Hubby and I came here for Thursday lunch. We were immediately greeting by the super friendly hostess and seated immediately. Everyone was very friendly and well, we got drinks quickly. There was a very large party in the restaurant and a few other couples. We ordered the pick two option with hubby getting a 1/2 Caesar salad and 1/2 club sandwich, I got half cup of French onion soup and 1/2 chicken salad on a croissant. Even though it seemed simple enough we waited right at an hour for the food, assuming due to the large party I think the chef brought our food out himself and apologized for the wait. I thought that was nice. Hubby said his sandwich was okay, it was very messy with avocado on it and the salad was good. My chicken salad croissant was absolutely delicious. The croissant was perfectly buttered and toasted enough that it held together well and was flaky and not over done. The chicken salad was the best I've had in a long time! The French onion soup was nice and light and simple. Perfect for an afternoon lunch. read more

My favorite dish at Uptown Blanco is the Pescado a la Plancha. It's one of the best seafood dishes I've ever had anywhere. It's light, healthy, and above all absolutely delicious. For me, the trifecta of culinary greatness is achieved when a dish is delicious, healthy, and set at a reasonable price, and Uptown certainly excels at this. Highly recommend: 11 out of 10. read more

Had dinner on a Thursday evening and everything was excellent. Hot Honey brussels sprouts were incredible. Two of us ordered the Steak, it was cooked perfect. Service was fast and friendly. Highly recommend. We will dine there again. read more

Excellent service and food is amazing. There was live music the evening we were there. We are going back soon!

A great restaurant! Uptown is on the downtown square In a very old building. I don't know what it used to be, but it's really nice inside the dining room. A very interesting decor. One wall is covered in Texas maps dated back to the 1500's. Interesting! Glenda ordered the chicken fry, and I ordered the chicken pasta. The staff talked with us about the building while we waited on our food. Both dishes were excellent. The pasta was slightly different from anything I had had before, and that's a good thing! We throughly enjoyed our meal. The staff told us to go out back and look around. Behind the restaurant is Blanco's original jail. Check out that lock in the picture! Also out back is a venue for weddings and such. Really nice! We will eat here again! read more

The eggs Benedict were outstanding. We also appreciated the thoughtful tea service. Our waitress was so friendly and helpful. The dining room was lovely and inviting. We really enjoyed the historical touches. read more

Absolutely outstanding. The staff, the food, the atmosphere, everything was fantastic. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted and treated like they had been waiting for us to get there, and were more than happy to see us, but in a way that felt more like family than customers. From Laney our wait person and wine recommender and food guide and history guide to Sebastian our server and and history guide and generally collegial gentlemen, to Rachael the hostess and coordinator and also history guide and ALSO tour guide, to Michael our ever present jack-of-all-trades and photographer, everyone seemed to be there for US, on my wife's birthday, and it was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had, anywhere. I say that having been to (at the time I write this) 32 of the 50 states, and 62 countries in the world. The people here are beyond compare. If you want a great experience,a great meal, and wonderful people who treat you like they are pleased to see you, proud of their establishment, and happy to be professional as well as personable, go here. read more

What an interesting place. The entrance is part of a theater and the restaurant is on the side. Food was amazing with good pricing. I ordered the Uptown Louie salad with crab and shrimp. It was delicious, filling and $15. Shrimp were huge. Service was ideal: on time and friendly. Truly enjoyed eating at Uptown Blanco. read more

My daughter got engaged and has told us that she wants to have the service at a wedding venue. We had heard that Uptown Blanco has a good reputation for that, and we wanted to check it out. In checking out the venue, Moses (Manager for everything) talked about them catering for the wedding. He was so helpful in going through all the details that we wanted our daughter to look at it for her wedding. To top it off, she could eat at the restaurant and see and taste the food that would be catered. We made an appointment to return with my daughter and her boyfriend. Unfortunately, it was on the same weekend as the Lavender Festiva, and the weather cooperated by giving a 100 degree dayl. It looked like everyone in all the surrounding counties were in town for the festival. We decided to eat first before going through the wedding venue with her. The wait was not too long, and Moses put us at a very good table away from all the crowd. Our waitress was so nice. She took very good care of us. In fact, the Lavender Festival lunch menu stated "No substitutions" but I wanted to make a change (I wanted some of those fresh green beans). She said to give her a minute. She came back and advised me that they would gladly make that change. Our food came pretty quickly and was exactly as we ordered. Everything was piping hot, seasoned well, and tasted so good. My daughter went on and on about the carrots (she said they were the best she ever had). Will I return? Definitely! read more

This is my new favorite restaurant!. It literally has everything you could want. The ambience is absolutely breathtaking. Even when you pull up to the Old Town square with the courthouse in the background you can see into the building through the glass that someone has put a lot of time and energy into preserving this old timey feel that you just can't get anywhere else. The tables are super cute and analogic to fit the architecture and the rest of the interior design. The staff is friendly and helpful. The menu is off charts. It has this American feel but then it just has a special culinary flavor that is unique and special to Central Texas. Sometimes we stopped in here for breakfast because I would say it's the best breakfast around with the crepes, oatmeal, pancakes, and my favorite sausage and gravy. The dinner menu is also amazing with my favorite being the classic chicken fried steak smothered pork chop. You definitely need to make a special trip because this place is worth it! read more

Uptown certainly serves UPscale choice of foods with great commodities. The sides are an indulgence, the various options are always great. Plus the options for surf or Turf are fabulous. Ordered wine and they allowed to taste to see if sweetness was correct. Appetizers are a sure pleaser with the goat cheese, salads are nice and crisp with options. Waitress and manager will come out and check up to see how everything is. Cool ambience setting for every occasion. Definitely a place to try and come back again. read more

Our go to place for group birthdays. Never disappointed in food selection or service. A+

What huge let down for an Easter brunch. Cannot believe no reservation was listed for us upon arrival. Told the we called 100 times. When we called them on several occasions. They even called us going over the menu. We wanted to be in front to sit. My elderly mother had to venture all the way to the back of the restaurant outside to kitchen. Thankfully we got a table and were served. Food service was great! read more

We go to the Uptown Restaurant a couple of times a year and generally like it. This was the first time it was a bit disappointing. Customer services was great, no issues there. The food was a bit different than what we were accustomed to. I ordered pork tenderloin special. I wanted to substitute the green beans for something else. They would not honor. The pork came out as a glazed pork chop unless the waitress had it wrong, this was not a tenderloin and was a bit on the tough side. Was overall okay but not what I thought I had ordered. Husband had chicken fried steak and it was just okay. We will likely go back again since we love the atmosphere and customer service and generally the food but this time was a miss. read more

Mom's birthday lunch- we will be back! Loved the attention to detail- the garden salad was perfectly composed and crisp- the pickled onions balanced with the dressing. And that's just the salad! The club sandwich had delicious (in- house?) smoked turkey and amazing bacon. Can't wait to return to try more of the menu! read more

I wish I could express how much we loved everything. Our dinner was perfect from salads to desserts. We will be back.

We did not make a reservation since we were on our way back home. We found this place and it has good reviews. When we arrived we had to wait a bit for a table- no worries we did not have a reservation. The issue came the moments after we were seated and were served some water. We sat. And sat. And sat. For over 15 minutes no one came by or even near enough to our table to flag them down. Finally a waitstaff wandered by (on her way to serve someone else) and I flagged her. She rather reluctantly took our order. Finally we thought. 25 minutes later no food. Still no one stopped by to say "sorry about the delay we are short staffed). I went to the front desk and asked to speak to a manager. He came out and I told him our plight. He said yes they were short staffed and on a Saturday 35 minutes for food is not unreasonable. But I said 15 minutes for someone to take our order? And he said a party of 6 and a party of 10 came in just before us. I said I understand but no one even acknowledged us Funny once I spoke to the manager miraculously our food came out 1 minute later. Then all of a sudden staff stopped by to ask how the food was or if we needed anything. He did offer to comp a dessert which was nice. The pork chop btw was excellent as was the lobster bisque. That's the only reason they get 2 stars. And the dessert comp. But we will never be back. read more

This place is a hidden gem. I love the atmosphere and the service is great. Our server, Mei, was on her first day and she did wonderfully. The dishes were all perfectly prepared and were pieces of art. Large pieces of art, every dish was OP. We brought our two college-aged, athletic sons and they were stuffed (even had leftovers). Being stuffed didn't keep us away from their local peach cobbler. Give this place a try, the bldg is historic and the chef has earned a place in our future. read more

such high hopes for this place but the food was subpar plus it took over 45 miniutes after ordering to receive the food. . I was so excited about a good prime rib. It was totally overdone.Prime Rib should be medium/medium rare / way overdone! . My husband had a pasta dish with steak. All he could find was steak with fat. So very disappointed! Delicious gem in a small town. This restaurant has history, great customer service, delicious food, and reasonable prices. One unique thing about Uptown Blancos is that their menu changes daily. Oh of course, they say its haunted. Some staff say they have seen the ghost! Maybe because they have an old jail in the back? I guess you have to visit and see for yourself. We had a group of fifteen women and they accommodated greatly. Drinks were never empty, conversations with the staff was great, and the food was hot and delicious. (We had reservations.) Menu items for the day we attended: chicken entree, green beans for extra side salmon entree, green beans for extra side oven honey chicken with green beans BLT entree w/ sweet potato fries, add side of cream spinach southwestern club (white bread) with fries house garden w/grilled chicken (Lemon herb dressing) side of sweet potato fries. Attentive and professional service. Beautifully restored late 1800's building across from the Courthouse. Clean and orderly with nicely appointed tables. The food was beyond compare. The menu is a little limited, by similar restaurants comparisons, it allows them to specialize on each item. And it shows. I had the Poblano peppers and my son had the honey glazed pork chop with carrots and green beans. We shared a side of creamed spinach. All were hot and awesome. Now, I am a creamed spinach gastronomic (Is that a word???). Of all that I have had anywhere, globally and locally, this was the best that I have had. Perfectly smooth creaminess with a dense spinach content and a crispy cheese top. A trip to Blanco will happen again soon! read more

Friendly Staff, Clean, Good Service, Comfortable Setting, Live Music. Tried the Chicken Saltimbocca. Flavorful, tender. Nice Marsala Sauce/Gravy. Good Vegetables, small portions of them. Also ordered the Focaccia Bread with Extra Virgin Olive Oil Balsamic Vinegar to dip. Good. Tried the Fried Artichokes Appetizer. Pretty good, with purple onions, jalapenos and feta cheese. May well be enough for a couple on a Date. Told the friendly, helpful, and informative Waitress, Ruth, this enjoyable visit deserves another. Also a nod to the nice young man who also assisted Ruth. And the nice young ladies, the Hostesses. The Fried Artichoke, was a little pricey, and it is a labor conscious dish. read more
