Just a quick stop in to show my friend the famous hall in Gruene. It's charming and historic, with a lot of celebrities that have passed through.

This place was great, I had heard may great things about the venue itself with the surrounding historic Gruene area. The entrance to the place itself was very smooth and easy to access. There was plentiful of space in the area for parking close by. The staff there were super helpful when asking questions. I didn't try the food but I saw the bar was super packed and seemed to be getting much business.

Stopped in to listen to the live music and check out the building. Such a cool space, and kept pretty true to it's history it feels like. The also have an outdoor space where kids can play basketball and run around a bit. Definitely worth stopping in! Next time we will try the drinks

The Greune Hall is 145+ years old and is a fantastic place to go. Behind it is the famous and amazing Gristmill restaurant over looking the Guadalupe River. The entire Greune area is amazing place to go hang out. Huge oak trees, great music 7 days a week at the Greune Hall (and some pretty big names) and great food. And all around it are super fun and cute shops. Super clean and nice. Every shop you go into is delightful and so nice and this is especially true at the Greune Hall. There is also outdoor seating at the Hall if you do not like standing and listening. Great for groups and all around good times!

Gruene Hall now takes credit cards. This is so helpful since so few people carry lots of cash on them. Although the hall has always been reasonably priced for beer in this neck of the woods

It's a must visit site. And hard to add anything new that hasn't already been said about the oldest TX dance hall. It's got history and nostalgia, old songs and celebrity photos, a wobbly wood floor and all types of people with a big outdoor area. Just find a band and go. Get liquors up at the Grapevine nearby before you go.

This was the coolest place ever!! So much country music history here and the way nothing has changed. The staff is very pleasant and loved talking about the Hall. The pictures on the wall really tell the story for the place.

I've been here so many times that I can't believe I've never written a review. This historical honky-tonk is a no frills venue that continues to pay homage to its roots since inception. So many famous folks have played here. We were lucky enough to catch Morgan Wade performing during our last visit. The employees are efficient, super friendly, and happy. Beer prices are average and affordable.

A neat place with a lot of music history. Lost on the policy of letting small children in for concerts. Offers a more tourist vibe with that situation. Our one trip to the bar experience was weak on service. I would recommend to go at least once.

Stop and have a cold beer when visiting this historic building. So many country western stars have graced the stage here. There is a bar at the front which is open all the time. They let you go into the hall and check it out. I've stopped here twice, once during the winter. They had the pot belly stove going and it was toasty inside. They remove the stove during the warm months to make more room in the bar. Across the street are some real cool stores and there are good restaurants next door and down the street. Great small town vibe. Highly recommend the drive out here if you are staying in San Antonio.

Really cool historic must-see when visiting Gruene. For the history alone and walking around to see all the signed photographs of country artists who have come/performed here. There's a wood burning stove for heat in the fall/winter to add to the charm. There is always live music and often times it is free. They serve beer and wine only, no liquor, and a few bags of chips up front. We had a great time and the bartender was friendly and chatted with everyone coming through the bar.

Gruene Hall is filled with history.

I always wanted to step into the oldest dance hall in Texas, but never seemed to have the time or a reason during numerous visits to Gruene. The group Soul Sessions gave me the reason and a friend and I made the time. Both the group and the hall did not disappoint. The place is filled with history and is like stepping back into time. The acoustics are great and the atmosphere was upbeat and pleasant. My friend had a beer and I had some wine and we were both pleased with our choices. We sat at one of the long bench tables and occasionally got up to dance and then returned to our seats. We can't wait to go back!

Ask the Community - Gruene Hall

I see the words "dance hall", but in all of the posted pictures I see very little dancing. Is there dancing, or is there just music for listening?

If there's dancing music being played, there's definitely a few people dancing up front; but this is first and foremost a concert venue.

I notice they open early. Do they have music during the day, or only in the evening when bands are performing?

Afternoon /evenings on weekends ( evenings on Friday and Saturday usually paid show depends who's playing) and evenings during the week (free). Don't come early! There's no music

I hope to be moved up there by thanksgiving.iam moving to Canyon Lake. Wonder if I will get to meet a famous singer?

Well you'll see them perform not sure you'll meet them. Gruene hall has had the likes of Willie Nelson, George strait, private party of ZZ Top( I wasn't invited and I live down the street ) Flaco Jimenez ( lifetime grammy award winner )always has… Read more

If there were such a thing as a Michelin star experience for service and atmosphere, Austin Eaheart…read moreat Cowboys and Cadillacs Bar and Lounge in New Braunfels would be leading the charge. From the moment we were seated, Austin set the tone for the entire evening. Attentive, personable, funny, and effortlessly charming, he has a rare gift for connection. He keeps conversation flowing in the most natural way, making you feel like you've known him your whole life. What's even more impressive is how he balances this across all his tables, giving each guest the same level of attention and care. He reads the room perfectly, knowing when to engage, when to step back, and how to create a lighthearted, welcoming experience that feels completely personalized. Now, hold on to your cowboy hat and loosen that belt because the food absolutely delivers. The featured 34 oz Tomahawk steak dinner is nothing short of extraordinary. Packed with flavor and cooked to perfection, it will have you rethinking every steak you've ever had before. It is bold, rich, and unforgettable. The Cream Corn Crème Brûlée side dish is truly one of a kind. It perfectly blends the creamy, comforting texture of corn with that signature caramelized, crackable topping you expect from a classic crème brûlée. It was so incredible we ordered a second helping without hesitation. And then there's the Gilded Butter Cake. Honestly, it could easily be called something even more indulgent because it is that good. Sinfully delicious and completely irresistible, it somehow finds a way to make you forget how full you are. No matter how much you've eaten, you will make room for this dessert. It is in a league of its own. Hats off to the chef for an outstanding culinary experience. But as we all know, service can make or break a night, and Austin Eaheart absolutely elevates it. He was made to do this. His ability to connect, engage, and create an unforgettable experience sets him apart in every way. The only note I would add is about the initial arrival. When we first got there, we were asked to pay a cover charge for entry due to the rooftop bar and live music. Once we explained we were there for dinner, the charge was waived, but it did take away slightly from the elevated dining experience. When you're planning to spend a couple hundred dollars on a nice meal, being asked for a ten dollar per person cover at the door can feel a bit off-putting. That said, I am so glad we did not let that first impression turn us away. After taking our time and fully enjoying dinner, we eventually made our way upstairs later in the evening and were glad we checked it out. Dinner, service (Austin E.), and overall atmosphere completely made us forget about that initial moment. It would just be nice if there were a more seamless way to separate the dining entrance from the rooftop bar so guests coming in for dinner are not immediately met with a cover charge request. Overall, this was an incredible experience. Do yourself a favor and go. Ask for Austin E (they have a few Austin's but only one Austin Eaheart). You will leave full, happy, and already planning your next visit.

We came to Cowboys & Cadillacs as it seemed like a cool place to go. They have dinning inside. But outside roof top there is a huge stage, and big fire pit. The second level is more seating and a bar. A lot of people were out. A couple "brides to be" with their party were out too. The band was good. Ordered a blueberry mojito. Very nice. Also ordered their flat bread pizza. Loved the bbq sauce that was on it. And picked jalapeños. Great night over all.

Plenty of seating options from stools to Adirondack chairs, as well as fire pits for those chilly nights. They don't actually serve food, but there is a food truck outside the entrance. I don't know if it changes, but this truck offered tacos and quesadillas that night. We didn't have any. Drinks are just OK. Beer selection is poor if you're a picky beer drinker. The margaritas are from a machine and a little on the weak side. Since I was the DD, I ordered a soda and it was awful. A lot of bars go cheap and serve off-brand sodas because people will mix them with alcohol and not notice that they aren't the "real deal." I couldn't drink it. It was so bad, I shuddered after every sip - and then I gave up. I ordered a water, and that was just as terrible! I don't know if it's the dispenser gun that carries over the flavors of everything else that comes out of it, or the ice is funky, or what, but I couldn't drink that either. I wish they'd have bottled water or something. Canned soda? Something that will make it enjoyable for everyone, not just the alcohol consumers? Being an occasional DD, there has to be something for me to enjoy, too, since I'm the one who decides how long we'll stay and when we'll leave if it's not good. Service was walk-up to the bar. Still, I give it 4 stars just because the overall vibe is really cool and the band we love was playing that night.
