I've seen this truck around Plano for years and have always wanted to try it. Today I finally did and was so disappointed. The fish wasn't crispy at all, the cole slaw was served in a cup with the dressing on the side. It's not a typical cole slaw dressing either. The fries were ok but also not crisp. First time to try this food truck. Had about a 30 min wait, which was fine. The employees were very friendly and polite. Ordered the fish and chips dinner. Notice the fish was over cooked, fries were great. Few hours later.... felt nauseous, stomach aches, then spent a couple hours on the toilet. Never again will I ever eat this food. Service was good. Order taken on time. It was pouring cats and dogs, and even flipping dinosaurs as far as i am concerned. I was told 15 minutes for the order. But i didn't get my food until 30 minutes later. I was hoping that the food would make up for the time, but i was disappointed. First things first on the food. Lots of folks know how to cook or have worked in restaurants. I could tell that oil the fries came out of had gone past the point of no return. The fries had this off putting taste to them, once you have reached the end of the smoke its time to change it out. Hint: even old yeller got taken out in the end. Fish by itself didn't have the same taste, so i assume it came from a different fryer. I had two decent sized pieces, while piece number three looked like it had limped into the box & was barely noticeable. Taste wise not bad, but could use some more seasoning. I would "highly recommend"changing out the oil frequently. Add more seasoning to the fish batter and maybe might want to go old school here and make your own tartar sauce. Not sure i ll go back. I would give it a 5 star but the I asked for malt vinegar and the guy told me it was in my box but when I got home I had a sweet and sour sauce the food was really good and it was awesome seeing them making it to order. After I paid, plus tip, they told me it would be about 10 minutes. 30 minutes passed and I noticed a large order that came in about 15 minutes earlier was filled so I walked to the window. The guys smiles and says "we were calling for Shawn". He didn't offer an explanation, and my name is not close to Shawn. So I asked that he refund my money knowing that cold fish is not good, but he said they would redo the order. He obviously didn't as when I got to the car the food was cold and mushy. So if you want to be mistreated, certainly see these guys. I would think service companies; restaurants, food trucks, etc. would know that when you screw with someone, they are likely to tell everyone. While a little on the expensive side, we found this food truck to be very good. The have two choices: fish and chips or just fish. The cod was fried to a deep golden brown and even after transporting home was still very crispy. The fries are double battered and also stayed nice and crispy on the way home. Unlike most food trucks the service was super fast. At $14/ plate for the fish and chips , where you got 3 pieces of fish and fries. Just fish was $12. read more

It was close to closing, I waited in a very long line, they did not return my credit card which my fault was not noticing that right away, and the fish was tough and not even able to cut through it with a fork. they didn't give me any vinegar either and again my fault for not asking I guess. But isn't that a staple with Fish And chips? I ended up having to replace my credit card and change out all of the payers that had been set up for that card. I got fish & chips when On the Hook was in Woodland Park, CO probably around a year ago and thought it was really good. I went again last week and got 4 orders of fish & chips for the family and that's the last time I will ever give them any of my money. Every single piece of fish in all of our orders was comically thin, tough and dry. The amount of fish was absurd, like literally maybe 1-2 ounces per order. It seemed like they were battering up and frying the scraps you'd normally throw out. Probably the worst fish & chips I've ever had. I emailed the company a week ago and told them about our experience, giving them a chance to possibly explain why this might have happened. I never heard back. A friend also got a couple orders of fish that same night and said he had the same experience. Big bummer. It used to be really good. read more

I Recently ordered fish and chips at the truck that stopped in Gainesville Texas. I was sorry for doing so. The fish as well as the fries were completely void of any seasoning at all. The only flavor was from the tarter sauce. My wife and I will not be ordering anything when they return in the future. I've eaten fish and chips all over the world and with respect to the United States, I compare the quality to that which you get on the west coast of Oregon and Washington state. I had to give it a 3 this time and was thinking of 2 but not that upset as yet. we have had Hook fish a few times in 2022 and it was the best fish and chips we have had close to being in England. But for our first time 2023 we went that happy with the whole meal seem mushy and chewy fish , batter also seem little more oily that normal. on the bright side the cook and order person were friendly. So with this said we will try it again to see if it was off night or something was working right for them. I also will be adding a picture of our fish. I wanted to love this place, but was less than impressed. The fish was only crispy on the ends. Other than that the batter was soggy and tasteless. The french fries and the sauces stole the show so that's not saying much, but they were tasty. Expected the batter on the fish to have been crispy all the way through with more flavor.
