Not sure what is going on, but the last couple of times we have eaten at Old 300 BBQ, the ribs have been horrible and the brisket was not good. The ribs were tough and way over-seasoned and the brisket was the same. Brisket sandwich was served on a horrible hogie type bun. What is going on? Sad, because we drive an hour to dine-in. Our day of touring the Texas hill country started in Austin and took us to Fredericksburg, then to Luckenbach where the hunger pains started in a big way. We "Yelped" BBQ restaurants near us and came across Old 300 in Blanco. On the money! Two of us had the impossible-to-finish, make-a-rabbit-hug-a-hound "Sam Houston" signature sandwich, a combination of mouthwatering Akaushi beef brisket, turkey, and jalapeño sausage. We ordered sides of cole slaw and fried okra. I don't mean to dis the pork loin sandwich my sister ordered, but I had so much meat in front of me that I passed on a bite of hers. Visited this place while visiting Blanco and what a great idea! This place has awesome brisket and let me say it tastes so good and is so tender, you Don't even need sauce. This place has great customer service but still can't stop talking about the brisket. You know they are usually good quality beef and they are cooking and preparing it right! Simply delicious and a must have here in Blanco. If you are stopping by or driving by, you must stop here. I'm not a local, but I will be definitely driving back and making the hour drive to get back here and come eat this tasty and delicious brisket again. This place is great!! read more

If you hate big, delicious brisket sandwiches, keep movin'! But if you love them, well, you're in luck! Old 300 BBQ's got you covered! My family and I got lunch to go as we passed through Blanco. They had all eaten at Old 300 BBQ before, but today was my first time trying it. Since we were gonna be on the road, we got sliced marbled brisket sandwiches with French fries and a few cobblers for sharing (peach, blackberry, and pecan). The sandwiches are HUGE! They come with soft, toasted buns and a nice pile of juicy, tender brisket! The meat was so tasty that I chose not to use sauce. That said, I hear the BBQ sauce is pretty good in case you like brisket that way. French fries had a nice texture and were super good! My sister, who considers herself a fries aficionado, absolutely loved them. The cobblers were fantastic too! My favorite was the peach cobbler, but the pecan was a close second. All in all, I liked this Hill Country gem, and if I ever find myself passing through Blanco again, I'll be ready to stop in for some of their delicious 'cue. read more

They are a bbq joint. But they don't have a 1 meat plate or 2 meat plate or 3 meat plate with sides on the menu like all other bbq places do. They sell meat sandwiches. No plates. I wanted a low carb meal... ie meat, I requested couple slices brisket and 2 Ribs with beans and slaw. They forced me to buy a certain amount of brisket and ribs. Two friends invited me to try this place and we ordered brisket, ribs, sausage, chicken, baked potato, Mac and cheese, and potato salad. We also tried two BBQ sauces and agreed the regular sauce was much better than the spicy one which was oddly sweet. The condiment bar was set up well with pickles, onions, and bread. The Mac and cheese was super dry, grainy and over cooked. The potato salad was okay. The sausage was delicious and we tried regular and jalapeño. The chicken was tasty as well but the ribs were on the dry side. The brisket had a great smoke ring but wasn't tender and was also dry. After paying nearly $90 including three medium iced teas we all agreed we won't be returning. read more

Came here after swimming at Blanco State Park and it hit the spot. We got the brisket and pork loin and three sides: green beans, fried okra, potato salad. All were great. Pretty solid bbq. One of three restaurants that's open in Blanco texas I got the ribs, brisket and sausage. The ribs were exceptional! Very good and cooked to perfection. Ribs are not easy to perfect but old 300 bbq has done it. If you like rib this is the things to try. The jalapeño sausage tastes exactly like Rudys. Really good. The Burnt ends on the moist brisket were really good. There was tough parts as well. Over all the meats were a 10/10 Sides: potato salad was okay. The creamed corn was piping hot lol. Much better than the potato salad The real winner here was the banana pudding. My god it was so good. Damm I could eat a pint of that! Great jobs guys. I'll be back. 300 is perfect in bowling and Old 300 BBQ is perfect! We were traveling and decided to give it a shot - good call!! The staff is very friendly and helpful. We ordered brisket and jalapeño sausage with green beans, coleslaw and Mac n' cheese. Let me first say - I'm a BBQ snob so I was of course skeptical. My wife it the ultimate Mac n' cheese snob - I can't count how many times she's taken a bite and pushed it away. The brisket was perfectly prepared - not too lean and not too moist - spot on! The jalapeño sausage had a really good - flavorful and juicy. Two hits to start with. The green beans were flavored well but not overly so and perfectly cooked - not mushy like some places serve. The coleslaw was a great combination of slight vinegar but also a bit creamy - I've not had any quite like it but I really enjoyed it. Their two BBQ sauces were also quite good - one a bit spicy and one a bit sweet - we liked them both. Of course no BBQ can go without pickles and onions. Now, at least 75% of BBQ joints simply cut up an onion and throw it out there - hey, it's an onion, right? Wrong! These onions were probably the best sweet onions I have had in many years! Now - the Mac n' cheese. It was fabulous! My wife grudgingly gave me a bite and it was amazing! The fact that she ate it all (and almost didn't give me any days it all). In her words 'this is the best Mac n' cheese I've had in a long, long time - maybe ever'. So there you have it! Some of the best Texas BBQ you will have. Their Willie Nelson sandwich is no joke. Brisket, pork loin and jalapeño sausage on a hoagie roll. You will struggle to eat it like a sandwich because it is so stuffed to capacity, but it is AMAZING. And, to be clear, everything else is amazing, too. Great barbecue without a line out the door is hard to find, but I finally found this place! Awesome food and good vibes all around. The food is affordable and delicious. Portions are also huge. 1 lb of brisket and 1 lb of jalapeño sausage with a basket of okra and pint of mac & cheese was definitely enough food for 3-4 people (and I eat a lot when I'm at a BBQ restaurant). The brisket and sausage was out of this world. And oh my goodness the burnt ends are to die for. I even asked for a chopped sandwich to go and told them I was driving back home to Georgetown for my husband. I asked for them to separate the bread so it wasn't soggy and that they did. I stopped at this place as I was driving through town. I was very hungry and had a craving for some good Texas bbq! Upon entering the building I was greeted with a warm welcome. Upon inspecting the menu I decided to order one of their signature sandwiches called the "Farrah Fawcett". Pork loin, Turkey, and brisket all packed in a hoagie roll. This one was a looker for sure. However, I was expecting a bit more from the sandwich. In my opinion I felt that the meats lacked any kind of distinguishable smokiness. I tried mixing it up and used some sauce to kick it up a notch. I was happier with the taste but still felt it was missing something special. This is one of the times I wish we could do half ratings as I feel the restaurant is above average. I will have to come back and try again. read more

Well after visiting the Christmas lights in Johnson city (which is a must do at Christmas time) we were hungry and rolled on into Old 300. We knew it was going to be good because it smelled delicious when we got out of the car. We had wonderful sausage wraps, the kids gobbled their grilled cheese and brisket bits we shared, a huge brisket and sausage sandwich and cream corn. And I do not like cream corn, but as I tell my kids you have to try it, and oh my, I will eat that cream corn anytime!!
