My favorite bar in Gruene. Simple, fast and affordable. Great service. Strong drinks. The hot dog is my favorite, then the Reuben. And panko chicken pasta... very cool scenery and ambiance too. Quick turn around read more

Mozie’s - food was delicious had so much that I got to take some home for dinner - American Near Me - New Braunfels, Texas

First time at Mozie's for dinner and loved the menu choices!! Our table of six all got something different and everyone enjoyed their plates! I had the anticuchos pasta plate and it was amazing. Meat was seasoned and cooked very well. The pasta was light and refreshing. Our server was friendly and efficient! I wish I knew her name to call her out. It was loud in the dining room and a little crowded. Knowing that going in, it's not horrible. Will definitely be back!! read more

After about a two year hiatus from this place since they were so disorganized, it's come back! The building feels a lot brighter inside, so I'm not sure if they added more lighting or what. They did add a second section of draft beer! The service is phenomenal as all the waitstaff and bartender were very attentive and quick. The kitchen finally got their timing down and the food came out within a normal time range. I am happy my husband and I can start coming back here since things have improved. To be noted- the prices have gone up significantly ($9 for a draft beer!). read more

Mozie’s - Cheese Nachos with Jalapeño and Carrots! - American Near Me - New Braunfels, Texas

I honestly don't even know where to start with this plate. This is supposed to be a top destination in a tourist town, but this is easily the worst food in all of Gruene. First off, they used un-melted, thick slices of yellow cheese slapped over the top like an afterthought instead of actual melted cheese or queso. Underneath that rubbery layer was completely unseasoned ground beef that had zero flavor. To make matters worse, there was no sour cream or salsa anywhere on the plate, but somehow there were pickled carrots tossed onto nachos? Who puts carrots on nachos?! And at the very bottom, a long dark hair. We pointed it out to the server who just whisked the plate away without even an apology. There is nothing an owner can say in response to this review that will fix or excuse this experience. The kitchen needs to take a serious look at overhauling these menu items and genuinely start caring about producing better food. It was completely flavorless, poorly executed, and frankly disgusting. Save your money and eat anywhere else. read more

On this days adventure I find myself in Gruene, at a place I haven't tried before at which I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant that caught my attention in a good way was "Mozies". To begin with, like most places in Gruene parking can be an experience in itself, but if you're fortunate enough you'll find one close by. As you enter the establishment you notice it's quite narrow but it has plenty of seating including the bar area. Got our seats and was treated very kindly by our server, I wish I could remember her name but it was on a Sunday and she was very delightful and helpful. So if you visit hopefully you have the opportunity for her to help you out, she was quite lovely. But let's continue to the most important part of any restaurant, the food. To begin our journey I started with some "Onion Rings" which were very delicious, lightly battered and seasoned just right, a very good starter. Then I chose something I haven't had in a while, "Fish Tacos". Believe me they were extremely delicious, grilled fish paired with an avocado and a wonderful sauce to complement the flavor of the fish. They are a wonderful choice if looking for something different. Overall Mozie's is another good option in the Gruene area. read more

I've been continuing to enjoy their grown-up grilled cheese and lavender lemonade over the last 2 years since my initial review. 5 stars now as I'm over the claustrophobia (just go when it's not crazy busy). The cocktails and food are consistently great and we love when Kasey is our bartender. She is the best and takes wonderful care of us! read more

I went here for lunch with a few friends. Somehow, despite numerous visits to Gruene over the years, I never stopped into this restaurant. It has a really vibrant vibe and the service was just wonderful. I ordered the turkey sandwich and it was pretty good. The fries that were already on the table when I arrived were just addictive! My friends also were all having (or getting ready to have) the lemon drop Martini. I have never had a martini but this one was really, really good. We all had a great time hanging out here for lunch before doing some shopping. read more

Recommended by family so stopped in for lunch. Narrow dining room, sort of odd set up. Seated ourselves and we're not greeted for a good 10 mins. There were 3-4 servers standing around at the end of the aisle towards the restrooms. There was one server handling 90% of the tables but no one thought that maybe one of those standing around should take a table not in the section. Ordered the nachos and pickle/jalapeño combo. Nachos came out and looked weird but they were great. Pickles and jalapeños were good too but jalapeños way better. Decent lunch but they need to work on service. read more

The service was great and the food was delicious! Highly recommend the meatballs! They were scrumptious We also had the guacamole and jalapeño pimento cheese that came with the freshest chips we've had the pleasure of tasting in a long time! The meatballs came with a slice of sourdough maybe not sure but toasted and extra crunchy so I paired it with my pimento and it was really tasty. It was very just and too loud for me but that's a good thing for their business! read more

Today I had the panini and my wife had the Ruben. We split each one, getting half of each, still a full sandwich. The sandwiches come with thin fries, homemade potato chips, & one other choice. We did the same with our sandwiches and spilt the sides. It was all DELISH! Oops, we also had nachos as an appetizer. They were prepared proper, with cheddar cheese, not the processed American cheese some use. These were also great, and topped with jalapeños. I ordered the guacamole topping, which I recommend. It was COLD outside, & their coffee was hot & fresh, as it's supposed to be. Completely 5-star! read more

Moses is a long but small bar/grill. They serve absolutely wonderful food that is fresh made to order. I've been here once or twice before this time I decided to try the fish tacos, and I also ordered an espresso martini with Bailey's. My espresso martini was cold, very tasty, creamy and chocolatey, and had a rim of chocolate and sugar. It was absolutely delicious for lunch. I ordered the fish tacos. You get a plate of three fish and veggie filled corn tortillas! It's definitely a wonderful go to dish especially if you're watching your carbs. I only ate one of my corn tortillas but ate the inside of all three and did not feel guilty afterwards. We did order one humongous slice of strawberry cake with buttercream and it was absolutely amazing. The layers are filled with strawberry filling and buttercream. We were in a large party of 10 so we each took a fork and took a stab at the cake some of us even got more than one bite. It was absolutely fantastic very fresh, moist, and just the right amount of sweetness. The service was very quick and they were friendly. Please give them a try. You will not be disappointed in anything that you order. Everything I've ever tried. Here is absolutely fantastic. (onion rings, nachos, chicken, salad, etc..). read more

Yummy! First time here and I've been coming to Gruene forever! My bad. I had the tenderloin pasta, so good! My husband had a burger that he enjoyed. They didn't have a kids menu which is why I gave 4 stars BUT our server suggested a breaded piece of chicken with a side of pasta and we chose marinara for her sauce. Big serving for a kid but so good!! The drinks were good also, I had the spicy marg and my husband got a Bloody Mary - that came with a whole beer! That was a first. Definitely will be back. read more

As residents of Gruene for seven years, we have eaten at every local restaurant more times than we can even recall. My favorite dish for most of our time here has been The Panko Chicken Pasta from Mozie's. Over the last 2-3yrs it has too often been a sad disappointment. I don't know much about the restaurant business, but this dish is AMAZING when done well, and tragically disappointing when it is not. It was so frequently bad over the last two years that I stopped ordering it. Recently my husband brought me leftovers, and it was delicious, so tonight we splurged and ordered to-go. Again the chicken was over-cooked and dry, the pasta sauce was watery and flavorless, with three small strips of red bell pepper, and it seems like they mixed an entire salad of lettuce and tomato into the dish. We want to love Mozie's again, but the inconsistency from their kitchen is a deal-breaker. read more

Their sliders and onion rings are amazing! Bartenders and servers are always friendly.

Lunch on a Monday was to my surprise very busy in downtown Gruene. I guess since the summer months are approaching this makes sense. This restaurant isn't very large, so keep in mind that probably on the weekends there may be a wait. I started off with a Spicy Bloody Mary. It wasn't spicy at all, but had good flavor and thick consistency. Definitely order some chips. They must make them in house. Very crispy and thick so they don't break when you are trying to dip into the pimento cheese spread. The Steak Chimichurri came with a house salad and onion rings. I subbed out the onion rings for garlic fries. I think it was maybe $1.50 more. The Garlic Fries are a must try. Large portions of fries and salad. The Steak it self was not bad, but I was hoping it to be a bit more tender and juicer. I ordered it medium rare and it wasn't a buttery cut with my knife as I had hoped, but it still had good flavor. Our waitress was very sweet and helpful. I'll be back when in town to try out a few more items! read more

A great place to stop while wandering the wineries in the area. I came with my friends and we had an excellent experience. The food is good quality and porion for the price and the staff are very friendly. I got the chicken salad sandwich and it was delicious! It has a smoky flavor and is well-balanced. The fresh bread is also a plus. The building is very old and interesting to look at. My friends and I will keep this place in mind when we return to the area! read more

This was my first visit to New Braunfels and my friends took me to Mozie's. It is a quaint place that serves the bar crowd and those looking for some tasty food. Their decor is rustic and the overall look is cute. I shared the chips and salsa, as well as the meatballs. The salad someone had look delish and I will have to order that next visit. We had a party of eight this night and a baby in a stroller. The only reason I'm downgrading to four stars was the attitude from one of their servers who complained when we pushed three tables together to accommodate our large party. They were not busy at this time. Our actual server was awesome and very friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend mozing on down to Mozie's when you are in town. read more

Another great meal at Mozies. Happy hour $1 off all drinks. Tried meatball sandwich it was good, but wouldn't be at the top of my list of Mozies offerings. Really , sign up on Gruene website to get the BOGO email that comes quarterly ( and you do have to show it on your phone) 2 sandwiches, 4 drinks (2 beers,2 mixed drinks) less than $40. Of course add the cost of the free meal and tip accordingly read more

Jeff was managing tonight. He turned the television off 20+ minutes early right after we ordered. And when we questioned him about it he acted like he couldn't be bothered. I'm a local - go there 1/month or so. Took friends from out of state for dinner Friday nite. Plate gets spilled on one of our guests. It happens. And not a small issue - she's covered from chest to below lap. You'd think it worthy of at least a "sorry". Nope. Staff brought lots of napkins. No free drink, no taking it off the tab until I asked if they seriously weren't removing it. They did. The drinks are good- but they'll be all I ever go back for. Food is only intermittently good anyway. read more

First, thank you Kat for making our experience wonderful. It was icy cold outside on January 24th, and she made us fell warm. The bean and cheese nachos for starters were very good. The wife and I arrived on a Wednesday afternoon and looked around for something interesting. We saw Mozie's describing "New American Cuisine", so we thought why not. So, basically a loud sports bar with greasy bar food, watered down ice tea, and really not too much positive to say. Its a slim long local where the acoustics of the place make it loud. Loud enough to where even when no one is talking you cannot understand the lyrics of the songs other than the melody. The Menu promotes Shiner Bock onion rings, umm,...try "onion strings" ...heavy on strings as they pretty much bread. I order the Chimichurri Medallions well done. Ummm,..see for urself, plus Chimichurri sauce was sub par, no tang and meat had no flavor. The garlic toast was hard and crunchy, and the fries were "chewy" and cold, with a side of oil. Overall NOT worth the $30+ / plate price. Will not be making a return visit. read more

Mozie’s - Food we left on table cuz, yeah NOT good. - American Near Me - New Braunfels, Texas

We had the best time here. The restaurant/bar is super cool. We sat at the bar and Madde' was our server. I had a pomegranate martini that was made to perfection, not super sweet, not too tart. I ordered the panko chicken sandwich. It was super good. my husband ordered the meatball sub with a wedge salad, which was really good also. Claire was behind the bar also. Both ladies were very attentive and a lot of fun to talk to and watch make drinks. Tim stopped by to check on your visit, he has some great stories about Gruene Hall and the area. I highly recommend and will definitely be going back when we are back in NB mid December. read more

When we come to Gruene, we come to Mozie's. In the heart of downtown -- Gruene Hall is catty corner. The service is spot on with good food and atmosphere. If you are looking for quiet, this will likely not be the place on the weekend. We've talked to many locals that recommend and go to Mozie's as well as the location makes it a draw. Prices are very reasonably priced and plentiful. The double dip appetizer jalapeño pimento cheese is off the charts good. They also have things like Shiner Back onion rings (great!) , wings, fish tacos, steak, sliders, sandwiches, & salads --with an amazing cob salad. Give them a try, I think you'll be glad you did. read more

Went to sit at the table near the bar. Bartender told us that we had to wait on a server for drinks and we waited over 20 minutes without a server coming to our table.
