I had a pleasant experience at Ono Tea House (El Monte). I ordered the Honey Calamansi ($5.75 - Large - 32oz) with Crystal Boba (additional 75 cents). It's clean, fresh, and refreshing. As I sipped, I felt happy. I arrived at Ono Tea House (El Monte) on Tuesday (around 11:18AM). Parking felt cramped because the lot is a strip. These businesses share about 24 parking spots. Fortunately, I found a spot. Staff is very welcoming, friendly, and hardworking. Staff maintained a pleasant smile, and Staff happily answered my questions. My order took two minutes and 11 seconds. Good time! There's no self-service kiosk; customers must order at counter. However, I disliked how the full menu is not visible from the counter. Customers must walk away to find the hanging menu; customers must memorize their order; and customers need to walk back to the counter to say the order. The process felt inconvenient and intimidating, and a counter menu would have helped immensely. Also, during my visit, Staff mentioned "Drink's Size" and "Topping Preference," but Staff did not mention "Sweetness Level" and "Ice Level." I only realized these options could be modified after re-checking the full menu. As mentioned, I enjoyed the Honey Calamansi ($5.75 - Large - 32oz) with Crystal Boba (additional 75 cents). It's HUGE! The drink is sugary, lightly tart, and fresh. To my immense surprise, it's very thirst-quenching and tasty! Concerning the Crystal Boba, the texture resembled jellies. This topping had a soft sweetness, but they were not bouncy. Rather, the Crystal Boba had a soft, playful pop. All in all, the drink is delicious. Regarding ambiance, Ono Tea House (El Monte) is very comfortable. It's so clean that everything sparkled!! The floors, windows, and tables are well-maintained. I was very impressed with the potted plants because they had no dust; rather, they glowed a healthy, lush green. I also enjoyed the cheerful, upbeat Christmas music. This location does not have a restroom; there's two bottles of hand sanitizer for customers. Also, there's only one electrical outlet (the Christmas Tree uses this). In addition, the location only has four tables. Despite this, Ono Tea House (El Monte) feels well-maintained; it's very obvious that the owners care. I also appreciated how waves of locals kept entering to order. This hidden spot is still very popular! Overall, I had a pleasant experience at Ono Tea House (El Monte). El Monte doesn't have too many good boba spots, but Ono Tea House is a decent option. Prices here are a little lower than most places, which is nice. The tea itself is just okay -- not super strong -- and the drinks can lean on the sweeter side. I usually order mine with 1/4 sugar since I don't like them too sweet. Overall, it's not a spot I'd go out of my way for, but if you're in El Monte and really craving boba, it does the job. read more

Such a lovely establishment with nice plants that gave me good energy coming in. They have dairy free options! Even with that I still opted for an oolong tea, no sweetener or milks. The tea was really strong and had good flavor. I will come back to try some of the other drinks. A regular size looks like a gallon it's huge! I had a strawberry GT on my first visit which was solid. My recent visit was a strawberry smoothie with crystal boba, and I think that drink is a favorite. It's very creamy and refreshing! I happened to stumble on this spot when I was picking up banh mi for my brother and I for lunch and I'm so happy I did. It was easy to find and I did easily find parking too. They have a massive menu and plenty of milk options too. I was craving a Thai milk tea with boba and that's what I ordered. The girl was very courteous and asked if milk was okay for the drink. I told her it was fine and she placed my order. It took maybe a few minutes at most and I was able to check out the extensive drink menu. When I took my first sip, I was so ecstatic. Lately I been wanting to try new tea places and came across this place since I was passing by on Garvey. Employees wore masks and there were plastic clear shields at the counters for cashier and pickup which was good to protect customers and employees especially during pandemic. Not a lot of tea places nowadays serve almond milk tea but I'm surprised this place does and surprisingly it satisfied my almond milk tea craving! They have regular size and large size cups, and even a regular size is good enough for me. I got a regular size almond milk tea ($4.50) + added crystal boba topping ($0.75) = $5.25 total for the drink. I also got a brown sugar striped milk drink ($5.65) that came with 2 toppings. I chose pudding and grass jelly. Both drinks were good but it was kind of powdery which irritated the throat so I wish it was dissolved more. I got the oolong milk tea which seemed to be a popular item based on their Top 10 Drinks list, but I was disappointed. There was a lack of an oolong taste in the drink. It was so watered down that there was barely even an oolong aftertaste. They also put a lot of ice even though I asked for less ice. It also wasn't sweet despite being 75% sugar! Not what I was expecting AT ALL. I couldn't even finish the drink and ended up throwing it away. My family seemed to really enjoy the taro milk tea though! Bummer to give this shop 2 stars since their customer service was so friendly. NOTE: They currently do not do a taro topping anymore. They do have taro pudding though. read more

Zero sweetness in it at all and was such a huge dissapointment on our hour drive home. We chose this place because we prefer the chubby cups. New boba place! When you order Sugar stripe milk, you can choose 2 toppings; I got grass jelly and pudding and it was good. Tip: If you like taking pictures of your drink, make sure to take a picture right away because the stripes will disappear while driving home. I also ordered Fresh milk Oolong tea and added boba. If you didn't know already, the difference between Fresh milk oolong tea and Oolong Milk tea is that FMOT has whole milk, while OMT is non-dairy. I love milk so I got FMOT. Without adjusting the sweetness, it was already the perfect sweetness (not too sweet). The amount of boba was perfect and the texture and size was perfect. The size of the boba was like a medium size. When I got the drink, boba was warm in contrast to the cool drink. The proportion of all the ingredients of each drink was well thought out. It's a simple and small tea house but they offer a wide variety of milk teas, smoothies, fruit and yogurt drinks. We ordered a large Avocado smoothie with boba pearl and Honey calamansi juice (special). They have a regular and large (.75+) size. Surprisingly, both drink were good. Service was moderately fast. Staff was attentive, nice, followed health protocol. Prices were very competitive and fair. Parking is free and limited but had no difficulty finding a spot. The menu is written in Chinese letters with English next to it. I asked the front desk if she speaks Chinese. She said no. I am curious. If they don't know anything about Chinese why did they put it on the menu? Is it a fake Asian tea house? Maybe it's a strategic reason to let customers think it's an Asian teahouse but it's not. New boba place that opened up in south El Monte! Honestly I came by only because they were running a promo of buy one get one free. Parking: Kind of hard to turn in if you're coming from the West side. The lot is also small. It's located on the corner of Santa Anita and Garvey. Matcha coffee latte: It's not bad, I'd probably order it again. The drink was perfect without sugar adjustments. At first you taste the slight bitterness of matcha and then it finishes with the coffee. The drink's also pretty heavy. One thing I didn't like about it was the clumps of matcha in there. They probably needed to stir it a bit more before mixing it in. Mango refresher: total pass on this drink. It was super syrupy. Artificial stuff. It was sorta refreshing but it needs like half sugar or less. I'd probably return to try their fresh fruit drinks and milk teas. read more

Drinks are decently made of quality and the place is well decorated for relaxation. It i just usually pretty quiet time to time and not one of those places where people will come often. They don't really have a lot of customers so that can be good or bad. They also do not really support ordering in and provide no real amenities such as other spots for customers that do decide to socialize and order even more. They won't be really supportive if you're Asian or not Asian, or whatever about support so it is best to get things to go if you just solely want drinks made. Also, protect your car and person when you are around. There are homeless people & trash there sometimes. Hopefully they aren't harmful if you just mind your business. read more
