This place is so good that we went twice in one weekend- once for date night and once with some family from out of town. First off the staff is very friendly and super attentiive and who doesn't love the fact they can bring a bottle of wine with only a $7 corking fee! We've tried a variety of menu items each time we have been here: Burrata: so so good Fig and Goat cheese pizza: delcious Black Fettuccini with lobster: the first time the lobster was overcooked due to the heat of the pasta, but the second time it was spot on Chicken parm: YUM Cavatelli: delicious Tiramisu: one of the best i've ever had. We haven't been back in about a month or so, but I am itching to go back for some great italian food with a side of lots of wine. read more

A great little spot in Williamsburg! I had the opportunity to visit with some people who were visiting NYC and wanted a bite to eat (preferably Italian) while we were in the area. We went in on a Saturday night and were seated immediately after walking in. Side note, the restaurant is fairly small. If you're really looking to come here for a specific reason I'd recommend making a reservation. The party that followed behind ours was told it would be a 20 minute wait, with which after they left. I ordered the Chicken Parm while the two other people I was with ordered spaghetti and meatballs and an Eggplant Parm dish. The Chicken Parm was really tasty, but I was semi-disappointed with the serving portion. When delivering the spaghetti and meatballs they forgot to include the meatballs. So my friend had to wait until they cooked and placed them onto the plate. As for the Eggplant Parm, I was told it lacked flavor and consistency. My friend wasn't able to finish the dish... Overall, Oregano seems to be a good spot if you know what the good dishes are. I'd recommend it for a date night (with some caution) if it's not a busy night and you also are sure the dishes you're getting have had some good reviews in the past. read more

This place is AMAZING! We went during the pandemic and they did a good job of social distancing and it wasn't crowded. If I could give this 7-stars I would. What was supposed to be a casual birthday dinner turned into an unexpectedly amazing night. Food-wise, the four of us started with the bruschetta and mushroom apps. Both really solid. I got the oregano pizza. As a huge za'atar fan, this might have been my favorite pizza toppings-wise I've ever had. The labneh is what really pulls it together. The pizza itself was very high quality. I was sitting next to a spaghetti carbonara aficionado. Its her litmus test at every Italian restaurant (and she's been to many). She said this was top-3 in the city. The four cheese gnocchi was out of this world. I only had a bite of the birthday boy's dish, but the gnocchi melted in my mouth and the cheeses were blended to perfection. Lastly, the chicken parm was supposedly excellent as well. We were all incredibly satisfied by our meals. At the table next to us were two women who had mouth-watering looking dishes as well. One of them was controlling the music in the restaurant. I'm not entirely sure how it happened, but she put on a song we requested, and we all started clapping and then dancing. Turns out she was the owner! She refilled our drinks, and brought out a birthday tiramisu with a HUGE sparkler. Just look at how happy the birthday boy is - the picture says it all! We ended up hanging out at the restaurant for several more hours. The owner, her friend and the staff were so much fun. Even a spilt glass of red wine and a ruined dress couldn't stop us. My face actually hurt from smiling and laughing so much. It was one of those magical hospitality moments that will stick with you for a long time. I'm certain you won't replicate our experience - and frankly, we couldn't either if we tried - but no matter what, this place is worth the visit. read more

Intimate and casual italian spot in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. We walked in around 8pm on a Friday with no issues getting a table, it did start to get crowded later on in the night. Wait staff was very nice and attentive. We tried the pizza with proscuitto and I got the special chicken sorrentino. The chicken was very tasty, the sauce was great with proscuitto and eggplant on the chicken. The pizza was maybe not the best I've ever had but still pretty good. They offered gluten free options as well if needed. Would recommend. Also the dessert menu looked pretty good, but we were stuffed. read more

My mother was in the mood for eggplant parm so we cancelled dinner reservations elsewhere to come here! Most places had prixe fixe for Mothers Day so we were glad to hear that wasn't the case at Oregano. We got there at 630 and snagged the last remaining open table. The place is pretty small but felt very homey. There is a small blackboard listing the specials -- we decided on the burrata with fig+speck and the portobello mushrooms from the menu. Both appetizers were a hit. The burrata was a nice portion. The salty speck with a bit of creamy burrata and sweetness from the fig offered a nice bite. The mushrooms were accompanied with sauteed spinach and gargonzola and absolutely delightful. So meaty and juicy. For entrees, we split the eggplant parm, lasagna and Squid Ink Frutti Di Mare. All of the entrees were fabulous! The lasagna was nicely layered and the sauce was so so good. The squid ink fettuccine was a perfect al dente with a ton of seafood. The eggplant parm was an oozy delicious mess in the best way. Comfort food overload! We finished our meal with some fabulous tiramisu and NY style cheesecake. Walking around Williamsburg say the happy hours sign outside and decided to give it a try. Would get sone wine and order a pizza. The waiter wasn't very welcoming and his face felt like beyond and obligation to be there. Ok, everyone have their days, even the "hospitality" workers. Ordered the happy hours white and a glass of the rosé. I was five minutes before happy hour ends. Also ordered a classic pizza. The glasses of wine have a very small pour, I mean small glass and small pour. While we were joking about the pour another couple arrived and ordered wine. This time their glasses were 3/4 full. I see, happy hour was 50% off, so pours were 50% the size... Pizza arrived 15 mins later. The border dough was nice in texture... the center of the pizza was saggy, wet and the tomato sauce was unseasoned, just taking of a can and put on the raw dough without even straining the excess of liquid before placing in the oven. I cannot say enough about our very positive dining experience at Oregano! Super nice and accommodating staff, great recommendations and our food was delicious. (The only reason I am not giving them a 5 star review is because the Chicken Marsala was sub par in my opinion.) We wanted to try several dishes so we ordered a pepperoni pizza and Cesar salad to share at our table for an appetizer and they were both delicious. My son had the cheese gnocchi which was excellent, I had the lasagna which was thick, meaty, cheesy and delicious and my husband had the chicken marsala which was a bit bland. If you want tiny portions, overpriced food, terrible service, and mediocre food, this is the place for you. I split a margherita with pepperoni and a spaghetti with meatballs with my friend. The portions are really small. I could have eaten both entrees myself and still have been only moderately satisfied. The food itself was okay. The pizza was fine, nothing to write home about. The spaghetti was also okay. The meatballs were slightly dry. The restaurant itself is normal NY size, but they put too many tables in the space for the size. We all had to squish close together even though the table was big enough to comfortably fit everyone because one of the seats was jammed right next to the table behind us, so we couldn't actually fit everyone in. read more

Not sure what happened to this place but its definitely not what it once was. The owner is a fantastic person but the cooks and staff... just no.. they are not cut for this. First they forget about our table and serve others who come after us. Don't clean our table until we finally mentioned it and mentioned to please give us water and the menus. Not going to speak on the wait time which was absurd but yeah our meal was under cooked and we asked to have it remade and when we get it back it was so distasteful not what it used to be at all. It is $10.00 and then I added grilled chicken for $6.00. When the food arrived I noticed the chicken was pink and under cooked. I set it aside because I don't want to get sick. Then a waitress came up to me to ask if I wanted the chicken to go back to the kitchen to be cooked more, she must have noticed the color too. To be honest, I don't feel comfortable returning food to the kitchen, I heard too many horror stories. So I ate the salad and let bygones be bygones. I asked for the check. They charged me $8.00 for the grilled chicken. They overcharged me for something I did not eat. That's not cool. I guess they knew from how unprofessional they were they assumed I would not tip them? I don't know what their motivation was but that's a form of robbery. I was going to tip but I saw that they overcharged me and decided not to tip. This past weekend I went to a little shop in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Gather round the wood-fire stove and let Guy tell you about it... All the pasta in this joint is handmade on the premises. On this particular day, the chef was Kraken' out some serious Squid-ink pasta. I rolled with the Squid Ink Frutti di Mare: Squid Ink fettuccine topped with sautéed shrimp, calamari, mussels, and clams in an iL Diavolo sauce. I wish I could wear the fettuccine as shoelaces, but then I'd have to eat my shoes and walk around Flavortown barefoot. The sauce could have been spicier - don't hold back the spice, Oregano! My pops ordered the Gnocchi Salmon: homemade gnocchi in a house vodka sauce with cubed salmon. I called it "Sleeping with the Fishes" cause that lucky little salmon was lying atop tons of pillowy-soft pieces of gnocchi! The gnocchi was soft and fresh, and the salmon didn't overwhelm the dish. Both mama dukes and my sister enjoyed their pasta dishes. I do wish the portions were a bit larger. I would have preferred a swimming pool of it. All in all, this is one restaurant that diners should totally dive into! read more

He told me the squid ink frutti so I ordered that and four cheese pizza with added on artichoke. The food was slightly below average. I didn't really like either of the dishes we ordered that much. We did not have a pleasant experience here. The outdoor dining set up feels like the tables are a little too crowded, and the wait staff is constantly pulling their masks down around their necks. We were given water and bread ASAP, which I appreciated because I was starving by this time. Oregano is quite cozy. From the lighting, to the walls displayed with wine bottles-which adds to the Italian feel and coziness. The food was tasty, although I thought my spaghetti bolognese could have used a bit less salt. Never ever go back to this place. So disappointed. First customer was terrible. The hostess did not smile, greet us, explain menu or specials. I had to ask! I asked for coffee and she brought it with my meal after I told her I was cold and wanted something hot. She brought the coffee and I had to ask for milk, sugar and the coffee was terrible. I could not drink it. After I got my meal I had to ask for cheese for my tasteless pasta. Added salt but there was only a little salt left. Omg I could not wait to pay the bill and leave.
