We were in New Braunfels for Father's Day. This amazing Tiki bar was the highlight of the day. It is in the basement of the Phoenix Saloon. You go way to the back and down a steep flight of stairs. My son, his wife, and I left my wife and grandbaby in the saloon and headed down. When you get down there, you are suddenly in a beautiful Tiki bar with so many amazing things to gawk at. It sort of felt like waking up in OZ. We were the first people there, so we got to sit at the bar and watch our drinks being made. They have about 15 or so different specialty tiki drinks. Each one comes in a particular piece of glassware. I don't know how the bartender keeps them straight. He was constantly pouring different things into a shaker. Then he would shake it and pour it into the glass that was already filled with crushed ice. One of the drinks even had a smoking cinnamon stick. My drink was really good. It was the Three Dots and a Dash. It came in a barrel and was decorated with a skull toothpick that had three cherries and a piece of pineapple to represent the dots and dash. It was super strong! I was ready to risk it all and go for another drink, but it had gotten packed inside the bar. We could tell the bartender was stressing. They really need two for times like that. My wife spends the night at my son's house in New Braunfels every Thursday to give them a date night. Evidently, this is where they always go. I can certainly see why! read more

Really cool "hidden" bar under the Phoenix. It's really intimate so it's fun with a small group or even a date. The decor is top notch and the drinks are so fun and so different. This is not a place to have a quick drink, as the bartenders really craft the art of the cocktail you order (expect 15-20 min for 2 drinks). I would love to come back and try more! read more

Excellent Tiki drinks and atmosphere. We sat at the bar so that we could watch them make the drinks which is super fun with tiki. They had a 2-person drink that looked over-the-top in the best of ways. We didn't get that; we tried the Mai Tai, Painkiller, and Two Dots and a Dash. All were excellent! Small and unsuspecting--and you better know where it is! All the way at the back of the Phoenix Saloon, and down the stairs. This short walk takes you to a magical place that should not exist in New Braunfels. The ambiance here is SPECTACULAR. Service was good. Compared to other tiki bars in the world, the drinks were good. Maybe I'm a rum snoot, but their brand choices were not getting it done for me. I had much higher expectations for the price points of the drinks than what we were served. Don't get me wrong, they were good. We had a great time. As a tiki fanatic, I'm always excited to scope out new to me tiki bars! Uncharted just opened, within the past week or two, and I'm always interested to experience a tiki bar in its birth era. I saw no kinks tonight (impressive for a baby on a Friday night!), service was excellent, and the zombie and Uncharted drinks I had were great. The staff were *busy* and remained calm and unstressed as they rocked the million drink orders. It was a very fun, joyful atmosphere tonight. It was amusing to see a lot of locals streaming in, looking around, never having been into a tiki bar before. I hope this starts the tiki bug for many! The decor inside is stellar, evidence of a true tiki connoisseur making the selections. What I love about tiki is, if it's done well, it totally transports you to somewhere else. You are engulfed in otherworldly decor and music, and the libations are structured to enhance the carefree polynesian experience. Uncharted succeeds on all these important tiki experience must-haves! When you walk down the stairs you enter a paradise where you can forget your troubles. The decor was on point, the music curated perfectly, drinks amazing and staff super friendly. Started off with Maitais, as one does to test out a new tiki spot and they did not disappoint. The star of the show for us was the signature Uncharted cocktail. We'll make the trip again from Austin, so lucky to have a new tiki spot to frequent. read more

FIRST THINGS FIRST: it's the bottom floor of a bar called Phoenix Saloon. Walk in towards the back and there will be a stair way to the left. Outstanding Tiki bar. ** not your run-of-the-mill tiki bar** Bartenders were very knowledgeable. I go to a lot of tiki bars and this bar beats out the best of the rest in the area and is a must-see for tiki people who find themselves in the San Antonio area. They serve a great Mai Thai 44. UNCHARTED is the best bar ever! It's not just a bar, it's an experience. The entire den is a handcrafted work of art. There are so many intricate and fascinating details to discover. The drinks are also works of art, served in unique vessels with exotic ingredients and garnishes. I plan to try a different drink each time I drop in. Finding the bar can be a bit of a challenge. Enter the Phoenix Saloon (which is also a very nice bar), go to the back wall and take the staircase down. As soon as you reach the bottom, the experience begins. It's a very intimate sanctum. I've been here a few times and will definitely keep coming when I'm in the area. The decor is on point and it's a nice change of style from the rest of New Braunfels. The bartenders are quick and friendly, even when I came in with my cocktail group and filled up the place. Their menu covers all the tiki classics and all of them are perfectly executed. My only complaint about this place is that it's too hard to pick between the drinks. Do be careful when choosing - the drinks are strong (a great value for the price) so limit yourself to two or maybe three per visit. read more
