You can't find better in the Texas wine country. Located conveniently between Fredericksburg and Johnson City, a couple of miles from 290, this is the perfect, relaxing, luxury spot for a weekend of wine tasting. You can stay in the main house with beautiful views from the second floor veranda or, as we prefer, get a private cottage just a short walking distance. The private cottage offers a comfortable bed, sitting area and private deck with comfy chairs to enjoy wine, a cigar and a quiet Texas night with endless stars in the sky. There's also a fire pit to keep warm on a cool night. Breakfast is served every morning and features tasty egg frittata, waffles or a choice of other gourmet entrees. The main house has a wide selection of wines for purchase and cozy rooms to read or play table games. The hosts offer a free tasting at Pedernales Winery next property over connected by a boardwalk. The Rose Hill Manor is the Hill Country's top weekend lodging in my opinion!

Rose Hill Manor is life on Prozac. The B & B resembles an African Savannah Manor overlooking the breezy, subtle vistas of the Texas Hill Country. - a rocky terrain of low-lying oak trees on rolling hills. Great place to get your nap on. Just outside of Fredericksburg (and thus about an hour and fifteen from Austin) Rose Hill is a great getaway for a weekend or retreat. Room rates run from $135 - $239 depending on accommodations and time of the week, and it's well worth it. Austin's, the on site restaurant, is open to the public (make reservations before you go) and the menu is prefix for 40 bucks, and changes weekly. Lots of local flavor utilized from local farms and Rose Hill's own garden - like a true New England, Euro or Napa B & B. Of the five times eating here, I have never been disappointed. COME HUNGRY, however - it's a lot of food. So much you may just want to book a room to delay the long, dark, food-coma drive back to civilization - peppered with cracked-out deer, running towards 'the light.' Besides being the top notch place to eat and stay in this remote area, the best part of Rose Hill are the hosts, Robert and Patti (who assists award-winning Chad Fry in the kitchen), who removed themselves from the San Antonio rat race to create the dream life. They're a blast to talk to, hilarious, informative about the area and take great pride in their proprietorship. A true find where one feels instantly welcome...as it should be.

Rose Hill Manor is the quintessential luxury B&B! We were recently gifted a night here with dear friends and had a fantastic experience. There is a complimentary wine tasting at the Pedernales Cellars Winery next door upon arrival. A three course breakfast is included with your room and on weekends, a three course dinner is included. Keep this in mind since prices are higher on the weekends. Our room, in the main house, "The Sunrise Suite", situated upstairs, has a sitting room and half the entire upper balcony. A flat screen television in the large bedroom and a triple sheeted king size bed, lovely bedding and pillows, a bathroom with fluffy towels, bath gel and soaps, a microwave, coffee maker and coffee, small refrigerator and large comfy chairs round out the long list of amenities. Before dinner we sat on the balcony, enjoyed the amazing vista and mused about life while sipping wine and watching the sun go down. Dinner was fabulous with a salad of mixed greens dotted with cranberries, walnuts and bleu cheese, stuffed quail and veggies, and a delightful vanilla creme brûlée for dessert with coffee. And of course more wine and delicious port. We were full, boozy and very spoiled by bedtime! Breakfast is from 8 to 9 a.m. and you will turn in your three course choices the night before. I loved my first course, a lovely fruit dish and gluten free muffin with a dark chocolate glaze created with Namaste Gluten Free flour. Had I not already fallen in love with Chef Joseph, this would have done it! A delicious sausage and egg dish and coffee made breakfast almost two meals for me. If you love to be pampered and eat fabulous food (and who doesn't?) this is the place for you. The expansive property is stunning and you will laugh with the owners, Robert and Patti ("Red"), and get to know the fantastic staff. This is the only place I will ever stay in Fredericksburg so be forewarned, they will spoil your butt off!

Wow! Beautiful views, lovely suites. So worth the drive. Don't miss out. Walking distant to a winery and 5 star accommodations.

My partner and I stayed at this delightful small inn with our dear Texas friends on our road trip to discover the Texas Hill Country together. Totally recommend staying in one of their four "Herb Garden Cottages": we loved the Rosemary cottage. The sweeping country views from the deck were magnificent, where I spent most mornings reading a book and sipping good filter coffee. Breakfasts were hearty and delightful. One evening during our stay, we enjoyed a formal dinner in their restaurant. Service was super friendly all the time - we were made to feel right at home. Several wineries are located nearby (one, right next door, which we walked to!). We rented a limo service to take us to wineries, and this can easily be done by the helpful concierge staff at the inn. Visiting the nearby town of Fredericksburg is a must, with many high quality shops, galleries, and restaurants. Further, going to see the "Texas White House" on the L.B.J. Ranch (a U.S. National Historic Park), was another highlight of our visit to the region. As a rural break from Dallas-Ft. Worth, the Rose Hill Manor comes highly recommended as restful place to stay in the heart of Texas Hill Country.

Dining at Rose Hill is a great way to see the sunset.

My favorite thing about Rose Hill Manor are the views of the Texas Hill Country. We had a delicious three course dinner with views of the majestic sunset. You won't be disappointed with the service and atmosphere of this lovely bed and breakfast.

We stayed here last weekend while we were volunteer bottling at Garrison Brothers…read more We absolutely loved the place and our time here! Kay is very friendly, and made check-in quite easy, although a bit time consuming. You have to put a CC number in to reserve a cabin but they don't actually use it to pay for your room. They ask you to mail a check or pay in exact cash if it is less than 5 days. This didn't bother us, but it is kind of strange. Our cabin was large, relatively clean, and had some cute touches (including about 39 no smoking signs!). They stocked the fridge with fresh fruit, juice, milk, cereal, and some treats. Coffee and tea was provided as well. The best part though is the location. We felt like we were on our own private ranch. Cows were having staring contests with us, we spotted some deer and jackrabbits, and there was NO one around. At night, the stars were endless! We laid in our front and watched the Milky Way and incredible night sky. I wish we never left!!! The Country Cabin would be perfect for a family of 4, but was also great for just one couple. There's a grill out front and two ponds for fishing we sadly never made it to. The larger cabin is Right behind this one and luckily for us, it was empty. Would be fun to rent them both out some time. As a side note - the water does smell and is VERY sulphuric. If this bothers you, you probably won't enjoy your stay here. The water is also very hard, to the pint where it is challenging to feel clean after a shower, haha. This is no fault of their own though. Maybe that's why people call this place "rustic." We live in Austin but truly can't wait to come back out here! Maybe just not in the summer. Ha. Thanks for a great stay and your hospitality!!!

Upon first walking into the cabin, it had a strong odor of perfume or room spray. We had to air it out for an hour as the scent was heavy. We paid for a $90 dollar add on romance package. It included a standard bottle of an Oak Leaf Vineyard Chardonnay and a few Hershey's chocolates. This particular cabin included a loft. Our teen slept up there during our stay. It was fairly dusty and the floor wasn't clean. The cabin is fine if you plan on constant and consistent excursions in nearby Fredericksburg or local wineries. The cabin itself is charming but it could really use a deep cleaning. My allergies were triggered due to the dust inside. The first night we stayed, I turned down the bed and there was hair on the sheets that didn't belong to me or my spouse. Also, a previous guest left a claw clip on the floor next to the bed. Morning breakfast was no frills but much appreciated. Assorted yoghurts, bread, meats, cheese, boiled eggs, a few grape tomatoes and some fresh berries were delivered to the cabin at 8 am every morning. Internet is made available to guests but the signal was poor where we were at. We were unable to get online via WiFi and had to leave a bit away to get a good cellular signal. FYI, Verizon is terrible in this location. The kitchen has a mini refrigerator, microwave, toaster and coffee maker. Those are nice conveniences. One of the owners works at Der Lindenbaum and recommended it. The food is good German fare. Fredericksburg has several German restaurants to choose from. What is interesting to note is that right now the majority of our state is in a drought. So the grounds here were sandlike/dusty or have dried out grass. There is an area outside the cabins that has a small fire pit with chairs circled around. We didn't utilize that as we were exhausted by the time we got back from being out all day. Overall, if you like fairy tale themes and privacy, this is a place to consider. It is tucked into a neighborhood; the neighbors are spread far apart and it's a quiet area.

Yes, they do not have a restaurant, but the bar and environment (Fri/Sat only currently) are sooo inviting that you don't mind. The cabin itself was super cute and very clean! I chose cabin #1 because of the tub and I am so glad I did! Once you figure out how to turn on all of the features for this awesome tub it is sooooo relaxing! I'm talking "Calgon Take Me Away" relaxation!! ;)) My husband and I really took advantage of taking our "spa-like" baths together during our stay! :))) We also really enjoyed lounging on the back patio and listening to the live music playing at the Luckenbach music stage, which is literally across the creek from the cabin. The cabin did have a mini fridge stocked with complimentary waters & sodas (thanks Paul), a microwave, Keurig coffee machine, plenty of towels, a portable small grill, and tv. Just an FYI, the cabin only had a small wall barrier that didn't go all the way up to the ceiling separating the bathroom area from the bed area & no door so having privacy while in the bathroom really wasn't a thing so for those of you who are newbies in your relationship, my advice to you is to tell your honey to wait out on the patio ;)) while you have your one to one time w/ the bathroom or you can just take care of business over at the Luckenbach stage area where there are plenty of clean restrooms for use :)). There are horses and cows on the property, along with deer that you can see in the background. I also saw lots of beautiful birds while I was there. And there were some very cute kitties running around, as well. Monica has set up lots of wonderful treats in the outdoor space, as well. There's a private hot tub for each unit, there are numerous lawn games (moveable disc golf baskets, horseshoes, etc.), a hammock, and a fire pit. We lit fires and roasted marshmallows several nights, which was lovely. And the stars! They aren't kidding -- if you're lucky enough to have a clear night, the stars are unbelievable. The inside of Among the Texas Stars is probably too small for anything more than two adults, but is comfortable for two. Do note that there is nowhere to put your clothing or luggage, so you may want to pack on the light side. The inside of the cottage is very cute and comfortable. There are plenty of cooking utensils, dishes, etc. Monica also leaves wood and equipment for starting a fire in the outdoor fire pit. The treats left by Monica were absolutely delicious! The cinnamon rolls and coffee cake were phenomenal! She also left eggs, milk, cereal, and several other treats. I'm not sure what happened with other guest with the gate -- it wasn't hard to use or to get in and out of. I also didn't have any problems with checking out, or leaving the place clean. So please don't let the single negative review dissuade you from coming here -- so long as you're a grown up who can pick up after yourself, you shouldn't have a problem.
