Had the privilege of eating here a few times since the opening of the renovated and beautiful Faust Hotel! Chef Adam is bringing a whole new menu and flare to New Braunfels. So far everything I've eaten there has been wonderful and my favorite drink is the Ghost Pepper Margarita!! So spicy but so good! The staff is nothing short of amazing...if you ever get Lori as your server, just know you are in GREAT hands! Love the history and back stories of all the artwork around the restaurant but also the hotel. The rabbit pie is to die for, shrimp and oysters are amazing, and the desserts are always exciting! As good as the food and drinks are, the people are what brings me coming back for more!

This was our first time trying this spot and it was such a treat! The drinks are also unique and delicious. When you order anything off the menu, it's not like what you're normally used to so keep that in mind. They do a different take on things, lots of unique, cooking styles, and flavor profiles. The place is studying as well. Lots of art everywhere and you can take a toward the hotel right after. Service was great, everyone was so kind and attentive. You can't go wrong with anything you get!

Love, love, love this new spot. Happy to add it to our downtown date night rotation. Beautiful renovations- the new look is spectacular. Cocktails were great, we started with the Beef Tartare and paired it with a Cucumber Orchid Martini and the Avocado Margarita. Our service was fantastic- just the right amount of attentive. I had the Mussels with Focaccia paired with a nice glass of wine and my husband had the Rabbit Pie and opted for the Ballroom Daisy. We didn't have room for dessert but will try in the future. Can't wait to sample other things on the menu. An elevated yet still comfortable vibe.

Prices? I don't see prices on the menu online. Are they on the menu in the restaurant?

This place has truly mastered the art of great food, amazing service, and unforgettable views. Yes, there's usually a line, but don't let that scare you away! The staff greets you with a smile the moment you arrive, and before you know it, you're soaking up the atmosphere. Grab a drink, enjoy the live music, or take a stroll around the beautiful grounds while you wait. Trust me, the time flies! Once you're seated, you're treated to one of the most gorgeous views of the old mill. It's one of those places where you can't help but pause and appreciate the scenery before diving into the menu. Our waitress was incredibly sweet and attentive, making the whole experience even better. We ordered the burger and my forever favorite, the Chicken Acapulco. If you've never had it, do yourself a favor and order it! The chicken is always perfectly cooked juicy, and the pico de gallo is hands down the best I've ever had it's so fresh, juicy, and bursting with flavor. Even the green beans deserve a shout out because they're absolutely delicious! And let's not forget the drinks... their Bloody Mary is fantastic! Pair that with the breathtaking river views, live music, and the rich history that surrounds you, and you've got the perfect Texas dining experience. The Gristmill isn't just a restaurant, it's a tradition. Great food, wonderful people, stunning scenery, and a little slice of Texas history all wrapped into one. It's been one of my favorite spots for over two decades, and it never, ever disappoints. If you're anywhere near Gruene, don't miss it!

The area is quite spacious - with 3 main areas for dining, and its own parking lot which is fantastic. Even though I was tempted for a good time going in the evening --- or even the weekend --- I had a bunch of errands today and chose rather to go for breakfast when the amount of people is few and the environment is just overall more relaxed. I'm glad I did. For my meal I ordered just one thing the Bauern Schnitzel. This dish is described as a "breakfast specialty featuring a hand-breaded pork schnitzel topped with two eggs and hollandaise sauce. This German-Texan fusion dish is served daily during morning hours and comes with a biscuit alongside your choice of home fries, hash browns, grits, or black beans." Within minutes of my order being placed, my food came out in about 5 minutes -- not too shabby! As you can see from the photo, it looked very appealing. How was the taste? Simply filling and comforting. It was rich, stick to your bones grub that you want every so often. Hash browns were crisp, and the schnitzel was fried perfectly and topped with my over easy eggs. Everything simply worked in unison for a flavorful combination. The biscuit was also something to mention. It was homemade, fluffy, and not dry whatsoever! If I weren't such an introvert, I'd love to visit in the evenings --- as fun as this experience was this morning. The space is beautiful and definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
