Wow, what a great place. We've been asked to go, and now we have. Very casual dining, plenty of seating, outdoors as well, I believe. We had a party of 20 plus and they accommodated us with ease. We were sat at two long tables, and we had two waitresses to take care of us, and they did. Super job from the whole staff. Very friendly and polite. I had the chicken fried steak, the portion was large, took up the whole plate. The meat was all the way to the edge, with the breading. Just the way it should be. I had Mac and cheese, and cream corn. Very good tasting. Maria had the chicken strips with gravy and fries. I'm not much a fan of steak fries, but these were done perfectly. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. Andrew had the chicken Alfredo, what a meal, especially for an 11year old, but he took care of that plate all by himself. This is the best lunch spot in Seguin, Texas you'll ever eat a meal at! And dinner is even more delicious! Been there many times and each time the food was awesome! From the daily specials to the best Fried Catfish & Shrimp you'll ever eat in this neck of the woods! They invented true customer service! My wife and I had a couple good meals with some even better service. This place was pretty full and we had to wait about 20 minutes to be seated, popular place around 1 pm on a Sunday. Our server Sandy was fast and friendly. Wifey got chicken fried chicken with a side salad and fried okra. I enjoyed a chicken fried steak. My two sides were green beans and fried okra, tasty. Absolutely amazing food! Had the Ruben with their homemade lemonade....delicious! They brought us out a lovely tasting of a pastry, almond croissant w/ powdered sugar, that they were considering putting on the menu...so yummy! Needs to be on the dessert menu! Should have ordered bun-less. Finding gluten-free meals while traveling on the interstate is impossible so we frequently go off the highway to try local places. Today I was praying for a gluten-free bun bc the restaurant was right by an HEB. Unfortunately, no such luck for me. Hubby ordered the Swiss mushroom burger & was not disappointed. Bun looked fresh & patty was a full 1/2 lb. It came with steak fries which were so good. I chickened out of going bun less (as suggested by the waitress) and ordered the "ultimate" chef salad which was mediocre at best. My salad did not include all the listed ingredients, had very little lettuce, and was made with mid-grade deli meat the amount of which was overwhelming. I had not visited this grill in some time. So I decided to give it a try and was professionally greated by a nice gentleman. He sat me in Sandy's section who promptly came to see if I needed a beverage. I received a fresh ice tea with lemon. I told her I was ready to order and I ordered the Chicken Taco Salad. It was freshly made with crisp lettuce, tomatoes, with side kicks of sour cream and avacodo. I didn't get a dressing as I asked for the salsa. It was so tasty that I asked for additional. They did have a great selection of daily specials and the cakes are home made by the owner I understand and are a heafty servicing I saw. Started off with their fried mushrooms and they are big. One of the few places I have been able to get fried mushrooms of this size. If you are wanting a warm sandwich, get their Reuben sandwich. Very flavorful and it wasn't overpowered by their sauerkraut. Descent service in this packed establishment. A couple items tasted cold but they were very quick to replace it with another item and was frequent when filling up our drinks. Ended up at the 1838 Grill because it was recommended by one of the business owners in Seguin. We could tell this was a popular spot with many filled tables. We were seated after a few minutes and the service was pretty good. Even though our waitress was training someone, she was very quick with drinks and taking our order. The food at the Grill is pretty standard lunch food. They had some notable standouts such as their Liver and Onions and their Chicken Pot Pie special. I ordered the Seguin Club (10.49), which was very good. In fact, we all enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Came here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the size. They had plenty of seats and we did not have to wait long to be seated. The biggest negative was the amount of noise in the restaurant, lots of tile, and little sound proofing made for voices to carry and made it a little difficult to talk to the people you're sitting with. The host who served us was very quiet, however the servers talked clear and loud enough for us to hear. All of the food was pretty good. Served hot, and I thought the quality and quantity for the price were very reasonable. Having said that this is very casual.
