A great restaurant! Uptown is on the downtown square In a very old building. I don't know what it used to be, but it's really nice inside the dining room. A very interesting decor. One wall is covered in Texas maps dated back to the 1500's. Interesting! Glenda ordered the chicken fry, and I ordered the chicken pasta. The staff talked with us about the building while we waited on our food. Both dishes were excellent. The pasta was slightly different from anything I had had before, and that's a good thing! We throughly enjoyed our meal. The staff told us to go out back and look around. Behind the restaurant is Blanco's original jail. Check out that lock in the picture! Also out back is a venue for weddings and such. Really nice! We will eat here again! read more

What an interesting place. The entrance is part of a theater and the restaurant is on the side. Food was amazing with good pricing. I ordered the Uptown Louie salad with crab and shrimp. Went for family dinner when in town. Exceeded expectations. I had the ziti ragu, wife had Salmon and son had chicken fired chicken and mac and cheese. Everything scratch made a delicious. Love the whipped butter with the bread service. Servers very nice and the place is beautiful on the inside. Restored old building. Will come again when in Blanco. My daughter got engaged and has told us that she wants to have the service at a wedding venue. We had heard that Uptown Blanco has a good reputation for that, and we wanted to check it out. In checking out the venue, Moses (Manager for everything) talked about them catering for the wedding. He was so helpful in going through all the details that we wanted our daughter to look at it for her wedding. To top it off, she could eat at the restaurant and see and taste the food that would be catered. We made an appointment to return with my daughter and her boyfriend. Unfortunately, it was on the same weekend as the Lavender Festiva, and the weather cooperated by giving a 100 degree dayl. It looked like everyone in all the surrounding counties were in town for the festival. We decided to eat first before going through the wedding venue with her. The wait was not too long, and Moses put us at a very good table away from all the crowd. Our waitress was so nice. She took very good care of us. In fact, the Lavender Festival lunch menu stated "No substitutions" but I wanted to make a change (I wanted some of those fresh green beans). She said to give her a minute. She came back and advised me that they would gladly make that change. Our food came pretty quickly and was exactly as we ordered. Everything was piping hot, seasoned well, and tasted so good. This is my new favorite restaurant!. It literally has everything you could want. The ambience is absolutely breathtaking. Even when you pull up to the Old Town square with the courthouse in the background you can see into the building through the glass that someone has put a lot of time and energy into preserving this old timey feel that you just can't get anywhere else. The tables are super cute and analogic to fit the architecture and the rest of the interior design. The staff is friendly and helpful. The menu is off charts. It has this American feel but then it just has a special culinary flavor that is unique and special to Central Texas. Sometimes we stopped in here for breakfast because I would say it's the best breakfast around with the crepes, oatmeal, pancakes, and my favorite sausage and gravy. The dinner menu is also amazing with my favorite being the classic chicken fried steak smothered pork chop. You definitely need to make a special trip because this place is worth it! read more

What huge let down for an Easter brunch. Cannot believe no reservation was listed for us upon arrival. Told the we called 100 times. When we called them on several occasions. We go to the Uptown Restaurant a couple of times a year and generally like it. This was the first time it was a bit disappointing. Customer services was great, no issues there. The food was a bit different than what we were accustomed to. I ordered pork tenderloin special. I wanted to substitute the green beans for something else. They would not honor. The pork came out as a glazed pork chop unless the waitress had it wrong, this was not a tenderloin and was a bit on the tough side. Was overall okay but not what I thought I had ordered. Husband had chicken fried steak and it was just okay. We will likely go back again since we love the atmosphere and customer service and generally the food but this time was a miss. read more

Uptown certainly serves UPscale choice of foods with great commodities. The sides are an indulgence, the various options are always great. Plus the options for surf or Turf are fabulous. Ordered wine and they allowed to taste to see if sweetness was correct. Appetizers are a sure pleaser with the goat cheese, salads are nice and crisp with options. This place is a hidden gem. I love the atmosphere and the service is great. Our server, Mei, was on her first day and she did wonderfully. The dishes were all perfectly prepared and were pieces of art. Large pieces of art, every dish was OP. We brought our two college-aged, athletic sons and they were stuffed (even had leftovers). Being stuffed didn't keep us away from their local peach cobbler. Give this place a try, the bldg is historic and the chef has earned a place in our future. read more

We did not make a reservation since we were on our way back home. We found this place and it has good reviews. When we arrived we had to wait a bit for a table- no worries we did not have a reservation. The issue came the moments after we were seated and were served some water. We sat. And sat. And sat. For over 15 minutes no one came by or even near enough to our table to flag them down. Finally a waitstaff wandered by (on her way to serve someone else) and I flagged her. She rather reluctantly took our order. Finally we thought. 25 minutes later no food. Still no one stopped by to say "sorry about the delay we are short staffed). I went to the front desk and asked to speak to a manager. He came out and I told him our plight. He said yes they were short staffed and on a Saturday 35 minutes for food is not unreasonable. But I said 15 minutes for someone to take our order? And he said a party of 6 and a party of 10 came in just before us. I said I understand but no one even acknowledged us Funny once I spoke to the manager miraculously our food came out 1 minute later. Then all of a sudden staff stopped by to ask how the food was or if we needed anything. He did offer to comp a dessert which was nice. The pork chop btw was excellent as was the lobster bisque. That's the only reason they get 2 stars. And the dessert comp. But we will never be back. read more

Attentive and professional service. Beautifully restored late 1800's building across from the Courthouse. Clean and orderly with nicely appointed tables. The food was beyond compare. The menu is a little limited, by similar restaurants comparisons, it allows them to specialize on each item. And it shows. I had the Poblano peppers and my son had the honey glazed pork chop with carrots and green beans. We shared a side of creamed spinach. All were hot and awesome. Now, I am a creamed spinach gastronomic (Is that a word???). Of all that I have had anywhere, globally and locally, this was the best that I have had. Perfectly smooth creaminess with a dense spinach content and a crispy cheese top. A trip to Blanco will happen again soon! read more

Delicious gem in a small town. This restaurant has history, great customer service, delicious food, and reasonable prices. One unique thing about Uptown Blancos is that their menu changes daily. Oh of course, they say its haunted. Some staff say they have seen the ghost! Maybe because they have an old jail in the back? I guess you have to visit and see for yourself. We had a group of fifteen women and they accommodated greatly. Drinks were never empty, conversations with the staff was great, and the food was hot and delicious. (We had reservations.) We have dined here many, many times. We live only 11 miles away. So I brought my wife to dine there on Sept 26, 2024,....for her birthday. We ordered the 16 oz ribeye dinner. What we received was a thick, fatty, tasteless roast of a steak. It was sided with sweet glazed mushy sliced carrots and a glob of watery mashed potatoes and gravy. When we complained about our meal, which we largely left untouched, Vivian, our waitress was very sympathetic. She agreed with our comments, apologized, and said she unfortunately couldn't offer us anything, but that Morgan, the manager that evening, would call me the following day. Morgan NEVER called (no missed calls, voucemails, texts,...nada!) TODAY,....now 2 weeks later, I reached out to them AGAIN thru Facebook to ask why no one had ever reached out to us. In reponse I got an argumentative UNnamed response telling me that Morgan had tried repeatedly to call me, that she knew our meal was perfect, that no one had ever complained before and suggested that I was ignorant and didn't know what a ribeye steak was. It was surprisingly RUDE, Argumentative, unconcilliatory AND insulting. No compensation or anything was offered. The very next day we recognized a couple that had been there that same night. We talked to them and found out that they had ordered the SAME MEAL. Not surprisingly,...they agreed. Their meal SUCKED. We only live 11 miles away. But we will NEVER be back. read more

Not sure what happened at this restaurant. Went there for the first time in about a year. I ordered Shrimp and Polenta. Wife ordered chicken fried steak. We were served with two shrimp and polentas. Server said sorry and give me three minutes to get the chicken fried steak. That should have been a sign. Like how can you do that in three minutes. Well, the chicken fried steak came out with the batter burned and it tasted awful. Somehow the spices in the batter got concentrated and again it was toasted very dark brown. She scarped off the batter to get to what was over cooked meat but at least the gravy covered up the yucky taste. My shrimp and polenta was ok but nothing special. To their credit they did give us the extra shrimp and polenta in a to go box. Doubt we go back as it is a long way from our house. read more

The ambiance this particular evening was a gymnasium lighting for our dinner and poor guest reception at the host counter. The 16 oz ribeye steak was a poor quality and full of fat. The side of carrots was drenched with molasses that it drained into the mashed potatoes and steak. Was not good at all. There was no cabernet wine so we settled for a poor quality Zinfandel. The meal was very over priced and they charged a liquor tax on wine which is unheard of and may be illegal. Needless to say the next I'm passing through Blanco Tx, I will keep on going. read more

This was the best food we have ever had in the Texas Hill Country. The venue is elegant and inviting and was very tastefully decorated for Christmas. The waitstaff was perfect. The manager came by twice to check on us. The braised brussel sprouts appetizer was delicious and alone would have made a meal for two. My boyfriend (the food snob) said the chicken fried steak with glazed carrots and mashed potatos with gravy was the best he's ever had. My salmon served atop wild rice and steamed asparagus was wonderful. I made two more meals of it! They comped a beautiful chocolate brownie with ice cream for my boyfriend's birthday.
