Bernadette was so sweet - highly enjoyed afternoon sipping wine in the shade on a lovely afternoon.

Amazing! We left with 12 bottles and we just decided to stop in on the way home! Love!!

I've been to the majority of the wineries in this area and Lost Draw is my favorite. It is consistent - fantastic wines whether you prefer red or white and the best customer service. The location is scenic - great outdoor seating. The barrel room is very nice for booked tastings. I've enjoyed every wine I've tried. I've been a member there now for two years. They also have fabulous pick up parties for members. Worth the stop!

Omg this place is my new favorite!!!! Every single wine we tasted was incredible! I first visited in Feb and finally made my way back. The property was gorgeous, green vineyard since it's been raining a lot this summer! The staff are lovely! This is a MUST stop on the 290 wine trail! Cheers!

We visited Lost Draw on a visit to Texas earlier this month, and we had a great time at our tasting! They take reservations, which makes things so convenient! The customer service was excellent - two different staff members spoke to us throughout our tasting (to tell us about the wines and their production methods) - and everyone was so friendly and helpful! The tasting room is small but cozy and comfortable. They have a lot of tables outside that looked lovely, but the winter weather wasn't such that people could enjoy their tastings outside on the day we visited! The wines were very good, and the tasting included a variety of wines (wines, reds, Bourbon barrel aged)! I certainly recommend it if you are looking for wineries to visit in the 290/Fredericksburg/Johnson City area!

We had the most amazing experience today at Lost Draw! This is our new go-to and favorite vineyard, which says a lot. We have been doing the 290 vineyards for about 20 years. This vineyard brought me back to how things used to be. Everyone was kind, pleasant, and welcoming! We had our 2 kids and 2 dogs with us (this was an unplanned stop) and the staff here made us feel like family. Dillan was our server and he loved on our dogs, gave them treats, brought our kids bubbles and snacks. Such thoughtfulness!! My daughter fell in the parking lot and Dillon brought the first aid kit so I could get her up and running again. They had live music, wonderful outside seating, and some yard games! It was a beautiful day. We did the white and rose tasting but ended up purchasing the GSM. What an amazing day. We can't wait to return!!

We really enjoyed our tasting experience here. The server was very knowledgeable about their wines and the wines were very nice. This place is one of those that are close to Johnson City, but not especially well marked. Give it a try if you're in the area.

Such an awesome experience. This spot is so cute and I can tell they have gone the extra mile to create a quality experience (from wine and food to ambience). Great wine and cheese board, passionate staff, and lovely exterior with nice seating under the trees. This is a spot you'd want to come and sip for a while to enjoy the view. I can't wait to come back here - this is now one of my favorite spots among the Fredericksburg area wineries.

    A great dry white wine

My husband and I had a great time here with our dog, Willie. It was very nice that they gave us a welcoming wine taste of some white wine that we enjoyed. There is a beautiful seating area outside where they let us bring our own food. We really enjoyed talking to our server about different kinds of wines and she let us taste a couple of other ones so we could make sure of which bottle we would like to get. We not only drink a bottle there but we also bought a bottle to take home.

    Yummy Mourvèdre!

A-mazing! My mother-in-law is a member but has only been to their downtown spot. We went to checkout their winery and we're so glad we did! The servers were so friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was welcoming and as always the wine was delicious! I was really impressed with so good the charcuterie board was the perfect size for two ( their small size ) and it was only $10!! That's a crazy steal compared to the typical cost of those boards at other wineries. It was filled to the brim too with crackers, apricots, almonds, olives, 2 types of sausage and 2 delicious cheeses! We'll definitely be back !!!

For starters, they have everything here down to a science from the wine to the customer service. When you arrive, you're greeted with a starter glass and A BLANKET. It's so chilly in the tasting room so they offer a snuggly blanket for you to use. Sarah was so welcoming, we just met and it quickly felt like she was my best friend. She took her time, answered all my questions about everything (I can be a little inquisitive) and did it all with the sweetest warmest smile. We can't wait to come back!

I'm a sucker for rosé, so I ordered a glass and it ended up being one of the best I've had from a Texas winery. The person behind the bar took the time to share the winery's backstory, which I always appreciate, and even let me pick out a record to play while I enjoyed my wine. The whole experience felt laid-back, personal and genuinely relaxing. I'll definitely be back and next time, I'm leaving with a bottle of that rosé.

He launched his own wine brand after the birth of his daughter in 2012, Tatum Rose - and thus began the next chapter in his winemaking career. With a focus on single-vineyard and Rhône varietals, Joshua has become well recognized for his quality wine production. Many long-time Texas wine fans will also remember the 2012 Hotspur, with the gorgeous wine label - just might have a bottle or two left in the cellar library! In the beginning, you could find Josh's wines at a few pop-up events which were great to attend and chat with the winemaker as you sampled his small batch produced wines. It has been a very long time coming, but the small boutique winery tasting room in Johnson City is a great addition to this journey. What was once a barbershop (which still has some of that décor) has now become the go-to tasting room for Tatum Cellars in this quaint vintage building in the downtown Johnson City square. There are currently five wines to sample. All wines on the list are currently single vineyard, plus all Texas Hill Country fruit. Production is just around 1000 cases per year, so the hands-on and personal quality checks are all there. The first bottle sampled was the 2023 Trois Étoiles. This classic Rhône style blend was crafted from Uplift Vineyard fruit and is a blend of 63% Marsanne, 21% Viognier and 16% Roussanne. It is well balanced and quite refreshing with notes of stone fruit, good acids, and a bit of minerality. Next to sample, was the 2024 Rosé of Carignane. This newbie on the list was whole cluster pressed from Spicewood Vineyards with a very beautiful nose followed by a crisp and refreshing wine. An ecxcellent wine for warm weather days. Moving to the red wines, the first to sample was the 2020 GSM. Oh my... this mighty beast is loaded with robust flavors, good acids and is very well balanced. The Grenache (60%) was sourced from Uplift Vineyard and the Syrah and Mourvèdre (20% each) came from Salt Lick Vineyards for this super fine GSM. The next red wine sampled was the 2020 Syrah. For this vintage, the fruit was left hanging on the vines longer than normal and it underwent extra maceration and had a "splash" of Mourvèdre added to it. It has very nice smoky notes to it along with natural tannins to dance across your palate for that big mouthfeel satisfaction. Rounding out this fantastic tasting experience was the 2020 Mourvèdre sourced from Salt Lick Vineyards. Sitting at 15.4% abv, this high alcohol wine is well integrated with spicey notes and a touch of nuttiness on the finish. This wine was made with Montepulciano skins as part of the process for a little extra full feel and color for this wine. Everything on the tasting menu is take home worthy. You might also notice the collection of vinyl records in the corner and LP player as you sip and savor both the wines and the music collection. This small tasting room has a well shaded backyard area for that little feel of Hill Country outdoors enjoyment to compliment the classically cool inside décor. As a bonus, they are open till 8pm! You will get the vibe of how this place fits in well with the small town feel that still lingers in Johnson City when you stop in and enjoy a visit. The team is friendly, and the space is hip. It's a great place to sip, relax, and enjoy your favorite record music and wine pairing. Cheers!

Mr. Crowson (the father of Henry Crowson - the owner and winemaker, who might be a co-owner but is definitely very involved at the winery) welcome us in for a wine tasting. Since we were the only people there, it ended up being a very private, personal experience! Mr. Crowson tried the wines with us and talked to us about each. He also told us about the Crowson's non-interventionist approach to winemaking. If you enjoy or are interested in natural wine, low/no intervention wine, orange wine, or any other term that's being used right now, Crowson should definitely be on your list for a day or weekend of wine tasting in the 290/Fredericksburg/Johnson City area! (I am a fan of the low/no intervention movement, and I knew I wanted to visit Crowson when we were in the area! It's the most natural/low-intervention of all wineries in the area that I am aware of!) The wines we tasted were interesting and delicious and varied (not a tasting where all the wines take remarkably similar). The space is charming, beautiful, and very comfortable, and Mr. Crowson played some great records during our visit which added even more fun to the experience! And of course, the customer service couldn't get better than a personal tasting with Mr. Crowson, who made this a very special visit. This is a smaller winery, so I recommend you reach out to them to schedule a visit, so you can be sure they are there and open. Because you don't want to a miss a visit to this very special winery.
