It's been a super long time since I've eaten here. Growing up in the area, this was always our go to place after a long day at Schlitterbahn. We won't talk about how many years later but we finally made it back. Our server was phenomenal. We were in from out of town visiting family at their restaurant, and she was so attentive and super kind about us taking up her table longer. We started off with onion rings and they were delicious. The ranch is pretty great also. I couldn't help I get the chicken fried steak with a homemade fries. I live in Las Vegas and there are some things that you just can't get that equal Texas cooking. All of it was super great. Sometimes when you get chicken fried steak, it's greasy from the frying there was none of that here. The steak was flavored good. The batter was flavored great and it was crispy and the gravy was flavored. I mean, Texas folk definitely know how to season their cooking. The fries are so good and dipped in my gravy from the chicken fried steak and I was in heaven. My son ordered a cheesesteak. It looked good and he enjoyed it. I have to teach him to be a little more southern though when he orders. Just kidding. I love the feel of Pat's Place. It's an old house converted into a restaurant and it does feel like you're eating a home-cooked meal in a friends house. It's unbeatable. I appreciate after all these years, this place still rocks. I've been coming to Pats place since the 80's when on vacation, so when I'm in town I try to stop in so all my childhood memories come rushing back to me. We had breakfast this time and while it took a long time for our food to come out, it was worth the wait!!!! I had the biscuit's and gravy and they were huge but oh so tasty. My friend had the omelette and said it was delicious. It looked delicious. The portions are huge so again If you don't eat a lot at once you can easily split a meal. When in New Braunfels and craving a damn good burger or massive and tasty chicken fried steak, go check out Pat's Place. First things first: PARKING. Parking can be a challenge. While they have a good sized parking lot, it can be challenging to find parking during lunch. You may have to wait a few minutes for a patron to leave but you'll be glad you did as the food is great. Starting with the chicken fried steak, that thing is massive and tasty. Thick, juicy and with a nice bite, it's sure to make you go into a food coma. And that's before you even finish the sides. Their burgers are some of the best around. The patties are well seasoned and have a nice crust, yet juicy inside. Pair that fresh lettuce, tomatoes, bacon, mustard and ketchup snd you got one hell of s burger. Onion rings are nicely fried and you always get a healthy portion. Another item that's pretty outstanding is their Arnold Palmer. Not quite sure what type of tea or lemonade they use but it's mighty tasty. We returned the sodas on the balcony because they were flat. Completely different from the sodas on the first floor. We were let down, though the food was not that good. Always our go to place and recommendation to others. Today I was a little disappointed. We walked in and no one at front to sit us. A person at the bar signaled for someone. My husband had just finished what was left of a Diet Coke in our car and thought he could throw the can away inside, no littering in my car or outside is my rule. Couldn't find a trash can anywhere. So took inside to ask if we could throw away when we got to table. A guy who was at the bar drinking a beer was watching us and signaled to our waiter pointing to us with a can. This was before we could even ask. I told our waiter the can was empty, we wanted to throw away as he started to tell us no outside drinks. Waiter was very kind and took the empty can. I'm sharing with you as I'm not sure who the guy was drinking at the bar but if he worked there he shouldn't be drinking and if not, not sure it was his business to point us out. Next feedback, lots of employees standing in the bar conversing with the same man at the bar along with another that was drinking and using his small vaping device at the bar. We watched two customers attempting to pay their bill and had to ask someone for their bill. I too had to flag down our waiter for the bill and get up and give him my cash to pay as we were walking out. This is not normal atmosphere or service for Pat's. As usual food was great. 2 hours and still no food. Ridiculous and horrible. What happened to this place. Was once fast and friendly. Now slow and miserable. Feel sorry for our Server. No apologies, no Manager presence, NO GOOD!! David. Thanks for the quick reply. There was NO Manager NO owner. I asked our Server and Hostess both and they apologized, but no one else to talk to. $170 and horrible. Finally got our food to go. Also fresh food does not take longer to cook. Everyone there tonight had a bad experience. Everyone was looking around to trying to figure out when they were going to get served. Yall should be embarrassed. The Owner David said he looked at the camera and that we were not there 2 hours. Check again. We got there a little after 6, quoted 20 minutes for group of 5 adults and 4 children under 5. After 25 minutes we checked with hostess and she said another 25 minutes because the kitchen was slow getting the food out. After 10-15 minutes we told her we could split up if that would help. She sat us quickly after. One kids meal came out quickly, but they accidentally brought 2 of them. The others were 10 or more minutes later. We asked the Server what the problem was and she said kitchen was very slow. It was after bedtime so we got the food to go, which seemed to take forever. We asked to talk to a Manager with both Server and a Hostess and they said they didn't know where they were. Everyone in our section and I believe the entire restaurant had a slow experience. The food is not worth the wait. The owner can't seem to admit that they were bad last night. Just own up to a bad night and get better. The Team Members were very kind and apologetic. I feel sorry for them. If you want a great meal walk across the street to Tin Top or go to Muck and Fuss. read more

We stopped in after church on Sunday with a party of 9. Unfortunately we could not sit all together, but otherwise our experience was great. Service was excellent for a busy Sunday afternoon. The food came out hot and fast, and the server kept up nicely with drink refills, extra napkins, etc. My table ate flautas with rice & beans, cheeseburger (cooked well as requested) and fries, Ruben and sweet potato fries and the chicken fried chicken sandwich with onion rings. Everyone enjoyed their meal, although the chicken fried chicken sandwich with gravy was a little messy. We probably will not order it as a sandwich next time - but the quality and taste of the sandwich was good. I enjoyed my Ruben and sweet potato fries. It had a generous portion of meat, which was tender. The sweet potato fries were nicely crispy on the outside, but not hard. And, of course, I am always happy when I can get Diet Dr Pepper with my meal! read more

We ended up at Pat's Place when the original Sunday brunch restaurant we had planned had too long of a wait for our schedule. Pats place was perfect. There was plenty of parking and it was not busy when we arrived shortly after opening (although it was much busier by the time we left). We were seated promptly and service was friendly and efficient. We all liked our food-it reminded me of "home cooking"! I especially liked my bacon and biscuit in the All American. After a long haitus, we decided to try Pat's Place again. Sadly, the food, service, and condition of the restaurant leave a lot to be desired. "Spicy hot sauce" was the most bland tasting hot sauce and had zero flavor. Menu "special" on each table was for May; it is now June 22nd. Bathroom inoperable and appeared to have been that way a whie. Until we see an " under new management " sign, we will not return. There are much better options across the street! read more

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, I had some good friends come into town for a visit. With them being our guests, we asked where they wanted to go for lunch. Pat's it is.... I am a long time resident in New Braunfels, and this is my second visit, and the first under the new owners. Our first visit was average, with their burgers being decent. We all walked in and were seated promptly with menus and silverware. Our waitress was not far behind, and took our drink order. While she was off to get our drinks, we all perused the menu. Not in the mood for a burger, I was looking for something else. I remember recently seeing on social media folks looking for good cheese enchiladas, and Pat's got a lot of mentions. Intrigued, I would give them a try. In good time, the waitress returned with our drinks. The drinks come in these mini mason jars, and for the sweet tea drinkers, a small picture. Nice. I ordered the cheese enchiladas with rice and beans. The wife and my friends got burgers. As a bonus, anyone who orders Mexican dishes gets free chips and salsa. You are welcome wife and friends! The waitress returned shortly, after turning our order in, with chips and salsa in hand. Generally, the chips and salsa will set the tone for a Mexican dish. If they are good, the food will too. The chips and salsa were delicious. All looking good so far. We continued catching up on old times back in Houston. In average time, the food arrived. The burgers looked good, but my enchiladas looked better. I wasted no time and jumped right into mine. The enchiladas were really good. Much better than what I expected. Social media claims were validated for sure. The cheese was gooey, the chili sauce was tasty, and the rice and beans were delicious. I scarfed mine down. The wife loved her burger, and my friends enjoyed theirs too. We paid the bill and were out the door. What a great Sunday with great fellowship with friends, a beautiful day outside, and excellent food. When I return, the enchiladas will be my go to now. Slow for a Friday but it was rainy. Ordered frozen marg, no salt, . Came with salt, very light color, I don't do salt, server said sorry, misheard you. It tasted very murky. I wouldn't order one again. My husband, kindly drink the other one. I don't know if they would've taken it back off my bill. I got the burger that I asked for mustard on it and it looked like they own almost smidge it. A little greasy, not the best burger I ever ate. I got tater tots, ask for them extra crispy and they were done well, not a very large quantity compared to some places. My husband said the chicken fried steak was good. The portion of mashed potatoes was small but tasty and he said the green beans were very sweet tasting. Not sure why. I was surprised this didn't come with some sort of a bread. My boyfriend and I came here for a family/friend gathering this last Tuesday. Can I just say our food, service, atmosphere were OUTSTANDING! Angel was our waitress and let me just say she was amazing! Very personable, kind, quick, and consistent from start to finish of our evening :)! Two questions for you. We have tried very hard to like your restaurant. The same issues every time, the food is never hot. Most of the time it is barley warm. Why is the turkey shredded and not sliced? The person who is usually waiting on people who sit at the bar has all the personality of a vending machine. And about the same level of service. I was there this evening for the catfish... and left filled with nothing but regret. The two of us ordered the all you can eat catfish after some fried cheese (which was impeccable!) but when the meal arrived, the positive experience left. I'm not sure if the oil was too hot or if of needed to be changed, but the fish was cooked so hard that the outside was near impossible to bite through while the catfish was still uncooked inside. So uncooked that the catfish skin was like a rubber band. The hushpuppies were crispy outside but raw dough in the middle. I enjoyed the coleslaw, so there's that. We both ate half of one piece each and when the server came back and asked if we wanted more we said no, that we didn't like it. I showed our server the uncooked fish with rubbery skin and dough hushpuppies". The response was "yeah- it's been hit or miss all day". We clearly did not eat the meal and when the server returned with the bill, we were handed a pass for a free appetizer each and were told "I couldn't discount it because it was already discounted", not that I asked for a discount but it would seem a manager perhaps should have come over to speak with us. In fact, THAT would have prevented me from writing this review. So after spending $50 (yes, I still tipped), we left with a few cheese sticks in our bellies and went to Domino's. We won't be going back. Havent been to pats since they changed owners so this is a brand new experience. I kinda compare them vs now. Went in on a Thursday about 6:30. 10 minute wait which went by fast. We sat in the new room at a larger table due to having a baby. I enjoyed not being squished in a corner. I ordered a beef and chicken enchilada plate and my husband ordered beef. Enchiladas were very good. I miss the old chicken enchiladas but had no complaints with these new ones . Didn't come with sour cream which they used to before but it was fine. Chips and salsa were amazing . I am loving this new salsa they have it had a nice kick without feeling like I'm going to burn my throat. The old salsa was a lotto, you never knew if it was gonna be spicy or plain. They do charge a credit card fee which is listed on the menu and i believe at the front. I think it was happy hour when i went but wasn't sure. Waitress didn't tell us if it was or not but Facebook did when i went home. Would have probably got some queso if it was. This place is adorable on exterior. We are from out of town and wanted to try a local place. Pats Place did not disappoint! Our server, Kristen, was fast, efficient and very pleasant. My cheeseburger was soooo good but the fries were outstanding. I like my fries crispy and whoever cooked them did as was requested (a rarity). My sister had a turkey sandwich and said it was fresh and delicious. We only drank water but I like that our server brought a pitcher for the table. All in all we loved it! Well I love the service and food. Sometimes it's a miss but 99% of the time I have gotten great food. The 1% I speak of was a hamburger. It was soggy in the to go box. I am 5 minutes away and had to wait on it a minute or two. I don't know if there was an underlying problem that particular time but I chalked it up to the to go process. We haven't been there in 5+ years, however we will give them one last try soon. The new owners (when Pat etc sold) got rid of the homemade salsa which was to kill for, using a bottle version. Hope that is back when we go back. The chicken enchilada also had a wonderful sauce. That went by the wayside....not to mention a couple of wrong orders where I got beef and no chicken. The final issue. Adding 3% per credit card transaction. DUMB. I hate add ons, simply add it to the cost of the plate where people don't see it. We will see. read more
