    Old West Town

Very inexpensive attraction that was well worth it! There are a lot of buggies on display with many of them indoors (with AC). There is also a replica old west town that is great for photos. The staff were very friendly. I brought my kid and they also enjoyed the Museum .

What's not to like about an "abandoned ghost town" that you can explore with an unlimited photo opportunities????? I definitely recommend putting this on your list of places to visit- Bring your camera and tripod and a cute outfit! I think we did pay to get in but it was worth it especially as someone from the north who doesn't have western towns where I grew up. This is good for kids and everyone of all ages. They also rent their property for events.

    K & D CARRIAGES

K and D Carriages along with Carriage Hills Ranch Wedding Venue in Blanco Texas played the main…read moreroles in making our wedding day truly magical. Throughout the duration of the time spent planning our wedding, I was VERY wishy-washy about indulging (financially) in a carriage ride up to the altar. However, please let me say that it was VERY fair priced, I just kept convincing myself that it was unnecessary. Finally, 2 days before the wedding I changed my mind again!!! On my way out to the venue, my aunt and I stopped to finalize the carriage deal... how presumptuous of me! I called Dennis and he explained that he was 5 minutes away and would be right there. So my aunt and I waited. Thirty minutes later, Dennis showed up. Much to my disappointment, he explained that he already had a wedding and another event that day and also that the specific carriage I wanted to use (one used in the movie Gone with the Wind) due to insurance purposes couldn't come out of the museum. Disappointing as it was, I had to be a big kid about it. He was so sweet and sincere and I was the one that felt like a butt head, because I kept saying yes then no, multiple times. The wedding day comes, then the moment where I meet my groom at the altar and I get the biggest surprise from my husband to be. My husband knowing how flaky I can be had already paid for the carriage for me. THE ONE USED IN THE MOVIE GONE WITH THE WIND!!!!!! OMG! A childhood dream I never even knew I had come true. I walked out of the bridal cabin and there was Dennis, his beautiful horse, and that gorgeous carriage waiting for little old me. I was ecstatic and Dennis had this mischievous smile and look of "Gotcha" all over his face. I misunderstood the look on his face, he apparently felt really bad about crushing my dreams a few days before. It really was AWESOME!!!! I highly recommend going to check out the museum, it is like stepping back into the old west. Dennis, thank you for such a magical experience it will forever be in my memories as one of the best moments in my life. It couldn't have happened if it weren't for you and my forward thinking husband. You and Kelly are the best!!!!

A group of us went including two children and 5 adults. We all had a great time. There were lots of Booths to look at selling lots of products. My daughter and I both bought products from a man selling lotions and soaps made from goat milk in 2013 and were disappointed when we went back in 2017 and he was nowhere to be found, either physically or online. We had both hoped to buy more to replace what we had used up. But I'm getting ahead of myself. I came back in June of 2017 for my grandson's college graduation and asked my daughter if she would like to go to the Lavender Festival again. She said yes because she hadn't been since the last time I was in town so the two of us went and as before mentioned were disappointed not to find the goat milk guy. I was also keeping an eye out for the booth of Imagine Lavender Farm which had been there four years ago but never did find any sign of them this trip. I even asked at the information booth and neither name came up on their list of participators. I found a t-shirt for the festival last trip that was on sale because it was a shirt from a previous year but did not find anything like that this time. It would have been fun to buy a lavender t-shirt at the Lavender Festival if they had had one I liked for a good price. I usually try to go through the Lavender Festival twice, the first time quickly and the second time more slowly. I might have bought some lavender lotion or other products from a different vendor since the one I was looking for was not there but my daughter was getting hot, and it certainly was an extremely hot day, so I didn't want to ask her if we could take the time for me to go through again. We had both hoped to find lavender ice cream but did not see any at this year's Festival either. There was lavender lemonade but an extremely long line so we didn't end up getting any. I did get 3 or 4 things when I had the opportunity including some lavender cuticle oil, a jar of spice and s small bag of lavender coffee. If I come back to town in 4 years I'll probably want to come to it again in the hopes that I would find new booths to make up for the old favorites being gone.

We viewed many old and new establishments and historical sites along with personal anecdotes from his experiences. One highlight was the Austin Rock Art Museum (hope that's the correct name!). Richard was an awesome tour guide, friendly, knowledgeable and great sense of humor. And it didn't hurt that he bought us a beer! (Not that our bachelor party needed one...)

He walks you around downtown (6th street and over to the Moody Theater where they air Austin City Limits) before driving you across the Lady Bird Lake into South Austin to see some sights that are too far to walk. All along the way he shows you key venues explaining their history, plays you music, shows you poster art, tells you about the history of the local music and film scene, shows you key music sculptures, and is generally a nice soul with which to spend time. I'm sure I wasn't the most well-informed music fan that has taken the tour but he generously shared his encyclopedic knowledge without making me feel foolish. I'll add that I was a woman traveling alone and the only one on the tour that morning. It wasn't at all awkward or strange. I'd encourage everyone to take this tour.
