It's wild, but I have been green so many times over the last 13 years living in Texas and I didn't find this jewel till not too long ago. I took my cousins that were here visiting from Germany there today and it was just really cool. The drinks were on point and the bartender was absolutely professional and welcoming. Nice spot.

Great speak easy in Gruene. A hidden gem. It is a bit tiny and chopped up compared to other speak easies. However, service is great and each room is cozy for smaller groups.

Such a cute find! After dinner at the Gristmill we headed into the courtyard and down to the underground speakeasy. Delicious, beautiful drinks! Several rooms with cozy chairs for conversations and even restrooms. We love this little spot. The bartenders knew their stuff! I got the pecan praline. It was delicious!

Great secret place. They don't advertise so if you don't know of this place, you will not know it's there. It's hidden below by the side of the Gruene Grove bar. No true indication it's there but if you walk down the stairs and passed the door that says "Keep Out" you will find yourself the finest Lil gem there is in Gruene. The place opens at 7:00 pm so don't count on visiting in the daytime. It is here that I experienced one of the best Old Fashioned that I have ever tasted. Yes, I have tasted many. I also tried a Whiskey sour and it too was delicious. The place is quaint definitely. The decor is vintage and cozy with the charm of a speakeasy. James who is a master craftsman on cocktails will be there to service your thirsty adult drink desire. So if you visit Gruene don't forget to try the place. Oh but hey!..........do not tell anyone I sent you. Shhhhh.

Good drinks but does not have the look and feel of a speakeasy. Looks like a restaurant inside and not a dimly lit bar

Creative without being overdone, and clearly built with intention. I went for the Old Fashioned flight, which featured bourbon, rye, mezcal, and rum variations (they let me tailor it to my spirit interests) each one distinct, balanced, and actually worth slowing down to compare. It's not just a gimmick; it's a thoughtful way to showcase how versatile a single cocktail can be. Service matched the quality of the drinks as they were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming without feeling forced. You can tell they care about what they're serving. The vibe is what really seals it. Lively but not chaotic, polished but still relaxed. It feels like a place you can settle into, whether you're starting the night or lingering for one more round. You go way to the back and down a steep flight of stairs. My son, his wife, and I left my wife and grandbaby in the saloon and headed down. When you get down there, you are suddenly in a beautiful Tiki bar with so many amazing things to gawk at. It sort of felt like waking up in OZ. We were the first people there, so we got to sit at the bar and watch our drinks being made. They have about 15 or so different specialty tiki drinks. Each one comes in a particular piece of glassware. I don't know how the bartender keeps them straight. He was constantly pouring different things into a shaker. Then he would shake it and pour it into the glass that was already filled with crushed ice. One of the drinks even had a smoking cinnamon stick. My drink was really good. It was the Three Dots and a Dash. It came in a barrel and was decorated with a skull toothpick that had three cherries and a piece of pineapple to represent the dots and dash. It was super strong! I was ready to risk it all and go for another drink, but it had gotten packed inside the bar. We could tell the bartender was stressing. They really need two for times like that. My wife spends the night at my son's house in New Braunfels every Thursday to give them a date night. Evidently, this is where they always go. I can certainly see why!

We intended to have 2 each but had to stick with one in order to function afterwards. I had the CFC Biscuit Benedict and you can customize it with spicy chicken or hot honey. I got the hot honey and it was perfect! It was so delicious I don't leave a morsel behind. My friend and I shared the salted caramel brownie for my birthday, and that was also delicious. I can't wait to come back here and this says a lot since I'm not big of fried chicken. Theirs is fried to perfection (soft on the inside and just crunchy enough on the outside). Last night I finally brought my husband to try it after hyping it up for so long, and unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. Things have definitely changed. I was really looking forward to the chicken fried chicken, only to find out they were completely out of mashed potatoes. For a place known for chicken, that was surprising. So I ended up just sharing some of my husband's meal and our appetizer. The cornbread has always been something I rave about, especially with their hot honey. This time it came out dry, and the hot honey had no heat at all. It just was not the same. My husband's fried chicken was honestly the worst part. It was burnt, with a layer of black under the breading, and tasted like it had been overcooked to the point of being charred. There is no way the kitchen did not see how dark it was before serving it. That said, his sides were still great, so at least part of the meal was enjoyable. Our friend's chicken sandwich was not terrible, but it did not taste fresh like it used to. It felt more like something frozen and heavily breaded instead of the quality we had experienced before. One positive was the service. Our server was wonderful, and the rest of the staff was kind and attentive as well. I accidentally spilled my drink right after it arrived, and they were quick and gracious to replace it even though it was completely my fault. That was very much appreciated. The other issue that really took away from the experience was the atmosphere. Halfway through our meal, a large group of adults sat in the courtyard and had their children sit separately at a table right next to us, while their parents remained in another section of the patio. The kids were clearly having fun and playing games, which is great, but they were also very loud and screaming just a foot away from our table while their parents enjoyed quiet drinks elsewhere. There were completely open sections of the patio farther away where they could have sat, so it was frustrating that they were placed right next to the only other table of adults trying to enjoy a night out. It ended up being very disruptive and took away from what we had hoped would be a relaxing evening. Overall, I was really disappointed. This used to be a place I highly recommended, but after this visit it feels like the quality and attention to detail have slipped. I truly hope they can get back to what made them so great before.

The venue is very popular, so expect large crowds and standing room only for many shows. While cards are accepted, having cash for an ATM across the street is useful.
