This was our second visit to Nury's, and it remains our favorite breakfast spot in Fred. They do get busy, and you may need to wait. There is a covered attached patio that helps during their busy times (weekends). Even though they have gotten more popular, their service and food quality have not suffered one iota. You may arrive hangry, but you will not leave hungry. Their portions are generous, and you can even order a breakfast mimosa to jump-start your day. Our Chilaquiles and Huevos Divorciados were cooked and served perfectly. The chilaquiles sauce, always red, was outstanding. Dis and Dat: They are open until 2 PM for lunch, and they have expanded their weekend hours. Verify via their website. Parking is offstreet and the lot is fairly large. Service is exceptional. Their young waitstaff are all well-trained. Don't be surprised if the manager stops by to check on you. We were bummed when Nury's on Main closed as their Pizole was 5-stars but this location is an easy 5-star review. read more

I just have one huge knock. The syrup for the pancakes. They seem pretty busy so I don't know why they have these pre-packaged syrup containers on the table that can't be heated. They serve theee delicious fluffy pancakes that come out piping hot and this table temp syrup package cools them down instantly and turns them into cold batter you're trying to get through. It's almost jarring. Literally everything else was great. I had a delicious omelette. My friend had eggs Benedict she loved. But this three stack of pancakes for my son barely got eaten cause it just wasn't enjoyable after adding that syrup. Please get a syrup you can heat. Friendly, family-owned restaurant with a variety of options. The owner greeted us as we entered and guided us to our table. My partner had the chilaquiles with the verde sauce. Our son had the Torta Cubana. I went with the Hangover omelette. The service was prompt and the food came out shortly. After just having some of the best chilaquiles a couple days before, my partner was equally impressed. Mom and I were looking for something away from the hustle and bustle of Main Street. I found this had high ratings and we jumped on it. When we approached it, I told Mom "we may get the stink eye for being out of town folks since this is not in the main touristy area". We walk in and it was 180 from that. We were immediately greeted as if we were old friends by one of the family members that owns the place. Come to find out these folks have been running restaurants and in Fredericksburg for 20+ years. The wife, Nury, is the owner and brilliant chef. The husband is the head of hospitality, which after being around him for ten minutes... I get it. It's clearly his calling to make people feel welcome and comfortable. We had the cilantro soup first and a "cup" is actually a healthy size bowl! It was delicious!! Finally made it here for breakfast. I had a hankering for pancakes and hubby wanted an omlet so we could share our breakfast. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious, lived the bacon. Upon arrival we were greeted by Eric (who was also our server) and told we could choose our table. We chose a table near the front of the restaurant and looked over our menus while we waited to take our order. The place itself is an older restaurant, clean and comfortable. I ordered a standard 2 egg breakfast with toast and potatoes and sausage. The restaurant itself was quite busy and Eric was hustling as he was the only server at that time. Nury's was recommended to us by a local at a winery as a must stop. Staff was super nice and welcoming and it was super clean. With that said I'd say skip this place. The biscuits and gravy tasted like those from the Fairfield Inn, so if you think those are great this is your spot. The potatoes had no flavor except for the ketchup I put on them which was exceptional as was the jelly for my toast which was the highlight of breakfast. We went here with some good friends who live in Fredericksburg. The recommended it because it's is not always overrun with tourists, and is in a great location. I liked that it was easy to access, so much so that I didn't need my wheelchair. We were able to be conveniently seated next to a power outlet for my oxygen machine. In fact, there were a few tables not far from electrical outlets. The food and service were outstanding. The waitress was very friendly, and took our orders right away. She was friendly and kept the chips and salsa coming. They were quite good. The food came quickly enough that I didn't kill my appetite with the chips. My husband had a burger with bacon and egg, topped by a jalapeno and French fries. He loved it. I had the eggs Benedict. The Hollandaise sauce was very good, and tasted like it was made right there, not reconstituted. The eggs were poached to perfection, and the ham with thin sliced and not fatty. The hash browns were some of the best I've ever had. The menu has a wide variety of food, so there is something for everyone. Update on Nury's After a couple of years, my wife and I went back to Nury's twice this past week. First time was to be eat lunch a few days ago and this morning, a late breakfast. Food quality is still good. My lunch sandwich was their chicken sandwich. It was tasty, delicious and huge! I had one half for lunch and took the other half home. I love their fries! Fresh from the fryer, it's crunchy outside and warm to hot soft on the inside. My companions ate burger and fries and Nachos Supreme. They both raved about their lunch choices. The burger guy was so full, he took a nap on the way home. Which brings us to today's breakfast. Their French Benedict is good, not great. They took half a croissant, cut it in half and put the poached eggs on each quarter cut of a croissant. It was not very filling to be honest. Why scrimp on a croissant? Another issue is the fruit served with it. It was not very fresh. It tasted like they got the old fruit from yesterday and mixed it up with the fresh fruit from today. Mind you, this was $18 for the meal! Their service is always prompt and their servers friendly and accommodating. This place was packed with people and even had a line starting by the door. We got seated pretty fast so we considered ourselves lucky. Ambiance is very pleasant. They keep the place clean and even saw one of their servers get under a table to pick up a used napkin and jelly container. I'd come back here for lunch anytime but probably go someplace else for breakfast next time we come back to Fredericksburg for peaches! read more

Chilaquiles: the best dish. It was so good. They chips are homemade. You can get them with one type of salsa or two. French Benedict: perfect poached eggs. The side of potatoes were delicious. Huevos rancheros: good, simple plate with two eggs and refried beans. You can choose your salsa. It also comes with a few of their homemade chips. Salad with tuna and avocado: huge portion. The tuna is tuna salad with Mayo. They aren't skimpy on the avocado. It also had big pieces of tomato and olives. It is filling Pancake: perfect on its own or as a dessert. Fluffy. Great taste. We decided on this place as a better breakfast option instead of the Best Western around the corner where we were staying had to offer. There is plenty of parking as you turn in from S. Washington St. They have about 16 table tops inside and several more in their covered outdoor dining patio. The bottomless coffee is decent, but not great and they do have turbinado sugar. If you come here for lunch they do have some decent beer and wine choices. I had the classic breakfast, which was worth every penny and the Florentine choice was equally delicious. There were two shortcomings that I noticed, one was the fact they do not offer hashbrowns. But the one thing that kept this from being a five-star experience was the fact that they make great pancakes, but they have no real maple syrup as an option. I would gladly pay an extra couple of dollars for this option alone. It's not mentioned on the menu, but you can add blueberries to your pancakes. All things considered, this is definitely one of the best breakfast spots in Fredericksburg and we'll be back. I should also mention they have two locations, the other is on Main St. read more
