    Chocolate Chip Pancakes

Make sure you are hungry if you're going for breakfast. The portions are huge! I had eggs, sausage & chocolate chip pancakes. The pancakes (2 of them) were the size of a normal dinner plate. They had a good amount of chocolate chips inside (don't you hate when they skimp on chocolate chips? - not here!). The warm syrup was perfect. My husband had the bacon, eggs and biscuits and gravy. I've never seen biscuits so big! The only thing that would have made it better was if the gravy had sausage. Service was great. Food came out fast & hot, and our drinks were always full. If you sign up for their birthday club, this huge breakfast is free on your birthday. There were 5 birthdays being celebrated when we were there. Made it very festive! Don't let this place being in a truck stop keep you away. Good diner breakfast for a decent price.

Food 5 Ambience 3( no fault of black bear) I ordered chicken avocado club - delicious. Thick chicken slices and thick bacon. Ordered with fries and it was plenty with leftovers Husband ordered 2 eggs with spicy Italian sausage patty , potatoes and a biscuit . Sausage was great, mild spicy. Biscuit excellent. We went for an early lunch during the week and were seated by a man sitting by himself but talking nonstop to the family at another table.. was hoping for a nice relaxing meal but Gabby Gabriel Goat talked about his travel nurse wife, his kid with weird neck bones requiring surgery ( really he was loud). Then comes a guy sits alone and plays instagram reels LoUd!! With a lady screaming at the end of the reel over and over. People it's ok to have silence if you're alone. When I eat alone I prefer it! But Black Bear, great food, thanks!! I'll be back and I think I'll try the counter if no one is there.

Service was perfect and quick, but not rushed. Thanks Petra, such a bubbly & positive outlook. Tip: Join the birthday club...just do it, it's free. I went with the Bear's choice breakfast. It's two eggs, with choice of meats, plus choice of breads (I did the waffle!). The CHICKEN SAUSAGE were in huge links. The downside is that the line cook used batter that was too thick. The waffle was so dense, unlike fluffy ones elsewhere. Breakfast is served all day. It's located at the end of a truck stop, but it is not a truck stop type of restaurant. It was very clean. The restrooms are just outside by the Popeyes.

Breakfast jackpot! Food was AMAZING, if you haven't tried this place for breakfast, what are you waiting for!? The plates are huge and filled. Prices are unmatched with most breakfast places for the size of some items. Service was top notch and the ambiance took me back to the country, outdoors like and retro experience. I will definitely recommend and I will be taking the rest of my family.

Was given a nice GC for Christmas. Heard lots of positive reviews since their opening. Went in for breakfast on a Saturday, 10am. (They serve all day per the menu). Counter was empty, dining areas had lots of open seating. PLENTY of waitstaff and a host. Not busy at all. We were seated after a brief wait, our waitress appeared in about 5 mins. We ordered breakfast off the menu, nothing custom, tea and coffee. Twenty minute wait for food. Not much visible or audible kitchen activity, but a lot of people following a lady dressed for a party, in and out of the kitchen back and forth. (Manager?, franchisee?, celebrity? who knows). Anyway, the food finally arrived and it was cold. Sent it back, arrived in less than 10 minutes and it was warm at best. Not impressive for a slow time with oodles of waitstaff on the floor. Oh it gets better... We finished our "warm breakfast", went to exit and pay. The printed gift certificate caught them off guard. (this is a long established multi-state, multi-location, franchise, since the 1990's. Been open at this location a year at least.) The host AND manager could not fully process the certificate, could not give the remainder (less than 10 dollars) back in either: cash, or to the waitress as a tip even though the printed receipt allows for it. They were stunned to see this "rare species" in the wild. The comment made was "We've never seen these and are not sure how process them for a total redemption. Just leave a balance and no cash back or applied tip allowed". Absurd. Poorly trained staff in both kitchen execution and customer service. The franchisee probably rarely steps foot in the place and the management staff doesn't manage the FOH or BOH to any satisfactory degree on any level for a "sit down dining location". So, we're stuck with a balance on $50.00 GC, paid $40.00 for a cold, short-order breakfast for two. Being attached to a truck-stop, they probably do well by default. They also let visually able-bodied people in with emotional support animals. The truckers can have it.

Country fried steak, eggs and fruit

Went on a Monday morning to have breakfast with my kids. It wasn't packed, maybe about 4 other tables occupied. We were seated, looked over the menu and decided to get the Grizz which includes 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage links and ham and we also got the chicken fried steak. Both included a side of hash browns, red potatoes, grits or a side of fruits. We were informed they didn't have hash browns or pancakes so they subbed it for waffles and potatoes. The reason for my low review is due to our order taking 50 minutes from the time we put in our order. Considering it's just a simple diner, 50 minutes and not that many people there is a little excessive. If you're looking for a quick stop to eat, this isn't it. Our server did apologize and said they were backed up in the kitchen. Also, I wish we would've known ahead of time that they didn't have pancakes and hash browns. The food was average, nothing worth 50 minutes waiting for. 2 star because our server Betty was great. Very friendly, sweet and patient.

Cinnamon roll French toast, eggs over medium and sausage.

Got there right before a morning rush! Seated right away. Huge menu with lots to choose from but we came for breakfast. Hubs got eggs over easy, bacon, sweet cream pancakes and hash browns. I got mild sausage(not a fan), eggs over medium and cinnamon roll French toast. Our eggs were cooked perfectly! Pancakes were amazing! My cinnamon roll French toast was great but a little too much for me. I should have gone with regular French toast. Hash browns are cut thick and very good. You don't feel like you are in a truck stop but an actual diner. Place was clean and server, hostess and checkout were all pleasant. They only have Pepsi products so that was the saddest part for me. Diet Pepsi I not Diet Coke. Oh, I do love that they have "lighter" versions of all their foods at the bottom!!!

We were passing by the area and hear about this new resturaunt attached to the TA Gas station and wanted to give it a shot. The business was very easy to find and so much parking. Once arrived we were quickly greeted and seated. We loved the atmosphere of the diner. Bears everywhere! On the table, carvings of bears in the poles, bear curtains, EVERYTHING! We loved it. The menu was vast and we wanted to try everything. The server was very kind, and explained the menu to us. I ordered the Grizz which came with everything! And my girlfriend ordered the BIGFOOT Chicken fried Steak. The food came out fast, and it was delicious! So if you're driving around the area and need to fill up for gas and fill up for food, then I highly recommend this place.

The French toast with strawberries was outstanding--perfectly golden, light and fluffy, topped with fresh strawberries that made every bite delicious. It was easily one of the best breakfast dishes I've had in a long time. The liver and onions were just as impressive. The liver was tender and cooked perfectly, and the caramelized onions brought everything together. It's a classic dish that's hard to find done well these days, and Union Station absolutely gets it right. Great food, generous portions, friendly service, and that genuine small-town charm make this place something special. If you're looking for a local spot that serves quality home-style cooking with people who make you feel welcome, Union Station is well worth the visit. I'll definitely be back!

From the nostalgic tributes to Blue Bell, our armed forces, and the railroad, it felt like stepping back into a patriotic 1940s diner. The warm atmosphere and hometown feel made the experience just as memorable as the food. If you're craving a classic, no-frills breakfast, you won't be disappointed. I ordered the eggs and pork chops. The pork chops could have used just a touch more salt for my taste, but with a light sprinkle at the table, they were absolutely delicious. My daughter ordered the short stack, and those pancakes completely blew us away. They were hands down some of the best pancakes we've ever had and officially earned this diner my new favorite breakfast spot. For those who aren't in the mood for breakfast, they also offer a generous selection of lunch options. My husband ordered the Reuben and thoroughly enjoyed it. Overall, Union Station Diner delivers everything you'd hope for in a small-town diner: welcoming hospitality, comforting food, and a nostalgic atmosphere that makes you want to come back again. If you're passing through, it's absolutely worth the stop.

The food that we ordered was wonderful. I had the house smoked salmon with toast points and a poached egg. My wife had a slice of quiche, an orange muffin, and some fruit. The baby had a turkey sausage patty, one of my toast points, and some of my wife's fruit. Everyone was super friendly. The staff were wearing football jerseys to celebrate the Super Bowl. We took her up on the coffee, and before she came back, we decided what we wanted. We all ordered something completely different, and mine was one of their famous waffles. I also got a side of bacon. The food came pretty quickly considering how packed they were. All orders were just as ordered. My waffle came with syrup and butter on the side so that I could use as much/little as I wanted. Last night I finally brought my husband to try it after hyping it up for so long, and unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. Things have definitely changed. I was really looking forward to the chicken fried chicken, only to find out they were completely out of mashed potatoes. For a place known for chicken, that was surprising. So I ended up just sharing some of my husband's meal and our appetizer. The cornbread has always been something I rave about, especially with their hot honey. This time it came out dry, and the hot honey had no heat at all. It just was not the same. My husband's fried chicken was honestly the worst part. It was burnt, with a layer of black under the breading, and tasted like it had been overcooked to the point of being charred. There is no way the kitchen did not see how dark it was before serving it. That said, his sides were still great, so at least part of the meal was enjoyable. Our friend's chicken sandwich was not terrible, but it did not taste fresh like it used to. It felt more like something frozen and heavily breaded instead of the quality we had experienced before. One positive was the service. Our server was wonderful, and the rest of the staff was kind and attentive as well. I accidentally spilled my drink right after it arrived, and they were quick and gracious to replace it even though it was completely my fault. That was very much appreciated. The other issue that really took away from the experience was the atmosphere. Halfway through our meal, a large group of adults sat in the courtyard and had their children sit separately at a table right next to us, while their parents remained in another section of the patio. The kids were clearly having fun and playing games, which is great, but they were also very loud and screaming just a foot away from our table while their parents enjoyed quiet drinks elsewhere. There were completely open sections of the patio farther away where they could have sat, so it was frustrating that they were placed right next to the only other table of adults trying to enjoy a night out. It ended up being very disruptive and took away from what we had hoped would be a relaxing evening. Overall, I was really disappointed. This used to be a place I highly recommended, but after this visit it feels like the quality and attention to detail have slipped. I truly hope they can get back to what made them so great before.

Because of that, I've recently found myself searching for family-friendly restaurants with large outdoor areas. That way, if my little one gets fussy, I can walk around with him, and we're not stuck inside worrying about disturbing other diners. Freiheit Country Store was perfect for our needs. The outdoor area is large and spacious, and the overall atmosphere is very family-friendly. It has a relaxed vibe that feels just right for families with young children. One small observation: I do wish some parents paid a little more attention to their kids. It had recently rained, and a boy was throwing rocks into a puddle, causing water and mud to splash onto my husband's back. We politely asked him to stop, but he continued, and we couldn't spot a parent nearby. As for the food, it was served quickly, arrived hot, and tasted great. No complaints there. My husband also appreciated the simple and efficient ordering process. Overall, this is a great spot to grab a bite to eat, enjoy a cold beer, and relax in a family-friendly environment. We'll definitely be back
