Wow! What a nice find! Upon walking in I was pleasantly greeted by the bartender and a gentleman (handsome at that) who I presume is the manager. I love the atmosphere and can see why it has a high rating and a local favorite. I ordered the cheesecake the chicken pot pie soup. That burger was so good, I had ate half of it before I realized I didn't put any condiments on it lol. The pot pie was velvety smooth and had just the right seasoning. If you're in the area, I highly recommend this place. They also serve breakfast starting at 8AM. read more

Good afternoon, My wife and I have lived in Seguin for a little over a year now. We definitely love the small town vibe and everyone we've met has had nothing but positive feedback about our city. Unfortunately this Mother's Day took a turn for the worst right after church. My wife and I decided to stop by after church for breakfast not realizing a reservation may have been required.   Vanessa was able to accommodate us with a table and was quick serving us our coffee. Upon asking questions about the menu, her answers were condescending and short.  Throughout our visit, we watched her help other customers and noticed her bad attitude worsening.  A short time later, a family walked in without a reservation and when asked how many in his party, Vanessa became upset. Soon after, she placed her hand in the customer's face and told them they couldn't be served. No apology was given nor empathy. This is definitely not the way to promote or support downtown businesses. The family had no choice but to leave despite saying they come every weekend. After 3 cups of coffee she reassured us our order was coming out soon so we waited. We noticed other customers arriving after us were getting their orders served and we had nothing after waiting an hour we realized something was wrong. We decided to let Vanessa know we were leaving and would only be paying for the coffee and that's when she asked us who took our order. Pretending not to know we told her she did. She decided to walk away and returned a few minutes later just to let us know she never turned in our order and that was totally unacceptable. We decided not give her any pushback being that we had just attended church. We completely understand that some jobs do require you to work holidays and people should come to terms with that in order to make money but do not take it out on the paying  customers. I hope this email will provide some additional insight on treating your customers just like you would like to be treated while visiting a place of business. read more

Burger has real and great char, fully melted cheese, grilled bun and perfectly prepped fix-ins. What could be better! Well the hot O rings kept their crisp, and after slightly cooled, cut completely for perfect dipping before that crunch-a-munch!!! I have passed by this establishment various times, but today I decided to check it out. The exterior is a grand old building, but with a good charm to it. You walk in and that unique charm flows on the inside, plenty of seats at the bar area and even more in the restaurant area. As you enter I was warmly welcomed by the young lady at the bar, she mentioned that the orders were being taken at the bar. She was very nice and helpful in choosing the best option for lunch. So as far as the food, I ordered the bacon barbecue hamburger with fries. The burger was delicious the bacon cooked to perfection just the right amount of crunchiness and the fries, I'm not sure what seasoning they used but they were very delectable and crunchy too. Overall the: "1916" is a good addition if you want to hangout with some friends and catch the game while enjoying a good beverage or sit on the other side and enjoy a great meal with family and friends, either way you'll enjoy this place. read more

Well another hill country adventure with a delicious end to the day. We ended up in Seguin and found another delicious place to eat. If you are in the mood for a dynamite burger just belly up to the bar. My blue burger was the best burger I have had in a long time! It was so well seasoned and everything was so fresh. And my GF burger was great. From the bun to the mushrooms, bacon, Pattie, blue cheese and veggies I was in heaven. And to top it off with some great tots and a yummy mule, what more can a girl ask for? The kids gave 2 thumbs up for their sliders and fries. The hubs was awfully quiet while eating his cheeseburger... that is a good sign. Such a cool vibe inside and the staff and locals were not nice. I took their advice and walked around to look at the Rose dining room. Such a cool spot, we will be back for sure. I want to come back and try some of the other sandwiches. read more

The waitress and bartender welcomed us as we walked in. There areTVs playing sports and tables filled with friends sharing stories. I had the burger with onion rings and we shared the spinach dip both were fantastic. My husband chose the burrito bowl with steak and was not disappointed. We ate there twice before the second opening. This time it was a big improvement! I've always loved the ambience here. It reminds me of the 1920 places my Grandparents took me to. The lunch crowd has to order food from the bar (noisy) and you can eat in the bar or go into an adjacent old hotel lobby area for seating. There as an available formal area for later dining. The food has definitely improved since we were last here. It wouldn't take much to spruce up the place. With a little effort it wouldn't be difficult to imagine Al Capone and his entourage barging through the hotel lobby of this century old hotel. Enjoy, my friends! read more

Our new go to! Absolutely loved the food. A great menu/ something for everyone choice. Ambiance in barroom was football !!! Lots of people having a great time. We sat in the side area. Perfect for anytime of the day. Very relaxed area. I could see a wedding or party uding that area and upstairs room. Differently a hidden gem in Seguin. Only thing and restaurant could not really help it was the children running around upstairs/ making lots of noise. read more

The Bleu burger was one of the best ever. The 1916 burger is just freaking wow! For an appetizer the pulled pork nachos are excellent with generous portions - definitely shareable - with just enough of a spice hint to be interesting. It's a must stop kind of place. Just came by on a whim looking to get a beer and food with my wife on a Tuesday night. Beer was cheap so that was good and wings were delicious. The bartender makes good drinks, properly. We ordered a Bloody Mary and an Old Fashioned. A fellow patron sitting at the bar, "That's a lot of work for a little drink," referring to the Old Fashioned, but worth it. Unfortunately there was a smell of old, used washcloths. OMG. So good. Been here before for the beer and ambiance but tried their burgers this time. OMG. So good! So get this... for starters, the patty was bigger than the bun, which you rarely find. Juicy with super fresh veggies and pretty much as good a burger you can get. In the same class as Five Guys. Fries, superb... but the tots. Oh the tots; more like homemade vs. the fast food frozen ones. And for the finale? Absolute best jalapeno poppers this native Texan has had. Perfect, simply perfect. We stopped in for a bite after a Baseball tournament at TLU, on a Sunday at 6pm. The bartender and the cook, were the only staff there, handling the pretty busy crowd very well. They were super friendly, sweet and accommodating. At the bar, it looked like a local crowd, who were having fun and were very welcoming. You order food at the bar. The menu was pretty varied, for bar food. It was delicious and well prepared. The salads were actual salads, fresh and made to order (not just iceberg). The buns of my chicken sandwich and the sliders were gourmet and toasted to perfection. We will definitely be coming back when we are ever in the area. read more
