    Chicken fried steak was bomb!

Such a cool place! Great food, great service and a fun place to hang out. They do karaoke and the crowd is so friendly. We came here on vacation and had a great time.

We really enjoyed the outdoor atmosphere at Howdy's in Ingram. Great place to eat and enjoy the live music. We did not try the inside bar, but the restaurant / bar was busy on a Saturday night. The Howdy's Smash Burger with bacon and jalapenos was awesome. The service was excellent.

Criders rodeo got canceled, and we found this place! Great appetizers, pork belly was great, onion rings were at the top of their game, good nachos (could be more organized on the nacho stacking game), good chicken fried steak, good mashed potatoes, solid hamburger. Great band too! Awesome service!

Howdy's is one of my favorite places ever. My family and I try to go almost every Wednesday for karaoke. The dj is awesome, staff is great, and the food is always good and beer is always cold! After all the flooding they still celebrated the community and allowed people to have fun after all the devastation. Love this place

What a fantastic bar and restaurant! Very eclectic mix of a place. Off the beaten path it's got a roadhouse honkytonk feel. Creative bar stools, long solid bar. Massive patio. Live music Fri, Sat, and Sun. Can tell a lotta work put into it being a place to chill as the name says. Bathrooms were clean. Amstel on tap. LoneStar light bottle for me. Wife had a Bloody Mary. Ordered Brisket Bites which is a country fried brisket mix. Very good appetizer. Had Country Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and beans. Very tasty, hit the spot. Wife ordered Howdy Carnitas Tacos. She said they were very good. Talked to manager or owner, mentioned immediate family was military. So Will definitely be coming back! Love it!

Second time here and hubby got SAME dinner, a year later! Smoke pork chops are amazing! Green beans and bacon could be a meal in themselves, and the mashed potatoes were great too. The meatloaf was the best ever!!! And the Pecan Flan?????? To die for!!!! All homemade and from scratch. We will be back! Great ride destination on motorcycles.

    Steak trooper nachos pretty good.

Great location, very welcoming. Food is a hit or miss. Chicken fried steak was not tasty at all. Mash way to much salt. Beans were delicious. Pork belly bits 11 bucks for this small plate of meat not smoked it was just mediocre. Will return for music drinks and great service.

Nice bar/grill. Somewhat hidden but not difficult to find. Went in on karaoke night...was pretty cool. Bartender was friendly and attentive. Tried the Altstadt beer (local brew )...good taste. Went w the appetizers since we arrived somewhat late...hit the spot. Highly recommend...everyone is pretty friendly

We were attended to promptly and after reviewing the menu we placed our order. I ordered the Caesar salad with chicken and son ordered a ham and cheese sandwich. We watched some regulars come in and hug their favorite wait staffers (which seemed to be everyone on duty!) and check on other patrons to say hi before settling back at their table. The vibe was people on business lunches, retirees meeting up with friends, and a few tourists. I really loved the "homeyness" of watching everyone being familiar with the patrons and the overall friendly vibe. Our order arrived and I loved that the lettuce was cut into small bite size pieces rather than larger leaves which always look like someone grazing when eating off the fork. The bite size pieces were a nice surprise and also loved the grapefruit slice! I love grapefruit so this was so nice to see!! First bite was great! I tasted a hint of mustard in the dressing - not for sure if there was but it was a tangy change of the usual Caesar dressing. I liked it! I had as much as I could and my growing son finished it off for me after he finished his sandwich. I asked him about his sandwich and he said it was the best ham and cheese he's ever had! Hey...I said...what about mine!!?? Oh well. He loved the bread and the Swiss cheese. Different flavors for him and he approved. We didn't do dessert since we had shopping to do. We paid the bill and readied to leave. I noted to the lady group sitting next to us about one of the ladies purse. It was super cute and not the standard luxury fare. They were so friendly to my remark I swore if I commented more they would have told me to join them! Super friendly people, restaurant, and great food!! We'll have to try it again sometime after we try all the other restaurants in town!! You won't be disappointed if you try this place!!

The building itself was built in 1890 initially as a mercantile store, then cycled through a number of other businesses over the years until settling on Francisco's. Besides indoor tables, they also have a number of seating options outside on the sidewalk if the weather is agreeable. There isn't a river view, but it could be good people watching on a busy tourist day. The interior is a single space with high ceilings and tons of art on the walls. It's small but feels intimate not tight. I wouldn't call the place fine dining or upscale, but it's a step above casual. We were there for lunch and I felt fine in shorts and flip flops, but wonder if dinner is a different story. The lunch menu was mostly simple cafe sandwiches, salads, soups, and a couple different nachos/chips and salsa/chips and queso appetizer options. The Mexican food were primarily the daily specials the waitress rattled off for us. Speaking of, service was very friendly prompt, and helpful. Our waitress did a great job helping us figure out what we were in the mood for, offered substitutions and chatted us up on where we were from and what we were doing around town. Great staff. Overall if you're in town and looking for a sit down meal keep Francisco's on your list of options.

After three visits, I kept hoping things would improve--but it feels like this place is leaning more on its location than the actual dining experience. First off, the setting is awesome. You're literally right on the ramp watching planes come and go--it's a great vibe and honestly the main reason to visit. But beyond that, things start to fall off. Each time I've been here, they've seemed understaffed. It's a seat-yourself setup, but even after sitting down, service can be pretty slow. On more than one visit, parts of the menu weren't available, and on my last trip, the kitchen wasn't even taking breakfast orders because they were too backed up. Food has been inconsistent: * Breakfast tacos were just okay * Eggs came out overcooked when ordered over-easy * Grits were watery * Bacon and sausage didn't taste fresh On the most recent visit, we had to switch to lunch. The burger was average, and the wrap was oddly put together--very thick but not well balanced. Also, the sweet potato tots we ordered were swapped out for fries. I really want to like this place because the location is genuinely special. But right now, it feels like a spot you go to for the view, not the food. With better service and more consistency in the kitchen, this could be a standout.

The French toast with strawberries was outstanding--perfectly golden, light and fluffy, topped with fresh strawberries that made every bite delicious. The liver was tender and cooked perfectly, and the caramelized onions brought everything together. From the nostalgic tributes to Blue Bell, our armed forces, and the railroad, it felt like stepping back into a patriotic 1940s diner. The warm atmosphere and hometown feel made the experience just as memorable as the food. If you're craving a classic, no-frills breakfast, you won't be disappointed. I ordered the eggs and pork chops. The pork chops could have used just a touch more salt for my taste, but with a light sprinkle at the table, they were absolutely delicious. My daughter ordered the short stack, and those pancakes completely blew us away. They were hands down some of the best pancakes we've ever had and officially earned this diner my new favorite breakfast spot. It's very easy to miss while traveling down IH-35 S, because by the time you see the sign "diner", you have passed it by. Although all 7 of us have been right by this place many times over the years, this was a first time experience for the group. In fact, we all failed to realize the diner was even here, as it is also overshadowed by the adjacent service station. The consensus was this was quite the unexpected surprise and each person gave a huge thumbs up for their own meal choice. Personally, I went with the poblano chicken and it was the best I've ever had, which is saying a lot. I believe I ordered this same dish dozens of times in a 60 mile radius and what set it apart was the tasty creamy sauce on top of a very flavorful chicken. The chicken was prepared differently and not the usual stringy stands of breast meat used in other local taquerias. The other dishes from the group were street tacos, shrimp quesadillas, fajitas and even a few with breakfast entrees. We all agreed this place is now on our radar and we are all coming back. A few of the waitstaff did not speak English, which was OK, because a few in our group grew up in Mexico, so the transition was easy. It also gave that authentic feeling that we are in the right place. But please don't let the language gap discourage you because the other helpers spoke English well enough for even the gringos in our group got what they wanted. So owners of this restaurant keep doing what you are doing and if you want to be busting from the seams with business, stick a huge sign in a strategic place and be prepared for more great reviews.
