space in the back is just as charming and beautiful as the front. The staff was attentive, friendly and helpful. We got the lattuga romana, carbonara, branzino, tiramisu, and hazelnut gelato. For drinks, we got the portia, farmacista, and a cappuccino. Everything was delicious. Some favorite bites/moments: - The depth of flavors and textures from the crunchy khorabi, the nicely charred artichoke and the lentils paired beautifully with the grilled branzino. 10/10! Highly recommend! - Shoutout to our server for asking if we wanted bread to soak up the leftover sauce from our carbonara. My love language! - The bits of hazelnut in hazelnut gelato. Next time I definitely want to try the salted caramel gelato. - The tiramisu - because coffee! It was light, not too sweet and had great coffee flavor. If montesacro isn't already on your list it needs to be. It's a whole mood. And if nothing else, get the branzino and the tiramisu, you wont regret it! read more

Brooklyn has become our new favorite food spot! This place is simply delicious. We started off with two pinsas; infernetto and casal Bertone. The ingredients were fresh and a good size to share with 4 people. For a drink, I got the paloma and we shared two pasta dishes and a steak one. We had the carbonara, rigatoni and the bistecca. The only thing that bothered me is that they wanted to charge us $5 a person to clean up after our "cupcake cheers" (each cupcake is $4) from magnolias so we finished my best friend's birthday dinner with a cappuccino. We might be back for more pinsa ... read more
The ambiance of Montesacro is great! I have walked past this restaurant so many times and I was surprised to find out how big the garden area is. We walked in on a Sunday late afternoon and the service was great. We got the mushroom ravioli and the panino. The pasta was well balanced and the mushrooms on the pasta went so well with the ravioli. The panino was lemony and had a good crunch to it. I would definitely come back to try their pinsa! read more

Food - Delectable! Service - Exceptional! Decor - 100% my vibe! Beautifully dimmed lights with modern light fixtures and plants throughout the space give it a romantic feel. Ambiance - Quiet and intimate. Perfect for date night or catching up with a close friend. It wasn't loud, so you could actually have a proper conversation without having to raise your voice. From the moment I entered and warmly welcomed by the host, I was all smiles. Much love and gratitude to my friend who understood the assignment. Well done! Yes, I'd absolutely recommend it! read more
I had no idea that this place had a chain, but apparently, there are two locations in San Francisco. I'm surprised that there's only one in NYC. It's best if reservations are made as it can get filled up, especially during brunch times on the weekend. From the outside, it doesn't seem like it would be large. But there's a nice garden area in the back. It's really nice in that space and it's fully covered with glass walls and very airy. Came with 3 other people, so we decided to get an array of dishes such as the suppli, which has tomato and basil croquettes. It usually comes with three, but they gave us four. It was delicious. I totally recommend that one. We also decided on the Brioche French Toast, which was sweet and tasty, too. It has seasonal fruit compote, vanilla whipped ricotta, abs NY maple syrup. Another plate for the table was the Carciofi, which had baby artichokes and mint. That one was just alright. Nothing compared to the other two dishes. I shared a pasta and pizza dish. We ordered the Mezzaniche Alla Carbonara and the Infernetto. I enjoyed eating the pizza or, rather, pinsa as it is labeled on the menu. I ordered this light pink drink and tbh I forgot the name of it. The entire table sampled it, and all thought it tasted great. It is on the brunch menu just as a FYI. read more
A pinseria! I have never had a pinsa, and after trying this place, I still haven't. When we entered during lunch time, it was like a small cafe with a bar to the right. A guy came out and led us to the garden dining area past a walkway (where the bathrooms are). It was really cute, and I can imagine it being a romantic spot at night. I ordered from the lunch menu. My eating partner and I both got pastas because that's what we were craving. The waiter offered to us the lunch special by adding on an argula salad. It was maybe a + $3 difference in price. I said sure! The salad came out looking like it was a a parm dish on a bed of arugula. Simple and tasty. The carbonara was not the same as what we had in Roma, Italia, but it tasted good. They were able to give us tonnarelli instead of the medium cut pasta. The guanciale was so crispy. The paccheri was the better pasta of the two. The ratio of pasta to sauce was just right. The flavor was great. I might have preferred having a different type of noodle, but this was an interesting take on ragu. (We could see this restaurant from our room view over at Hotel Indigo across the street.) read more
Montesacro serves up some really good pizza in a cozy, vibey spot. It's perfect for date nights or an intimate dinner. Just know that the space is pretty tight, so expect to be close to your neighbors. The ambiance is super dark and moody, which adds to the charm, but it's definitely not the place for a big, loud group. Overall, great vibes and great pizza--would definitely recommend! read more

Nestled in the heart of Brooklyn, where romance meets gastronomy, Montesacro Pinseria beckons with its tantalizing blend of roman culinary tradition with a modern flair. From the moment you step into its enchanting outdoor oasis, cocooned to embrace a greenhouse vibe. You're transported to a world where every bite is a symphony of flavors with incredible service. As the first dish to grace our table was this delightful grilled asparagus side dish with a light dressing. We loved the freshness of it and the lightness of the dish itself. For our main dishes we had the Tonnarelli Cacio E Pepe, a masterful creation of simplicity and sophistication. The al dente strands of tonnarelli went perfectly with the velvety embrace of the Pecorino while the symphony of cracked black pepper adds a crescendo of flavor that leaves you yearning for more. Next dish was the Pollo Al Mattone, a culinary titan in its own right. The Amish half chicken , tender and succulent , bears the marks of a grill. Imparting a smoky allure that you'll just love. Paired with verdant embrace of broccoli rabe and zesty charm of a charred lemon. Each bite is a celebration of harmony and balance for a foodie! At the end of this amazing meal our palates are satiated and our hearts are full from a great experience. read more

The cutest Italian restaurant! came here for brunch with my mom and little sister on a Sunday and made reservations, which highly recommend doing so for either brunch or dinner. We booked for the dining room area which is in the indoor garden and it was so nice! The staff are very friendly and took care of us immediately. All of the cocktails and list of wines sounded amazing, but I decided to just stick with a mimosa. They don't have bottomless--but they still have a really great brunch selection. My mom ordered the avocado toast with smoked salmon, my sister ordered the montesacro burger and I had the pietralata pinsa (basically carbonara as a pizza). Everything tasted so delicious and fresh. My mom's avocado toast was honestly to die for and I'm not one to order avocado toast at places since it's an easy at-home recipe, but this one was so good that I would genuinely order it next time. The pietralata was good but if you're looking for a saucy pizza, I would recommend getting a different one, like the infernetto. Highly recommend coming here if you're spending the day in Williamsburg! read more
We came here for Memorial Day brunch around noon, looked like the place had just opened. We were immediately seated in the back as requested. The garden space is lovely, bright and the perfect venue for a dinner party. We waited several minutes before a server came over to speak to us or bring us water for that matter. Our server, Sam graciously took our order and was pleasant to converse with as well. I ordered a cappuccino, and my two friends got drinks ( wine and mojito respectively). For our mains we went with the oxtail ragu pasta, suppli (rice balls), and two Pinsas, one Margherita and one mushroom with buffalo mozzarella. Drinks came out fairly quickly. My coffee was strong but creamy and delicious. After about 15-20 mins the food arrived, piping hot. Oxtail ragu pasta- perfectly al dente, rich meaty sauce Suppli- delicious crunchy fried rice balls full of tomato basil sauce, Arborio rice and cheesy goodness 10/10 would order again for sure Pinsa Margherita- fresh tomato sauce and fresh mozzarella made for a light but dreamy slice, definitely get this. Pinsa mushroom- smoky buffalo mozzarella and sautéed mushrooms lend an earthy, salty note to this pizza which I enjoyed. Overall I would say cuisine ranks 4/5, the Pinsa dough has a great texture, light yet crunchy and a rice aftertaste. I felt full but not stuffed after brunch and thoroughly enjoyed my walk. This review is 3/5 because the service at this establishment could be much better. Hospitality and good customer service should be of importance to the staff as a whole. I hope that by my next visit that will be the case. read more
