Stephanie was beyond great! She took her time to accommodate a move that she did not have to! She answered any questions our party had. This was my first time to this winery and i loved the openness. Cannot until it cool down to have wine on the patio! I also really enjoyed the spinach artichoke dip, it had little kick that I appreciated! 10/10 would recommend!

We had a great time at Covington cellars! We were welcomed with a glass of Field Rose which was very refreshing. The indoor space is quite charming and the vineyards spar across 6 acres. There's also a fair but of patio seating but it was too hot to sit outside. We tried both standard and North of 90 flights and were served mostly reds which was our preference. Many of the wines on the menu were exquisite and I especially liked the Syrah. The owner and server were very knowledgeable about the wines and explained the story behind each bottle in great detail. We also ordered bruschetta from the snacks menu, it was delicious! Will be recommending this winery to friends as one of the stops for their Hill Country tasting adventures.

We left with our hearts and tummy fully! This place is really cute, I loved how nicely it's decorated. It's a really fun place to bring friends for some bites of food and wine. The owner is so friendly, we really enjoyed getting to know her and hear about how she started this business . The food was amazing, we loved everything from the artichoke dip, charcuterie board, and meatballs. I can't wait to come back with some friend.

5 stars and a bottle of their finest! I recently visited Covington Cellars in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, and it was an absolute delight! The scenic views of the rolling hills and lush vineyards set the tone for a perfect day. The wine tasting experience was exceptional, with knowledgeable staff guiding us through their impressive selection. The wines were crisp, flavorful, and perfectly captured the essence of Texas and Washington terroir. The vineyard's atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with plenty of seating areas to relax and enjoy the surroundings. If you're looking for a tranquil retreat, excellent wine, and Texas hospitality, look no further than Covington Cellars. We can't wait to return and savor another glass (or two, or three...) in this Hill Country paradise! I purchased two bottles to go - the OG and Sangiovese. I can't wait to open these bottles at my next gathering. Peace.

It was an amazing time! We were greeted with a sample of the Rosè which was super refreshing in a hot summer day! We upgraded our tasting and the wine was delicious! We also ordered the spinach artichoke dip and the meatballs. The spinach artichoke dip was delicious! The meatballs had a lot of flavor. A little too much for me however, the hummus and Greek goddess dressing with the cucumber was amazing! You could just order that! The tastings were good and I'm glad we found a place to go to without having to go all the way into Fredericksburg! I will say the welcome rosè was probably the best thing I had!

    Good food!

Absolutely beautiful location in the Texas hill country. The atmosphere was amazing and the service was fantastic. I came with my sister and parents and we all very much enjoyed our time. The owner was so sweet and did a fantastic job explaining all the details that went into their wine. The wines are all on the dryer side, my parents that enjoy dry wine loved them and took some bottles home. All the food options we got were AMAZING. The charcuterie was fresh, beautiful, and delicious. The artichoke dip was fabulous especially with the hint of spice. I definitely plan on coming back and bringing more friend.

We had the pleasure of attending a Yelp tasting event at Covington Cellars, thanks to the gracious invitation from the owner, Cindy. Upon our arrival, we were warmly greeted with a glass of Rosé, which was a delightful and refreshing start on a hot day. The winery boasts a stunning view of the Hill Country, adding to the charm of the experience. We were ushered into the VIP room for our tasting, where we chose to sample both the free and signature wine tastings to get a full sense of their offerings. While we enjoyed almost all the wines, the Rosé and Syrah stood out as our favorites. We used to live in Fredericksburg and have visited most of the wineries. I have to say this is on the list of ones I'd highly recommend. Our visit was thoroughly enjoyable, and we appreciated learning about the winery's history. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality!

Long over due review! Came here to celebrate my birthday - from the moment we arrived we were greeted with a refreshing rose. We had the place to ourselves and really every seat is fantastic. I love the open space feel with couches in the center and tables along the edges with beautiful views. We tried the standard flight along with the upgraded flight and ended up taking home 2 bottles of the rose along with other bottles and wine glasses. We also had the charcuterie board, artichoke dip and bruschetta. Everything was delicious and I wished i had more room in my stomach to fit more! This would be a great place to come visit when the weather gets cooler as they have picnic tables outside.

The tasting was solid! We upgraded to the 90pt option and it was well worth it. It was 5 pours of highly rated reds. Most of the vines are from Washington and they were delicious. Also learned that we all didn't like syrahs, but liked petit sirahs - totally dif tasting profile!

We had a lovely time at Covington Cellars. The staff is fantastic, very friendly and attentive. The area is huge, great for large groups/families but it also has smaller tables for an intimate date. We had their spinach dip and wow, I wish I would have ordered two (I didn't because I was so full) lol. Had a wonderful time there can't wait to be back!

Wine Tasting Flights. Standard Flight on the left and North of 90 Flight list on the right.

AMAZING SERVICE!!! We had Lauren with our group. She is very personable, knowledgeable and you can tell she genuinely loves what she does. Very beautiful view of the hill country. Outstanding wine and ambience. Charcuterie board was delicious and this is the best experience at a winery in Fredericksburg ever!!! If you are looking for a wonderful experience of Fredericksburg, this is the place. Ask for Lauren and enjoy the ambience, wine and view, you will not be disappointed.

So it's the real deal. After you make your online reservation (which is extremely easy to do), you're greeted at the entry gate a hostess / staff member, who comes wine-in-hand to give you a welcome beverage and offer you a greeting that excites Texas Hospitality. You're briefly shown thegrounds, walked over to your tasting room, and introduced to your server. The grounds are absolutely lovely. This time of year the vineyards are lush and green. The property overlooks a lovely valley that reminds me of California. Walk around and you'll discover a lovely Monarch butterfly garden teaming with life. We saw over a dozen butterflies and a hummingbird. And the colors of the garden are so vibrant. We had a lovely tasting, bought a bottle of wine to take back to our VRBO, and before leaving, we ordered some food from their cafe and ate in one of their patios. The food was expensive but everything was of the highest quality and had to be made from scratch. The tacos came in beef (an amazing smoked beef cheek) or chicken (adequately spiced with Hatch green chillies) and homemade flour tortillas, homemade chips, and amazing salsa that I would have bought a bottle of if they sold it. Today's tasting was all red. But they switch things out seasonally and you may get whites or roses. But here's what you should know. Only 3% of Texas wineries only ever use Texas grapes. Some offer estate wines and many bring grapes in from the Texas High Plains but those are most often then blended with grapes from California, Washington or elsewhere. This place only works withTexas grapes. So... you're going to get the purest expressions of what the Texas soil and climate produces. This includes Tennat (tons of tannin) and Mourvedre (a small grape with thick skin that also delivers high tannin and is earthy, smokey, peppery... very savory). These grapes are celebrated in Spain, France and Uruguay. So you may be quite familiar with them. But they are very different from the far fruitier wines you may be most familiar with. They are certainly not California Napa cabs or pinots, Sonoma chards or Lodi zins. So know what you're getting into. Since they rotate their tastings, we'll come back and try more of their offerings. I really respect what they are doing here, and wineries like this are part of what makes Texas great.

This ended up being my favorite wine, not only of the whole tasting, but of the multiple vineyards we visited that day. We were brought to our tasting station which allowed for standing only and our guide was very knowledgable about the wines. I especially liked that he was purposefully reluctant to share the wine notes so that we could judge for ourselves (however, as someone who only tastes notes of wine and nothing else, it made it a little difficult). We ended up with a lineup of reds which was not what I expecting. Despite not being a huge fan of red wine, I still fully enjoyed myself and the wine that we tried. Our guide even gave us another tasting to try that was a off menu. I will be back and hopefully, I can try some more whites at that time! My biggest regret is not buying a bottle of the Mama Ruth. What in the world was I thinking?

Calais Winery is easy to miss as it sits right off 290 between Johnson City and Fred. Look for the French Flag. The cave is an intimate setting and you are surrounded by their French Oak wine barrels. It is cool in there. We learned during our private tasting that they have been producing their limited production wines since 2008. The winemaker is a French-born engineer-turned-winemaker, Benjamin Calais. Even though the wine is produced using Texas grapes Calais uses old school French traditions when producing his wines. Our tasting included their Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and even a Rose'. The Left and Right Bank Bordeaux rivaled any Cab that we have sampled in Fred or Napa. The 2020 Gravitas red blend was an absolute joy to sample and it was one of the wines that traveled home with us. From their best harvests they select the 10 best barrels in the winery and produce Gravitas. It is unbelievably complex and if you enjoy a fuller than full bodied wine you will love Gravitas.
