The hubs and I decided to try Aumonts for lunch. He got a bbq bacon cheeseburger and I got a 1916 burger. Both were very good, juicy and tasty. The owner and employees are friendly and the ambiance was fun. I'm thinking we'll be back!

Burger has real and great char, fully melted cheese, grilled bun and perfectly prepped fix-ins. What could be better! Well the hot O rings kept their crisp, and after slightly cooled, cut completely for perfect dipping before that crunch-a-munch!!! I also like that the Rose room would be great for private gatherings. The history of the place exudes from every inch.

I have passed by this establishment various times, but today I decided to check it out. The exterior is a grand old building, but with a good charm to it. You walk in and that unique charm flows on the inside, plenty of seats at the bar area and even more in the restaurant area. As you enter I was warmly welcomed by the young lady at the bar, she mentioned that the orders were being taken at the bar. She was very nice and helpful in choosing the best option for lunch. So as far as the food, I ordered the bacon barbecue hamburger with fries. The burger was delicious the bacon cooked to perfection just the right amount of crunchiness and the fries, I'm not sure what seasoning they used but they were very delectable and crunchy too. Overall the: "1916" is a good addition if you want to hangout with some friends and catch the game while enjoying a good beverage or sit on the other side and enjoy a great meal with family and friends, either way you'll enjoy this place.

Well another hill country adventure with a delicious end to the day. We ended up in Seguin and found another delicious place to eat. If you are in the mood for a dynamite burger just belly up to the bar. My blue burger was the best burger I have had in a long time! It was so well seasoned and everything was so fresh. And my GF burger was great. From the bun to the mushrooms, bacon, Pattie, blue cheese and veggies I was in heaven. And to top it off with some great tots and a yummy mule, what more can a girl ask for? The kids gave 2 thumbs up for their sliders and fries. The hubs was awfully quiet while eating his cheeseburger... that is a good sign. Such a cool vibe inside and the staff and locals were not nice. I took their advice and walked around to look at the Rose dining room. Such a cool spot, we will be back for sure. I want to come back and try some of the other sandwiches.

Blue cheese burger was thick, hot and delicious! So many burgers are not cooked perfectly but this was absolutely perfect!

Food? amazing! Service? Amazing! Ambiance exactly what you want in a bar named 1916. The staff were great to talk about the different beers and foods they have. We stayed probably an hour and a half just enjoying the people.

The staff is super nice! The food is okay, the burger tastes like the patty was frozen but it was alright. I may come back and try something else when I'm in town again.

It was made possible by the Second Baptist Church. It was called Abraham Lincoln School. In 1892 the school became part of the Seguin public school system. In 1925 the name was changed to Ball High School after its first principal and one of the founders. The school ceased being segregated in 1966. There is a sports bar here called Seguin Schoolyard (opened in 2024). However, the entire grounds are also known as the Seguin Schoolyard as they are an extension of the bar. This review is for everything because it's a really cool concept. There is a huge outdoor area with a stage that is kinda sorta giving Luckenbach vibes. Lots of covered and uncovered seating featuring picnic tables and deck chairs. A great outdoor stage for local and national performers. The outdoor space also has an outdoor bar for concerts. The grounds are lined with several businesses including a bakery, hair salon, art center for kids, cheesesteak shop, the namesake bar, shops, and more. What a great addition to Seguin! Heck, Paul Wall will be performing there in November 2025. The (indoor) bar itself is spacious and comfortable with bar seating as well as living area-style seating. The staff are super fun, friendly, and attentive. Family, kid, & pet-friendly.

There is really only two choices, a mac and cheese place and Mikey's Cheesesteaks which I will review separately. Definitely need more options, not sure if they have food trucks in the summer or not, but need more. Let's skip to the best attribute, the ambiance. Love the old elementary school layout, with the courtyard and various little businesses in the old classrooms. The bar is in what I assume was the old cafeteria, which was roomy with various seating options. There was a couple guitar players playing which was nice, and prices were reasonable. Now the low point. The afternoon bartender couldn't wait to get out of there fast enough. We asked for the game outside on the big TV as there was nobody there but us. She told us to ask the night bartender as she was about to leave (not sure why that was important and she was there another 15 minutes before relief arrived), but we had almost an hour so we got our drinks and sat down. After shift change we ordered round two and asked for the outdoor TV as instructed, but in the meantime someone had asked for the basketball game so we got a TV near us in the bar. Whomever had requested the outdoor TV didn't even make it to halftime of there game, but by then I didn't feel like moving. Great history, great idea, just lacking in execution at this point. I hope things work out.

It has a classy, tasteful speakeasy vibe without feeling overdone or pretentious. They also have a private room that would be great for a special group gathering or a more intimate celebration. The grand piano in the room adds a really elegant touch and makes the space feel even more elevated. We went on a Monday night, so it's hard to say what the normal energy is like on a busier evening, but the overall atmosphere was still very pleasant. Service was friendly and attentive, which I appreciated. The only thing I would have loved was a little more creativity or guidance with the cocktails. The space gives the impression that you're about to get a true mixologist-style experience, but the recommendations we received were pretty standard, like Old Fashioneds and martinis. We were hoping for something a little more unique or original, maybe a twist on a Sidecar or an elevated take on a classic Old Fashioned. That said, it's still a beautiful spot with great ambience, pleasant service, and a very nice overall feel. I would definitely go back, especially on a busier night to see the full vibe.

You go way to the back and down a steep flight of stairs. My son, his wife, and I left my wife and grandbaby in the saloon and headed down. When you get down there, you are suddenly in a beautiful Tiki bar with so many amazing things to gawk at. It sort of felt like waking up in OZ. We were the first people there, so we got to sit at the bar and watch our drinks being made. They have about 15 or so different specialty tiki drinks. Each one comes in a particular piece of glassware. I don't know how the bartender keeps them straight. He was constantly pouring different things into a shaker. Then he would shake it and pour it into the glass that was already filled with crushed ice. One of the drinks even had a smoking cinnamon stick. My drink was really good. It was the Three Dots and a Dash. It came in a barrel and was decorated with a skull toothpick that had three cherries and a piece of pineapple to represent the dots and dash. It was super strong! I was ready to risk it all and go for another drink, but it had gotten packed inside the bar. We could tell the bartender was stressing. They really need two for times like that. My wife spends the night at my son's house in New Braunfels every Thursday to give them a date night. Evidently, this is where they always go. I can certainly see why!
