There was a time when the grapevine was a tasting room but that is no longer the case. Glasses and bottles of wine and some frozen drinks as well as a fridge with variety of beer can be found. It's still a great place to visit. Friday, Saturday and Sunday there is music on the lawn. read more

This is such a great spot in Gruene. We always stop by when we are in town to visit my parents. They have wine and beer on tap, many which are from Texas. Which we love! The wine you can buy by the glass or by the bottle. They have some limited seating inside, and a ton of seating outside. We love sitting outside and enjoying the weather. They have a stage outside that they have Iive music at often. It's so relaxing there and the vibes are always the best! read more

***This review is for the outside live music and dancing only*** As I was walking to my car, I took an interest in the Grapevine venue... it's basically a wine and beer spot. They had outside patio seating with live music and dancing. I witnessed a lovely older couple dancing which was a heart-warming sight. Lovebirds were in the air LOL. It brought me back to my college days... I attended Cal Poly Pomona, but I took dancing classes at Cal State LA (I was young and found myself venturing to different places to keep myself entertained LOL... driving a distance is never an issue for me!)... it was really fun... I haven't danced in ages... still searching for the right partner to lead the way. One fine day, when I meet my true soulmate, we'll dance every night away through the end of time to make up for lost time LOL. The service here is not good enough to justify the price of their very average wine selection. My friend and I ran out of paper towels in the bathroom and saw some on a shelf in the OPEN storage closet next to the women's bathroom, so we thought it would be nice to refill it for the next person to use the restroom. One of the girls working there nearly snapped my head off for doing her job and said, "Next time you need to come get one of us," in the snarkiest, condescending tone. One of my favorite spots to stop by for a drink and to stop and relax for a little while. We visited on a Saturday, which it wasnt too busy, and enjoyed people watching while waiting for a table to become available at the Gristmill. I enjoyed the frozen sangria and my husband enjoyed a beer while live music started playing outside in the court yard. Great weather although a little warm for a fall day in October. The Grapevine is a great place to a cool drink or a glass of vino, catch some music, or people watch. We did not partake of their wine but on a hot October, Saturday a cold beer or two was in order. The beer line moves fast and there is a good selection of local and corporate beers. Masks are required indoors while you order and the outside tables are set pretty far apart. There is a good-sized shaded courtyard with live music (on this Sat afternoon). We opted for the people watching section by the street and we were not disappointed. Like most places in Gruene everything is a bit overpriced but if you know where to go there are good (nontourist priced) deals. This place is really nice. They have a ton of different wines, beers, etc to choose from and a beautiful outdoor seating area to enjoy. It's covered with trees so mostly shaded but I thought it was really cool that they had misting fans going for muggy hot days like today. If you're in town and want to hang out with the girls or spend time with your significant other, this would be an amazing place to come and try something new while relaxing. Everything was also labeled: sweet, red, white, rosé, and even organic. I didn't know organic wine was a thing but apparently it is and they have it. The guy working today was not the nicest. Came here on a busy weekend, line was out the door, but definitely did their best to stagger the line. While there was plenty of out door seating, and a live band playing...definitely still crowded. Drink wise...we got the frozen wine-a-rita - sangria and peach bellini......very sugary.. but very good if you like sugary drinks. Also kinda on the pricier side for 2 slushy type drinks after tip. I went here for a happy hour with some of my girlfriends. It was a hot day and they had wine slushes that were refreshing. There is a lot of seating underneath large beautiful trees. There is also some open green space that people had blankets laid out. They have live music and it is overall a really nice place to just relax. They sell lots of different wine and several beers (both on tap and bottled). A few downsides to the place is that there in not an indoor seating area, they don't sell liquor, and there are only two bathrooms that get get a long line if they are busy. Go inside and pick your poison - you can get wine by the glass or bottle or they had 2 frozen drink options as well. Outside, there was a cart where you could get beer. They also have kid friendly options as well. As far as food goes, you could probably bring in your own food, but they also have little snacks/cheese plates for purchase as well. This store/wine local is in the center of Gruene. It is across from Gruene Hall & Mozies restaurant. The store is filled w wine glasses & coasters (other items relating to wine) w funny quotes. They have a very large variety of wine that they sell by the glass & by the bottle. We got 2 glasses of their "best seller", the Texas Southwind Blackberry Wine & one of my friends bought a bottle ($29) bc she loved it so much. Each "glass" was $9 & it came in a small plastic cup. I have an eye for a serving of wine & this was DEFINITELY short. Our cup wasn't even HALF way full. Unfortunately, they do not do offer Wine Flights. I'm not sure why. This could be such a great addition to their business. They have a huge variety of wine. It'd be nice to try 4-5 wines & then be able to buy a bottle (or 3 ) of your favorite wines to take home w you. IMO, they are hurting their business by not offering flights. If we had been able to try more wines & not have to pay so much for each tiny glass just to TRY the wine, I'm sure our group would've walked out w more than one bottle. There is a small courtyard next to the store where you could just sit & drink if you wanted to. There were numerous dogs w their owners. We didn't have food but their beer selection was great and I tried the Blonde that's from near by San Marcos, it was very flavorful and hit the spot especially like a hot day like today. Many wine selections plus a great place to pick up some great items to take back home. The ambiance was very relaxing and a great way just to sit inside or outside and just relax. The gentleman behind the bar was very a helpful my choice of beer I was going to consume, his customer service was on point and very informative on the beer that were on hand. I ask if it was okay to smoke outside in the beer/wine garden and he said yes by all means and enjoy your stogie. Quaint wine and beer spot across the street from the Grist Mill. Stumbled onto the place roaming around town and decided to stop in to quench our thirst. They don't seem to do tastings here, which is a bummer, but do have happy hour! I enjoyed a sweet white wine, while my bf got an IPA off draft (sorry, forgot which one was in rotation). And I do not want to be cheesy and say if I could give zero stars I would however this place must not need any customers and it clearly shows!! I know first hand that getting hard working employees is hard to find, however shutting the door on a patrons face one minute exactly after close is unacceptable especially after we verified it was open an hour later and made a 45 minute drive to get here!! I just wish that people would frequent a place that values morals and ethics instead of location because I know if this establishment was not on an ideal location and it treated customers this way it would be shut down! Gosh I would love to give this place 5 stars. The ambience is one of my favorites in Gruene and the wine selection is super casual and affordable. I truly enjoy every time I come here. I just wish the bathroom situation was different- this place is too busy for two gender neutral bathrooms. The bathroom wait is never short of 10 minutes. I hope they resolve this soon! The disappointing thing is if you plan on buying a bottle of wine, they won't even let you sample a taste before you buy...not even a sip, even if they already have another bottle open. Working in food service for 12 years myself, this shocked me a bit by that style of hospitality. They don't have real wine glasses, which is also disappointing for the cost of a full glass of wine to be served in a small, plastic water cup. $18 for a 24 oz glass of the frozen wine as well, which seems quite pricey. read more

Nice selection of Texas wines. Was cool to see that they carry a selection of Rohan meadery and honey wines. This will save a trip to LaGrange. Come here on and off, usually to show out of town guests which was the case today. They loved the hospitality and selection. The only negative is that it can get so cramped inside and the AC is not up to the challenge of cooling the place with the constant traffic opening the doors. I LOVE The Grapevine and I tell everyone I know about them! It is my favorite place to go, especially this time of year when the weather starts to cool off they will light up a fire pit. It is the perfect place for a date or group of friends to hang out. Before ordering, you are aloud to taste three wines. There is a wide selection to choose from with categories: sweet/dessert, red, and white. My husband and I usually will take one small sip of our glass and then switch so that we can try six and then buy a bottle of the one we love the most. They give you the option of having a chilled wine in a bucket of ice. In the summertime, we will do this with one of the sweeter wines. Our favorite thing to do is to get them to open the wine and bag it, then give us two plastic cups. This allows us to carry the bottle around and sip on the wine while we walk around town to the different shops. read more

This is a wine tasting room, not a winery. Just thought I would throw that out there since most people like to go to actual wineries when up in the hill country region. This is a super cute spot (that can get extremely busy) where you can sit outside and enjoy sipping on fermented grapes while listening to live music. It's dog friendly.
