The 290 Wine Shuttle operates from Friday - Sunday (times vary) and allows you to explore the area without worrying about driving. Unfortunately, this is not a private service, so pick-ups in Austin are not offered. Instead, you'll meet in the lot at the Inn Barons Creek where you can choose from 15 wineries and distilleries along the route (Saturdays only). On Fridays and Sundays, the shuttle follows a route where you can select one winery per three time slots. On Saturdays, shuttles run from 10 AM to 6 PM, and pick up/drop off at all locations run every 15 minutes. To make the most of your experience, I recommend researching wineries ahead of time. This was a great way to experience the Fredericksburg wineries for the first time. We didn't know much about the area, didn't have any favorites to visit, and it was just the two of us, so having the flexibility of a shuttle service with a defined route was perfect for us. We recognized there was no way we'd be able to visit all of the wineries/tasting rooms, and we were ok with that reality. The 290 wine shuttle is a fantastic option for a safe ride to and from wineries. They meet you at The Inn on Barons Creek right in the middle of town and you can board anytime after 10am. We started our journey around noon and were able to quickly get our wristbands and get on a shuttle. They stop at 19 different wineries on their route and you can pick and choose which ones you want to visit. You can also stay as long as you want as they have pickups every 15 minutes, but we often saw them picking up more frequently. I think they only do the regular shuttle on Saturdays and special shuttles on Friday/Sunday. Their last shuttle pickup to take you back to the starting point is at 6pm. The only con to using the 290 wine shuttle is being limited to the wineries on their list, for example they do not visit Becker any longer, but it's still a great, safe choice for a day in Fredericksburg. read more

Highly recommended for a day of visiting and tasting at many of Fredericksburg's finest! While they did lose my reservation for the bus, they honored my word (I was ready to show the charge from my account) and they let me on the bus. I had purchased the coupon page, too, but didn't push that. I hear it was not worth it, so I am not sorry to have missed out. All the drivers were really friendly and gave recommendations and tid-bits about the different wineries. Be sure to tip them! The shuttles ran often, many were ahead of schedule. It is priced at $40 per person which I at first thought was a little expensive but totally worth it! It was just a short walk from our Airbnb and they have shuttles going every 10 minutes. So if you happen to miss a bus there is one not to far behind. They won't leave you out there stranded and for an extra $5 you can purchase to drop your packages off with the driver and they will deliver back to the pickup site. All of the drivers were super friendly and at one point we had a bus at ourselves. Can't recommend them enough if you will be in Fredericksburg for a wine trip! read more

I highly recommend this place. I was planning a bachelorette party for 10 ppl and they take care of transportation and logistics. We went to 4 different in 5 hrs. We opted out the tasting since not many of us can drink that much so the girls can choose the tasting as they go. Our driver is the cutest and sweetest man. Leslie was good at planning the schedule for us. Out all the places I called I feel like the had the best pricing. The pick up location is conveniently located and all the drivers were friendly. This is a good option if you are going to be drinking all day and have a large group. We came with a group of girls for a birthday party and it was helpful to have someone driving us from winery to winery. The shuttle goes to every stop so expect it to take awhile to get places. When decided to end the day at 4.0 which is on the far side of town. Being tired, it was a long and bumpy ride back with a full shuttle and having to stop at all the locations to see if anyone wanted to get off or see if anyone wanted on. We usually go by ourselves and drive our own car and are just responsible about making sure we are good to drive before leaving anywhere. read more

It could have been a fantastic experience if there is no concerns for Covid-19. DON't BOOK the bus if you expect reasonable measures enforced to keep passengers safe. We were extremely uncomfortable the whole time while riding the bus. First, the bus was operating at 100% capacity, there was no social distancing at all. We were asked to wear face masks when we boarded the bus but this rule was not enforced. Secondly, on the way back from the wineries, half of the people on the bus was not wearing face masks and the driver turned a blind eye. There was no reminder of wearing face mask or any attempt from the driver. We were very disappointed at the almost nonexistent safety measures. We made a complaint to the staff after we returned, however the staff/owner didn't seem to care nor show interests in addressing our concerns. He told us they did the best they could and gave us a partial refund ( refunded $60 and we paid $89) which felt like he just wanted us to leave. They claim on the website that they follow social distancing guideline and require passengers to wear mask, which was false. Don't book this if you are cautious and don't want to put your and your family's health at risk!!! read more

Highly recommend this shuttle! If you do have someone who won't drink a lot, you can definitely drive from winery to winery if you have a car and don't necessarily need the shuttle. But in general it made it super easy to go from place to place without worrying about anything. The drivers were nice. The shuttles almost always were present at the breweries and we rarely needed to wait. The only thing that was odd was our driver skipped over a winery we wanted to go see (Mendelbaum) without asking, so we actually had to walk from the next brewery (Inwood). read more

I'm confused why this has such good reviews, perhaps because the expectations are low. The shuttle does not come consistently at all, which makes this difficult. If not enough people are getting off at the winery you are at and want to be picked up from, you will not be able to get on if the shuttle is full. The largest complaint, though, is that they let people pack on the shuttle when there are no seats near the end of the dat. Our shuttle home had about 6 drunk women standing in the middle of the aisle and they were falling all over everyone the entire time... not exactly a safe riding scenario. In addition, Stephanie was incredibly rude and inconsiderate upon our arrival home for the pickup of goods. If you care about customer service and reviews I would recommend reconsidering her employment. read more

Great experience! They had a tent set up at the pick up point so you were sheltered if you had to wait a few minutes. We did not as there was a bus there when we walked up. Check-in was under a minute because we booked ahead.They keep all your purchases with tags for easy pickup at the end. Drivers were friendly. We even had a flat tire on one of the buses, but none of us even knew it until we had pulled into the next stop and the driver informed us that he had a flat but had called for an empty bus that had pulled in behind him at the same stop. So, any of us that were going on, just had to get off and back on the empty shuttle. Our favorite wineries were Becker (beautiful lawn) and Fat Ass (great live band and dancing area). read more

He provided water, helped us out of the shuttle at every stop. We had a really poor experience at one of the wineries due to a rude waitress staff, when we told Pete we wanted to leave, he quickly brought us over to Messina where we spent the rest of the afternoon. 5/5 stars for sure, if you book with the company, request Pete! read more

Did this for our girls trip/bachelorette celebration recently. Basically a hop on hop off at various wineries on their website. Buy tickets in advance online or can purchase at site. Pick up site in the morning is at a hotel a few blocks from Main Street Fredericksburg. Cannot park on hotel lot, have to do street parking. Staff efficient. Drivers very nice - mostly retirees who like people. Very professional. They pick you up same place they drop you off at each winery. We had a large group and sometimes had to split shuttles. But they come so frequent and if there are a lot of people waiting, they'll call for another shuttle to come sooner. So the wait is not long at all. They offer to hold your wine for $5 if you purchase from a winery early in and don't want to tote it to the rest of the wineries. We bought a lot so this was a definite/needed service. Cost after taxes was 50 which is reasonable and more affordable compared to some of the private wine tour groups who charge multiple times more. Upside of those is you have a private driver, shuttle, everyone rides together. Def recommend! read more

My only qualm is the price - could be a little cheaper since the wineries are so close! They pick you up right in front of the Pacific Museum on Main Street and then take you down 290, making a stop at selected wineries. They stop at most wineries on the route. There are several busses constantly running, so we never waited longer than 15 minute. Good if you anticipate on getting a little tipsy and don't want to deal with the hassle of driving and parking! They also have complimentary bottle service - you can check in wines that you have purchased and pick them up at the end of the day so you don't have to carry it around. The only negative thing I have to say about this service is that they don't turn around. This is probably one of the best things to ever happen to wine country. I thought this was going to be a small, 7 bus fleet, but no, they have 24 buses and they transport around 700 people every Saturday. I had the best experience with the driver and I will never get around Fredericksburg any other way. I left my phone in my seat when I was getting off the bus to go to Fiesta, and the driver walked the isles and made it a point to hold my phone for me.
