This restaurant has a nice exterior appeal, and it was easy to make a reservation online. At the time we went, there was ample parking. The hostess was pleasant, we had reservations, and we were promptly seated. The server was very kind, but she didn't know the menu. We had two simple questions about the menu and each time she had to leave to ask someone else. Perhaps the waitstaff can have the servers actually taste the food beforehand (?). We felt that the food was pricey for what we received. To compare restaurants, I normally look at a simple grilled chicken breast. If it's cooked properly, that's how I judge prices. Here the chicken breast is $26.00. That's high compared to other casual restaurants, which this is. After all, there are wooden picnic tables outside. We each started out with the ceviche. It had only fish, no other seafood, and was very skimpy. It came out in a small happy hour dish and was akin to SOUP, more broth than substance. It was so disappointing. I've not had ceviche like this before, nor do I ever want it this way again. The chips that came with it were listed as house made, but they had no taste. The chips our friends ordered with their queso tasted better, but still tasted bagged. I tasted the queso they had and it was bland, and was like processed cheese. Our group of six didn't even finish it. Yuk. My drink was very good though. I had the Wimberly Midnight Coffee which I highly recommend, except it was in an extremely small glass. My entree was the Gulf Snapper. The fish was very pleasant, accompanied with three grilled shrimp. It is definitely NOT shareable and was $32., probably in the right range, but the potatoes that came with it weren't even warm, and tasted like they were instant. They literally were unseasoned and had no taste. The asparagus was properly al-a-dente, but there weren't many on the order. We will not be returning. read more

This is a really cool and fun spot- and I know they are new so I am giving grace- but services was not great. There were people getting up and leaving because they were just never helped or it was so far in between that they got frustrated and bailed. I tried to order the chicken salad sandwich and they were out. When we initially ordered a beer off the menu the bartender said he didn't even know if they had that beer and had to double check. One set of people with a small child were told the bar area was 21 and up while another child went up and down the stairs alone and was running all around the bar area-- you definitely need signs and for people to enforce that it is 21+ no children upstairs. That all being said- I know it's new and will take time- but they need several people helping upstairs when it gets busy. I thought the food was good- a bit pricey- but tasted good. The ahi tuna Asian salad was amazing- I ate every last morsel. My husband loved his burger and fries. We will be back! read more

Been here for cocktails many times and finally had opportunity to it's to eat. Started with chips and queso for appetizer and everyone enjoyed it. Some of my guests got the gumbo and raved about it. My aunt had the fried fish and shrimp, and raved about the size of her shrimp. I had the Asian salad with seared tuna. The Tuna was perfectly seared on the outside. The chocolate torte (GF) and carrot cakes were delightful. Our server was super nice and attentive. Will definitely keep bringing guests here as they enjoyed their meals and atmosphere. read more

Was honestly impressed. Being from Newport Beach, this place hits the spot. Ceviche was delicious and drinks were refreshing. While boasting amazing views, thoughtful decor, and a playground spacious for kids of all ages. The high quality service caught me by surprise as well (hard to find in TX). (4.5/5) Stopped by Honeysuckle on FM 306 today right before they opened (highly recommend doing that to beat the Sunday rush). First impression--this place has one of the best views around. The upstairs open-air bar overlooks the Devil's Backbone, and it's hard to beat. Food overall was strong. I had the Chicken Fried Steak--hand battered, good crust, tender meat. Sides (green beans and mashed potatoes) came out cold, and the gravy was just okay, but I'd still order it again. My wife got the smash burger and loved it--great flavor, fresh toppings, and solid fries. Fried green tomatoes were the standout--10/10. Perfect batter and seasoning. Drinks were solid. Bloody Mary was simple but good, and the Honey Drop was a hit. Service was great for a place that's only been open a couple weeks--friendly, attentive, and Trevor did a great job taking care of us. Atmosphere is where they really shine. The upstairs deck and outdoor area are perfect, especially for families. We'll definitely be back with the grandkids. Bottom line: Great start for a new spot. A few small kinks to work out, but absolutely worth checking out--just give them a little grace while they get dialed in. read more

Atmosphere and service were A plus. Ceviche made from white fish ok. But like more variety - shrimp more herbs and spices. Chick en fried steak was great along with the greens beans and mashed potatoes. Nice bar area and good variety of drinks. We had margaritas which were flavorful and not to strong. The food and service was ok. But discovered later that we had paid for someone else's ticket. My husband has a bad habit of not looking and signing the check. I tried to call the next two days but they were closed. So it was $300 and it should have been maybe $175 to $200 at the most. We won't be back unfortunately. Visiting from out of town so was unsure about how long wait times and service would be after seeing reviews. I decided to still stop on in and hoped for a couple of seats at the bar so we didn't wait long for a table. The place was insanely packed and bartenders seemed very overwhelmed and busy. It did take a min to get acknowledged but it was very understandable after seeing how busy they were. We were told we would be helped shortly which we were completely fine with. Shout out to Reed the bartender, he is the 1 who stepped in and helped us and made our visit totally worth it!!! No matter how busy that bar was he made sure we were good the entire time despite running around and how busy he seemed to have been he just did an all around amazing job. The drinks were 10/10! I had a "man espresso" (best ever) and a honeysuckle drink. I wish i had remembered the exact name. Very well made. Food was also amazing except 1 hiccup, my shrimp was undercooked and I did bring it to their attention and the bartender did let which who I believe would have been manager know and she was willing to fix the whole meal again. I didn't want them to have go through the trouble to remake it, they just took shrimp off order. Service was impeccable I would say. I was a little worried when I first walked into Honeysuckle. The fragrance in the entryway is very strong, busy since my party sat outside it wasn't an issue. Our waiter was friendly and I was seriously impressed with his memory skills considering we had a party of 9 the bartender got my neon moon mojito perfectly made. I haven't had a mojito that good in a few years so THANK YOU for being a great bartender. The food was really good, very large portions and very tasty. I would have done a 5 star but the non alcohol plastic cups were kind of disgusting. There were finger prints, lip prints and other smudges on the rims of each cup. Besides that the area was fantastic, I really liked the view, what a beautiful location. read more

This place is amazing!! It's on FM 32 on the most scenic road in the area. We came for an early lunch, so not crowded. We took a walk around the great outdoors space with band stand & bar. A wonderful play space for kids and even kid sized picnic tables. We also checked out the upstairs deck where there's another bar and some beautiful views. You can order food inside, out in the "backyard" as well as the upper deck. All of the waiters, managers, bartenders & owner, Ryan were very friendly and happy to see you. First off, everyone was super friendly! From the hostess at the front who is very bubbly and accommodating to the waitress, who allowed me to take time to look over everything. She had excellent recommendations and a pretty good knowledge of the menu. She also checked back regularly. The restaurant has a fun lighthearted, upscale feel, with a beautiful outdoor area. Unfortunately, it was raining so I didn't get to explore, but the inside has huge windows which makes you feel like they bring the outside in. Started with a signature gin cocktail called The Gambler. They have a lot of fun sounding drinks. This one seemed like an interesting choice. It ended up being not as interesting as I had hoped, but not bad. If you are a vodka person, which I am, the selection is a little lacking, especially in local favorites, such as Dripping Springs or Good Night Loving. For a starter, I ordered the House Queso, because as you know in Texas, every restaurant is measured by their queso. This is gonna sound like an odd thing to say, as I do love authentic queso, but this is not that and I still liked it. If you like movie theater queso then you'll like this queso. It's not an insult and not in an "out of a can" sort of way, just simpler, no fuss melted cheese. I did enjoy it. It's just not what I would consider authentic queso (not that they even claimed that) but I would order it again. The chips were crisp, probably not made in house but have that homemade taste. The main course I wanted to try their chicken fingers. The pictures online looked like a homemade hand breading with homemade ranch or honey mustard. Another high bar for me is excellent french fries and chicken fingers. It might not be highbrow, but if you master those, your aces in my books. Because if you're gonna have a bar with great drinks, you're gonna need great finger foods. Another Texas staple...RANCH. Theirs is on point, as was the honey mustard. In fact, I can believe I'm going to say this, but the honey mustard was my favorite! The fries were fine. Hand cut but note crisp or beaded like I prefer. Fresh and hot but nothing to write home about. Now to the chicken finders...the picture online showed the perfect golden brown, mine were a little over cooked. Surprisingly not dry though. The breading was good but fell right off. The serving size was perfect and there is no doubt that these are made in house which is becoming hard to find as most places use frozen. I'd give them another chance. I would like the breading to be a little thicker and have a little more flavor and of course not be overcooked. I wanted to finish with a specialty drink called a man-espresso but I'll save that for next time! Everything was hot and fresh, and came out in a timely manner. Quite a few things on this menu I'd like to try, so I will definitely be back to check them out. At least half the appetizers sound like something I would want, like Fried Catfish Bites and Hand Breaded Mozzarella. If they add any kind of mushroom, I'd be there all the time! Plenty of excellent entree choices too. Asian Crunch Salad and the Honeysuckle Smash Burger are on my short list! There was more than enough staff, and it seems like they've gotten any service issues under control. I do think what appeared to be two managers on the floor, that them checking in at the tables would be a good idea. The restaurant was very clean. I even saw several people sweeping cleaning up. Throughout my time there. Overall an excellent experience! So glad I live close and can hopefully become a regular here. read more

Overall a good experience but there is definitely room for improvement to make this the go to place it can be. We made a reservation to dine on the upstairs patio (view is amazing). We arrived about 10-15 minutes before the reservation and checked in. We were told "You are checked in have a seat and check back in at reservation time." Not an offer to grab a drink at the bar or, we checked you in and will let you know when your table is ready. Just have a seat and check back in at "said time." What makes this worse is, the table we were eventually sat at was visible from where we parked. It was empty when we arrived (it was just hubby and I-so all parties were present). There is also an open seating bar where we could have grabbed a drink (bar is not visible from the entrance to the restaurant). So kind of weird. 2nd thing, we waited to be sat on a bench behind the hostess stand. This seemed to be a gathering spot for the wait staff and either a manager or owner (wait staff kept coming to him with questions/issues). The off-putting thing was there were a couple of times that they appeared to be discussing problematic customers. Were they problematic? Probably. Just not the best place to talk about patrons, imo. From there it was fine. They were having WiFi issues so the wait staff was doing their best taking orders and getting things out. Our waitress was great and drinks were good (did I mention the view?!?!). I had the chicken plate and it was tasty. Husband had the pork chop and it was tasty but over cooked. We tried twice (once their first month, and the other just last week), and I sat on this review for a moment because being in the restaurant business is hard, but I can't stop thinking about how extraordinarily mediocre this place is. When you walked in it smelled like Old Navy candles...NOT a restaurant with actual food. Who's idea was this? The downstairs dining room is loud af, and we were sat for 15 minutes, with other waiters walking by without being greeted/checked on or waters being delivered. We almost walked out. Mind you this was both times we visited. The whole place appears to be staffed by teenagers, which...I do get to a point. They are out in the middle of nowhere, and good help is sparse. But train them maybe. The food is really just ok. We've had the ceviche, chicken (inedible), the tuna, a burger and chicken fried steak (which was actually pretty tasty). Drinks came out with melted ice cubes every.time. Views are beautiful. It just seems like these owners have never done this before. There's more to running a restaurant than just a great location with a playground. We may return for a causal drink on the deck, but not for a meal. So I'll start about by saying this place has potential. The food is pretty good and outside area for the kids is great. With that being said, there is definitely room for improvement. We sat inside and the music was SO LOUD. I could barely hear the people at my table and I could see that other tables were having the same issue. We asked the hosts multiple times to turn it down but they never did or even attempt to ask a manager. The kids menu is also very limited with only three items. Good: absolutely beautiful constructed building and a very nice back outdoors. Didn't make it to the top as we were enjoying the music. We made reservation for nice window view but we were seated in the bar area. Sunk into the sofa when we sat...weird. We had the Fish & shrimp and it was good (a splittable meal). House wine "Cab" reasonably priced and very good. Our server Delaney was wonderful. She was very attentive and made sure she'll asked to serve our wine. Our outside waitress was very good also didn't get her name but she was prompt! Improvements: Most of the female serves had their hair pulled back but there were a couple with very long hair and when serving the plates to table hair flew into food dishes. Need to find the right table in the back to avoid running away from the sun. Most concerning were the water glasses. They were plastic and not clean, just serve them in Styrofoam cups if trying to save $$$. Management needs to train staff how to serve wine with a cloth to avoid spilling all over. Handful spring mix (1 cup?), less than 1 oz fried wontons, 1 oz (less?) rubbery chicken. Underwhelming for sure. Overpriced (?), absolutely! Gouda burger was very stingy. Looked like a baby burger. $20 burger but very stingy! Super small, No ketchup or salt/pepper delivery. Definitely ask! Not a $20 burger! read more

We walked in risking a long wait, yet our party of 13 was seated right away. Our table was outside near the playground, which thrilled our grandson. Our server (Lydia) was kind, courteous, and efficient even with such a large party. We ordered drinks and everyone was impressed but me. My $14 drink was tiny (live and learn) but tasty. The appetizers we ordered were all very good, and everyone raved about their entrees. The bread pudding and chocolate cake desserts were wonderful. We made 8pm reservations on the patio to make a sunset dinner for date night. Arrived at the restaurant about 5 mins before our reserved time, only to be told, "sorry, people aren't leaving." We were the taken to a table downstairs out by the play area. We then ordered drinks; mojitos, only to be told they were out of them. At this point our patience was wearing thin & we opted for a more appropriate surrounding. My question is, who's in the wrong? We had date night patio reservations for 8 to catch the 8:19 sunset, reservations made intentionally. We waited a while to try Honeysuckle to give them time to "smooth out the wrinkles." They did not. I ordered the drink "The Gambler" which I have never had. Our drinks took over 20 minutes to arrive. So, we immediately ordered another round so the drinks would arrive with our food. They did not. We were pretty much finished with our meal before the second round came. When I finally got my second drink, the glass was cracked and it was a completely different drink! I said something and the waiter replied that both were the drink I ordered. They were not even the same color! The chicken fried steak was big but very chewy. Another person ordered the catfish and shrimp and received a piece of catfish the size of an index finger. My husband ordered the Vegetarian Fettuccine Alfredo for $22. It came in what I can only describe as a cereal bowl... The waiter was nice but got a lot wrong and we had to keep calling for him. The location is cool, but the music was so loud upstairs that we could not hear each other talk. Then I get a call from the restaurant reminding me of our reservation while we were eating.
