    Live music !

The food was delicious-- Tex-Mex meets classic American bar type food. The matchsticks and queso were standout appetizers, some of the best I've had. The margarita was also delicious. The staff was incredibly friendly! There are both indoor and outdoor seating plus live music, overall a great vibe!

indoor and outdoor venue and is self service restaurant. i got the chicken sandwhich and curly fries and really enjoyed it. It's a LOT OF BREADING and very little chicken. made it seem bigger than what it is. regardless i left full and satisfied. my bf got a chicken fried chicken and he didn't like it that much bc its more breading than chicken. next time he's gonna swap the side out instead of mashed potatoes.

Hondo's is exactly what you'd expect. An open, outdoor seating area and live music add to the ambience. The counter service is a nice touch for a quick ordering. We had a well-balanced meal of fries and salad, lol. Nothing over the top, but a nice meal as always at Hondo's.

This spot came highly recommended from friends of ours on our trip to Fredericksburg! It's super casual, but the food is delicious! Portions are huge and if you're looking for a hefty dinner after wineries all day, this is your spot! The live music is also a nice touch! We were here in July so it was hot out but once the sunset it was pretty nice! We had the chicken fried steak and the fried chicken and both were delicious! Both were fried great and super tender! We'll definitely have to be back to try some of the other items on the menu!

Hondo's is super casual, so come as you are. You can tell everyone (including the locals) enjoy this place. Parking was pretty easy on the side street nearest. There's a lot of indoor and outdoor seating. My friends and I went in mid-May, and it was already getting pretty warm. So, we were seated at a table inside. I found it to be pretty warm inside. The doors are kept wide open and I think that might've been the only air circulating. The space gives a nice Texas, country feel with lots of pictures on the wall. There was live music to enjoy, as well. Although you're seated, it's pretty casual in that you go to the bar to order your food and drinks. They'll give you a buzzer and you get your food from a pick up window inside. We really enjoyed our food and drinks. I can't remember the drink I had but it was strong and pineapple. I remember the pineapples being soaked in the alcohol as the selling point for me. We ordered a burger to split, curly fries covered in pulled pork and goodness, and queso with steak. Loved all of these but the queso was really more than I expected and it got cold fast. So eat it fast. All the portions were actually huge. I really liked Hondo's and would go back (earlier or later in the year).

Came here during Oktoberfest on a Saturday early afternoon and was seated right away on the open patio area. Live music was nice and the ceiling fans above the outside tables was much appreciated. We stuck w appetizers and margaritas and had a great time overall! Definitely would be back to try more items and the atmosphere.

This was a nice, upbeat place that my husband and I visited while on a romantic getaway. It was a bit of a wait to be seated and it would have helped if the host would have explained the process more clearly. You have to wait to be seated, then get in line to order food. The food was really good so it made up for it. I wouldn't object to visiting again.

    Hard pass on this restaurant!!!!

Really Hondo you can do better.... Much better! Why do you put two surly faced host and hostess's at the entrance of your restaurant? My husband and I came in for a meal and asked to sit outside. The hostess said that there were no tables available outside but we could dine inside. This was a slow Thursday evening and as we looked at the patio we saw at least a half dozen tables available. When I mentioned that we would be happy to share a table with another couple she said, "well you can go ask someone..." Immediate bad vibe from miss chunky monkey! As she rolled her eyes at the host who just shrugged his shoulders and reluctantly walked us to a table that was on the outside part of the patio area. He said nothing to us but turned and walked away. My husband and I moved to another vacant table, so that we could enjoy the live music. We had to figure out how to go to the inside bar, to order our food and then return to pick it up. Another lackadaisical employee took my order, while yawning loudly without covering his mouth, while I had to experience his foul smelling breath. Dirty, dull minded employees, except for the exceptional people that cleared the tables and cooked the food. I would give this place a hard pass... too many other options for dining in this town.

Hondo's has the best chips and queso I think we have ever had. We added chili and it was over the top flavorful. The weather was beautiful, so we sat outside. The atmosphere was a lot of fun and very casual.

The biscuit and gravy was the real star of my meal, so good that I almost wish I had ordered it as my main! Definitely getting that next time. My husband went for The Big Ass Sandwich and loved it. Fair warning- it lives up to its name. It's big, it's messy, and it's absolutely worth it. He said the same thing I was thinking: we need to come back. We had Kristen as our server, she was so attentive and sweet. To start we tried the sweet cornbread, lavender mint lemonade, and regular lemonade. The lavender mint lemonade was one of the best drinks I've had in a while. For our meals he had the BLTA with fries and I had the avocado and lime salad with tri tip steak. Absolutely stellar food, quality ingredients and great flavors. We had leftovers for sure, lol, something to eat on the drive back to DFW the next day. For dinner, we sat outside and had Jess as our server. She was also really nice, she had quite a few tables and still managed to give us plenty of attention. We had carnitas nachos and the ground beef soup. The carnitas nachos are... unnecessarily large. lol Luckily the soup bowl was very small so I was able to help the boyfriend with some nachos. But my small effort was not enough and he tapped out of the nachos at the halfway mark. Highly recommend the nachos if you have four friends with you. =D This was a great restaurant with a lovely outdoor space. If we lived in Fredericksburg, I could easily see us making this a monthly hang out on Friday nights. If you have the chance, make sure to get in with Kristen or Jess, you won't be disappointed.

Unfortunately, this experience felt less like a restaurant opening and more like a dress rehearsal no one stopped. First problem: location confusion. We went to what turned out to be their second spot--which, crucially, was not called Nurys on the sign. Same ownership, new space, old identity crisis. Walking in felt like entering a building that hadn't yet decided what it wanted to be when it grew up. The lingering aroma? A strange duet of fish, antiseptic, and industrial cleaning agents. Not hunger-inducing. More "urgent care with a fryer." There was no one there, which made sense--it was between brunch and lunch--but somehow the wait for food felt disproportionately long for what arrived. What arrived, sadly, was mediocrity wearing a Tex-Mex costume. They seemed to be aiming for Tex-Mex but landed somewhere closer to Tex-Flex--stretching flavors thin until they snapped. The barbacoa was fatty in a way that suggested less "slow-cooked tradition" and more "glistening regret." It didn't taste authentic, or even especially intentional. Just heavy. The guacamole--perhaps the most unforgivable offense--was bad. Guacamole is avocados, salt, lime, and love. That's it. This had none of the above. The waitstaff wasn't rude, exactly--just possessed by the clear energy of people who would prefer you to finish quickly so they could resume their real lives. Hospitality should feel like an invitation, not a countdown. Now, maybe the original Nurys is wonderful. I hope it is. But if that's the case, why open a second location only to phone it in? Expansion should mean excellence multiplied, not care divided. There are too many good places in Fredericksburg doing things right to settle for something half-hearted. This one wasn't terrible--it was worse. It was forgettable. And that's the real disappointment.

Right away, the service felt off. Our waitress didn't even ask if we wanted drinks before jumping straight to, "Are you ready to order food?" On top of that, there were so many flies inside that we were nonstop swatting them away. And to make matters worse, there was a bug in my drink when it was served to me. That was pretty much the final straw. Overall, a very forgettable and disappointing experience. We probably won't come again, and I would not recommend it.
