First time to visit at their new location in Johnson City. We enjoyed their sangria. A gem in downtown Johnson City! We stopped by their new location and were impressed from start to finish. The hours are convenient, the space is welcoming, and the food is exceptional. Don't miss the Morty D -- served on thin, flaky focaccia, it's one of the best sandwiches we've had in the Hill Country. We also tried the Cab Franc, which was smooth, well-balanced, and a perfect pairing for a relaxed afternoon. The staff, including the owner, made us feel right at home. Let me start by saying that we stumbled upon this place. We were on our way out of town and decided to stop for lunch. What a happy happenstance! We ordered a Greek salad and a Morty sandwich. We were so surprised we could order delicious wine along with our food. As a bonus, we met the owner, Daniel, who was not only kind but extremely knowledgeable of all things wine. What a warm, hospitable place! The food was delicious and the portions were so generous we couldn't finish our lunch. Needless to say we will be coming by every time we are even remotely close. It is delicious and definitely worth the drive. I only wish we had a place like this close to us. Truly, this place is amazing. You would be foolish to pass it up. Vinovium is a nice tasting room in Johnson City off the square. They work with different wine makers which allows them to produce great tasting wines. Service was great as well. Worth a stop if you are in the area or driving through. read more

Okay, let's get into it! Location- right off of 290 between Hye and Johnson City. I loved this location. They have an amazing patio area. It's really beautiful a great place. The inside is just as nice. They had some great trees forbus to park under for shade. Service- I came with a group on a wine tour they offered us gumbo that they had available. They were fairly nice as well. Packing / products- Taste- this was a bonus stop on our tour so I didn't have an opportunity to taste any wine but those with me really enjoyed the wines. Overall- This is definitely on my list for a revisit. This place was so chill and my speed. A great place to rent out for an event honestly! read more

Cozy winery tucked away. Dog friendly even though I didn't get to meet the resident winery dog. I got the cocktail sampler for $18 and it was a great deal. You practically get 4 drinks. My favorite is probably the white cattywampus (sangria) and my bf enjoyed the margarita. Their wine is unique here because they have them in steel canisters and tap it that way. This was an unplanned, spontaneous stop on my most recent visit to the Texas/290 Wine Trail. I was not disappointed. I've seen this place from the roadway for many years, but I thought it was more of a party place because it advertised how late they stay open. They may be a party place, but I was still impressed. While there, my friend and I were the only patrons. We had a nice visit with the server (who was the owner, maybe?). He was super nice and knowledgeable. We wound up eating lunch there and buying a few bottles. It's a different sort of place for sure, but our experience was nice. They also have resident dogs and cats that we got to hang with. Vinovium is a real standout amongst the growing list of wineries and tasting rooms along 290. My wife and I have visited many of them since buying a house in the area over a year ago. What I love about Vinovium are all the great events they put on. From lounge takeovers, where winemakers give tastings of their wine, to stand-up comedy, to Trivia nights. The owner and staff are all super welcoming and so knowledgeable about wine. They've got a large selection of rotating wines on tap and you can get a bottle filled there to take home that can be brought back to reduce on waste, which is another plus in my book. We'd only visited a couple times before we were sold on joining their membership club. And since then we've enjoyed hanging out and feeling like we're part of the family. Trivia night was such a blast. And it's on the same night as their Prime rib dinner which was out of this world - check out my pictures. For a change of pace from your ordinary winery/wine bar, I highly recommend a visit. There's really no other place like this around here. read more

Zack was great! Very knowledgeable. We did the dry tasting and all the wines were great! We enjoyed 6 tastings for 15. The pours were generous. Ambiance was nice. Has a big deck with a lot of out door seating. It was two hot for us to take advantage. The tasting was Texas high plains, Cerritos santo vineyard, chenin blanc. California Chardonnay, williamette valley, Pinot noir 2017, Texas hill country lot 83 red 2017, California Cabernet 2016 and Columbia valley, Syrah reserve 2015. read more

Ok the dog threw me off at first. We pulled up and it looked lie cujo was just standing there. Once i realized he was friendly we hopped out and went right in. The staff are so open. Zack and Jennifer made us feel welcomed and helped us during our wine tasting. This place is more like a bar but they do have a great selection of wine that you can buy. They also have awesome bbq next door. If your not scared of dogs i would recommend this place on your visit through wine country. read more

Super friendly server and great location. This is a fun winery that advertises a lot of events and offers "wine cocktails" which my wife really enjoyed. It is keg wine so it comes out of spouts on the wall and they fill a bottle for you if you buy one. This was different and I don't know enough about wine to know if it helps or not. I really liked the laid back feel. This doesn't have the pho-Tuscan Vegas facade that some of the bigger places have put up, but it is a fun lil hill country spot with a good sized deck, small indoor area and lots of shade to play corn hole or let kids run around. The wine was good - we shared a tasting which is what we usually do before buying a glass - each was a good sized pour and I thought they were going to charge us for two but good sized pour is just how they roll. Plan to return for sure! read more

Awesome patio and breeze on a beautiful summer day. Staff was friendly and Nacho the dog was so loving. They have cocktails, for those that are not wino's my husband had the wine and coke and it was delicious and refreshing. They have special events periodically and would be a great place to go and hang out and relax more often....we live in the DFW area. Restroom is clean as well, which is always a plus! Such a friendly atmosphere, and the wine on tap and wine cocktails really hit the spot. I'm partial to their reds like Ocotillo, Sketch, and Syrah. Love that they are open later than others and their fun programming like trivia, stand up comedy, opera uncorked, etc. There's even a ping pong table and giant Jenga, and it's kid and dog friendly. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for something good and a bit different in Texas wine country. They have some amazing wine...on tap! Do not pass up the Columbia Valley Gewürztraminer--it's refreshing and delicious in all the right ways. They also have wine cocktails. No liquor. Just wine. And they are fantastic! I suggest the El Niño, it's similar to a Dark & Stormy. The Old fashioned one is good too. Did I mention they were open late?!?! On a final note, I have to say that the bartender Tori is amazing! She ran a busy Saturday night on Easter weekend like it was nothing and took fantastic care of our group (all service industry veterans). Love this place! This is not your typical winery and tasting room. This is a WInery and Negotiant, meaning they partner with other wineries to offer a wide variety of flavors. Not worth the stop. We came as part of a wine tour and this was our worst stop. They were rude to my friends who paid for drinks and bottles of wine (separate from what was offered with the tour) and would not allow them to sit with us because we came as part of the tour and the table was for "paying guests". Additionally food was withheld from our group, but they explained it was because they could make $15 a plate off of other guests. It was just a bit tacky to explain it that way and made us uncomfortable. On a more positive note, I thought a couple of wines were good, but given the competition in the area and the blatant price gouging, I would take my business elsewhere. read more

Established in 2012.

Established in 2012, Vinovium has always been about bringing people together over great wine. We received our state and federal wine permits in March 2013 and in March 2016, we found our home in Johnson City, purchasing 30 acres along Highway 290, where we built and opened The Lounge over July 4th weekend that same year. In 2024, we embraced a new chapter, moving to downtown Johnson City and evolving into Your Neighborhood Winery—a place where locals and visitors alike can experience approachable, high-quality wines in a relaxed setting. While our location has changed, our commitment to community, collaboration, and the spirit of Texas wine remains the same. You go up to counter to order then they call your number when food is ready. When you walk in it looks like there is limited seating but there is more seating to the left. We ordered a blue cheese burger, Deuce Burger and a crispy chicken salad. The burgers were delicious and its a good size patty. The chicken was good in the salad. Nice local spot with great tasting burgers and tried the blackberry cobbler that was good as well. We took that to go. You get the small ma/pa shop feel. If Im in the area, I would definitely revisit the place. Note that the prices on the board show a lower price than what it really is.

We arrived at P&C mid afternoon on a Monday. We were touring this and other towns, so only ordered the pulled pork sandwich, side of mac n cheese and side of mashed potatoes w gravy between the two of us. And some extra bbq sauce on the side. The pulled pork sandw comes premade with what looks to be homemade pickles, smoked pulled pork, coleslaw, & bbq sauce. The presentation is fairly impressive. Unfortunately, the taste did not measure up. We had bites of the sandwich as a whole, and also tasted the individual ingred by themself to get a feel for what contributed to the overall. The pulled pork was hit/miss. Some of it was generously smoked & that smokiness came through. Other bites of it the smoked flavor was not prominent. Mac n Cheese - solid. By far the best thing we tried. Super cheesy, flavorful. Nice work! Coleslaw - substandard. I'd say the C range. Pickles on the sandwich - they were thicker and appeared homemade. They didn't seem like they had been left to sit long enough on the shelf for the pickling to soak in. In appearance they were still very close to cucumbers instead of pickled cucumbers. Flavor wise they didn't taste like cukes, but nor did they add a dill-ish or sweet pickle flavor of substance. (Can see the pickles in attached pic, can see the color and texture doesn't look significantly pickled.) Sauce - extremely little flavor. The consistency was not watery, but you had to close your eyes and concentrate to taste what little flavor there was - as though it was watered down immensely. Sauce gets a D. Mashed potatoes & gravy. They served the gravy on the side. The potatoes themselves were good - a little buttery and therefore enjoyable. The consistency of the gravy was mealy - was unexpected, and odd. Lacked the common flavor of a hearty gravy begun with a roux of flour and meat drippings. (Zoom in on attached photo, you can see the mealy and almost-grainy texture of the gravy.) Overall we weren't impressed. The mac n cheese being the best thing is not what you expect at a bbq place. Like I said, we wish the establishment well. But we wouldn't come back when in Johnson City. Final note, the hostess/server was genuinely warm and friendly. She was wearing multiple hats, running around, but was pleasant and engaging.

After finally going on a Friday night, I can…read moreconfidently say it was a complete waste of time--and one of the most frustrating dining experiences I've had in a long time. Let's start with the cashier. A high school-aged guy who couldn't have made it clearer that helping customers--especially disabled ones--was beneath him (I'm using my residual vision to see you, Mr. Curly Blond Boy). My friend and I are both visually impaired, so we asked a few simple, reasonable questions about the menu since we couldn't read the board. Instead of answering, he repeatedly pointed at it like that magically made it visible to us. We explained. We asked again. He still refused to actually help. This wasn't just bad service--it was an outright failure to provide even the most basic level of accessibility or human decency. Ordering turned into a ridiculous guessing game. Items were out, but instead of clearly communicating that, he made us drag the information out of him piece by piece. At one point, when we asked for mac and cheese and greens, he said, "We don't have that," and just... stopped. No clarification. No effort. We were left to guess which item he meant. That's not quirky or busy--that's lazy and dismissive. The food didn't come close to making up for it. The sausage and turkey were fine, though the sausage had jalapeño with zero warning--apparently transparency isn't a thing here. The brisket was so dry it was essentially inedible. The mac and cheese had decent flavor, but the pasta was cooked into complete mush and again the secret jalapeño zing was added. It's hard to overstate how unacceptable this experience was. When a business can't be bothered to answer basic questions or make even minimal accommodations for visually impaired customers, that's not just poor service--that's exclusionary. The place was not quirky, iconic, or appealing in any way. The decor was as generic as the food and service. It looks like they had a nice outdoor area, but we couldn't find a way out there to check it out. Apparently there was also a bar, but we didn't know it. We were given to cups to which we added water from the soda fountain. There are too many great BBQ spots out there to spend your time and money at one that treats accessibility like an inconvenience and customers like a burden. I won't be back.
