This place has great customer service but still can't stop talking about the brisket. You know they are usually good quality beef and they are cooking and preparing it right! They had all eaten at Old 300 BBQ before, but today was my first time trying it. Since we were gonna be on the road, we got sliced marbled brisket sandwiches with French fries and a few cobblers for sharing (peach, blackberry, and pecan). The sandwiches are HUGE! They come with soft, toasted buns and a nice pile of juicy, tender brisket! The meat was so tasty that I chose not to use sauce. That said, I hear the BBQ sauce is pretty good in case you like brisket that way. French fries had a nice texture and were super good! My sister, who considers herself a fries aficionado, absolutely loved them. The cobblers were fantastic too! My favorite was the peach cobbler, but the pecan was a close second. Two friends invited me to try this place and we ordered brisket, ribs, sausage, chicken, baked potato, Mac and cheese, and potato salad. We also tried two BBQ sauces and agreed the regular sauce was much better than the spicy one which was oddly sweet. The condiment bar was set up well with pickles, onions, and bread. The Mac and cheese was super dry, grainy and over cooked. The potato salad was okay. The sausage was delicious and we tried regular and jalapeño. The chicken was tasty as well but the ribs were on the dry side. The brisket had a great smoke ring but wasn't tender and was also dry. After paying nearly $90 including three medium iced teas we all agreed we won't be returning. read more

The Burnt ends on the moist brisket were really good. There was tough parts as well. Over all the meats were a 10/10 Sides: potato salad was okay. The creamed corn was piping hot lol. 300 is perfect in bowling and Old 300 BBQ is perfect! We were traveling and decided to give it a shot - good call!! The staff is very friendly and helpful. We ordered brisket and jalapeño sausage with green beans, coleslaw and Mac n' cheese. Let me first say - I'm a BBQ snob so I was of course skeptical. My wife it the ultimate Mac n' cheese snob - I can't count how many times she's taken a bite and pushed it away. The brisket was perfectly prepared - not too lean and not too moist - spot on! The jalapeño sausage had a really good - flavorful and juicy. Two hits to start with. The green beans were flavored well but not overly so and perfectly cooked - not mushy like some places serve. The coleslaw was a great combination of slight vinegar but also a bit creamy - I've not had any quite like it but I really enjoyed it. Their two BBQ sauces were also quite good - one a bit spicy and one a bit sweet - we liked them both. Of course no BBQ can go without pickles and onions. Now, at least 75% of BBQ joints simply cut up an onion and throw it out there - hey, it's an onion, right? Wrong! These onions were probably the best sweet onions I have had in many years! Now - the Mac n' cheese. It was fabulous! My wife grudgingly gave me a bite and it was amazing! The fact that she ate it all (and almost didn't give me any days it all). In her words 'this is the best Mac n' cheese I've had in a long, long time - maybe ever'. So there you have it! My family and I stopped here on the way back from Johnson city after a day at the Science museum. We walked in and it was a great hometown vibe with a basic easy to follow menu. I stopped at this place as I was driving through town. I was very hungry and had a craving for some good Texas bbq! Upon entering the building I was greeted with a warm welcome. Upon inspecting the menu I decided to order one of their signature sandwiches called the "Farrah Fawcett". Pork loin, Turkey, and brisket all packed in a hoagie roll. This one was a looker for sure. However, I was expecting a bit more from the sandwich. In my opinion I felt that the meats lacked any kind of distinguishable smokiness. I tried mixing it up and used some sauce to kick it up a notch. I was happier with the taste but still felt it was missing something special. Well after visiting the Christmas lights in Johnson city (which is a must do at Christmas time) we were hungry and rolled on into Old 300. We knew it was going to be good because it smelled delicious when we got out of the car. And I do not like cream corn, but as I tell my kids you have to try it, and oh my, I will eat that cream corn anytime!! Attended an awards ceremony there recently and they have a spacious area for a large group that also has a bar. Very comfortable for the attendees.
